Can't understand the negative reviews based on my experience. I ordered 3 pies, the snickerdoodle, buttermilk and strawberry peach. They were all delicious, however the strawberry peach mislabeled....there was no strawberry whatsoever. It was a great peach pie though, a bit thick on the crust but it was cooked to perfection. I was immediately greeted by a man at the counter who was very friendly and helpful, hours were clearly posted on the door. Also took home 2 small casseroles, the King ranch and chicken tetrazzini. The tetrazzini was amazing, we all agreed it was one of the best we've had. Haven't tried the king ranch yet but looking forward to it. All I can say is if you feel a pie is too sweet, maybe pie isn't your thing and you should stick with scones. read more

I just love this place. I have eaten lunch here, ordered pies from here, and gotten the frozen casseroles to go from here. I have yet to be disappointed except when I see the bottom of my pie tin. My normal lunch is chicken salad sandwich, complete with jalepenos. I've also had their salads and other sandwiches, too. Awesome. read more

The sourdough bread slices were thick! Had coconut cream pie for dessert, so good! I should've ordered a quiche instead though. Seems like I could've made a turkey and Swiss sandwich at home. Pie filling was delicious. We tried Pecan,Dutch Apple and Cherry. The crust left me unimpressed rather mushy not flaky so I don't think it was baked first then filled. My favorite pie place ever!!!! Every time we're in the area, we have to stop here. They have a wide variety of pies and even some quiches. Too bad they tend to run out of flavors. What can I say....I love PIE. We were actually driving thru to get to the salt lick b'que place and while cutting thru we saw the big ole PIE sign. Of course we had to stop on a dime to go inside. As soon as we hit the door, we were greeted by a super friendly guy. The place was just as cute and country as you would think it would be. Pies were plenty, all types and sizes. They also serve a little lunch special every day, we did not have time but they were serving chic-n-dumplings. We will make a trip another time for the lunch. What a rip off. Literally and figuratively. Had the chicken pot pie. The crust was dry and inedible. There was no discernable chicken or potatoes, just a couple of peas and carrots. Tried the blackberry individual pie, again mostly crust, extremely dry. My companions chocolate pecan equally dry. When paying for the meal, i gave him a $20. I got some change a one and a ten. I put that $10 in my coun purse. When I went back to buy the dessert pies, I took the ten out and a $5 and put on the counter. I might have turned away, there were lots if people and 3 counters taking orders. The person packing my pies and taking my money pointed out I had only put a one and five down. I believed him and gave him another $5. But I couldn't understand where the ten went. It was the only ten I had. My companion went through my purse and pockets. The ten was nowhere to be found. The guy taking my money kept lurking around our table, especially when we were try to find the $10. We ascertained that he had switched the $10 for a one while I wasn't looking, as the money was on the counter. So again, rip off both ways. As we left, same guy was coming back in to the store, as we were outside, continuing to try and figure out what had happened to the ten. read more

I use to eat a lot of pies from here when I lived in Kyle and had a major sweet tooth. I fell in love with the blackberry, apple lattice, and coconut cream. However, since I have cleaned up my diet (and, therefore, my palette), I just can't stand the taste of their crust. I moved to Buda and drove to Kyle to get a sweet fix once in a blue moon, craving the coconut cream pie. However, everytime I have tried this (about 7 times since moving to Buda 5 years ago), I can't get past how much their crust tastes like whatever their establishment smells like when you're inside. Not of delicious baked goods, but of chemicals (?), cleaners (?), soap (?). I can't quite place it, but it absolutely ruins the pie, every time. I've read other reviews that think it is either a burnt flavor or the flavor of being frozen and thawed. I just think the flour has absorbed whatever smell the place smells like. It's a shame too because the filling of the coconut cream is still good, but I love pie paired with pie crust to cut through the sweetness ..so, this just doesn't do it for me. read more

Literally the best Chicken Pot Pie ever. My cousin and I called in 2 hours ahead so that we could have it hot and ready, which it was!! We took the dog on a walk then came back and it was still steaming hot! The crust was perfect and everything else about it. We also took home some mini pies which were fabulous. I wish I could leave a review about how great their food is, but I have yet to try it because they are ALWAYS closed. I understand holidays, but I've checked online just to make sure they were open and their website shows they are open, but when we get there, they have a paper sign up telling customers they are closed. This is probably the 3rd time I've either gone or had someone stop by there and they are still closed. This isn't the best way to gain new customers if you're never open. If you're going to be closed, make sure the website is open so people aren't wasting their time and gas driving to your establishment. I've seen great reviews about them, but it's hard to get excited about a business that you never know if they will even be open that day. Very disappointing. read more

The pies are way too sweet. I have a major sweet tooth but when all you taste is sugar, something isn't right. I ordered the chocolate pie and pumpkin pie. I have NEVER given a bad review. Never. These pies were all so bad I felt like I should. We drove to The Texas Pie Company from Cedar Park today and got 2 blueberry mini pies, one regular Strawberry /rhubarb pie and one regular peach pie. I had planned on giving 2 of the pies to friends we were taking a meal to. After my husband and I tried the strawberry /rhubarb pie we were so disgusted and surprised that we felt we had to try the others before giving them to friends. I am so glad we did. I would never knowingly give a pie so terrible to anyone! I took the first bite and spit it out. It tasted like a cloyingly sweet, soggy, thick glue. No exaggeration. I opened up my normal sized slice and counted 2 bits of some grayish pink fruit. I could not tell if it was Strawberry or rhubarb. The rest was all soggy, thick, tasteless glue /filling. All of it! After checking all of the pies, we saw that they are all the same. The top crumble crust was a solid sheet about 1/2 inch thick of sugar and tasteless crumbs, the fillings had almost no fruit at all and had the texture and taste of sugary glue, and the crust on the bottom was so soft it all just melded together, tasting like sweet old glue. Curious, we spooned through the entire rhubarb pie and found only 7 tiny soggy bits of washed out fruit- in the whole pie!!! Typically recipes call for somewhere around 3-5 cups of fruit per pie. I will never go back. $50 wasted. read more
