This place is the best. I've Been coming here for years to get their blackened wings and margaritas! Their chips and salsa and queso is also delicious. Let's talk about the wings though. The wings are blackened on the grill out back. They take a little longer to prepare but they are so worth it. My favorite flavor is garlic Parmesan and hector habenera. Kelly and Kevin own this place and take pride n providing the best experience. This place get jammed pack especially when our favorite sports are playing. They have lots of tv's and great sound system Every time we have gone it's been packed with lots of adults. I have seen people arrive and stand around near the bar even when there are not seats. Worst service ever and definitely experienced some type of racism when we first entered. The host gave us an unnecessary attitude, we were served in water/soda in foam cups while everyone at the establishment were served in the regular plastic cups. I would like to tell you how tasty the food was but unfortunately one of the Managers kept me from doing that today. After waiting for nearly an hour and asking a simple question in regards to an empty reserved table (also empty for nearly an hour) the Manager tells my friend that they reserve for customers that have been going to the establishment for over 27 years and that maybe one day he will be lucky enough and they will reserve a table for him after 27 years. Note this review is just for their wings and takeaway experience. If you like super meaty wings whether naked or breaded...this place will do! I had an order of garlic parm wings that were breaded and not only were they fried to a nice golden brown color but seasoned very generously. The flavor was superior and not too salty yet not bland at all. The wing meat was very moist and tender. We had gotten the order to go and still, it was very good. Now had I dined in and got them fresh from the kitchen, I can't imagine how great they would've been. They have a lot of other good flavors on their menu too (honey BBQ, honey chipotle, mild, hot, and more). I tend to go for dry rubs and this did not disappoint. The food was good, but we ordered a margarita drink with a "bubbly" bottle off the menu and the waitress had no clue what it was. Then we finally ordered it and requested sugar on the rim and they did salt on both of them. Before that she only brought us one drink to share when we ordered two. Fun place but was expecting better burgers. I picked this restaurant based on a review that put Texas Borders in the top 10 burger joints in Katy, TX. Sorry, but the judges for that poll don't know what they are talking about My family hit the road and wanted to try another burger joint before going grocery shopping but, alas, they were closed on Sunday so I Googled reviews and decided to try Texas Borders. Now, we were seated quickly and greeted/served by a great staff. It seemed like this may be a five star experience. Fried pickles! Really good. However .... My burger was flavorless and poorly put together. The sunny side egg was a hockey puck. Beer selection was good thank goodness and they were showing the Astros game on the screens. Astros were losing, can't blame the restaurant that Altuve struck out, can I?! My daughter says her chicken and pasta dish was really good - sorry I did not note what she ordered. My guess is that if you are drinking beer, watching sports and with a bunch of friends then this may be the place. I'm willing to try that some day. We come here weekly! Always great service by the bartenders and our favorite waitress Karistin. Food is always greasy and hot. Have ordered so many things off the menu and only not liked 1 thing in the years we have been coming. My all time favorites are the grilled wings blackened, chicken teriyaki with broccoli, chicken wrap, chicken fried steak, chicken alfredo with blackened chicken, and also their grilled chicken plate with it blackened. I had almost forgotten about this gem of a restaurant however I'm a pleased I did not. Not only is the service always excellent, prompt, attentive and pleasant but the food is equally delicious. I have had a number of their dishes (i'll get to the hamburger I just had in a moment) and I must tell you that although the menu suffers from the "cuisines of multiple personalities" (Mexican, Cajun, American) there is not one that is better than another. From the Fish Tacos, to the Crawfish, to the Boudin Balls every dish is worth at least a try and very deserving of this 5 star review and if possible more! In any case last night's Jalapeno Burger was really very, very good and worth honorable mention in the Great Hamburgers of Texas. Not only are the fresh grilled Jalapeno's a flavorful addition but when combined with the fresh lettuce, tomato,notable slice of purple onion nestled in between a toasted Jalapeno bun and generous handmade burger an incredibly delicious meal it is accompanied by a filling portion of hot, crisp and perfectly prepared serving of French fries. I likewise had a Michelada (actually 2 since I was not driving) and the waitress made me some fresh coffee for a signature to the meal (I'm a yin yang kinda' guy and had to balance the Michelada's). In any case this is not a restaurant to be overlooked or as it was in my case almost nearly forgotten. It should be a place preserved in the armamentarium of any good Yelper, foodie or for that matter anyone who has the pleasure to be within 30 miles of the Westside of Houston (it's well worth a 30 mile drive or 'down the road' in Texas parlance). read more

Well, today was our last day at Texas Borders. It started out with finding out that one of their long time employees, who worked there for 20 years no longer works there. All because Borders wants to change the "ambiance" of the place. We take it as they want to get rid of the "riff raff". Then mom went to the bathroom and fell on the wet floor and hit her head on the floor and had to ask another patron for help to get back to the table. Not ONE employee approached her to see if she needed help. Is this the way an establishment should be? We will miss the food, but not the poor management. read more
