Scheduling was a little bit of a problem in that the telephone number given in the email notification goes to an automated system that switches to voice mail after an extended wait on hold. Calls were not returned, so I had to contact Dr Dewar's office at the number I had from a previous visit.

I do wish it was easier getting a quick appointment sometimes but I think the people up front do their best to work you in where and when they can. I literally called everyday for a week trying to schedule an appointment and never received a return call. I even called and spoke to a counter person twice and explained only to be transferred to a voicemail. It's now been two weeks and never received a return call. On a side note I called my personal doctor back and explained what I'd gone thru and was told I could try TDDC Southlake Office. I called twice on consecutive days at 4 pm and 4:05 pm and got their voicemail stating they were closed as it was after their 430pm closing time? I give up!

Instead of coding it as "high-risk surveillance," which my insurance has explicitly confirmed would be covered at 100%, they are insisting on labeling it as a "routine colonoscopy" and demanding $800 upfront. What is especially concerning is that they acknowledge my history of polyps, yet still refuse to use the correct billing classification. This is not a gray area--it is a clear misrepresentation of the medical necessity of the procedure. Attempts to resolve this have been met with complete dysfunction. I have been repeatedly bounced between the Billing and Scheduling departments, each refusing to take responsibility and directing me back to the other. At no point has anyone taken ownership of correcting what is clearly a billing and coding error. I have already confirmed with my insurance company that the procedure would be fully covered if billed correctly. The office's continued refusal to do so raises serious concerns about their billing practices and their commitment to ethical standards. Long story short - I did not get any answers, it felt like anything I said was not heard or understood, and she just kept suggesting different medicines. I asked about endoscopies, etc. to see if they could identify and actual issue rather than just trying new medicine (since I had been doing that), and she said I would have to wait until June or July...keep in mind I have pain after EATING, so I kept saying that will not work.
