Our tour guide Randy was very knowledgeable and friendly and we enjoyed his company. This was our first wine tasting tour and we loved it. Our first stop was Texas Wine Collective which had exceptional service and a wonderful selection. The second stop was at William Chris Vineyards which was beautiful but did have good service and we did not like the selection. Texas Wine Tours delivered to provide a personal experience. Steve, who was our driver/host did a phenomenal job of making sure that we had a great time by taking excellent photos and being personable. He handled his role with respect and had a great relationship with the vendors that we stopped at. We were able to coordinate with the front office at T.W.T. as to 3 locations that were our preferred wineries - this was under the Three Winery Tour option (although options cannot be guaranteed, they will be considered).  We were able to stop at Wine Castle, Fat Ass, and TWC (highly recommend these choices - especially on a rainy day). Randy, the owner, met us at our final stop and was very hospitable because it was my fiance's birthday week. Rick was our driver...on time, kept us on schedule but we didn't feel rushed at all. In advance, we were able to give some input about which wineries we wanted to visit and ended up going to 2 out of the 3 on our list. They were very prompt with replying to emails/inquiries. We went on a Friday and it came to around $170/person, tastings and tip/tax included. Tour lasted from about 1 pm - 5:30 pm and we visited 3 wineries. Rick did a great job of taking care of our purchases and labeling our bags. Plenty of complimentary water and snacks on board. Our bus held 12 people but we were all comfortable. My wife and I had a great time during the tour. We met other couples and enjoyed drinking and trying wine. Our tour guide was great as well. However, after the trip was over and we were dropping off other guest, the half of the wine we purchased was given to another couple. This was made worse by the supervisor calling me and saying we are not responsible for your own wine bottles and should have watched them. Even though throughout the trip anytime anyone order wine the tour guide took it and wrote our names on the bag and put them in the back of the van, where no one could see them. Don't even bother looking at other wine tours. Texas Wine Tours is beyond amazing! We booked for my bachelorette party, and the entire process from booking to the end of the tour was phenomenal. Our driver, Cheryl, stopped by our house the day before our tour to give me a flower and the maid of honor a jam as a thank you. She told us she left plenty of time to take group pictures at the house for us in the morning when she picked us up. Then the morning of the tour, the owner showed up and gave me his well wishes and a bottle of wine! Before even starting the tour, we were blown away by their level of service! Pick up went super smooth in the morning, and they picked 4 great wineries for our stops. Cheryl came into every winery with us, and spent the entire time making sure everyone was happy and had everything they needed. She would fill our waters, coordinate meals/snacks, and she did it all without anyone having to ask her. If we bought anything at the wineries, she would write our name on the bag, and take it back to the bus and handle the storage. At the end of the tour, she loaded it all up and brought it into our house! We booked our wine tour during spring break and had such a great time. Our driver Bruce was so great, he showed up at our house exactly on time, he was so attentive to our group and was super friendly. Along the way, as we toured and shopped he was right there to take our purchase to the bus and took care of everything for us. We visited four wineries, and had lunch, and while we had a great time thanks to Bruce and the other couples on our tour, I wasn't all that impressed with the "wineries". I've never liked Texas wine and still don't. First of all, these aren't "wineries", they're all tasting rooms. The grapes aren't even grown in this area. They all seemed to just want to get through the tasting, and sell you wines by the bottle. One "winery" had our group of 8 set up in their "library" which was nice and private, but our host kept running in and out because they were short handed and he was helping at the front while also doing our tasting. The other places don't even allow you to sit at the bar while tasting, you had to stand the entire time which wasn't good for my cousin who was recovering from a back injury. Overall, my review of Texas Wine Tours is 5 stars because they really took care of us. I wasn't impressed the the fake wineries and their push to sell wines and not really educate. Maybe they can't educate much on their wines because they aren't actually making them there. I would still recommend the tour in Fredericksburg if you are looking for something fun to do with a group. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! **Texas wine tours in Fredericksburg ** Please share since they keep deleting all the reviews. Also, if you know me.... you know that I NEVER blast a business like this. EVER. This owner was SO disgusting and disrespectful to me. I really hate to post this... but the owner of this place was completely disrespectful and out of line with me when I called (the second time, because the first time they were ok with everything). More than half of the girls scheduled to take the wine tour, came down with covid and or was exposed to it and was told we must quarantine for 2 weeks. We never ever ever planned on canceling, but once the all time high hit texas (2nd wave) , especially Houston, where we ALL live, AND almost every single girl was exposed or now tested positive, we sadly needed to cancel and would re-schedule at a later date. The owner proceeded to tell me that he would give me a gift card and that they will not give me my money back. I told him I would be more than happy to still pay the driver their tip, but we have no idea when this covid stuff will get everything back to any type of normal. I told him that I did not want a almost $3,000 gift card, I would like my money back because I am unsure of a future date and if every girl could make that date. We still plan on going, but just not knowing when or how many girls will be able to attend. He screamed at me and told me that he will not give me any money back so I then proceeded to tell him that we will all come and still attend if that's how he wants to do business-- he would be selfishly putting his driver, the other people there, and all the wineries in danger. Of course, we would NEVER do that, because we are respectful and honorable humans. After I said that to him, he then says "I'm not dealing with this today, you can call tomorrow" AND HUNG UP ON ME!!! We are all moms of young children and were told by our family doctors and or a testing site to lock away for 2 weeks. I understand that they have to make money, but also, COVID is KILLING people, shutting down businesses, canceling weddings, etc etc and I have yet to find a vendor type of place that did not give people that literally tested POSITIVE and or was exposed and not showing symptoms just yet, their money back for a "STATE WIDE DISASTER". On top of that, we paid for a lunch for that day, all the wine tastings... which they will not lose money on because WE ARE NOT USING ANY OF THAT, therefore, they DO NOT HAVE TO BUY IT! Our house host refunded us back 100% and has since checked on myself and the other girls. This guy, yelled at me, is willing to put OTHERS AT RISK, and hung up on me. Fabulous time! Lee was our guide and did everything in his power to make sure we where having a good time but also keeping us on schedule which has gotta be hard to do with a large group! Texas Wine Tours was absolutely amazing! Our host/driver, Mike, messaged us the day before to confirm our reservation. He picked us up, a few minutes early, from our AirBnB. Mike was the absolute friendliest! He prepared snacks for all of us on the tour, provided water, and made sure everyone was comfortable in the bus. (The bus was very clean and spacious!) At each winery(3 different ones) Mike constantly was refilling our water and kept track of all our purchases. The cherry on top was when Randy, the owner of TWT, made an appearance and gifted a bottle of wine for my husband and I since we were on our honeymoon. This is such a fun thing to do if you're in Texas! We did a four winery tour and I had a great day. The flexibility they offer just makes such a big difference. You can pick the wineries you want to visit even if you tell them beforehand, or they will offer recommendations. You can drink any bottles you buy on the bus, too! Wineries definitely vary though. Some let you keep your tasting glass, some don't. Some gave two ounce pours, some barely gave one ounce. Do some research beforehand and make it worth it. Our tour guide was an older gentlemen and was great! He had bags for stuff we bought/were given and always loaded everything in the bus in between wineries. We invited him to join us for grilling at our Air bnb that night (wine goes straight our heads) and he said he was busy laying in his recliner and enjoying retirement. What a fun way to get to know Texas Wine!! Our guide was fun, patient, and informative. Our bus was super comfortable and luxurious, and always kept cool for us!! Literally every detail was taken care of. A couple of friends and I booked a four-stop wine tour with lunch that we went on this past weekend with Texas Wine Tours. Having lived in Texas forever, I'd never been on a wine tour, but Texas Wine Tours did a great job in making it a memorable first time. First, our driver Darryl was awesome - he was funny, friendly, accommodating and thoughtful. He began the tour by asking if we wanted to hit up a particular winery - we decided to let Darryl be our guide. My favorite wineries were the Becker Winery and Compass Rose Winery. The variety of wines we tasted ran the gamut from crisp white wines to robust reds to mapley ports. Our last stop was for a full glass of peach sangria. We had boxed lunches at our third stop that included a sandwich, chips, and a cookie. The cookies were so tasty! Our group was friendly and we were all joking and having a blast. I was having so much fun, I forgot my phone at the last stop. Darryl was my hero and went back to the winery and went to get it himself. That was really nice of him! My friends and I really enjoyed our tour and are looking forward to booking again, perhaps in the fall when the weather isn't as oppressive. We took our first wine tour yesterday and it was so great! Our driver was Darrell, and he was so informative and nice. He even bought us kolaches and donut holes for breakfast. Picked us up very promptly from our Airbnb in the morning @10, and we were on our way. We did the 4 winery tour which included lunch. We visited SantaMaria, 4.0 cellars, Hilmy, and Safari Winery. Each winery included 5-6 tastings of different wines, and you could pick what type of wines you wanted to try. We loved all the wineries and even bought bottles at all of them, which Darrell stored for us in the bus until the end of the day. The owner, Randy, stopped by at our lunch at 4.0 to introduce himself to us and gift us a bottle of wine for our upcoming wedding! We plan on doing this tour again with more friends next time! I've taken this tour twice - once in June 2012, when I didn't Yelp about it, and again in May 2013, when I had such a fantastic time, I knew I HAD to Yelp about it. Most recently, I went to Fredericksburg on a girl's trip. I suggested Texas Wine Tours based on my previous experience with them the year prior. It's a neat way to visit multiple vineyards/tasting rooms, enjoy the scenery, learn some local history, and taste a lot of wine without the concern of navigating or driving on the winding, hilly country roads and highways. This time, our tour guide was Bill. Ask for him; he is awesome! Trust me, you won't be disappointed! He has a wealth of knowledge about the Frederickburg area, the wineries, and wine in general. Whether you are a wine snob or a wine novice, you will learn a thing or two from Bill. Since we opted for the half-day tour, we stopped only at three vineyards/tasting rooms - Grape Creek, Pedernales, and William Chris. All were very lovely, with GC and Pedernales having the largest tasting rooms and WC having a smaller, quaint tasting room. Each had it's own unique personality, as did each of their wines. The bartenders at each of the locations were very friendly and helpful in describing the wines to us - how it's made, from what grapes, how it compares to other whites/reds/etc. Bill also circulated the group as we tasted wines, and shared tidbits of wine knowledge with us. I definitely felt like a more educated wine drinker by the end of the day! Overall, I really enjoyed this tour - both times. And, I have already recommended it to several of my friends. I put a lot of thought and effort into planning my husband and I's 1 year anniversary trip. Although my husband isn't much of a wine drinker, he suggested Fredricksburg as he understands my love for wine. I wanted him to be able to relax and not have to drive around to the different wineries. That's why I chose to book a wine tour. After hours of researching reviews, vehicles, and wineries visited, I decided to book the 4 winery tour and lunch with Texas Wine Tours. I was told we most likely would not be the only ones on the tour as they put different groups together (seems practical) unless I wanted to book a private tour (which was insanely expensive considering my husband doesn't drink). I would have input to wineries visited, but the driver would take into consideration the wishes of the entire group. I really didn't care as long as I could tour 290 wine castle, the others were of no consequence as I had been to multiple wineries already. I inquired about the vehicles used and was told they used Mercedes vans and limos for the tours. Pics online showed limo seating in the vans and I was really excited as my husband has never ridden in a limo or a luxury van with limo seating. I requested a limo if at all possible. The lady I spoke with said she couldn't make any promises but would do her best to make it happen for us. She was really nice and accommodating. I received a phone call from Don the day before our tour to confirm pickup at 10am and he explained that 290 wine castle would be the first winery visited that day. I didn't think to ask about our vehicle at the time. The next morning, we were ready for pickup by 9:55am. I finally received a call at 10:22am from Don letting us know he was on his way. We were picked up at 10:38am. I was so disappointed when our bus picked us up. The vehicle that picked us up was nothing like the pics I saw online. It was a small van with 3 rows of seating that packed us in like sardines. Nothing special or fancy. I cried as this is not what I had imagined for our tour. Thank god my husband was optimistic. We were grouped with a birthday group of 4 girls and another couple. Don apologized for the time and we were on our way. 1st stop was 4.0 cellars. Imagine my confusion when I had been told 290 would be first. No problem, I assumed it would be on the agenda at one of the other stops. Absolutely loved 4.0 cellars. Martin was very knowledgeable about the different wines. I bought 3 bottles here! One of the bottles I purchased wasn't available to taste but bought it anyway because Martin and I had very similar palates (Martin I'll let you know what I think). Lots of cheese, crackers, jams, and chocolates to try and buy as well. It was my favorite stop of the day. We had our lunch here which consisted of a Jason's Deli type boxed lunch with sandwiches, chips, water, and a cookie. My husband and I were busy trying to tidy up our wine purchase and were the last to sit for lunch so we got whatever was left. Next we went to Hye Meadow. I really enjoyed this winery as well. It was a smaller quaint venue with limited extras. There was a wide variety of wines to try. I'm a heavy red lover so this winery was also a favorite. I bought 3 bottles here too. We finally got to the wine castle and it was beautiful. However, Don told me he was unable to get us the dungeon tasting which I requested. He stated it came with a wine and cheese pairing not included in the basic tasting. Would've been nice to know this ahead of time since the winery is only open for dungeon tasting Saturdays Sundays and Mondays. I could've scheduled the dungeon tasting the day before so I completed missed out. Another group was there the same time we were and at least got to see the dungeon. My group was not offered this extra. In any event, I ended up buying 2 bottles here. I enjoyed their selection of wines as well though some of the grapes they use are not texas based. Lastly, we visited Bingham Winery. This was my least favorite winery. I didn't like a single wine I tried here which is a rare occurrence. I even tried buying chocolate (there were no samples before purchasing) to help try and cleanse the palate but the chocolate was pretty distasteful. $21 on chocolate that went in the garbage. I didn't buy any wine here. However, this winery was a favorite for the others on the tour (there was a pretty big age difference here). My husband and I were there for a relaxing trip, not for a drunken haze. I was pretty uncomfortable by the end of the day. I have to say that Don was very accommodating during the tour. He took countless pictures upon request and carried all of our purchases to the vehicle for us. My husband was grateful he didn't have to drive and feel like the tour was a success for this reason, not to mention 3/4 wineries were exactly in my wheelhouse so I was able to stock up on wine! read more

This company did an absolutely amazing job. I came with a small group (4 of us total) and it was our first wine tour ever. That being said, they made everything easy. They were very accommodating to our needs (date change, pick up, etc.), granted we did do a weekday in January. If you're worried about Covid (which we definitely are), I'd recommend going during the week. We went on a Thursday and there was little to no people at the wineries and we were able to have the van to ourselves! It made it a more comfortable experience for sure. Our driver was Steve and he was awesome. Looking forward to coming back in the summer/fall when everything is in full bloom. 10/10 would book again and ask for Steve! read more

We ate lunch at Santamaria and received a great education on the various aspects of wine. The winemaker/owner did the tasting and he was great. We had fun with Texas Wine Tours! Our driver was Don and he gets 5 stars. A few factors outside his personal control give the experience 4 stars. We went to Baron's Creek, 4.0 Cellars, Hye Meadow and Lewis on our tour, in that order. Baron's was great. 4.0 wine was pretty good, but our favorite part was the olive oil and sauce tasting. It Really added to the experience, and almost our whole group purchased some. Hye Meadow's wine was not good, and most of our group's samples ended up in the bucket. It didn't help that the only option offered for our tasting was to sit in the heat outside on a hot July afternoon. Lewis was good but not a very memorable experience. As far as the tour went, our lunch served was a box lunch turkey or ham, and it was from some little cafe in town. Very, very good. Some of our tour mates were wine snobs and were quite rude throughout the day. On a tour this small (ten people on ours) if one person is rude, it kills the vibe in the whole van. Would be fun to kind of coordinate tour groups with age in mind, and group younger couples with other younger couples. That way everyone can relax and have fun together. Overall great day.
