    peanut butter cream pie!!!

I grew up eating here and then adulthood carried me far away. I was recently passing near the area for business and went of my way to visit this iconic southern tier restaurant. It was everything I remembered from its classic looks, tantalizing interior smells, no nonsense manner of doing business, and most importantly, fantastic diner style food. I had a Texas hot, a deluxe cheeseburger, fries with gravy, and a slice of peanut butter cream pie. I wish I'd had room for more food, or enough time to stay for dinner so I could've ordered the fried fish because, after seeing a plate go by, I knew I'd have to have it at some point. Wellsville has changed a lot since my childhood years in the 70s and early 80s...frankly it's lost a good portion of its charm as compared to the nostalgia I hold for it. But the Texas Hot seems to have only gotten better and is well worth the trip from wherever you're reading this at. Don't miss it and make enough time for lunch and dinner.

Avoided this place since I thought it was a unique hot foodie kind of place. Boy was I wrong. Nice traditional diner that services so much more. Staff was friendly, cooks were fast. To fast...they killed my bacon liver and onions. Clean and nice atmosphere. I would go back but next time I'll order something simple.

The 'Garbage Plate'. They call it a Texas Hot platter however.

A fantastic throwback restaurant which serves amazing Texas hots as well as breakfast and daily specials. The interior reminded me of my childhood going out to eat lunch with my grandmother. Just has that 60s early 70s style atmosphere. I had thought I ordered two Texas hots, a side of fries and macaroni salad, but when my plate arrived it was a 'garbage plate'. For those who don't know what a garbage plate is, it's macaroni salad and French fries topped with mustard then topped with two hot dogs and Texas hot sauce (like a meat/chili sauce) and onions. Still, the unique plate was amazing! Very tasty! My wife got the roast pork special with potatoes and gravy. Of course I tasted it! It was also great. I'm giving it 5 stars because our food was fresh, our waitress was nice and the overall appearance of the establishment was nice. We also had four others in our group, but they only had one table that sat more than 4 people from what I could see.

Not sure if it really works but it was cool either way

I really loved the old school vibes of this place and the whole entire town. I have been wanting to try the Texas hots here for years and glad I finally had the chance. I won't say they are my favorite because the "hot sauce" was a little too sweet for me but everyone else loved it. The prices are so reasonable and food comes out super quick. The loaded fries with cheese and the chili were very good as well!

This is a roast beef place. Flip to the back page and you want to try their roast beef entrees. The meat melts in your mouth. I recommend pairing this with their red skinned mash potatoes. I recommend a medium or medium rare to really appreciate the quality of this roast. We also ordered their fish tacos to change variety. get the Haddock for better moisture- mahi was the other option but I find mahi to be sometimes too fishy and dry unless paired with a more "Caribbean" vibe. Haddock holds a fish fry better in the taco. Unfortunately their slaw was not my fav. too sweet. It was like someone added an extra scoop of honey/sugar. I am definitely trying a roast beef sandwich or their ribs next time. Atmosphere was also great. Had that old school old pub feel but the exterior looked modern. Staff were friendly enough- our waitress was on their brisker end but nothing to where it affected our experience. Pricing was also reasonable for the quality of food. it won't break your wallet but probably couldn't eat there daily.

I'll take that one step further and let you know that I lived in Houston TX for 5 years and my friend lived in SC for 7 years, Beef Haus has the best ribs we've ever had in OUR LIVES! Such a cute place! So clean! So welcoming! Amazing Friendly owner, bartenders, and waitresses every single time. Outdoor seating in the summer. Beautiful private room to reserve. Great menu, meats, beer selection, wine selection, cocktails, and desserts. I found them a year ago and I've been back 5 times (I live 92 minutes away and drive there just for them). This place is 100 times better than the shell of what beef and barrel is currently and 20 times better than beef eaters. When you walk in there is a smokehouse feel, there is an outside patio in the front. The two servers looked a little busy but the place had only a few tables full. Do not expect Southern, Texas or Kansas Barbecue We ordered by phone and got a Togo order. I ordered the sampler with smoked turkey, Mac and cheese, and fries and the sides. Well they forgot the Mac and cheese for this... My wife got the beef and cheddar sandwich with Mac salad My daughter got the Mac and cheese bowl. The ribs were a little dry but had good flavor. Well noticed that the "brisket" seemed more like a pressed loaf and sliced fairly thin. The beef and cheddar seem to be the same meat as the "brisket". The smoked turkey also seemed like a pressed loaf and was dry. The Mac and cheese could have been a savior for the rest of the order. I say could have because I did have high hopes. It looked very delicious. They use more than one kind of noodle and it looked amazing. Now the flavor was lacking. Cheddar was the main cheese and that is about the only flavor it had. We didn't try any desserts. I will say the ones I saw on the counter looked very good. I will say for where it's at it is good food. I think my expectations might be set a little high when getting smoked food. I will have to try their pulled pork next time. I am usually hesitant to get pulled pork in PA/NY because they soak it in sauce before they give it to you 99% of the time. That seems just to cover the lack of flavor or the dryness of it. I do recommend everyone to try this place. I might give it another shot with lowered expectations.

Better Days is a somewhat dingy bar that serves cheap food and drinks…read more There are two other locations with bars on Main Street -- Hamar's (total dive) and Beef Haus (more of a restaurant than bar). Better Days is the "middle ground" between those two. I had their wings, which were good (but not great for this region), and are deep-fried in front of you at the bar by the bartenders. There are a variety of different sauces to choose from, I went traditional with the "hot" sauce, which was a standard buffalo sauce. Wings didn't crisp up as much as I generally prefer them, but the sauce was good. No breading, thankfully. I believe breaded wings are verboten in western NY. The service was a bit spotty, e.g. bartenders forgot to provide me with napkins, and were generally distracted, but it was a busy Thursday evening, so maybe they deserve a little slack? No way! Bad bartending grates on me. If you're a beer-pouring, shot-slinging bartender type who is not able to mix decent cocktails, you should at least be on-point with service. One other thing about this place that annoyed me were the low/short bar-stools that were not high enough for a man of average height to eat off of the bar top. I literally was eating my basket of wings off of my lap. Go to Better Days and try to eat something at the bar, and you'll see what I'm talking about. What other options does someone have who is visiting Wellsville? If you've already tried Beef Haus, you're SOL. This is why I don't think that a visit to Better Days is a bad idea if you're in Wellsville for more than a day. If nothing else, it's an affordable dining and drinking option.
