Don't deal with Diane. She's polite during the tour, but once you become a tenant, she's extremely rude. Many units also don't look like the models and have more carpet than shown. I've lived here for several years, and every interaction with her has come with attitude. She makes you feel like a bother for asking her to do her job. She once promised to call me back about an issue and never did. When I followed up and asked why I didn't receive the update she replied, "I'm sorry you feel this way," instead of simply apologizing. On the surface, this "premium" apartment community might seem nice... the landscaping is maintained, they salt the roads and sidewalks in the winter, and they have a tennis court, gym, and pool. However, looking under the hood, the most disappointing part about the community is the management. They don't care about real quality of life concerns, despite the fact that they are in the housing business--providing homes to families. My wife and 4-month-old moved there in 2025, specifically choosing TGM for, among other reasons, their 100% no-smoking policy. Secondhand smoke is especially dangerous to infants and raises the risk of SIDS. Being in a safe and healthy home is very important to us, and we assume, important to most people. Almost immediately after move-in, we were met with secondhand smoke creeping into our unit from another tenant smoking on their balcony. As the weather got colder, this tenant (not wanting to go out in the cold) chose to smoke IN their unit, causing even worse smoke intrusion. Despite numerous emails to management, they chose to do nothing. When you're living at TGM, you will get emails and texts throughout the year "reminding" residents to follow community rules, but when you actually present management with a tangible problem for them to solve, they will play hot potato and pass you off to maintenance or a different team member. They have only one email address for the entire management group, so you'll get replies from four different people in one thread. We were encouraged to keep reporting the issue by one person, and also told to stop reporting the issue by someone else because it was "being handled." But it wasn't. Pierre on the management team told us to just break our lease and move out, which is another way of saying "we're not going to resolve this." Shortly thereafter, we were informed our lease would not be renewed. When I asked why, Pierre said "In the state of Illinois, we don't have to give you a reason." Nice. The cherry on top was that after my family chose to pursue a home purchase, and our closing date got delayed for reasons outside of our control, we asked for flexibility on our move-out date, and Pierre threatened to file for eviction. Very family-friendly community. He even said, in writing, that we "bullied" their staff and that "none of our actions are tolerated." How dare we actually ask them to enforce their own no-smoking policy? But don't worry, they're focused on the REAL issues affecting the community, like prohibiting hanging potted plants on your balcony. Ultimately, it worked out, because my family is now in a safer, healthier home and TGM got to keep their smoking tenant. Good luck renting out THAT unit when the time comes. Oh, they also raised the rent after we moved out. If a luxury apartment community is your thing, you should definitely go just down the street to Arbors of Brookdale. Similar rates, better facilities, and much nicer units. Wish we had rented there instead. read more

The happiest day we had at TGM McDowell was the day we left. It was literally a breath of fresh air. Despite living in a 100% smoke-free building, for an entire year, we reported an odor of cigarette smoke entering our primary bathroom and bedroom, where our baby slept, from a downstairs unit. The issue was never resolved. We effectively lost use of that bathroom, our lease was ultimately not renewed, and our final interactions with Pierre, one of the managers, became adversarial. While the property is attractive and well-maintained, our experience with management was deeply disappointing. Full details: From move-in to move-out, we dealt with the odor of cigarettes from a downstairs tenant. After we notified management, the tenant eventually took the smoking to their car and subsequently indoors in the colder months, which is when we began noticing it in our primary bathroom and bedroom. At TGM McDowell smoking is not allowed within 15 feet of buildings. We reported the issue repeatedly over the course of a year, and every member of the management team was made aware through emails and in-person conversations, including Gima, Diane, Shiann, Allie...and Pierre, our primary point of contact. One day, when the odor was strong, my husband went to the management office and asked if Gima and/or Shiann would come to our unit to witness it themselves. Both declined and said it was an issue for maintenance. Then followed a breakdown in communication. Shiann requested we continue reporting the issue and sending photos because of the "overwhelming amount of evidence" needed to take legal action, only to be followed by an email from Pierre stating, "As you are constantly addressing concerns, warnings and violation letters are being issued to your neighbor downstairs which is now feeling harassed and targeted." In their eyes, we were the problem. Pierre and the head of maintenance, Michael, eventually inspected both the tenant's unit and ours, as well as surrounding units, and concluded that everything "smelled perfect", said that no one else had complained, and there was no way the odor was entering our bathroom because the units did not connect. Pierre repeated that the tenant was feeling targeted and harassed. While Michael admitted to being a smoker himself (ergo, nose-blindness) we did not understand Pierre's reasoning for dismissing us. Oddly, at a later date, Michael said that he'd given the tenant an air purifier (even though their unit "smelled perfect"). We spent much of our tenancy unable to comfortably use our primary bathroom. To keep the odor from leaking into the bedroom, we'd keep it sealed off with a towel under the door and insulation plastic--ironically, a product recommended by management for their drafty windows in the winter. We paid for a two-bedroom, two-bath apt but effectively lived with one functional bathroom. We asked Pierre if TGM could facilitate a move to a different unit within the community, and he conceded, but after giving it more thought, being that it was the middle of winter and we were not in a position to incur any more moving costs, we decided that we couldn't trust management at this point with handling operations (could this happen again in a different unit?), so we began our search for different housing. We were later informed that our lease would not be renewed. We always paid rent on time and followed community rules. When we asked why, Pierre replied that in Illinois, the law does not require that a reason be given. The timing and curt reply made it difficult not to wonder whether our repeated complaints played a role. In hindsight, we're glad we didn't go through the trouble of moving units. Our experience reflects a larger problem at TGM McDowell: rules exist, but enforcement is selective. Residents receive reminder emails and text messages about following community policies, yet many of the same issues mentioned in previous reviews continue--unsupervised children playing in parking lots and around vehicles, fireworks, cigarette smoking, marijuana use. Our final experience with management only reinforced that impression. After we purchased a home, our closing date was delayed due to reasons outside our control. Pierre granted a one-week extension, which we ultimately needed to exceed, then he threatened to file for eviction on a young family if we did not vacate by the end of the month. We had to scramble, throw all our stuff in storage and move out with our baby and cats to an Airbnb to wait for the closing process to finish. The property looks nice on the surface; snow removal is prompt, maintenance responds to service requests filed through the portal... But beneath that polished exterior is a management team that is unwilling to address real quality-of-life issues for residents in a respectful way. By the end, their "Welcome Home" sign felt less like a greeting and more like a punch line. read more

The people in the office will tell you anything to get you to move in. They did nothing about all of the crime that occurred saying it was the police department's responsibility. Diane in the office is extremely disrespectful and patronizing once you've signed a lease. Gima is only slightly less disrespectful and patronizing. I have to say the maintenance guys were pretty good, but no one cared that my ceiling was soaked through an ELECTRICAL light socket from the bathroom on the second floor. The halogen lighting was burning the same ceiling and I was told it was "completely safe" to keep this light on burning into the soaked ceiling. LOTS of unsupervised children running through the patios and yards went unaddressed. I thought moving to Naperville meant moving to a safe, cared for community. Not at this place. Nightmare was complete when the US Marshals descended on my neighbors after another neighbor's and my concerns went unaddressed about the crime occurring in the complex. read more

I wouldn't recommend anyone staying here, they have rat/mice/rodent infestation. I complained about it 3 weeks ago and it hasn't been resolved yet. I have been pretty much living somewhere else from past 3 weeks because of it as my place isn't livable. I'm counting days so I can get out of here. They also need to train their office staff properly, one of the staff called me and said I don't need renters insurance because I'm moving out soon but after few weeks their manager calls and says they were wrong and they will force put a renters insurance on my bill as it is required. I moved here in February of 2023. I've had nothing but excellent experiences from all the staff from the leasing staff to the maintemce staff. I'd like to say all the staff are wonderful people, they all get 5 star ratings in my book.., especially Cindy. She always kind and patient no matter how many questions I ask, she's been super knowlegable, kind, and patient. It's very clean on the premises all the time and I enjoy how the front office have events every month for all the residences. I saw all the bad reviews before moving in and it was discouraging. So, I called and I asked the staff about this and they gave me a professional and reasonable explaination of said reviews. So, I'm glad that I came in and toured and rented my apartment. I have lived at this place few months back and that was the worst experience me and my family has had in years. We use to stay on first floor and the top floor residents would always had weed. The apartments were filthy and the carpet was many many many years old, Never washed or replaced until we told them to. I have images of carpet where there are many nails spiking through the inner surface to the top portion. Fortunately, no one got any injuries but it was Worst experience, me and my family had been through. I will be updating my review with the images very soon. Love the complex, the upgraded apartments have premium finishes. The master bathroom has lots of closet . The second floor apartment have high vaulted ceilings and fire place. They will hand over a appartment with pre-existing defect and if you complain they will charge bills on you. Good community and good place to live. Being a resident before TGM took over the property... I can see the positive influences and improvements that TGM is striving for. Is it perfect? no, because some tenants turn out to be bad neighbors which is beyond the control of management but they do try to fix the situation. Move in at your own risk! I can't get out of here soon enough! I lived at TGM for 2 years. I'm OCD clean and had mice in my apartment. They sent an exterminator days later and all they did was put a trap behind the oven and fridge (didn't work). I also had a bees nest outside my door that took days to fix. Basically, If you need anything fixed you'll have to wait days for it. The place is a mess. Good luck getting into your apartment without seeing massive spiderwebs everywhere. The grass is full of cigarettes and dog feces. They also purposely give you your renewal notice late so they can charge you more money per day to take every dime from you. They're desperate for tenants! After I sent them my move out letter they called and offered to pay me $500 to stay. Yeah right! I've brought all of these issues up with management and they just told me they're "sorry." read more

Huge charges when I moved out . The kitchen counter tops in the apartments are not of heat resistant material and even if it happened to have very very small burn marks they may charge you for the entire piece replacement . I lived here only for a year and kept the apartment always clean and returned keys after cleaning it very well. I had to pay a deposit amount of $300 when I move in . I was expecting most of my deposit back when I moved out but instead they sent me additional bill of around $500 as move out charges..! Out of the total charges $687 was charged to replace the counter tops and I was totally shocked by that. They said it had burn marks and they replaced entire counter top except a small portion in the right side of stove. the marks were very very small..! and there were totally 3 small marks...! I felt the material they use here as counter tops is not at all good , even if they look good like granite if you accidentally place a hot vessel over it , the top layer will get blisters or burn marks . No guidance or warning was given from the management on it . Also , there were some assembling issues with the counter tops , there was a big gap between back splash and wall and some times ants were coming from the gap causing lot of issues. Apartment people were not considering to reduce my charges for the fact that they fixed their assembling issue by replacing the counter tops which they had to fix even if there were no burn marks. Rest of the charges were for special additives in kitchen painting for some fragrance free paint or something..! I din't understand what was this...! They mentioned it was because of the damage caused by cooking...! There were no damages in the kitchen and I assumed this may be because of the smell if you use spices in cooking..! I don't think this is something we can control if we do a lot of cooking. When I moved in , the carpet was not cleaned and I raised a complaint on it. They included carpet cleaning charges in my move out bill saying that there was mud in the carpet . Only when I explained the details about the condition when I moved in , they were ready to remove this charge. The utility management company charged me $150 after my 1st month , saying that I did not set up electric/gas utility from the move in date. After following up The appliances were really old in my apartment, and the electric stove especially was getting heated all over . We could not cook anything with high heat level as the stove body was getting heated too much and we could not stand near it. They did not change the appliances when they renovated the apartments last year in my apartment. I am not sure about other apartments. Anyway , this is just based on my experience ..! I did not face much issues when I stayed here , except the ants in the kitchen and noise from the top floor unit . I moved in after their renovation was completed . But in winter the master bedroom was getting colder even if we keep the temperature high. Maintenance was ok , and was getting responses in 2-4 days. The location and the atmosphere was really good and apartment was close to Metra and stores. But the move out charges they sent me made it my worst experience..! read more

I have been a resident of McDowell Place for a number of years and my stay here has been nothing short of excellent!! The staff here has always been great. They are cordial, professional and always attentive to any problems or questions you might have! Pierre and Gima in the front office are first rate to help you at all times. The maintenance staff, Mike, Lamont and Rudy are great at getting to any issues you have and do so in a timely and professional manner. They are spot on! Great pool area, large workout facility, and spacious, soundproof Apts. makes this a great place to be!!! read more

I cannot say enough good things about my home here. Whenever I have called to have something fixed they are more than on top of sending someone out. When we moved in our kitchen sink was backing up, someone came out immediately. The dial in my stove broke which ment I couldn't turn it off. Immediately fixed! The maintenance guys are so friendly, and always say hi when you're walking by. Gregory and everyone in the front office is always there to answer your questions and are helpful. I had a package delivered and they opened their doors after hours to get it for me. I think the gym is average. It's clean, the equipment isn't broke, there's just not much selection. They have an exercise bike, but it's the kind where you peddle in front of you, not a traditional bike. They have 1 piece of multi-purpose weights to do some strength training on, but you're very limited. All in all the gym will get you by, but if you are looking for some diverse pieces of equipment they don't have it. Some of the neighbors are a bit troublesome but nothing that's to major, or that a phone call to the office won't fix. This is also the first place I've ever lived that parking hasn't be a problem. No assigned parking spots or need for a guest pass makes me so happy. I have lived her for a year and just re signed my lease for another. I'm completely happy with McDowell Place. read more

I've been living at McDowell place for 21 years, and I have seen different property management companies pass through here over years. I must say I personally have enjoyed my stay here over the years. TGM has brought a new level of experience to this property. I like all the new updates to the apartment I live in. I didn't care for having to move and clean up the area before they began. But it was, well worth it and Nice quality too; plus I got rid of some things that should have been gone! I never really had any problems with management or the maintenance crew in the pass, nor have I yet with TGM. So far, all my needs have been met, it's peaceful and quiet where I'm at. I realize TGM is new on scene, and they're making a lot of changes to the property, thus making it look even better. I wished these changes had of been done years ago, so I could have enjoyed them over the years I've been here. I think it's going to be an even better, once everything is finished and completed. I hope I'll be able to afford another year or two. Over all, I have enjoyed my stay here, at McDowell place. I would not have stayed 21 years here if I didn't. read more

I used to love my home...that was before the new management began renovating and allowed their workers to live here. My neighbors blast their music ALL DAY AND NIGHT! When i complain the response is "oh I know them, I'll tell them to turn it down" Yea...that doesnt work. I've made several complaints but they wont do anything about it since they work for the company doing the renovations. It's a shame that they are going to fix these places up but won't have any of their loyal tennants left living there. On top of that, the rennovations are pretty bad. The rooms, which once had lots of light, are now very dark. I made a comment to one of the staff about how dark my bathroom was as she replied that it wasnt dark it was "romantic". I don't what she does in her bathroom, but a dark bathroom is not desirable. Anyway, looks like I'll be moving soon. Save yourself the drama...skip this place. read more

TGM bought McDowell Place from Banner Apartments, a company who very clearly left the apartments in poor repair for years before passing them on. We've been dealing with ants in our apartment since we moved in. As far as I can tell, they're coming in through the floor under the toilet, which suggests rotting wood underneath. We've had mice in our walls more than once--they were getting in through the furnace room outside and chewing their way into the walls (and then, in one case, dying in there). The windows are extremely old and whistle when there's wind outside. Needless to say, the insulation is just not there, and our bedroom is perpetually freezing in the winter. Speaking of windows--it's raining right now outside and on the inside of my window. This is a problem maintenance "fixed" once before already, and looking at the top of the window well on the inside, there's rotting wood. I would place an after-hours maintenance request, except there's not even a system for it. There's an emergency maintenance option on their main phone line that disconnects me instead of transferring me to a number. There's no option otherwise for placing maintenance requests after the office is closed, aside from leaving a message on the main line. The previous company had the ability to do this online as well as paying rent online; TGM has no such options in place. We had an apartment remodel recently, and while it does look nice the real problems with the units were not addressed. Instead, everything they have been doing (kitchen and bathroom remodel, removing trellises outside the buildings, a current remodel on the clubhouse) have been all for aesthetics. This complex NEEDS a rehaul that addresses the structural issues, but I suppose covering it up and making it look nice for sales pictures is easier. We renewed our lease before the renovations happened which meant we were still getting the "old apartment" rate, and that was still a $60 increase. I hate to think of what it will be next year when we get the "renovated apartment" rate. We had hoped to make McDowell Place our home for at least a handful of years, but it doesn't look like that will be something we will be doing at this point. read more

Lived here 5 years ago so management may have changed. When I lived there management was rude and very dishonest. They would tell you one thing when you signed the lease and then would not fulfill their end of the bargain. Also apartments are cheaply made. I started living here pre-TGM; once TGM took over, things went downhill fast. The good: -Close to 88. Perfect for city commuters. -Private entryways give the feel of a real "home". -WB fireplaces in second floor units and town homes. -Parking was pretty good for the most part. -Garages are available ($). -Pet friendly (Hope you don't have a restricted breed- $). -Maintenance. Fairly quick with requests but the problem is rarely fixed correctly the first time. The bad: -Outdated patio doors and windows. There's NO insulation whatsoever. Your energy bills will be outrageous due to drafty windows and doors. Bone-chilling drafts in the winter and your AC kicking on every 3 minutes in the summer are normal. We kept plastic on our bedroom window the 3 years we were there. -Poor bathroom ventilation. Expect to smell everything from your neighbor's meals to when they forget to shower, and everything in between. -Ignorance of preventative maintenance/safety issues. TGM didn't hire chimney sweeps (Banner did) nor do they regularly clean dryer vents. Parking lot lights are always out so you come home in the dark after sunset. The gutters have not been cleaned since who knows when. If you enjoy waterfalls, you'll love when the gutters overflow. When this happens during colder months, it freezes in puddles in the gangway, which of course isn't salted in a timely manner. -Thin walls. No matter what, you'll hear your neighbors. Bathroom noises, sex, talking, yelling, singing, etc. You'll get to know everyone very well before actually learning their names. -Shady characters. Our final year here, the clientele changed drastically. Ne'er-do-wells moved into the building across the way, and the people below us sat outside late at night and attempted to hack our WiFi. January 2016, dozens of cars were towed due to smashed windows and flat tires. -Forced cosmetic renovations to every unit. 1 bd/1ba units went from having a double sink in the bathroom to 1, townhouses lost cabinet space, and 2bd/2ba's lost ceiling fans. If you didn't remove everything from your kitchen and bath during the renos, you were threatened with a $500 fine. The renos were so half assed most of the work had to be redone anyway. -Quarterly "fire alarm" inspections. Just their way of gaining access to your unit to nose around. -Utilities. Nothing's included. TGM uses a third-party ("AUM") for their water/sewer/trash. This you can pay online, for a lovely $7.99 "convenience" fee. Said bill was always extremely high as well, averaging $50/month. Also,forget about paying rent online, TGM hasn't gotten with the times on that yet. -TGM allowed the out-of-state workers doing the renos to live on the property during this time. A group of them lived below us, and between the door slamming, littering,loud partying, and blatant drug use, our final year of living here was nothing short of hell. -Office staff. Some were nice but most couldn't give a straight answer to questions. -Adios greenbacks. No one gets their full deposit back. They find reasons to charge you for everything. The ugly: -The mold. What others have said is true. Globs of black mold come out of the tub and kitchen faucets. No wonder my husband and I were always sick. Post-reno, our toilet bowl had black mold rings around it weekly. No matter how often we cleaned it, it came back and with gusto. Awesome. -Water. If it didn't smell like rotten eggs, it left ugly orange stains around the tub and bathroom sink. Invest in a Brita water pitcher or purchase bottled water, trust me. -Finicky garbage disposal. I went to run ours once and a nasty black, foul smelling sludge sprayed out from the other side of the sink. -Ants. Like others, we had a huge ant problem. They seemed to be coming in around our side window but we couldn't quite pinpoint where. I'm sure it had nothing to do with faulty tuck pointing and non-existent window glazing, though. -Wasps and bees. I don't know how they got in. When we came back from a vacation last summer, there were dead ones all over the carpet. -No pool. For the summer of 2016, because they were STILL renovating the clubhouse the pool didn't open until the final days of July. -Towing. At the beginning of each month, TGM sends tow trucks out to tow cars that have expired plates. So make sure that sticker is fresh! -Price. We had a 1bd/1ba that started at $985. Year two, it was $1034. The third year it was $1077 (we did 10 months as opposed to 12; it was the cheapest option). That was before TGM took over. Post-reno TGM offered us a renewal for $1150/mo for 12 mo. Go pound sand- owning a townhouse now in Naperville (including HOA fees) is way less. Bye Felicia. TL;DR-If you have no kids, work like crazy, are never home, and don't mind paying stupid money for rent and overpriced utilities on an apartment that's as functional as a unicycle with a flat tire, you'll be right at home. read more

Here is my experience living at TGM McDowell place over the past month and a half: they renovate your apartment without concern for your schedule. During renovation faulty plumbing and black mold and crumbling concrete underneath a bathroom sink was discovered and nothing was done to remediate it, they just covered it up! Since renovation our sink has been leaking and we're living with towels on the floor in addition to a toilet that constantly runs. They said they'd be out to fix it... Yup. The other week we received mail with a neighbor's confidential lease renewal information, in an envelope addressed to us. Nice to know what your neighbors are paying I guess. The other day the mail lady informed me that the leasing office told her I don't live there anymore, and to return to sender. Thankfully she's smarter than that and kept the package. It was my wedding invitations! Thank goodness for the smart USPS lady! Then today on Easter Sunday I wake up to find a ticket on my car window stating that my car will be towed due to overdue license plates. Thanks so much for the heads-up about that everyone. I honestly had no idea and a friendly reminder would've been much appreciated. So happy I am having a house built to not renew here again. Eh. There's better, but I'm sure there's worse. The Bad: -Why were there dead bees all over the carpet when I moved in? -raccoons in the walls (4 of them) started screaming at 9pm and the "emergency maintenance" people wouldn't come until 9AM the next day! Thankfully, they didn't claw their way through and give us rabies in the night, and also that it was a weekend so being kept up all night by screaming raccoons could have been worse. Although, when I got up in the morning to make coffee, one was poking it's head out of a giant hole it made in the wall and was hissing at me, so that kind of made me feel nervous. And there was still an hour until the guy showed up. Thank heavens for "emergency maintenance".......... -Patio screen door fell off and no one would come to fix it. It's still broken. Jerks. -Horrible insulation. Our heating bill is wayyy more than at the last place, which a similar size and same floor. -MASSIVE wasp/hornet/whatever colony living in the siding of our patio. Complained SEVERAL times because they are actually behind the siding panel and I can't get to them. They never came to spray so we could not use the patio all summer. And since the screen door is broken they get in to the apartment. Lucky neither of us is allergic..... -GYM IS DIRTY AND OLD! I was on the 15 year old treadmill when a mom came in with a little girl. They stood around and then the girl hacked on the floor and rubbed it in with her foot....on the same spot I had just finished doing crunches. No wipes to clean it up. And the machines have a nice layer of filth on them. The Good: -Tennis courts are nice and always clean - Nice, quiet neighborhood with lots of sidewalks to walk the dog -Very clean, no garbage all over. And when people were being ghetto and not picking up their dog poo a notice was sent out by the police department. read more

I started living here when they were not TGM owned. The guys in the office were cool. Maintenance was nice. Didn't have any real problems except that snow and ice were never cleaned in a timely fashion. The apartments do have bad insulation - so be prepared for cold drafts in the winter and nice AC bills in the summer. Come TGM and all the older people left (or were fired or forced to leave??). So when I needed some maintenance I was told there was only 1 guy and my issue would be solved in 1 week. It actually took 2 as he kept coming in when I wasn't there. A superficial renovation began - some roads being re-paved and tennis courts re-surfaced. I was told some interior renovation is also due later in the year for me. Snow/ice cleaning never improved in my stay there. The guys in the new office were exceptionally difficult to deal with but eventually warmed up - they were very hostile initially and I don't want to say it but it kind of felt racist. The initial rudeness and the feeling that the superficial renovation was just an excuse to raise rents exponentially, I decided to move. Surprisingly, 2 of my co-workers living in the same complex also decided the same due to their own experiences (and they are white Americans). read more

Place is a rip off. At the end of the contract they will make any excuse why not to give your deposit back. Service horrible. If your bame is not on lease thats it your nobody dont even bother talking to them. Apartment was broken when moved in everything was a mess, had professionals came in and clean it when giving up the keys and they still said the kitchen and carpet was dirty.. after the professional crew went through. And trust me it was clean. The management is very unprofessional and literally told me to shut up because I wasnt on the lease agreement, since I moved in later after by partner repeatedly told them I can speak on his behalf (shy) & he was there always when I talked to them. At the end of the lease they watch you waiting for you to screw up, and get into your business. Who and for how long people are staying over everything, it actually pretty creepy. read more

Our terrible neighbors that have been the bane of my existence moved out after weeks of everyone in the building calling the police on a regular basis. Only one problem, their dog is still here. Still barking. How do I know? Oh, because it barks all day, every day. They, and one other tenant that was thankfully evicted a few months back, really have ruined a good thing. We love the maintenance people, the units are pretty nice, but the few bad apples are really killing me. read more

I figured maybe it was just a few bad reviews but after speaking with Mark for five minutes I would NEVER rent from them. He was rude, arrogant, snippy, and would barely answer my questions. As a former tenant I was extremely impressed with TGM McDowell management. I was living in my town home prior to TGM, through the transition and after they took over the management of the property. The management team, maintenance and overall property operations have been far better compared to other property management companies I've dealt with in the past. Don't, just don't. If I had the money to move I would. No parking, pool is open 3 months out the year, people don't pick up after their dogs, I had a mouse in my Townhome unit and I'm OCD about being clean. Dont think about getting a townhouse unit because every step you take upstairs it's like someone is jumping around. Horrible. My dryer wasn't hooked up for the first year - huge fire hazard. AC unit flooded my kitchen and they just put a fan on it for 2 days. Carpeting is ripping up, everything is ghetto when you really look. I had my front door handle come off and then the same day, so funny really, my bathroom door knob tore off too. Easy fix but not cool. So many other things. Just don't waste your money or time. I had to move out asap with 2 dogs and the idea of living across my work on Diehl I was down. But overall, I could be way better off for $1820 a month. YES! $1820. I dont do reviews...until now because I'm beyond myself with the shiftyness of the people that work here. Cant even get the light post fixed after an entire year asking. Too may things to write. I'd never recommend anyone live here despite being great apartments and a very nice community. I've lived in 6 other apartments over the last decade and never once had a significant disagreement about anything. I've always gotten most if not all of my security deposits back at move out and always left the apartment clean. This place will nickel and dime you for everything, particularly at renewal and move out. I was charged for replacement of the carpet that was left in great condition, with no stains or noticeable wear. Beware and look elsewhere. They look like great value but not worth the hassle. read more

06-27-14 was the day of the inspection / test for the smoke alarm and fire alarm. So the maintence person and the vendor they hired to do the test entered my apartment, do I asked them politely "please take off your shoes before entering". So the maintence person was taking off his shoes and the vendor said I need to get to the patio door. So I walked over to the patio door and opened it and the vendor person was already in my apartment WITH HIS SHOES ON. The maintence guy then just stepped out of the door and stood by the entrance while the vendor did the test with his shoes on and walked all over the carpet. After they left, I immediately called the office and complained. After a short while the maintenance manger called my and asked for more detail. He told me that they cannot take off their shoes because if something happens they are not covered, but they were should have wore a cover / socks over their shoes and the maintenance person should have told the vendor to put the cover / socks over his shoe before entering. And that he will have a talk with them right away. I do not bring my own shoes on to the carpet because the shoes are worn outside and are not clean, you walk into public washrooms with them and many uncleared places. So why would you bring shoes into a house with a carpet with, when the residence do not bring their own shoes. You walk barefoot on to the carpet and those germs from the dirty shoes are on the carpet and you take the germs to your bed when you sleep. What if you had a baby that crawls and has his / her hands I'm their mouth, all the germs going into the babies mouth. If a person does not respect you, they do not have respect for them self and they should not respected. Note: Both the maintenance person and vendor heard me clearly. Good ambiance but poor quality service, referral amount was not given, false promises made. I would not recommend the place to stay. Final calculation was done wrong by the staff, we were sincere to bring to their notice. but being their mistake, we were asked to pay the late fees, Why the hell we should pay for their mistake??. The managers and staff are damn waste, they never help the customers. read more
