I used Texas Pies instead of the traditional wedding cake. I saved a ton of money and it was huge hit at the wedding! It also provided our guests with options, as opposed to the typical vanilla. GOOD PIE. if i didnt LOVE pie as much as i do i might give this 5 stars, but like pizza and burritos, i hold pie to a higher standard, and im just not ready to give this 5 stars. the crust was buttery and delicious and for 12$ you get a VERY LARGE pie. if yer in kyle, go get yer pie on ps, my friends favorite is the blackberry, she says theres lots of blackberries in there, but honestly they all look incredible. read more

I was just craving a sandwich. A simple turkey sandwich. Not a sub, not some big bread monstrosity. So, I went to the Texas Pie Company in Kyle. I remembered they have some sort of lunch deal where you get a sandwich, chips and a cookie for a relatively good price. I went in, ordered the turkey/swiss on sourdough, and upgraded the cookie to a piece of chocolate cream pie. It was the best sandwich i've had in a long time, simple, to the point and delicious. Was on our way to Salt Lick when we saw this place next door to Mill ' s bbq. Read both reviews and decided to stop. So after the brisket pecan pie with blue bell ice cream. The pecan pie looks like a Texas grandma made it and it was as good as it looked. The ice cream was Blue Bell. Enough said. My soon had the coconut cream. Flakey scratch crust. Don't let the sign fool you. They have a massive eye-catching sign and huge store front, but once you step inside, it is a bit disappointing. I'm new to the area and couldn't wait to check it out. I bought a cookie & a cupcake. I agree with the previous guy about the service, they glare at you like you are bothering them and they wish you would just go away. Then to top it off, the cupcake (lemon) and the cookie were both extremely dry....Maybe they had been there for a week or so? I threw them both out. So, we made it to The Texas Pie Company before 4 a few Saturdays ago, and I don't get all the hype. The pies are very good if you are in the area, but not amazing enough to schedule a trip to Kyle (well, unless you have a relentless craving for amazing bread pudding - see below). It may be becausewe selected the 4" individual pies instead of a whole pie. I am guessing the crust-streusel-fruit ratio doesn't really do the pies justice; overall there is too much streusel and very little fruit. We had just finished eating too much bbq, so we purchased several of the mini pies and took them home to try. + I love the streusel they use on top of the peach pie, but there are very few peaches (seriously only 2 or 3 slices) in the pie so no peach flavor, it's like eating just lots of doughy stuff. I personally prefer crust with sugar instead of streusel on peach pie (and some peach slices) -- the peach gets 3 stars. + The Dutch apple is really, really good and had lots of apples, unfortunately the streusel on that one is not so good. It leaves a bitter after-taste and we had to scrape it off to eat the pie -- the Dutch apple gets 3 stars (but if it had the topping from the peach pie it absolutely would have gotten 5 stars). + The rhubarb strawberry pie is average. Again, not enough fruit, I also didn't like having streusel topping on rhubarb pie (seemed like an odd combination), and it was missing that sweet/tart balance that makes rhubarb one of my favorite pies. I was disappointed -- the rhubarb strawberry gets 2 stars. + The buttermilk pie was pretty good, but not noteworthy -- the buttermilk gets 4 stars. + The Derby pie (pecan pie with chocolate chips) was very good. It had lots of pecans and was nicely balanced, not too sweet -- the Derby gets 4 stars. + Okay, I saved the very best for last...The Texas Pie Company has to-die-for white chocolate and something bread pudding that has to be in the top 5 best I have ever had! -- the bread pudding gets 5+ stars! I am not sure if they offer slices of the larger pies, and somehow we completely missed the cream pies...so should we find ourselves in Kyle during the limited hours they are open, we will have to return again :-) read more

Good place for their lunch special... I must admit that some of their food is a tad bit bland. But the meatloaf is perfect. Pie is good... Stay away from the small pies, they try to do too much in a little pie. You end up getting more crust than ingredients. The older front desk lady likes to rush you...even if they aren't busy. Rest of the staff is kind. I wonder how busy they would be if they weren't smart enough to put a huge pie in their sign.....great marketing! Decent food. read more

I purchased a Cherry Pie yesterday. It had to be the worst Cherry Pie I have ever had. It was full of crust and tons of fillers. Very little cherries inside. Extremely sweet. I found the product to be very over priced. You are better off buying a Pie from HEB. Much higher quality and you will save a lot of money as well. Great find as we were looking for another restaurant. We stopped to grab a piece of pie and were pleased to discover they had mini-individual pies for sale. I chose peach/raspberry and my husband chose pecan. Both were good. They had plastic forks to eat the pies on the road so we could continue on our trip. I absolutely love the "homey" feel of this place. I have come here for pies for a little over a year now. My favorite is the blackberry- it is awesome!!! I can't speak for the food at this establishment, because I'm in it for the pie. Though the Texas Pie Company is a 40 minute drive from my house, it is totally worth it. I will never make pie again. My husband doesn't really care for sweets, but does love pie. For his birthday I ordered and assortment of 8 mini pies (too many awesome options to choose from), and they were all amazing. He likes fruit, and was really impressed by the strawberry/rhubarb, cherry and blackberry. I was a huge fan of the lemon chess and almond joy. I can't wait for the next occassion for which pie is appropriate - maybe lunch sometime this week. And did I mention the price? 8 "mini pies" for $24. You just can't beat that. read more

After tasting both and enjoying them, I thought I would order several for the tailgate for the UT vs. TCU where I will be spending my Thanksgiving holiday. We recently ordered 280 small little pies (single serving) from the Texas Pie Company for my son's wedding in Kyle, Texas. WOW! Our guests kept asking me where we got such delicious little pies! We got three flavors--blueberry, chocolate topped with pecans and buttermilk. They were a hit and were so cute presented on a long table at multiple levels. The crust was fresh and flakey. We picked them up the day of the wedding and they must have been freshly baked. They would make great party favors too. Julie was great to work with too! Great assortment of pie flavors. Something for everybody. I had the almond joy and my boyfriend has the chocolate fudge pecan pie (incredibly gooey and fudgy), both fantastic. I liked how they had full size pies, smaller/personal sized pies, and single slices depending on how hungry you are.
