Breaking my rules by submitting a review for a chain, but Texas Roadhouse is always consistently good. Abilene has 2 "upscale" steakhouses in Perini Ranch and the Beehive, but after my last visits at those establishments I think I'm just going to stick to Roadhouse. The Chili is amazing, and my NY Strip is always great. I can only recall one visit where the quality was sub par. Last visit was Aug 5th and our server Michelle was on point! The service was amazing! We were greeted by everyone at the front and were seated right away, we requested a booth and they were able to accommodate us no questions asked. The food was great as well; perfect for date night. I had the chopped steak and it was excellent! The only thing that bothered me is the loaded sweet potato. Ate there Friday evening. We went early hoping to beat the crowd. No such luck, but we were seated right away. The wait staff was courteous, and very efficient. They were propmt without hovering which was a feat in itself as every station was packed. Steaks we're excellent, cooked exactly as we ordered. Our server was apparently not interested in her job.we waited a good 10 minutes to see her and then drinks were slow to come and she never refilled any. Our steaks were just ok and the sides were not great. I think she had let the meals sit for a while before bringing to our table because of the temp. I've always enjoyed Texas Roadhouse and I always will but an experience last week will deter me from dining at the Abilene location. The waitress I had was soooo BAD. Cold, no emotion, verbally short, just very unpleasant. I asked for coffee so instead of making a fresh pot like she said that she might have to do, she brought me what had been sitting there all afternoon. It was barely warm enough to drink but I was desperately needing caffeine. When I needed a refill she was MIA, again. I finally see her and I ask for a fresh cup and she actually says, "Yeah I'll get to it in a minute" and kept walking. Oh really... ok. The food was good, as usual, but bad service just ruins the whole experience at any restaurant. I wanted to speak to management about this but I observed the manager, a 30 something male, openly flirting around with the young pretty female waitresses. I knew at that moment that with such a low level of professionalism being displayed by management, making a complaint right then about a bad waitress would just be ignored. Our server was not attentive to us at all and we had to ask for refills every time our drinks were empty and she would come back by 4 or 5 times before she would get them to us. We were not brought rolls until right before our food came out despite asking for them twice. Texas Roadhouse is great almost anywhere you go. We went on 12/2/17. I enjoyed the 16oz sirloin and sides. Great food done right. Best steak house around and that includes the Perini ranch. Texas Roadhouse does sirloin!!!!! A lot of places have one or two choices on sirloin, if any. TRH has 4 or more. Great wait staff, clean and neat restaurant. I must say the place is very cramped and hard for someone in a wheelchair to navigate but overall A great place for A great steak! read more

I used TRH Abilene to cater our family reunion this past weekend. Since the meal was at lunch, I was able to use the Early Dine menu to feed 70 people. The food was one the top excellent and I was so pleased to hear form all the family that the thought the meal was the best we had had ever, it was also the cheapest way to cater. The food was packaged in such a convenient way that pick up and preparation was a simple task to feed 70 people. We had made other plans and had to make last minute changes and it was no problem at all for TRH to accommodate me. Thank you TRH Abilene! read more

Of the chain steak places here in Abilene, this is my favorite. I wish I could tell you why but I think it's the overall atmosphere and the fact that I can pick my own steak if I want. I like perusing the selections and then designating that special cut of meat that will be soon making it's new home in my belly--rare as can be of course. Worst experience at a Texas Roadhouse yet. First, we let the waitress know that my husband is highly allergic to garlic, and ask that the garlic buttery sauce not be put on my shrimp and rice so he could have some as well. The food gets brought to us with the sauce on the side, which I stated when she asked not to bring it at all, and it had spilled all over the food. This resturant is great! The waiters are usually very attentive and kind. Once, there were a few waiters being very loud towards the back of the resturant. I'm assuming they were on break. However, every other time I have been very please with the services here. The food is delicious. Like before, there was one occasion when my steak wasn't cooked the way I had wanted, but everyone makes mistakes. My family and I go almost every weekend and only a couple times has there been something unpleasant. So, I still give it 5 stars. read more

I understand COVID makes things difficult, BUT there is no reason for the staff to be as rude as they are. Our Server Rachel was amazing. But apparently everyone else in the restaurant didn't get the memo customers are there to be served not snapped at. And the "Save time Call ahead" slogan on the door is a joke. Called ahead and checked in as soon as we got here and still waited 1 hr to be allowed to sit in the door for another 10 min while they cleaned the table so we could be seated. I'm normally easy going and don't leave reviews but after being seated and told oh your appetizers will take over 30 minutes to get and we don't have ice so the drinks will be cool, not cold, well I went to the App Store and downloaded the Yelp app just to leave this review. I don't mind waiting but let us know here's the wait time and we are having some issues with ice and some appetizers. Instead of waiting until the customer is seated before informing them.. rant over but this will be the last time my family visits this location I know it doesn't mean anything but it makes me feel better.... read more
