Absolutely worst pharmacy I've every had to deal with. Unfortunately this is the only place that my dr can send my prescription. The first 2 months everything went smoothly. For the last 10 months they have been an absolute nightmare! It takes at least 3 calls for them to start processing my med with the excuse that they are waiting on the dr to send it in or they can't find the prescription (even though many times I heard my dr oh the phone with them). Most recently I called 3 times over the course of 7 days and they told me it was being processed so I'm thinking any day now it should be ready. Nope! I called today and they are just now sending it in to be compounded. So now it will be almost 2 weeks without my meds. If someone would have communicated honestly with me instead of lying I would have been more understanding. None of them know what is going on. No one has any accountability and they don't care about the patients. I work in healthcare as a registered nurse and this is unacceptable- please find somewhere else because you the patient deserves better! read more

I really wanted to support a local business but I did not have good experiences getting prescriptions filled here. The staff at the checkout were always prompt and helpful but my prescription was never in stock, then they would get it but never call me only to call me to tell me they sent it back etc etc. Switched back to big box pharmacy. I called three times and was put on hold all three times. I was disconnected on hold two of those three times. I was making an inquiry if they carried a nutritional drink that is needed before surgery. Each time they told me to hold and they would check, however, never came back and instead disconnected me. I had a broken bone years ago and was told rather than buy brace from dr go to Texas Star. Less expensive! They were awesome and never forgot. Years later after a self-inflicted burn scar, and trying all the options over the counter, shields, oils and creams, had no success. Stopped by Star and the Pharmacist offered a gel that he could offer that they had in the back. I am confident it will work but whether it meets my expectations, what amazing customer service from the girl in front who greets and works to help to her asking the Pharmacist for more options. So frustrating. Changing pharmacies. The past 3-4 times I've placed an order things have been miscommunicated or messed up! Spoke with pharmacist on phone earlier today who said prescription was ready only to arrive to pick up and have to wait 20 minutes for them to complete it. And it was still not done the way I asked!! I come here for a compounded medication for my kitty. I have gotten a compounded medicine for myself before here as well. It's a cute little neighborhood pharmacy, with items for sale such as herbs, over-the-counter meds and medical supplies (shower chairs, canes, boots, etc.). I like that it's open until 6:30pm during the week so I can get by after work, and limited hours on Saturday. The compounded medication seems a little pricy, but it is custom made, so makes sense. It's not too expensive so as to be prohibitive. It needs to be refrigerated and they always offer an ice pack to keep it cold on the way home, as well as the necessary syringes to measure it correctly, free of charge. Keep in mind it may take a day or two to get the compound ready, so put in the refill request a couple days in advance. I always get a text message, email AND automated phone call to let me know the prescription is ready. I'm sure it could be changed to just one method of notification but it kind of amuses me! read more

Star Pharmacy called me on 7/2/22 to confirm compounding prescription and said it would be ready 1st part of next week, and Wednesday 7/6/22 at the latest it would be delivered. Never received delivery or phone call. Called 4:40pm Thurs 7/7/22 stating "oh, we needed your D.L.#". Okay, is my prescription ready? They had not even started on it. She then said it would be delivered the following week. Asked if I picked it up when would it be ready. Stated the following day and they would send text as soon as it ws ready for pickup. (I live downtown Dallas and their delivery option is very appealing) We both confirmed I would definitely be picking it up.....needed my prescription by this time and not willing to wait until next for "possible" delivery. I called the next day around 2pm to inquire if it was ready. They said yes, you should have gotten a text already. On my drive to the pharmacy I received an automated voice call that my prescription would be delivered next week. SMH So may fails on their end. This is not the first time I've had issues. read more

I have been filling my compounds and other meds at Texas Star for the last 6 months. Customer service is hands down the best I have seen. Chik Fil A is a close second in how well their employees treat clients. When you get this level of service you expect to pay more, but Texas Star is very well priced. I have to have compounded bio identical estrogen and testosterone. I've been buying mine from a different compounding pharmacy. Although the pharmacist at the other pharmacy was nice and helpful, the other customer service people were not customer service oriented at all. The customers are treated like an annoyance. CONTRAST THAT to the WONDERFUL beyond service customer service of Texas Star Pharmacy. Every single touch has been excellent. Last night I got home after work to a phone message with information about where my hormones were delivered. I couldn't pick them up because their hours are the same as mine. I treat patients during those hours. So, they delivered! Oh, I've been using Texas Star for my supplies at my clinic for many years. Always excellent service. I have no idea why I didn't go there first for my personal prescriptions. Now I'm there. read more

I recently moved to Texas and I needed a new prescription and I could NOT find a pharmacy from Plano to Dallas who could help with filling my new prescription. I even tried Costco twice and I was referred to Texas Star Pharmacy by them- my doctor recommended them as well. I went to Texas Star and asked if they could fill my prescription and they told me that they COULD and it only took a few minutes! I had been trying for DAYS to find a pharmacy that could help. EVERYONE at Texas Star Pharmacy is friendly and nice from the moment you arrive until the time you leave. And Diane, the pharmacist, is AWESOME, and EXTREMELY knowledgeable! She ALWAYS goes out of her way to help me and makes sure that everything is correct and even contacts my doctor and PREVIOUS pharmacy whenever there are changes. And by PREVIOUS pharmacy, I mean that Texas Star is MY "Go-To" pharmacy now!!! So stop by Texas Star Pharmacy, and Diane and all the folks there will take GREAT care of you AND all of your pharmacy needs!!! PS If you don't cry when you get a shot, they'll give you a lollipop or free drink-well, actually anyone can have one!!! One of the worst pharmacies to deal with. My prescription was sent in on the January 4th tried calling two days later to check the status but no one answers the phone! First time I tried calling they said the doctor didn't send it in which was lie number one but I call the doctor anyway they said it was sent and received they tried calling for me but again no answers the phone. Called minimum of 5 times in a row and finally talk to someone they take payment info says it'll be processed and shipped out. I waited 5 days no update and no medication received. Called again they said payment info wasn't taken properly give it again wait another few days still nothing. No one called to say anything about it meanwhile I'm wondering and waiting on this medication finally called again literally 20 times finally get through just for them to say the same thing I give them a different card because allegedly it's been declined when that's a lie and I give the card again and what do you know miraculously goes through. Worst customer service /experience ever. Looking to have medication transferred to another pharmacy. Here we are the 18th and again allegedly will be sent out. I guess we will see. VERY helpful staff! easy to get compounded meds

This may be the worst pharmacy I've ever had the unfortunate privilege to work with. The turnover and staff is incredibly high, Scription's frequently get lost or missed placed, a prescription can never be filled correctly and most of all they don't really care if they waste your time. They'll tell you it'll be ready send you the alert that it's ready and you show up and it's not even been formulated yet. Hopefully this review can save somebody else the headache in the misfortune of dealing with them. My advice is spend a little bit extra money and go somewhere else if you have to. They can't read pharmacy prescriptions correctly and then when you point that out they become defensive open the medication in front of you and then proceed to tell you you have to pay for it been though it's the wrong prescription and the staff member opened it. I'm leaving there once again after driving 40 minutes one way with no prescription still. The lack of communication is astonishing. read more

Enjoyed meeting with Dr. Donna - who really knows her stuff. However, the clerks at the front desk leave much to be desired. I had a repeated problem with my medication being shipped after I'd requested pickup. At $8 a shipment, i was pretty unhappy after the third time- especially since I'd driven across town to pick it up. I told one of the clerks about it and her response was an eye roll and a loud "jeez us". I took a minute to send an email to the owner (because who wants to be dissed by a haughty teenager wearing too match eye makeup?) and quickly received a call in return. They refunded the cost of the three shipments and offered to send them to me for free from here on out, which was the best possible resolution for me. read more

I have been coming here annually for the last 10 years to get my daughter's flu shot, and in between for the random medical need (braces, supports, etc). It's a bit on the pricey side, but I like to support local businesses, and have always felt that this one deserved my support. Today that changed. I went in at 9 am to get a flu shot -- and was told the pharmacist would not be in until 10am. Ok, fine, I understand. Was not given any option to sign a list, fill out paper work, or in any other way "reserve" a place in line. I told the girl I had taken time off work, and was obviously struggling with the extra hour, and she was very kind and apologetic, saying "I'd give you the shot if I could, but I can't until the pharmacist gets here." I appreciated her recognition, and told her we'd be back at 10. At 10:02 we walked back in the door. The pharmacist was there, and I was given the paperwork to fill out (took about 2 minutes as I stood at the counter) and then handed over my insurance card. We stood around for 5 or so minutes, and then I approached another worker - who told me it would be an additional 20 - 30 minutes, because "there are two babies ahead of you and a TB test." Umm...ok, no one told me that when I walked in or gave any kind of estimate. I asked if we could come back later, and she said "sure," ....THEN explained we'd go to the end of whatever line was in place at THAT point. So I decided to wait. I stood and watched. For over 30 minutes, nothing happened. Then they finally called ONE person, and took that person in for a shot. It took about 5 minutes. Then 10 more minutes of nothing. When I asked what was taking so long I was told "there's a lot of typing," and "that's just how it is..." with an "oh well, tough luck" attitude from the worker (NOT the same girl as I'd seen at 9am). After having been in the store for OVER 40 MINUTES I went up to ask if my insurance had been processed yet....it had NOT EVEN BEEN PROCESSED. At that point I took the card back, drove literally across the street to Tom Thumb, where it was less than 15 minutes TOTAL -- from walking in the door to walking out the door with the shot. I understand that with a local pharmacy comes personalized care, and a pharmacist who takes his/her time. I appreciate that, and am glad to pay more for it. There is NO EXCUSE, however, for it to take this long -- especially when the "backup" is 2 people who haven't even been helped yet! If local pharmacies want to survive in this "mega store on every corner" environment, they HAVE to make an effort to streamline and make services available. Texas Lone Star Pharmacy lost a customer today, and I'll be sending everyone I know to Tom Thumb for their flu shot! read more

Needed a prescription filled for some weird vaccine and met with Crystal, the pharmacist. She was smart about her business and advised me on the correct path to get done what I needed done. My usual pharmacy (Hello, Walgreens) didn't even stock what I needed and Crystal had it on the shelf - no wait. Amazing customer service and a great attitude to boot! I live in Allen but will drive to Plano from now on - This is my new go-to pharmacy because of Crystal. read more

This is the worse pharmacy I have ever been to. They didn't enter my prescription properly to BCBS so I had to pay full price. I called insurance and they told me what happened. Not 1 single person there has smiled or been nice or friendly. Even other customers have made comments. They are remodeling during daytime working hours. Not good. I will never come back here even though it's right around the corner from my house. My suggestion . . . Drive across town if you have to but don't come here. read more

They constantly make mistakes and get very indignant when you ask them to correct their mistakes. I took the three strikes and you're out stance a while back but went ahead and gave them another chance, and they have blown it once again. I have been using TX Star for about 2 years. I find they are all over the place from customer service to getting your RX filled. NEVER use their auto phone refill system; it doesn't work. I used it 3 times and when I got there on a Saturday; no RX was ready and no record of my call. Also, they need to get folks who can READ a RX, its a compound pharmacy so I would think they would have to do some math occasionally. I called in an RX. Girl says, you have to refills, I say look again, she says (after like 5 minutes of confusion) oh Yeah ok. I didn't feel secure so called back and talked to another person, they say no refills, I say "um yess" they look oh, ok we will get this done. So I HAVE to call back again because I am still not sure it is going to fill and they say YES no problem. YOU guessed it, Saturday rolls around, I come in, NO RX is ready and I get told we faxed the DR. OF course, I am angry now..... I only have SAT AM to pick up a RX. I work in Dallas!!!. Explained that 3 times on the phone. Saving grace - Jenn - she is magnificent - she came up and calmed the very angry customer and got the RX ready. GET this, another person in the back told Jenn and I they were out of my RX and Jenn was like, no I have seen it so she had to go back and do it herself. Hat's off to Jenn!! Never let her go or your business would fall into a dark hole. I am currently looking for another compounding pharmacy in Plano unless they convince me otherwise. We wanted to get Typhoid vaccines for travel, we called ahead of time to make sure that they have the pills and the vaccine.  When we go there, we had to wait 30 min and then they informed us that they don't have the vaccine!!  Neither the shot or the pill were available.  The cost for the shot would be $140.  We ended up calling Walgreen's, they found a store in Dallas that had the shot and we got it for $100, $40 less!  I would not recommend this place. read more

I've used this pharmacy for a long time to fill prescriptions that the big pharmacies don't stock, or are constantly out of stock. Texas Star somehow has access to inventory. After reading other reviews about mistakes, I'm surprised they haven't experience that at every pharmacy (I have!). The couple times I've encountered mistakes here, they resolved them quickly and professionally. read more

The medication is excellent, but the personnel need some lessons in diplomacy, The pharmacy does not provide the proper documentation for you to file a claim with your insurance. When you call back, they cannot provide the answers (e.g. prep cost, ingredients, or amounts) necessary for you to file a claim. They get mad, disconnect the call, huff in your ear or give you open ending time frames when they will call you back. Bottom line, they got their money, so the heck with you. It's strange, they could not provide any of the above mentions items the insurance company requested, therefore, you cannot file a claim. Shame on them. read more

Had a very bad experience here. I have a serious illness and just had surgery and was given some pain medication by my doctor. This is normal for me as I've been in pain management for 5 years now and am used to the sometimes difficult means getting these prescriptions filled can be. I was recently switched to a different medication that seems to be hard to get. The day my prescription was due to be filled my two normal pharmacies could not locate them and my doctor was unwilling to give me a different medication. They called Texas Star Pharmacy and explained the situation to them. Texas Star informed my doctor's​ office they only had part of the prescription in stock but I could drop by and take what they had and receive the rest at a later date. I made the drive which was an extra 20-minutes on top of my already 20-minute​ commute (remember I just had surgery so I'm not in the best of shape) to go pick up the prescription​. I walked into​ Texas Star and the pharmacist looked at​ everything and then completely backtracked​ on everything she told my doctor. She then told me she wouldn't fill the prescription​ even though it was written for that exact day and they had it in stock. I looked like a bum I'd admit, I am not feeling well so I was dressed haggard and haven't shaved in a week and I feel as though I was being judged. She kept contesting everything I was saying and was extremely combative to me. She then told me to either leave it and pick it up tomorrow or she was going to give it to someone else. I wanted to go back to my doctor and find another plan but I left it and left her my insurance info. I asked if it would be covered and said I had Caremark and they said yes and it would be ready tomorrow. I then get a call later on in the day being informed that my insurance co-pay was some astronomical number. This place was a total waste of time for me and they could have taken the extra 5-minutes to look up my insurance while I was there especially after they told me my insurance would cover the prescription more-over actually treat me like a valued customer and a human being, ​not some cespot that drifted in off the street. I was very taken aback by the terrible treatment I had. My wife told me to shave and put some decent clothes on before I went back in, so I did. This time shaved and dressed in my normal clothes (Jeans, Burberry Polo, and my Mark Jacobs Leather Jacket) I walked in all of the sudden everyone was extremely nice to me and offering help. It was obvious that they were treating me different because I looked haggard​ and was trying to fill a pain prescription. I didn't realize there was a dress code for visiting a pharmacy. Anyways, I went to another pharmacy down the street and they filled the prescription in 5-minutes, treated me like a valued customer, and the pharmacist even filled the prescription even though my insurance reimbursement​ caused him to lose money. He then discussed my wife's​ prescription with me at great length and offered me to come back even though they take a loss on the prescription due to the medication being hard to find. Texas Star lost a potential customer for life and someone who relies on their medication to have a quality of life due being dealt a bad card with his health. Not helping someone is one thing but being discriminatory​ by​ someone is a totally different thing and it makes me sick that people continue to treat pain medication patients like they are all drug addicts. read more

I have used Texas Star Pharmacy for about 3 years to have serum eye drops made. When I picked up this week, the price charged was $50 more than when I had the prescription filled 6 months ago and over $100 more than what I was charged 3 years ago. There is something wrong with this picture as I do not believe the cost of making serum eye drops could have possibly risen this much in 6 months! I strongly believe since there are few pharmacies that make serum eye drops, that they are taking advantage of this. (Note: Blood has always been drawn from the same lab and the same number of tubes each time. ) They also stated that they had to have a copy of my credit card on file before they could fill my eye drops in the future. ( I have never failed to pick up my prescription or to pay in full.) So Texas Star Pharmacy can charge an ever increasing amount and without the customer knowing the price before hand? I like this pharmacy as an alternative to the big corporate stores. They're always pleasant when I go in, which is nice when you're sick and not feeling good. The pharmacist has even referred me to a drug manufacturers website so I can get one of my medications for free (Symbicort). That was an unexpected surprise. The only downside to this pharmacy is their hours of operation, if they had a 24/7 option, I'd give them 5 stars. read more

SAVE TIME AND MONEY, GO ELSEWHERE ... I can't say enough, there are not words enough to describe my discontent with this pharmacy. I have yet to fill a prescription at this business without Issue. I carry a Federal I.D. (TWIC) which is issued to port workers foreign and domestic by the U.S. Government after an extensive 6 week back ground check by the FBI. This I.D. is enough and required to enter any secure port in the world. It is accepted by the courts , government officials, state agencies and any place i have ever been requiring a government issued I.D. It isn't however accepted by "Texas Star Pharmacy". It's accepted by CVS , Walgreens, Wal-mart pharmacy, Kroger Pharmacy, Tom Thumb pharmacy. It has been accepted on the 2 prior occasions i have filled my same prescriptions at "Texas Star Pharmacy" after having to contact the owner myself. Yet today like any other time , the staff as usual started up with the same we can't fill your prescription with that I.D. The service there is not exceptional. Its quite slow in fact. With the One register for all transactions and questions for purchases and prescriptions, and the mostly preoccupied staff which i have never found to be helpful. The fact that they were audited by whatever agency about there records has only compounded the slow service. My family and I go out of our way, and pay more in most instances to support locally owned business. In the case of "TEXAS STAR PHARMACY" I wouldn't recommend them to anyone trying to fill narcotic classed prescriptions, and unless you can interact directly with the owners it just isn't worth the time or effort to try and support this local business. read more

I had a bad experience with this pharmacy over the medical equipment rental and would never recommend this business to anyone. After calling about a knee scooter rental and having a very pleasant and informative phone conversation, my Mom and I arrived to rent a knee scooter the day before my foot surgery (2/4/14). We waited quite a while for someone to help us even though there was ample staff and only a couple of customers. They seemed very disorganized and had trouble understanding what I was needing to rent, kept asking the same thing over and over again about what I needed. Finally a girl brings the paperwork and asks about me needing a wheelchair....." no I need a knee scooter / rollabout"..... takes my credit card while I fill out the rental agreement. We wait another 10 min for her to bring out the scooter and it's in questionable shape, scratches and dings to the metal which don't affect the use of the unit but the frayed and worn out knee pads do have a big impact on use. She did not offer to set up the unit for my height and comfort and we had to ask her to show us how to fold it up and use it.....this thing cost $150 / month! Then my 71 yr old Mom had to carry it out to the car as they couldn't be bothered to help! After my surgery, I only used it lightly around the house for about a week, no folding up to put into the car. When my Dad went to fold it up so we could go to a post op Dr's visit, we discovered the base of the head / pin was totally bent and we could not fold the steering arm back up into place, rendering the unit useless!! I called the pharmacy, explained the problem and was told "No problem, just have your Dad bring it back right away and we will replace...yes we do have another unit and I'll reserve it for your Dad". He goes to exchange and is told that the unit isn't broken at all..... yet it's totally dangerous to use.....but they will replace it if he's uncomfortable. But guess what?? They've rented out his reserved unit in the 90 min it's taken him to get there and now don't have another! Horrible customer service, total lack of care for the safety of customers renting their products and just a disorganized place! Save your time and safety and just go to Doughterty's or CVI Medical Rental in Dallas....1000% better quality and service and totally worth the extra drive if you live in Plano. I can't believe they can stay open doing business this way. read more
