They have an awesome lunch special: $6.99 gets you a sandwich, side, and a drink $7.99 gets you Texas style ribtips, 2 sides, and cornbread I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken was very flavorful, but not barbeque-y enough for my taste, but thankfully they have BBQ bottles on the table to help yourself with. The mashed potatoes and gravy were a nice blend and well seasoned. The waitress stated that most of their sides are made in-house. Went here with some friends. Food were decent and the waitress was nice but this restaurant lack many things. We got our food quickly but never got our cornbread. The waitress informed us that it's in the "oven" for nearly 35 mins now ....she also forgot the drinks that we ordered, and other things.... It is a Sunday night, dinner time. I don't understand the negative reviews. My friend and I ate there last evening. She had a pulled pork sandwich and I had the sliced brisket sandwich. Both portions were huge! If you're looking for BBQ that tastes like your family from Texas made it, look no further than BQQ in Lake Forest. Their BBQ is moist, not dry, their sauce is good but not overpowering the meat and the amount of meat for price is awesome! This place can be hard to find though, which would explain the lack of people there when I went for lunch with my co workers. This place has been here since 2007 but you wouldn't know from the lack of reviews! Their BBQ is cooked like how real BBQ is done, not just straight down on the grill but cooked beforehand, and then grilled, so that the meat isn't dry like amateur BBQ is. Cole slaw was fresh & crunchy and not super creamy like nasty cole slaw can be. Fries were like giant In n Out fries, def drier and not super-oily but damn tasty still! Lunch deals are pretty sweet, less than 10 bucks gets you BBQ staright up or in a sandwich plus a side or two! I got a whole bunch of ribs, steamed veggies that were actually good and coleshow for just 8 something! Our server Renee was really good too, kept coming to refill our waters without interrupting us. What is wrong with this place? Their website says they're open. The lights inside were on. The OPEN sign was lit. But they're CLOSED! This was at 11:30 am! Last time I placed a phone order, the woman who answered did NOT speak a lick of English!! She took my order...barely. The ribs were cooked well. I did not ask for any specific bbq sauce. The sauce the ribs came with was just ok. It seemed slightly on the sweet side but with a hint of apple cider. The customer service here is phenomenal. They are so genuinely nice. I usually go in with a Groupon because they are a great deal and they always treat me like I'm placing a $300 order. They are quick, nice and the food is really good. I love the sliced brisket. It's so juicy and not overly fatty. The shredded bbq chicken and pork are both equally great. Good flavor even though I always put more sauce on it. The coleslaw is great. Not too sweet but fresh tasting and good. Potato salad is not my fav and that's why I gave four instead of five stars. I'm also not a huge fan of bbq beans so I'm really not the person to rate those. Overall I would highly recommend this place. read more

We have never tried this place due to it always being empty but we decided maybe this is a hidden hole in the wall treasure. We dined in at Texas pit bbq with still 40 minutes left til close. The food came warm not hot, by the time we were midway food was cold. The corn bread which was probably the best part of the meal was cold. The meat was overly sauced. It felt like they just reheated the old meat that was there just to serve us. The potato salad was flavorless. Not to mention we paid $60 for 2 plates and the side portions were very small. So I can tell you this was made in an oven, not any kind of pit I know of. I can do better on a $20 grill from Walmart drunk on a 12 pack of shiner. Mac n cheese was a waste of money seriously, also jalapeños with cheese? I guess they haven't really had stuffed jalapeños in Texas cuz these reminded me of the ones you get a churches. Just awful...I bought a Groupon and I've been trying to use it for months. I've called several times to make sure they're open...nobody answers. Today I called and then drove over (20 minutes). I got there around 4:30 and the doors were locked. After knocking I finally got someone's attention inside and they motioned that they would be open at 5:00. We were in the area for a concert on 7/17/21 @ 1:38pm and found this on our Google Map. We were excited to have a nice lunch before the concert. Well the food was great, but Grecia at the counter must have been having a really bad day. Her customer service was far from being "friendly". She didn't make us feel welcome to the establishment, hence the empty seats. Also, her hair was not properly covered as she was serving food. A few days late in reviewing, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to commend Erin who was our server that afternoon. I've to admit the food is just so-so. We used a set meal Groupon and between the chicken and the ribs, I can do without the chicken. The coleslaw was bland and the potato salad just ok. Though there was no taste nor texture of corn at all in it, the corn bread was pretty decent, especially when eaten right away while warm. The chipotle BBQ sauce is good. Our server, Erin, made the experience very pleasant though. She was cheery and anticipated everything we needed. I thought it was a very nice touch when she gave us heated up wet paper napkins to wipe our fingers with after a bit of a messy meal to make up for the lack of wet wipes. Texas BBQ has the potential to be awesome but somehow they just don't get it. As I walked up to the counter I received no greeting what-so-ever but, "are you ready?" Okaaay, so then I was asked if it was to be take-out or dine-in, I said dine-in and was told I could sit anywhere and a menu would be brought to me. We ordered the ribs a-la-cart with a couple of sides. While we were waiting we munched on their awesome cornbread (no butter). The ribs arrived pretty quickly and the portion was HUGE and plentiful but they were just barely warm to the touch. Anyone who eats ribs knows there is going to be fat involved so eating cold fat is just not an option. We had them reheat them and they were better but we felt like the thrill was gone by the time they returned to our table so we took the rest home to reheat later. Not a good experience. There were 3 people in the restaurant when I went in to pick up my online order: the host at the front, and 2 people at a table to my right. I got my order and the presentation was poor, but I didn't mind that much. All of the counters were perfectly clean... in a bad way. It didn't look like they did any cooking on the counters. I look at my brisket and it had a light colored sauce on top of it (I did not ask for any sauce). I ask the employee what's on top of the brisket and she says "I think barbecue sauce." I let them know that last time I was there the meat was dry (day old) and I asked them if this was going to be better...it wasn't. They are "consistent" in how they do things. They will always have dry meat from yesterday that is reheated prior to you eating it..and don't even think about eating it as "leftovers" (that's when it really gets bad/dry). The food is great and it's a really good bang for your buck. So much so that you actually get more food for less or the same amount as your would at some chain fast food place. Apart from that they're very nice and they always try their best for you. Whether its correcting an order and making the best of it or being conscious of any long wait time. Today was sadly a much different experience. The service was not very friendly or welcoming and the food was no longer good. For as empty as the restaurant was, the food came out warm, not hot.
