    Blended Blackout

I've stopped here a couple times recently and this place is my new go-to hands down, over the more known coffee chain down the street. The service has been top tier and the drinks are delicious. I've had a couple coffee drinks as well as a fruit smoothie and all of them were good. The blended drinks are smooth and not chunky (like Starbucks). They have an app and rewards program as well. I have not tried any food yet. While not a local business, if you want fast, friendly, and good drinks, this is a good place to stop where you won't be waiting 10 minutes for your order.

Great ambience! I love the different options from bar by window to people watch to comfy big couch type chairs. Baristas were fast to get to me and fast to make my drink. I found out you can do most options sugar free. What a great offer since most places only offer sugar free vanilla...which gets old fast. The jams are great and the wall has intriguing designs that I can stare at for days. Plenty of parking was nice. I'm surprised it's so dead in the morning today. Might be more of a later day spot. Regardless, I'll definitely be back soon to check out their other flavors.

    Hard wooden chairs!

More expensive than Starbucks and the chairs are very uncomfortable wooden seats with all but only 4 leather comfortable chairs. Not a great place to try and sit for a while. I dont understand why any businesss that wants your business would put very uncomfortable furniture in to be used. The food looked just like Starbucks.

Ordered Mexican Mocha to go; for a Sunday afternoon, it was not crowded. Good lighting, music not too loud, so it would be a good place to study/do work. The drink itself was good, not too sweet!

Cute ambiance with literally the sweetest staff! They were incredibly patient with me as I deliberated through my order. The interior has a really cool design, I would only say that the plug situation is a downside as there aren't a whole lot of outlets in the dining room. I also wish the music was a bit lower/more chill so that I could study more effectively- but that's a me thing. I got the Mexican mocha with oat milk and it was delish!

The quest for good coffee continues, which is how I ended at Black Rock Coffee, but sadly, I will not become a regular of this locale. It is located off Blanco in an old Taco Cabana spot. Because it is so close to me, I really was looking forward to tasting their coffee. The place and décor are amazing. It is a large coffee spot, which I can appreciate, because there is plenty of seating. I ordered a plain drip coffee, which was $2.95, a bit cheaper than other coffee spots. The coffee was ok, but not great. Black Rock doesn't have a large selection of pastries, but many coffee places don't, so it isn't a requirement. They also have a drive-through with an opportunity to get coffee on the go. All these acceptable for a good coffee place. There was an issue, however, and it was big enough for me to quickly leave. Background music was incredibly loud. I guess with a name like Black Rock, the music volume should have been a given. I imagine the idea is to play music loudly for patrons to enjoy. For me personally, this concept does not work in a place where I might want to read, do work, study, or have a quiet conversation. At one point, they played a song so loudly, I could barely hear my companion. I can fully understand this not being an issue for some, but my coffee spot needs to be a place where I can enjoy some quiet and take a break. Therefore, Black Rock Coffee is not the place for me.

My dad and I wanted to meet for coffee and figured we'd try somewhere we hadn't been before. As I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised with how cute the interior was! Plus... it wasn't overly crowded which was nice. The volume inside was also not too loud so you could easily carry on a conversation which seems to be a problem at some coffee shops. When going to order, I didn't think their pastries looked as good as I was hoping they would (so I decided not to get one at all) and also wish their menu had a bit more detail. As an example, noting which of their Torani syrups offered were sugar-free. When ordering at the register, I really wanted a hot decaf coffee with SF syrup but that seemed to be more complex than it should've been. The barista came over to help bring clarity and then we were on our way. All of the employees were very friendly and didn't get annoyed with me for my order which was appreciated. Last thing to note is that my drink ended up coming out perfect. I will definitely go back!

Ice in a nitro cold brew? That's a new one. Even said "black with nothing in it".
    Brian F.

This is not the place to come to if you want to concentrate trade or have a conversation. Drive thru looks like the way to go. They play pop and heave beat music at a volume where you need to raise your voice, or wear noice-cancelling earphones. I've been to What's Brewing and even with the pinball gong on, that place is more calming than the club atmosphere here. Ice in a nitro drink...didn't even know that was a thing. Paying an up charge for nitro, only to be watered down with ice. Drive-thru looked to be moving fast. Staff seemed to be enjoying their day. I doubt I'll be coming back to stop-in. Maybe a drive thru stop.

I have been here several times and have had great coffee and pastries each time. The coffee comes out quick after ordering from the friendly staff. This locations is new and great seating and tables so you can relax and chill. I can't wait to go back

The options for coffee isn't as robust as maybe a Starbucks or a Dutch Bros. However, that doesn't detract from the quality of the drinks they make. Black Rock is more like Dutch Bros, but more of a hang out spot that Dutch would be. I generally don't drink coffee, so I ordered the Fuel, which is similar to a refresher from Starbucks or a Rebel from Dutch Bros. From drinks ordering to it being ready took less than 5 minutes. There was no line in front if me at around 11am, but the indoor area had some people. The interior design is very chic with comfortable arm chairs for drinking and chatting. However, upon first glance, there isn't many areas where you could plug in a laptop. Also, the music inside could be a little loud for sensitive hearing people, so working here can be a little hard if you need quiet environments. Overall, a great hangout or a date spot if you're looking for a small snack or topping up on caffeine!

This place is beautiful inside! So much fun and just calming and lively at the same time! The customer service was great, so friendly and fun! They definitely are worth spending the money and time to come check out! I instantly knew I'd be back, but I am so happy that my sugar free breve was even delicious ! Rare to find such a fun vibe and yummy coffee, outside of the downtown areas of towns! I love this place and can't wait to come back!

Great place- friendly people and good coffee. The Mexican Mocha.... Oh my gosh that is good! Have not yet had pastries yet but kolaches are pretty good. Grand opening week so long line for free T-shirt day today (first 250 people) - should have more sensible lines soon. Worth the stop- Recommended!

    First time here
    Deja G.

Black Rock is honestly just fine. It is SUPER expensive, for example...my husband and I got a medium flavored cold brew, medium flavored latte, and a bacon bun and a kolache with a tip and it was almost $30 bucks. That is a dinner out...which is crazy. What this place has going for it is they do have a lot of sugar free flavors, like white mocha and hazelnut, and the ambiance is great. But the music choice (rap) and the price point make me want to only go to this place if I am in the vicinity.

Recommend: Yes…read more Sometimes all you need is a good book, a comfy seat, and an even better latte. I was on the hunt for a cozy spot to read a few chapters when I stumbled across Medina River Coffee. Tucked away in a small shopping center, it's easy to overlook--but don't make that mistake. The vibe is dark and moody in the best way: cozy, calm, and perfect for settling in with a book or getting some work done. My favorite feature was the counter seating along the front window. I claimed a little corner seat where I could soak up some natural light, sip my coffee, and happily disappear into my book. Even with several people inside, it never felt noisy or distracting. The baristas were incredibly friendly and took the time to walk me through their menu and offer recommendations. I ended up ordering the Coco- Ro-Dachio iced latte (coconut, chocolate, and pistachio) and asked for it to be less sweet. They absolutely nailed it--it was smooth, balanced, and let all the flavors shine without tasting like dessert in a cup. I also loved seeing the variety of coffee beans for their different coffees. If you're into trying different coffees, you'll have plenty of options to explore. Prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality and size of the drink. The only minor downside is that parking can be a little tight since it's in a smaller shopping center. On the plus side, they're open until 8 p.m., which makes it a great option whether you're looking for a morning pick-me-up or an evening coffee break. If you're searching for a coffee shop with excellent drinks, friendly baristas, and a peaceful atmosphere to read, work, or simply unwind, Medina River Coffee is absolutely worth checking out.

I had asked if they had pup cups and the barista said she didn't think they had whipped cream, but then excitedly corrected herself. Score! While I didn't see a cortado on the menu, I asked if they could make me one (with an enthusiastic yes!). I also ordered an iced oatchata and a donut, and we then sat outside in the patio. Bucky made friends with everyone in the area. The cortado was very pleasant. It had that "paper cup" taste as most cortados will when served in one, but it was still pretty good. Mild and smooth, and not terribly hot, too. The oatchata was a delight. Super refreshing, and the donut was also great. Bucky also gives 5 stars to the pup cup, to the point where he also ate the cup. They still have a very charming and relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend when the weather isn't brutal.

They have fun signature drinks that are worth trying, but I've had coffee elsewhere that I prefer. Everyone's taste is different, though, and that's just my personal opinion. The food is good, but I do find it a bit pricey for the portion sizes. Because of that, I don't usually order food when I visit. That said, their pastries are fantastic! The banana bread is easily one of my favorites and is a solid 9/10.
