After a horrific visit at a close by competitor that has USA in their name... this place stood out like a beacon in the night on a foggy night at sea. Upon entering we were immediately greated within 3 seconds. The gentlemen there welcomed us in as if we were familiar family. We approached the counter and I asked them if they did trades and he said yes but it depends on exactly what I was interested in trading. I went back to my vehicle to show them my trade and a little background and they were more than happy to give me close to what I purchased it for as it was only 2 days old from where I originally purchased it from. They happily gave us a small tour of their facilities and showed us some products of interest. They were extremely knowledgeable about every product there as they are also a gunsmith shop so can also do any type of modification allowable. I was extremely happy to hear that they have a 30 days return policy on anything you buy there. Their nearby competitor surely doesn't have that same policy. The customer service is excellent and I was able to make my trade as well as buy new hardware. I'm also happy to announce that they are adding a range early next year right next to them. I love that small shop feel of a place vs the corporate treatment where you're treated only as a number. In fact, whilst I was there another customer walked in complaining about that same nearby competitor and how bad they were with customer service. Clearly they have a reputation that Texas Underground doesn't have and have been the savior of many. This is my official spot going forward for Ammo and Armory. Be secure and Prosper.

The place looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. The parking space is really small. And the neighborhood looks like you may need to be armed. But trust me all of that is truly nitpicky after you get to meet the crew. I haven't fired a firearm in over 10 years and needed to finally get a Texas license. I was immediately welcomed as I came in and it wasn't a plastic "Welcome to WalMart" welcome. I walked around looking at their guns and accessories and their lanes. I was surprised on how many lanes they had. I was still a bit nervous when a female a manager started to talk to me. (Man I really feel like a dummy for not remembering her name. I think it was Sonia). She calmed my nerves and asked all the appropriate questions. She took her time and answered everyone to my satisfaction. I told her that I signed up for their Saturday class but once again told her I was nervous about the required time sequence for the shooting portion. She then told me that I could come back any time before Saturday and that their instructor Nelson would teach me and prepare me for the test. I came the next day and I met with Nelson. Remember that name: NELSON!! He took his time in giving me very clear instructions and told me that if I followed his instructions I could ace the shooting portion. He then tested me and I actually got a 100% score!! This guy is truly AMAZING!!! As I was leaving he reminded me that my lane rental, which included ear and eye protection, was available for the day. I went back with my two 9mm handguns and blew the bulls eye out. Mark my words: I will not go anywhere else but to Marksman Indoor Range. Trust me you will not be disappointed. Next step is that AR-15. That will be for another review.

It was led by…read moreBilly and he made a very serious topic.. fun and easy to digest, considering the lonnnnng amt of hours we had to be there (7:30am - 12:40). Yes, the law portion is a bit boring but Billy tied examples to it as well as a retired police officer (who was talking the class with his daughter) who made it very easy to comprehend for a normal civilian. The range.. well.. that was very interesting lol. The range location we journeyed to was a bit old and for the most part.. something that could've been in a horror movie lol... but it served its purpose and i actually enjoyed the privacy you get in each lane.. due to the concrete walls that extend about 10ft outward. I would definitely recommend this class and definitely recommend Billy. You can't get around the long hours because of the responsibility that comes with being a CHL holder. But, if 7am is too early for you...they have afternoon classes! Thanks again guys! (oh and thanks to Wes for allowing us to reschedule about 4 times with NO issues! :D)

However, some parts of the lecture can…read morechallenge your ability to pay full attention because of the technical legal jargon, but at least they have free coffee to help! The videos and other discussions of techniques and personal stories that were shared also made things more interesting. The classroom is held at La Quinta and the shooting portion is done at Pasadena Gun Center. At first I thought having a class in a hotel was odd, but it turned out to be OK and a closer location for me. The gun center is just five or ten minutes away. If you don't own a gun, you can rent one there for $10 but you have to purchase their own ammo at the range. There were many shooters from beginners to experts and young to old. Some of the students never even shot a gun before but that wasn't uncommon. The price was right for me ($65 after LivingSocial Deal) and I feel like I learned what I needed to know. TIPS: ---------------------------------------- -Bring snacks. They have snack/soda machines and give you time to buy food but ten hours of class is long! -Take your time shooting. Although 2-3 seconds per round sounds like a little, its actually a decent amount of time. Don't rush it.
