After trying to make a reservation at 2 local Thai places in more pedestrian areas, with no luck, we called Thai Amarin and they said to come on in. A huge space on Center Street in Newton Corner, directly across on the same side as Bertucci's. Large lot in the back, but was free as it was a Sunday. However their web page says free parking garage for customers. Excellent service from the get go, comprehensive menu. We all agreed that it was very good and would return. The obligatory Papaya Salad ordered very spicy, was excellent. Of the dishes that we enjoyed were the Pad Woo Sen with Shrimp, A crispy duck curry, a traditional shrimp pad Thai and another curry that I can't confirm as the website does not have the dinner menu (none that I could find). We had huge cups of tea that were cheerfully refilled during our dining experience. We love Thai Cuisine and I can say with confidence that this is a dynamite spot, spacious, with warm & inviting service. Fairly priced as well. read more

I had to pay for parking in a municipal lot. There is no street parking. At first glance, it looks like an upscale Thai restaurant. At least that is what they want you to think to justify the high prices. The server came right over when I sat down. She had a smile on her face. I had to ask for some hot sauce rather than having it right on the table.. Also they never brought me a knife and forks. I had to take one off a place setting at my table. I like to start my dinner with an appetizer. I think 8:00 is overpriced for vegetable spring rolls especially given that fact that I was presented with four deep fried rolls with very little vegetables inside the roll. nothing to brag about. I had pad Thai that was delicious. But then again who can screw up pad Thai? The only reason I gave it three stars was the pad Thai. There is nothing that would encourage me to return. I came here with a friend for lunch and there was a lunch menu lunch is around $16 depending on what you order. I had a tamarind duck which was delicious and tried the mango curry which was meh since the chicken was chewy,, and the mango sticky rice is divine! But of course I came at the tail end of lunch. They have a way of telling you to go after they had to hurry my sticky rice because the kitchen was closing at 3 PM but as we were about to pay the bill, I was in deep conversation, I asked the server if we could stay a little longer even though we're not gonna order anything, but she didn't really answer the question directly. She said that all the kitchen is closing...fine! And the lights were shut down. This place should really have 5 stars. As a self proclaimed Thai food connoisseur, I have been here SEVERAL times and the food is consistent, flavorful, and executed gracefully. The classic Thai noodles here (pad see ew, pad kee mao, pad thai) are packed with authentic flavor. Portions are excellent. They have a variety of interesting entree dishes (chicken, duck, beef etc). I have tried several and they are always excellent and complimentary. I highly recommend the fish fillets. So crispy and seasoned well. The sushi here is also amazing. Fish quality is fresh, smooth, and fatty. Large, open space perfect for families or get togethers. Ambiance is relaxing with jazz playing in the background. I've been wanting to try this place for a while, but always held off because of the distance. However, I was recently at a location that was only 10 minutes away and had to take that opportunity. Without a doubt I will be going back whenever I want Thai food regardless of distance. My sister and mom said they weren't hungry, but both couldn't resist once they saw how aesthetically pleasing the food looked. They echoed the same sentiments as me, the best Thai food we've had in years! We're vegetarian so we need a good variety of vegetables with our tofu. I've never before gotten a dish so perfectly filled with all sorts of vegetables, delicious sauces, and perfectly portioned tofu. Wonderful place for Tai and Sushi...though there is no sushi on Monday through Wednesday... I like sushi so I ordered three salmon nigera (1 smoked, two regular), and a salmon roll. The roll was served first and you could taste how fresh the salmon was. The sushi chef then came to my table and asked if I would like to try his Tosh (sp?) version in place of one of the regular salmon sushi. He explained it is a fatty salmon and the kind of seer it with a torch. It was excellent and much better that a "regular " sushi. I came here with my parents for dinner. There was no wait when we arrived. This place was a childhood favorite of mine, so I was pumped to come back. We ordered shrimp pad Thai, chicken yellow curry, and crispy rolls. The pad thai wasn't bad - the portion size was very small for the price. There were very few pieces of shrimp, which was very disappointing. The chicken yellow curry also wasn't great. There were maybe ~5 small slices of chicken in there, which isn't a lot. The dish was mainly just onions. The curry, itself, was very thin and watery. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be that way, but I wasn't a huge fan. The rolls were pretty good! I loved the sweet chili sauce that comes with it. I drizzled a little of the sweet chili sauce on the pad thai, since the pad thai wasn't that flavorful. The waitress we had wasn't friendly. She never smiled once and seemed very grumpy the entire time we were there. She also wasn't very attentive. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. One of my parents swore that we weren't coming back. We used to come here a ton while I was growing up (and I loved this place a ton back then) but apparently they changed management... maybe that's why the quality went down. Yikes, need a cleanup on aisle 5... we have a massive oil spill. See pictures for how disgustingly soaked those pad Thai noodles were... and that's from just the amount of noodles that remained! I felt sick after eating over half, and then realized why when I tilted the container. Big portion sizes, so you can order a lot if you're into dishes like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and all of their appetizers are delicious as well! If you have leftovers, this stuff also microwaves/heats up really well. Store: Overall, nothing disappointed me during my visit there for both Japanese food (San Ryo Ka) then Thai Food (Thai Amarin). Prices are very reasonable for the portion and quality of food you get. Presentation of food is also stunning, they make it very insta-worthy and add a nice Thai touch to everything. We visited Thai Amarin after seeing that a new sushi menu - San Ryo Ka - opened within their establishment. We went on a Saturday which was pretty busy but the service was still good. For food we got the Ikura nigiri which is a classic. We also tried the volcano roll which has a nice kick to it (and it's shaped like a volcano!). The salmon sashimi was fatty and delicious. The grand slam was a great combination of flavors with the torched salmon, avocado and the different sauces used. The spicy salmon tempura had a great crunch to it and wasn't too spicy. The pad Thai had a great balance of flavors from that slight sweetness to the crunchy peanuts. Lastly, the chef actually gave us a torched salmon belly on the house which was so kind of him. The salmon was so good, it melted in your mouth. This nigiri was very nicely balanced. Although they were very busy, the service was still really good. Our waitress explained to us that there may be a bit of a wait and apologized for it. They would come and check in to see what we were still missing. Not to mention, the chef gave us the nigiris on the house for the slight wait. Our wait was honestly not long but their staff was needless to say, very kind. Main course were the highlight of dinner. - Yellow curry with chicken was rich in flavor but not overpowering. It had small chunks of pineapple which complimented the sauce tremendously. I've been coming here for about 8 years now - since it was even Amarin of Thailand before May of 2017. I love Thai food, and this place definitely satisfies Thai cravings once a week (or more sometimes haha). Favs: Grapow chicken, drunken noodles, pad woon sen, and other "on the rice" specials I do miss the Singapore Noodles that used to be on the menu before the menu changed about a year ago. I especially loved the the dumplings and wish they had shrimp / pork dumplings as well. The portion size of the dumpling could have been larger I think, but the food is delicious. We ordered Thai Iced teas to start, and they were just the right sweetness. We then ordered the golden bags and the fresh rolls with shrimps and found that they were absolutely delicious. It was our first time trying golden bags and we quickly discovered that they had a delicious curry taste!
