Whoever the chef is here goes crazy with the salt; it's not like other Texas Roadhouse restaurants. I think they teach their cooks to put waaay to much seasoning on their food. The standard items that I order at other chain locations are inedible at this location. Went here because we knew it was a solid food choice. Nothing fancy, or unique, just a chain. After sitting down, ordering drinks and an onion blossom, things went downhill. Our waitress, Mallory, brought us more bread and our drinks. Not after a long, our entrées arrive......no blossom. I had to explain to her to cancel it due to it not arriving as an appetizer. And then I asked her for mustard. (Mind you, I asked for it when I placed my order because this isn't my first rodeo ordering a burger here). She brought out honey mustard. I then asked her for just regular yellow mustard and was told, "sorry, that's all we have." Are you fu@king kidding me?!?!? She walked off and with in 10 seconds, my girlfriend says that there is a bottle on the wait stand right behind me!!!!!! They have a great steakhouse salad. I enjoy their steaks and house salad too. Ribs are very good. I've eaten here many times. Almost always very busy. After 4pm you might want to use call ahead seating. read more

Not much explanation needed. Hands down best steakhouse in Cedar Rapids. The service is top notch. The prices are good. The food is delicious. We try to make it a ritual to come in every Friday (if we miss a week they notice). They know us by name. We usually sit at the bar where the bartenders are always quick to get our favorites without having to ask. We have met so many others sitting at the bar that say they come in for the same reasons. They make us feel right at home. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience whether we sit at the bar or at a table. read more

I have been here many time but today the place was a mess. I asked to have our table wiped down and she came back with a dry rag. There was dust so thick on the top of the divider that I could right my name in it. My husband went to the restroom and ok me of the toilets had run over all over the floor. The toilet was.plugged. We normally order "take out". I'm older and it's a little too much "atmosphere" (noise) for me. We like the "Road Kill" meal. Ground beef burger patty with lots of melted cheese and mushrooms. A salad, rolls, and baked potato round out a good meal. $7-$9. No drink or tip to add. Wife and I normally share the meal. It's plenty. We brag it up so often, our kids give us Christmas Gift cards to this place, so you know we like it. :o) For the bigger appetite they have a great onion appetizer. Love the food, don't like the call ahead. We used the call the call ahead and told them we needed a table, not a booth, for one in our party had a wheelchair. Didn't mind waiting, was upset that even when we got there, told them we needed a table, they still tried to stick us at a booth. Manager got informed and we waited longer and got the table. Need better people running the seating/call ahead. Why have our beeper go off, just to stand in the way of everybody going in and out, servers too, and wait even longer for table. I eat here a lot. And its almost always great! My last visit however was bad. I know with the Covid and all that wait times are long and I except that. My visit Friday evening was terrible to say the least. The rolls were hard and over baked. Weren't even warm like usual. I ordered what I normally do a 8 oz. New York Strip medIum well. What they brought me I'm not sure. It was round prob circumference of a baseball very thin and cooked way to long. Outside was black no pink in middle and tuff. I asked waiter and helper if they thought it looked medium well and they both said it looked way way overcooked. It was burnt! They didn't even know what cut it was! The waiter said ill get you another and I said a 8 ounce Strip this time. It took forever to get the next one and waiter said Manager would bring it out. No manager but steak was what I normally get and cooked perfect. Service was average at best. I will go back but this is the 2nd visit out of probably 100 that was bad and I felt it needed to be shared!! read more

We order from this restaurant once per week. We love the food and that is why we have ignored the several negative customer service experiences over the past few years. When I contacted the managing partner to voice my concern about our most recent curbside pickup experience (food came out 30 minutes after it was promised) he was unavailable and excuses were made by the key operator manager as to why this happened. I left several messages to have my call returned by the managing partner. I called every day for a week, and when I finally reached him and explained my concern, I was told to "give them some leeway" as they are "understaffed and overworked" and that "food may be delayed by a few minutes". During our conversation, he was condescending, rude, and disrespectful. We will never go back based not only on our most recent experience, but most specifically for the way he treated a repeat customer. read more

Last night we went to TR for the first time in ages. Had a free appetizer coupon, and have not been there in a while. My husband ordered Prime Rib, (which he loves). Did pay much attention when he got it, but he did miss au jus. Then he really looked and noticed it was not a piece of prime rib, but a ribeye steak (noticed the grill marks). Called our waiter Andrew over and he quickly took care of it and got my husband the prime rib he ordered. Not only did they make the order right but they took the charge for his prime rib off the bill! Was asked many times if everything was okay, and if we needed anything. I think in my opinion that this place is a one star restraunt but the food wasent great but the bread was good so i also said 2 stars. the service there was bad because first of all we had to wait 40-55 minutes just to sit down and dont forget the time it takes to order and have the food to get to the table. Great service. Great food. Our server was a tiny girl named Kaylee sweet as could be. So glad we called ahead for seating because last time we waited 40 minutes and that was a Tuesday night, this time we walked in got seated and our drinks order taken all within 10 minutes. The place was packed. My partner and I had the Road Kill which is just chopped steak and we always like it. My brother had a full rack of ribs and let me taste them. AMAZING! His girlfriend had a 10 ounce ribeye and was happy with that. The green beans are out of this world and the baked sweet potato was not only huge but really good. Then there are those baskets of rolls with the cinnamon butter. I could eat just those without the butter and feel content. We had two orders of the chili, bowls, and an order of beef tips. It took a while for the food to come out. The waitress stopped by to say the kitchen was backed up. When the food did come out the chili was skinned over like it was prepared right away and sat until the beef tips were ready. The bowls were only half full also. The waitress was apparently over worked and not feeling it anymore. The whole experience was less than then good, had better at other Texas road houses. One thing I will say if you're planning on going here, it might pay to call ahead on a Friday at 5 p.m. or Saturday the parking lot is full and people are parking in the theater parking lot next door. The wait for us was 45 minutes! But there are places to sit after a few people get seated so you can snack on Peanuts while you're waiting. The sirloin tip meal is very delicious and tender! The 8-ounce sirloin sometimes is a hit and miss. During my last visit a medium well was not tender at all. Chewy and almost inedible. It was nice to see a manager come to the table because most of the time we never have had that happen. We never asked to see a manager she just wanted to make sure everything was satisfactory and making the rounds. I'm glad she did. Meals are reasonably priced too. The food was good with the exception that we had to send a steak back that we'd asked to be cooked well done and it came to us rare. This is directed at only Take Out, which this was my first time. I called and was on hold for 7mins before someone took my order. Ordered and was told 15 to 20mins (time then was 6:03pm). Nothing wrong with that; I fall for the same stunt down at Famous Dave's. Thing is, I'm just not a big steak fan, so I'm biased. When I went with some friends this weekend, I ordered their half-rib platter, which was very good. I was pleasantly surprised. The sides seemed a little skimpy, but I can overlook that. Two friends ordered a pork chop, which was on the short side of tiny. The service was very good, and the pails of peanuts set the right mood. TRH is a chain. TRH is about fantasy (I especially like the Disneyland analogy). Having said that, it is a notch above average in spite of its chain status, hence the 4th star.. The food: The steaks are actually pretty good. The best I've ever had? No. Still good? Yes. I'm a big fan of the Porterhouse and Ribeye. The side dishes are merely acceptable. Not great, but not terrible. The service: Meh, a bit over the top. I don't like places where the person who delivers the food is not my server. Too easy to screw things up that way. Plus, it makes me feel less inclined to tip the server well because they're not... you know... actually serving. Calling ahead to save wait time is crucial. TRH is good, but not an hour wait good. The only place that good is, well... Disneyland. Prices: I don't think they're cheap at all, but after reading many reviewers on here, maybe I'm the one that is cheap. Had dinner at Texas Roadhouse for the 2nd time this week. Both times the food was either bland, not cooked to the temperature ordered, not prepared right, or tasted weird. For example, the blossom was not spicy like we expected, a med-well steak came out rare, and ceasar salads had way too much dressing. They provide a lot of food, but go somewhere else if you want good food, at least until they fix their kitchen issues and return to their former quality of food. read more
