Met a friend a friend here for the first time and absolutely loved this place! Walking in, we were warmly welcomed by the girls behind the counter. The first room you enter ...beware ...a large glass display counter that contained home made pastries all made fresh onsite! They even had a few gluten free items. I snatched a gluten free apple streudel and continued onto to the next small room where drinks can be purchased. Found out any drink can be made decaffeinated, sweeet, thank you! Ordered a decaf with oat milk and a few pumps of hazelnut. It was perfect! No after caffeine side effects noted. I also get a glimpse of the kitchen in between the 2 rooms, where all the goodies are made. There are two small indoor rooms with various seating arrangements and seating outdoors. We grabbed a small table for two inside. I thoroughly enjoyed my strudel and coffee. Note: they make and sell their own ground coffee with a special of buy 3 bags and get 1 free. T shirts are available for sale as well. All proceeds from sales goes to local fire and police departments! Come check them out! read more

I love to try local coffee shops when I travel and this one crossed my radar from a friend's social media post. I was surprised to see it was right behind B Daddy's BBQ - which I just went to recently. Their signage isn't too obvious so somehow we must have missed it even as I was thinking it'd be a good area for a coffee shop. We ended up using the location as an excuse to go back out in the area and support both businesses. This spot is small but cute, with indoor and outdoor seating and lots of local beans to buy. There's an extensive specialty coffee/latte menu and a case of pastries - we got three different drinks and shared the cream puff. I'm not a big sweets girlie but enjoyed the cream puff more than expected, the added chocolate kept things interesting. Ironically I felt the drinks were too sweet for my liking. My companions seemed to enjoy their drinks though, and service was fast and friendly. read more

Quaint but cozy coffee shop. Their blueberry danish is very good. The coffee is excellent ( I had the Republic blend). For this decaf drinkers, theirs is also very good, based on my wife's opinion as she is very selective regarding the decaf she prefers. Personnel here are extremely friendly, helpful and kind. First time here and I was excited about ice coffee! I saw everyone coming out with "frappe" style coffees. I don't like super sweet drinks so I opted for an ice coffee with sugar free flavor, half and half, and sweet cream on top. My drink has zero coffee flavor and all syrup flavor. I let the barista know I didn't like my drink and just asked for ice coffee with sweet cream on top. It was some what better, but not something I would try again. My friend had a Turtle drink that was yummy and actually had coffee flavor. So my experience is their specialty drinks are better than just a plain ice coffee. read more

Tried TX Grounds for the 1st time. It's out in Helotes where their monthly Market is (NW side). Wow don't be discouraged by their somewhat high prices; their lovingly handmade pastries are twice the size. Their famous cream puff can easily be split between 4 people. It's a cozy hole in the wall cafe with two small rooms for dining and an outside space as well. I saw people studying and working there midday. The iced coffee Oy with the Toffee Already I substituted one with Oat Milk and one with Almond and unfortunately that's all I tasted. It should have had notes of Toffee and butter pecan. The Coffee at Luke's was a faint taste of pumpkin spice. Not sure if they ran out of flavors but I was really excited to taste these menu. Also was here for the cut outs of Gilmore girls. Stopped by Helotes Saturday afternoon and stumbled upon this coffee shop. It's located inside a historic home which has great history. There were plenty of pastries to try. We went with the lemon blueberry Danish which was absolutely delicious! The pastry does come cold I'm not sure if they warm them up upon request. Regardless, we definitely enjoyed. I also ordered a lemonade which I was told was homemade but it didn't taste like it...my cup was also heavily filled with ice which was a real bummer. They have many coffee drinks which maybe I should have tried instead. There are three different lines for pastries, drinks, and payment so be weary of that. I'm so glad to have found this coffee spot. It's small, but that will not stop me from ever coming back. The ambiance was excellent. It's a cute little coffee shop to come in to get some studying done. As I walked in and to the left of the entrance, I was greeted by tons of pastries. I was amazed at how much there was. They all looked delicious. I was so indecisive, so I ended up ordering more than I should've. But do I regret it? Absolutely. Not. I ended up ordering two lemon blueberry danishes (one to eat right away and the other for my husband), and O.M.G. It was the best danish I have ever had in my life. I wanted to be greedy and eat the one I bought for my husband, but part of me wanted him to try it because he absolutely loves danishes, and well, he's lucky I love him, so I decided to save it for him to try. I also bought my kids a cream puff (holy moly, I was not expecting it to be the size of my head), a triple-layer brownie to try, and I also bought the crumb bun and a sopapilla cheesecake to try later. All were so delicious. I will dream of the lemon blueberry danish until I return for more. It. Was. That. Good. Coffee-wise, I was also indecisive, but ended with an iced toffee pecan, and too be honest, it lacked flavor, so I was a bit disappointed but still drank it, which will not stop me from returning. While I waited for my coffee, I was intrigued to see one of the pastry chefs in action making cream puffs. Super cool to see. I love that they're veteran-owned. Saw this place on TikTok & we were not too far from there today SO We went by. The ladies there are lovely, the parking is great, the atmosphere was great even the seating outside. I wanted to love this place, but l'm gonna be honest... I wanted something caramel. The coffee wasn't as good as thought. For MY taste. wanted, stronger coffee. It was decent, the taste wasn't bad, but it just didn't get no taste of caramel. It just wasn't as strong as I prefer. There was a graininess to it, which that happens if you order Almost milk. But I had oat milk. I went home & added 2 shots of Expresso. My husband didn't like his coffee unfortunately. I'm not going to leave a bad rating of stars. Their coffee is okay, but nothing spectacular. The breakfast sandwiches are so-so. We had the sausage and cheese breakfast sandwich, and the ham and cheese breakfast sandwich. The bread that surrounded each sandwich was very good and very flaky, almost like a croissant. But the innards left much to be desired. The sausage one had two standard grocery store breakfast links and the cheese was just so-so. The ham in the other one was just so-so. It was tasty and filling but definitely not worth $5.50 each (I'd go with an Egg McMuffin over it any time - really). If you go here, just order their delightful bakery items. Skip the coffee and the breakfast sandwiches. The seating inside is very limited and can get crowded, but there is plenty of room outside when the weather is nice. Stay away from the breakfast sandwiches, but make sure you try their blueberry Danish. It is VERY good. Their customer service was excellent and earned them another star. read more

The people here seem very nice, however the product is awful. None of the beans for sale have a roast date on them, so I am unable to tell if they were roasted in the last few days and need a few more to off gas, nor could I tell if they were too stale to buy. The "medium roast" is so dark that the beans are oily. I also ordered a drink when I was there, and they served me the worst one I've gotten this side of an airport vending machine. They serve "double shots" of espresso that are 4 oz in volume, and are watery and bitter. The shot I extracted at home wasn't too much better as the coffee is over-roasted. First timer here, definitely was a good choice. First and foremost the owners there are so WELCOMING it is amazing, they tell you about the building and the coffee you can just tell they take so much pride in their shop and I love it. It was nice and quiet when you first walk in you see the pastries and next to that is the room to order your beverage. I had ordered the Samoan coffee and it was so good literally tasted like the Girl Scouts good and I do order there giant pastry puff and oh my lord it was soo good the chocolate on top was definitely giving delicious sweet chocolate and the filling I could just eat by its self lets me honest. But my overall experience was amazing, can't wait to come back and get another puff. read more

We visited the Old Town Helotes market on Saturday (such a cute market) and I really wanted a Topo Chico. I saw this cute coffee shop and thought I'd pop in to buy one. Once inside, I saw they had so many great options that I ended up with way more than that. I tried some of the gluten free desserts (I'm not gluten free but they looked delicious... and they were scrumptious). I also ordered an iced americano with sugar free pumpkin syrup and it was also sooo good- didn't taste burnt like some americanos do. Lastly, I want to comment on the staff. They were GREAT and so helpful. Not only did they answer all of my questions but they also helped me decide what I wanted (there were too many good options).
