Not usually one to do chain restaurants, let alone frequent them but Texas Roadhouse is a nice little guilty pleasure of mine. A number of things keep us coming back but value is certainly one of the bigger reason. Prices are affordable for the quality and quantity you get. The cactus blossom is always a solid start. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a photo of my Ribeye and Pork Ribs but both were fantastic on my most recent visit. The line dancing and singing is a little obnoxious but I can't really complain considering I know what I'm getting into. As a fan of craft beer, they kind of lack a selection here but I know that's not their thing so I can't really complain about that either. read more

We came here on a whim to celebrate some good news. I'd never been before and this visit exceeded my expectations. The host staff were unpleasant, but our waitress was friendly and energetic. Her timing was pretty spot on even as the dinner rush slowed down. The portion sizes were ginormous! We found ourselves eating about half of whatever was in front of us. My fiancé only got through about 1/4 of his steak before tapping out lol. I've never seen him not finish his plate... The pricing is comparable to other chain steak houses. It's rustic and a little loud, but we were able to enjoy our conversation. Outback is normally our go to, but I wouldn't hesitate to return for another tasty steak dinner. read more

I went to this Texas Roadhouse located on the Southwest side of Cedar Rapids and had a good experience. I've never actually had a bad experience when eating at a Texas Roadhouse. This time I was with family and it was decently busy, as we went there for dinner. We had reservations so we got seated by our waitress very quickly once we got there, which was nice. It was busy, so they were backed up on getting their bread and Amazing cinnamon butter. It took awhile for the kitchen to catch up, so we waited at least 15 minutes for bread, but it was worth it. I enjoyed one of their frozen Mango Margaritas along with an 8oz sirloin cooked to medium with perfection and a Caesar Salad and sweet potato. Everything was delicious! The others at my table didn't like the delay on the bread, but were very satisfied with everything else. Overall, Texas Roadhouse is always a decent place to stop for a good meal! read more

If I could give a zero I would! Staff/Manager is super unprofessional with the exception of the host who took us to our seats. My girlfriend ordered an alcoholic beverage and the waitress asked for her ID. She looked at the ID and my girlfriend and then asked if she really was 21. she then left to get our drinks. She came back and brought me my lemonade and then said that she was not comfortable serving her alcohol and that she could get another beverage without alcohol or speak to the manager. Obviously, we opted to speak to the manager. the manager came and asked what the problem was and we said the waitress didnt want to serve her an alcoholic drink. he then said that the waitress didn't feel comfortable because the waitress had a friend who had a fake ID and so she thought my girlfriends was also fake. He said she was doing her job and it felt like we were arguing with him about the fact that we felt she was being disrespectful. Anyways, we left and came to Cheddars. Texas Roadhouse is a Sunday tradition in our house. We go almost every weekend after church and enjoy a cooked to order steak. As someone who lives a low carb lifestyle, Texas Roadhouse is a ketonians dream. They have every cut of steak from lean to fatty and they are cooked to your exact liking. They have cold, crispy salads, low carb and regular sides, a variety of chicken options, burgers, the best loaded mashed and sweet potatoes and the sweetest most chewy rolls you're likely to find anywhere. The service here is also always top notch. If your steak is not done how you want it, they will graciously take it back and make it right, even if that means firing you up a whole new steak. The one time this happened (because they get it right 99.9% of the time) we were even allowed to keep our overcooked steak to take home to our dog or toss into steak and eggs the next morning. It was nice to know that it wasnt just going to be thrown in the garbage. In the past I know that service and cleanliness has been a topic for discussion, but I can tell you, as someone who is a true regular here, this place is always clean and the food is always hot and tasty. I definitely recommend that you make a trip to Texas if you haven't done so in a while... Get the Ft. Worth Ribeye... Its the best steak you'll ever have. read more

I was in town for a work related task and I decided to head to Texas Roadhose TRH not knowing anything about them. But the best I did before heading out was I reserved a table which saved us hours. There were so many people was waiting outside. The place was jammed with people. Our waiter was a sweet girl named Tessie. She was so helpful as this was our first time at TRH. I have to say when we go in for a sit down meal our prime is great. Everytime we order it to go they seem to make the cuts smaller and forget items that were paid for. So for fun we ordered the 2 16oz prime with loaded potatoes and a salad. The primes are NOT 16oz they are small... have video and pictures. They didnt put dressing in the salad but this time we actually got a salad so that's a plus. The take home ordering seems to lose all ambition from the workers. No tip, no worries, I suppose. I'm very disappointed that when we pay good money for a cut of meat that we are shorted all the time. We will be searching for a new place to order food I believe. This is inexcusable! read more

Went last night for Dinner. Our waitress was a delight. The guest of honor is a regular there. I love them having plexi glass up for covid it actually kept our conversation at the table more private. My wish is that the table to booth spacing was a little better. We had 6 adults at a booth. I am pretty petite and my back was killing me from the booth and there was no place for my purse. As for the meal my steak was done perfect but the others were overdone. If I could request one thing it would be to space out those booths I stayed up late last night in pain and seen a chiropractor today. read more

The service was excellent here and that's what stands out to me, more than the food honestly. If anything, I wish the server would've checked in on us less, and let us enjoy our meal more, but it's better than being neglected. I'm airways a little disappointed when I go into these places and there's not more barbecue options like brisket. Nor are there a bunch of bbq sauce options. The ribeye steak was pretty good. Not amazing marbling (fat mixed throughout the steak) but was concentrated around the outside, and had to spit out a lot. But they did cook it correctly and it was still pretty tasty and a good deal for the price - we are in Iowa after all! The green beans were a little oddly flavored in the juice they were sitting in. Somethings were better than others. I tried out the Texas Roadhouse on a business trip to Cedar Rapids. Since I was there with the evening crowd, I ate at the bar. I liked that I was greeted when I came in. I didn't like the look of disdain when I informed them that I was there by myself. Hmmmm I"m a business traveller with an expense account. You should be happy to see me. I also liked how the cuts of meat are displayed at the butchers window when you arrive. Again back at the bar. I had a friendly waitress, and met two fellow Canadians also there on business. We found out that I went to high school in the town over from where one of them was from. Small world. So a positiive, in my books. I ordered the prime rib with veggies and salad as my two sides. Both of those went over fine. I don't drink anything when I have to drive, so just soda this evening. I was a little disappointed with the prime rib. I had ordered it medium-rare. It showed up looking rare. Literally just a couple of mm's (1/16th of an inch) of the steak was brown. I don't send food back, unless its grossly wrong, since I have friends in food service who tell me the horror stories... I likely will not repeat. read more

This review regards my most recent experience at TRH. Not very impressed with the call-ahead seating procedure. Tried to call about an hour ahead, and were told to call back within 30 minutes of arrival. So I did that and called ahead for 6 people, asking for a table since we had 6 adults. Was told a booth would suffice, but I had my doubts. If you have 6 adults a booth is not the best option, ask for a table. On arrival was seated promptly, and drink order was taken promptly. Server was relatively polite. 6 people, were given one basket of bread. Caesar Salad was just ok, nothing special. Food arrived, I ordered the rib-eye and shrimp combo. The steak was just so-so, I've had better even at this TRH. Nobody else complained about their food or mentioned that it was wonderful. Asked for another basket of rolls, it never came. About midway through the meal, I couldn't find the server anywhere in the vicinity. It was a Thursday evening, and it was by no means crowded. I was there last night. I was at the bar eating when a piece of steak became trapped in my throat. I went to the restroom, where there was an employee. I asked him to do the hiemlick on me. He didn't know how. I asked him to get someone. I was coughing and choking with no help from customers or staff. I moved it enough to breath a little. I was in there for 7 or 8 minutes and no assistance ever arrived. I thought every restaurant had someone. But no avail. I finally got the piece of steak out. Calling ahead to put your name in was definitely a good tip. When we called at 6:50 on a Saturday night it was estimated 55-65 minutes. We checked in at 7:50 and our number came up within 5 minutes! I just don't get why there's always a line here in the first place. It's just not very good and with plenty of great locally owned restaurants, why put up with the wait for a typical chain experience? Chains like this remind me of Disney World where people line up like lemmings for over-priced, tacky themed crap. No wonder they make fun of Americans in the rest of the world, we're suckers! I had the 8 oz. sirloin and thought it was pretty run of the mill and little favor. Ditto for the Caesar salad - pre-cut romaine lettuce right from the bag, a few croutons and Caesar dressing right out of the bottle. I'm sorry to say I wasn't even impressed with the bread which obviously isn't homemade. It looked like a brown 'n serve type of deal. If you want a decent steak and a genuine local experience (with genuine tackiness) I would suggest TJ's Steakhouse on 6th St. SW. You get an honest meal from people who own the place, little wait time and a great value. Or even better, for what your tab will come to at TRH, you could have a full dinner at Ced-Rel Supper Club and get a much better steak with all the trimmings in an authentic 60's-style experience that isn't at all a Disney chain store fantasy. read more

Every time I travel to this part of the country I always try to eat at Redneck Roadhouse. Compared to all the other cheapo steakhouse chains, they have by far the best steaks. Nice simple seasoning, salt & pepper. Good marbling on the ribeye, great texture for a Choice steak. Broiled, not fried, always a nice char on the steak. Cesar salad is OK, nothing to write home about. Same for the potato, although once I think I had the sweet potato and it was good. Service is a little over the top - I'm used to the understated service you get in LA. Here they ask you something every five seconds - yall need anything, yall want some mushrooms or onions, everything ok for yall, yall still doin good. As is typical in this part of the country, the steak was way overcooked. But even at Medium Well (I ordered Med-rare) it was still really juicy. So no need to send it back, and plus it's so cheap, it's really not worth it. Not Prime steaks, but I'll be honest, steaks at Redneck Roadhouse actually taste better in my opinion than Flemings or most of the Chop Houses out there. Not quite as good as the Palm, but again that's 28 day dry aged Prime beef and you're paying $70 bucks a plate. That said, Redneck Roadhouse is well worth the money. You can walk out of there stuffed for like $20 bucks! Side note - just like all the cheapo chains they don't take reservations. Save that hour of your life that you will never get back, and sit at the bar. read more

We ordered Texas Roadhouse for Christmas Eve dinner. It was my first meal of the day, and I was pretty hungry so I downed my half rack of ribs pretty fast. I just spent the entirety of my Christmas Day laying on the bathroom floor, violently throwing up anything that I tried to hydrate myself with. For a place that cares so much about Covid, none of the servers wear masks, and there is no legit distance besides maybe the plexi glass barriers. Honestly doesn't do much. Plus the restaurant is usually packed with very limited staff leaving stressed waitresses that happen to have an attitude occasionally. I did mention this to the waitress, she offered to recook, but I just added steak sauce. But when trying to chew it, it was extremely tough and grisselly. " I went into this place ready and willing to spend a decent amount of money -- but it's like the place was yelling at me " No , No , Noooooooooo " Steve Carrel style via The Office. It took our table of 2, 35 minutes to get sat after being told it would be a 15 minute wait. Server did promptly get our drink order which was a margarita with an extra kicker of patron and two waters. The waitress came back 15 minutes later, dropped off the margarita and one water when I again asked for a water. She apologized and asked off. If your looking for a quick but not so cheap buzz , go order a single margarita from this place. I thought I might grow gills because I was swimming in tequila. Maybe the most tequila heavy margarita I ever had -- it was literally the only thing that I could taste. Made the kicker kind of worthless but considering how the service and food was, it helped me in the end and I was thankful it was there. We ran out of rolls before we had our entree order taken (roughly 20 minutes), we asked for more at the same time we ordered our entrees and never got them. The Caesar salad was OK but calling it a Caesar salad is a bit misleading because it looked and tasted as dry as my buddies dinner salad that didn't have any dressing on it. I felt honored to get that cruton and a half on there too -- I was so spoiled *blush* . The mashed potatoes too, were just okay. The gravy had the consistency and appearance of the stuff I drop in the toilet after eating a large portion of Indian food. Steak was tasteless but cooked well -- although it should have been, because the cook had cut it open to check for doneness before it was actually done. It mostly bled out any flavor it potentially once had but it even lacked salt and pepper. Emeril that ***** up, BAM! But I'm sure the grease trap enjoyed the flavor my steak lost. Went here because we knew it was a solid food choice. Nothing fancy, or unique, just a chain. After sitting down, ordering drinks and an onion blossom, things went downhill. Our waitress, Mallory, brought us more bread and our drinks. Not after a long, our entrées arrive......no blossom. I had to explain to her to cancel it due to it not arriving as an appetizer. And then I asked her for mustard. (Mind you, I asked for it when I placed my order because this isn't my first rodeo ordering a burger here). She brought out honey mustard. I then asked her for just regular yellow mustard and was told, "sorry, that's all we have." Are you fu@king kidding me?!?!? She walked off and with in 10 seconds, my girlfriend says that there is a bottle on the wait stand right behind me!!!!!!
