The food was good. I like the decor and the ambience of the restaurant. The service also was good. I will go again...

Cool ambience and good service, especially for a big group of us! I really enjoyed the apps but I was bummed there were no N/A options. I ordered the red curry and sort of wish I went with a noodle dish instead. The curry was ok but not the best. It felt like there was a little too much coconut milk in it but maybe it's because I asked for it mild.

Thursday night in Newton took an unexpected turn as Buff's wings spot was jam-packed with an hour-long wait. Enter Plan B: a charming Thai gem we spotted off the bus, delightfully empty. Asian food always wins. The restaurant's interior was a visual treat, and the staff radiated warmth. The food, undeniably solid, came with a slight price tag and an extra charge for rice-- a perplexing concept for me. Yet, they worked wonders with a dish that featured eggplant, a dish I usually approach cautiously depending on whose cooking lol. All and all solid place with a really welcoming and considerate staff. What we got Beef saignon Veggie Rolls Pork Ginger Purple Dress beef Prices $$ Food 7 Atmosphere 7 Service 7

The Thai food here is pretty good. It is slightly above average since the flavors are good. The flavors are familiar but not wow. This is still solid for Thai food if you are local around the area. The portion size is in the smaller side and I wish they added some sort of vegetables in the Pad Thai. The beef and broccoli is standard as well. Overall, this is still a pretty solid place for Thai food.

I came here with a friend for lunch and there was a lunch menu lunch is around $16 depending on what you order. I had a tamarind duck which was delicious and tried the mango curry which was meh since the chicken was chewy,, and the mango sticky rice is divine! But of course I came at the tail end of lunch. They have a way of telling you to go after they had to hurry my sticky rice because the kitchen was closing at 3 PM but as we were about to pay the bill, I was in deep conversation, I asked the server if we could stay a little longer even though we're not gonna order anything, but she didn't really answer the question directly. She said that all the kitchen is closing...fine! And the lights were shut down. Upon leaving the restaurant, my friend and I saw one of the cooks lie down with his smart phone watching a movie on the waiting room front couch as if he was in his living room, barefoot and all. Oh well.

Japanese Food (San Ryo Ka): Hands down, some of the best sushi I've ever had in my life. SO beautiful, colorful, fresh, filling, so much to choose from and overall, literally soooooo good. Sushi is one of my favorite foods and everything here was amazing! Thai Food: AMAZING. As a Thai-American foodie, all of Thai Amarin's dishes were incredible. Big portion sizes, so you can order a lot if you're into dishes like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and all of their appetizers are delicious as well! If you have leftovers, this stuff also microwaves/heats up really well. Store: Overall, nothing disappointed me during my visit there for both Japanese food (San Ryo Ka) then Thai Food (Thai Amarin). Prices are very reasonable for the portion and quality of food you get. Presentation of food is also stunning, they make it very insta-worthy and add a nice Thai touch to everything. I came during COVID and the store was pretty empty, bathrooms were also clean. Suuuper nice owners, very friendly, knows their menu well and just overall nice people who genuinely care about serving their customers well. Only thing is it's out in Newton, but I promise you if you live in the city, it is definitely worth a trip or Uber ride because seriously this place is amazing!

This place should really have 5 stars. As a self proclaimed Thai food connoisseur, I have been here SEVERAL times and the food is consistent, flavorful, and executed gracefully. The classic Thai noodles here (pad see ew, pad kee mao, pad thai) are packed with authentic flavor. Portions are excellent. They have a variety of interesting entree dishes (chicken, duck, beef etc). I have tried several and they are always excellent and complimentary. I highly recommend the fish fillets. So crispy and seasoned well. The sushi here is also amazing. Fish quality is fresh, smooth, and fatty. Large, open space perfect for families or get togethers. Ambiance is relaxing with jazz playing in the background. Service is also great, waiters are attentive and kind. Such a hidden gem in Newton!

I came here with my parents for dinner. There was no wait when we arrived. This place was a childhood favorite of mine, so I was pumped to come back. We ordered shrimp pad Thai, chicken yellow curry, and crispy rolls. The pad thai wasn't bad - the portion size was very small for the price. There were very few pieces of shrimp, which was very disappointing. The chicken yellow curry also wasn't great. There were maybe ~5 small slices of chicken in there, which isn't a lot. The dish was mainly just onions. The curry, itself, was very thin and watery. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be that way, but I wasn't a huge fan. The rolls were pretty good! I loved the sweet chili sauce that comes with it. I drizzled a little of the sweet chili sauce on the pad thai, since the pad thai wasn't that flavorful. The waitress we had wasn't friendly. She never smiled once and seemed very grumpy the entire time we were there. She also wasn't very attentive. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. One of my parents swore that we weren't coming back. We used to come here a ton while I was growing up (and I loved this place a ton back then) but apparently they changed management... maybe that's why the quality went down. I doubt I'll be back.

Nice quality tables and chairs as well as decorations creates an inviting environment. The warmth of the staff also makes it inviting. Food Type: What you would expect like Street food, classics. noodles and curries and a few regional specialties. Prices: Reasonable for food of this quality. We spent $90 pre-tip for three including an appetizer and a few beers (for me only). Food Quality: Very Good. We had three dishes and an appetizer and shared everything. Singha and Leo beer available as expected washed it down. I have been to Thailand on business trips and vacation and by no means have a palette capable of detecting nuances in regional dishes (I can a bit for Korean and Japanese due to extended time spent there), but could taste it was a bit playing to the American tastes. Still really good. Service: Friendly and generally fast. Minus (-) The meals came out separately. Meal one came with the appetizer. Then 7-10 minutes the second meal. Then 7-10 minutes the third meal. If eating American style ie everyone eats only their own meal, this would be a real problem. As my wife is Korean we usually eat family style (we often share meals at American restaurants, why not, you get to try more dishes), so this was not an issue really. The pluses outweigh negative it is still 4.5 rounder to 5. Absolutely worth a try. Enjoy!

Back then, they were a normal-style restaurant (similar system to Panda Express). After that first time, I quickly became a repeat customer because of their catfish, pork soup, and the crispy pork. Just those three were sufficient and then several months later, they became a buffet-style restaurant. I was elated. They experimented with other dishes but the crispy pork remained my favorite. No matter what dish they make, all of them were infused with strong flavors and mouth-watering aroma. It is truly a tragedy that this restaurant closed. Service/wait-time/cleanliness (1.5/2): The people here were incredibly courteous and kind whenever they served us. Wait-time can be rather long ever since they converted to a buffet-style but somehow they still manage to keep the restaurant clean and well-kept. Price (1/1): Even back when they were NOT a buffet, their price were very reasonable for the amount of food they give. That positive is multiplied so many times once they transitioned to buffet-style.

The Pla Pad Kun Chai which is a fried cod fillet, with a mix of root spices and Chinese celery, had some complex flavors that didn't pan out - the fish itself was breaded in a batter that was perhaps a bit too MSG-laden, and not enough distinctive a flavor to justify its saltiness; and the Chinese celery was really tough, which didn't make for a good bite of texture. The green onions were too crispy relative to the other alliums. The Kao Soi Brisket had some decent beef pieces, but then some of the other pieces were way tough. The soup (or is it a sauce?) was way thick, and overall the dish was overly salted. There also needs to be more noodle, and more mustard green overall. The curry puff was a good idea, but the puff itself was rather dry, and not particularly well integrated with the chicken, potatoes, and alliums. The stuffing might also have been underseasoned. In general the dishes demonstrate expert preparation, but the concepts need reworking. The new environment (across the street from the former location) is a tad loud when populated with many diners, though visually it's a pleasant place to dine. The servers were attentive and respectful.

I'm glad I didn't judge it by it's outwardly appearance because it was actually freaking tasty!!! The inside is ... also interesting looking. The service was fast but lacking enthusiasm and could have been a little more friendly and welcoming. The first time I tried it was in person ... inside the restaurant. The first time I ordered it via UberEats, it was ok, but the second time, it was just horrible ... like way too greasy with no flavor. Just grease and oil. For this reason, I give the rating I did. Arriving at 6, our party of 4 received seating immediately; the establishment only had a few other tables occupied (they did have a decent number of delivery orders). We ordered everything to share, I sampled the following: - Sai Oua | $10 - Crying Tiger | $16 - Kra-Pow w/ground Pork | $14 - Drunken Noodle w/Beef | $16 The Sai Oua, a Northern Thai style of sausage, had both strong lemongrass and earthy herbal flavors. This proved quite addictive; the plate emptied quickly. The Crying Tiger, a grilled steak, proved equally popular given the savory marinade's interplay with tangy dipping sauces. The Kra-Pow w/ground pork, an orthodox menu item representing ground pork sautéed with chili, garlic, basil leaves with hot basil sauce over rice, met expectations. The Drunken noodle with beef, another orthodox menu item, this time with sautéed flat rice noodles with egg, basil, bamboo shoots, bell peppers, and onions in spicy basil sauce, also tasted decent. Notably, the spicy sauce actually had some heat and didn't just taste like soy sauce. Overall, I enjoyed everything. The starting 2 appetizers stood out compared to the mains mostly because of the novelty. The portion sized did seem a bit small, but given the quality, I can understand the establishment trying to maintain a certain price point.
