We had a wonderful server ( Bayleigh) but our porterhouse was medium on one side and rare on the other .

The first time we stopped here, they told us it would be over an hour wait so we decided to try it again some other time. They told us about their call ahead seating or waitlist on their app so we tried that the second time around and that worked out much better. The app tells you how long the approximate wait will be so you can put your name on the waitlist and they tell you what time to show up by. That worked out great and we were seated not long after we showed up. My husband and I usually avoid chain restaurants as we feel like the food quality and flavors are usually lacking compared to locally-owned restaurants, but I had a gift card I won from work and wanted to use it up. We really liked that they gave us a basket of hot rolls and cinnamon honey butter to go with it. They tasted really great. I ordered the 12 oz. New York Strip steak and my husband got a slab of ribs. The entrees came with two sides. I got mashed potatoes and a house salad and my husband got apple sauce and mashed potatoes with gravy. The food was decent but there was nothing special about it. I will say, they did a great job of cooking my well done steak without it being hard or dried out but feel like I've had better steak at other places. My husband said his ribs were pretty good but they weren't as fall-off-the-bone tender as some he's had at other places we've been to. Plus, the sauce was kind of bland and not spicy. I was going to give this review three stars but we were both really impressed with the service so I added a 1/2 star. Our waitress came over several times to make sure everything was good and there wasn't anything we needed. Every employee we came in contact with was very friendly and really seemed like they wanted us to enjoy our meal. As we were leaving we passed by three different servers in different areas of the restaurant and they all thanked us for stopping in and wished us a good night. That is something you don't see in most chain restaurants. It was kind of loud in the restaurant but it's a pretty big place with a lot of people in it, so that's not unexpected. The prices are very reasonable for what you get but there wasn't anything noteworthy about the food to tempt me to come back. If you're looking for steak or ribs at a decent price and aren't super picky, you might enjoy this place. For me, I think I would rather stick by my local favorites.

Beware of foreign objects in your food. Ordered to go American cheese burger had a hard plastic object in it. Poked hole in my mouth. Burger was also well done when medium rare was ordered.

Monday Night Texas Roadhouse Birthday Dinner with family. It was pretty great! First timer here and didn't know what to expect. It was a packed restaurant for a Monday night 7:00pm. Ordered a couple 6 oz sirloins, Fort Worth Ribeye and a bone in ribeye. Asked for dairy free options and our server was very accommodating. Asked for bread to be without butter and they were happy to serve. Everything was delicious and cooked as expected. We asked our server how the chefs cook their steaks and she knew how to accommodate to our steak redness. Our server was very knowledgeable and excellent. The only part that could have used some work was the check out. It took 40 min to get checked out due to having to wait on our server to get back to us. Total for four adults was $107.xx before gratuity. They honor veterans discount! Other than that it was good.

    Burnt old baked potato without

This restaurant cannot get a baked potato without burning it . The old potatoes we got with our meal should have to be eaten by the cook that served it. All the cooks have to do is not serve any item they would not eat themself or be proud serving to your grandmother.

Sad baked potato served to my wife.

The Texas Roadhouse in Johnston has gone way downhill.Servers that don't want to be there, slow service at 2:30 in the afternoon, and food only the flies like and there were plenty of flies . The baked potato my wife was served was not fit to eat . We spoke to the manager and he agreed the flies were bad and the potato was not for human consumption. He did remove 1/2our bill but the flies were worse than a picnic. Wow lots needs to be done to get better.

Update review. Food this visit was cooked exactly as we had ordered. Server Cynthia was spot on and attentive.

We'll we were welcomed into Texas Roadhouse sat with no rolls unlike normal even though we saw some ready. The server tried her best but our drinks were left empty and We finally got our food and I had a metal shaving that cut my mouth in my potatoes but we still got charged full price. Pretty disappointed and will be going to the Altoona location instead from here on out. The manager never spoke to us about the item in my food or even apologized about what happened.

We come out here often if we can make it early. The steaks are wonderful which is why it can be a challenge to get in. If you get there past five pm plan on waiting. We try to get there as close to 4 as possible, the rolls are fresh & hot. The staff are attentive & always have a smile. The Johnston location has fried mushrooms! As usual a great meal!

Our night got off to a poor start because our table wasn't waited on for the first 20 minutes as there must have been confusion regarding who had the table. Eric, our eventual server, tried to salvage us, but we were no longer captured by the venue due to the delay. Enjoyed my Chicken Tortellini, liked sampling some of my fellow family members' dishes. It changed ownership in early 2015 when two previous employees purchased the steakhouse from the original owner. For me it's the quintessential steakhouse in the metro... That's not to knock any of our other long standing locals like 801, AJ's, Chicago Speakeasy, Johnny's, John & Nick's, The Big Steer, Rube's, Irina's, Jesse's, Trostel's, etc. Probably others I've forgotten to mention along with many other recent additions... We live in Iowa. We have some of the best beef in the nation! It's hard to throw a rock without hitting a restaurant that serves up a good cut of beef. Outside of the ownership and some slight changes to the menu (weights, additional items, prices) not much else has changed since I started coming here. Same signage, same building exterior, same dark hardwood walls and furniture, even the same carpet I think... It's an old school vibe. One of my friends had a recent trip to Mayo. When they were up there they called me and told me about a horror show of a visit they had with a chain steakhouse up there in Rochester. I listened and I probably smirked a little on the other side of the phone... I told them when they got back in town, had recovered from their procedure, I'd take them out for a good steak. To me Iowa Beef Steakhouse is the place to go. We were greeted right away at the host station up front as we walked in. A later dinner on a Friday evening... We were shown to a low topped table towards the rear half of the restaurant. Seating is low top tables and chairs for the most part along with a standard bar area and seating. After a short wait Jess came by and introduced herself and took our drink order (Pepsi products, wine, beer, and anything else you may want from the bar). The drinks hit the table after a couple of minutes and it was on to our food order. 1x fountain drink 1x unsweetened ice tea 1x large sauteed mushroom skillet 1x 16 oz ribeye (medium), with fries, and salad bar 1x 20 oz sirloin (medium rare) with fries, and salad bar They offer seven cuts of steak, pork chops, chicken, ribs and more. Served with a baked potato and salad bar. The salad bar is one of the better ones! Boasting standard lettuce and fixings along with multiple dressings. On to potato, pasta, coleslaw, cucumber and onion, broccoli, bean, pea salad, etc. Pudding and fluff. No more pickled herring though... Guess the demand for that one is no more. I used to grab a piece or two now and then. I kind of missed seeing on there, but mostly from a nostalgia sense. Lol They started offering burgers on their lunch menu after the ownership change in 2015! Don't sleep on these! One of the best burgers you'll find in the city. We were able to sub the baked potato choice for fries, but Jess warned us they have a pretty small fryer in the kitchen and when it's busy at dinner time it's at their discretion whether they can do this or not and it may not always be an option. I have an issue with some textures. Lumpy mashed poatoes being one of them...so it's really hard for me to enjoy a baked potato. No matter how good it is. Lol I'm just really glad they have a fryer again... They went a few years without one at all. Jess was a rockstar! Attentive. Quick on refills. Welcoming and she had a very enjoyable personality. The steaks were cooked perfectly to temp. In all my years of eating here I've never sent anything back to the kitchen. And even back in the day when they offered to let you cook your own I always paid the extra $ to let them take care of it for me... The mushrooms... Little morsels from the gods themselves! The fries and Texas toast. So good. Rochester tragedy not forgotten... But Iowa Beef Steakhouse restored their faith that meat can be cooked properly the first time and there is still exceptional service out there. Frankly..., I hope this place never changes! Subtle is fine... There's just something so comforting about walking into a place you have been coming to for over 30+ years and it's still like you remember it. Kind of like walking back into your parents' house when you come home for a visit, no matter how old you are, and your childhood bedroom is still pretty much the same. Another great visit to Iowa Beef Steakhouse... I know I'll be back...! https://iowabeefsteakhouse.com/

Upon inspection and taste, we expressed concern with our waitress who removed and replaced it with a perfectly cooked medium. After this substitution, absolutely no complaints. The manager complimented us with a beef carpaccio, which was kind of him. It was covered with a bed of arugula, which was a bit more than necessary for the quantity of meat. Stellar mac and cheese, good balance of pasta and sauce, with texture from breadcrumbs. Great eating experience. The spinach was well seasoned, with very strong garlic flavors. A bit of extra sauté time would do a lot for a milder, more palatable flavor. Heavy wine pours to celebrate or Valentine's day dinner. Thank you 801 Chophouse!

One of the main reasons I came here is because this particular location got me hooked on their French Quarter 75's, they were SOOO good the first time around. This time not so much, it was so bitter I had to send it back. The spicy Margarita wasn't a good either. It was supposed to be spicy and I asked for it to be a fruity flavored Marg, it was just your typical margarita that was served. However the hibachis marg and the lemon drop was a 10/10. Outside of that I enjoyed my evening, and can't wait for my next go around here. I definitely recommend coming here.

Although they have an extensive bar, we all drank water. We ordered the prime rib special, the 14 ounce New York strip, and the 16 ounce ribeye. One thing you definitely notice while you're being seated is the salad bar, and the salad bar was included with all of our meals. My wife's son and I both got in 2 trips to the salad bar before our steaks arrived. The steaks were cooked to perfection. Everyone ordered their food medium rare and everyone got what they wanted. The food looked so good when it came out we forgot to get photos of them all. However, we remembered in time to get a photo of the 16 ounce ribeye. The only downside to the experience was that we were seated in a booth near the kitchen. Every so often, it sounded like something was slammed into the wall from the other side. It was loud enough to startle my wife a couple of times. We were all happily full and also got to take food home. We will definitely be back.

We started our meals with a glass of beer, then ordered our dinners. Tonight, my wife opted for the Sweet Potato Gnocchi with grilled shrimp (see picture) - at our server Chelsea's suggestion (Chelsea was great). While I usually prefer trying different dishes vs. ordering what I've had before, it was Wednesday and I'm a sucker for specials...so again opted for Walleye Wednesday (see picture). While we both enjoyed both dishes after sharing tastes of each, the highlight of the meal was the Campfire Pie (that Chelsea recommended) along with a scoop of ice cream (at our neighbor's suggestion). Check it out in the picture and be sure to give it a try!

My hubby gets the oysters and I get the shrimp cocktail with huge shrimp! The drink selection is great. I've had their Wisconsin style old fashioned and their NA blueberry mojito. Both were delicious. The service is always professional, friendly, and helpful in making selections. We are going to be regulars!

It's the kind of menu that makes you pause and wonder whether the experience will justify the cost. Another ongoing concern is the dinner rush: wait times can be long, and a call‑ahead or online waitlist option would make a huge difference. I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit during peak hours. What consistently brings us back, though, is the service and the food. Our server, Brody--who we've actually had on every visit--has been exceptional each time. He's attentive, friendly, and always on top of everything. The dishes are consistently impeccable, and Brody's professionalism truly elevates the entire experience. Thank you to Destination Grille and the staff for making each visit enjoyable. We love the seasonal menu and the creative changes. This would easily be a five‑star review if the pricing, noise level, and wait times were more manageable.

I ordered a club salad and after two bites an insect crawled out of the lettuce. The waiter apologized and ask if I wanted another salad which struck me as an odd question give the current experience. He said that the buy the lettuce from a supplier. I was concerned that lettuce from the same container would be used for a replacement salad and declined as who knows how much bug poop was on the lettuce. He did offer other choices but by that time I was unsure about any replacement. I was not charged for the salad and I did pay for my companion's lunch. I left a tip as it was not the waiter's fault. On my first visit I order a fish sandwich which was quite good. I did notice that the decor could use a good dusting. Again, not the wait staff's fault. The food is ok, a bit over priced, but given that a drive through hamburger, fries and a drink will shoot the best part of $15.00 it would not out of line for the menu and venue.
