Unlike the typical Thai restaurants in the Boston area, Thai Amarin has more family style (shareable) dishes. The interior is more classy than the usuals My parents and I started off with 3 different types of soups (also ranked) - Tom Yum Goong, Wonton Soup, and Glass Noodle soup ($4.50 each). I liked that the Glass Noodle soup has a lot of vegetables in it. The Wonton soup was more flavorful than the Glass Noodle soup, and the Tom Yum was obviously the most flavorful one. We also ordered the Gold Bags ($6), which are deep fried bags of chopped chicken seasoned with onion, corn, carrot, peas and curry powder. Tasted like curry puff if you know what that is. It was served with sweet chili sauce. For the main dishes, we ordered the Hot Salmon Classic ($17.95), Red Curry chicken ($12.95), Seafood madness ($16.95), Pineapple fried rice ($11.50), and Vegetable Delight ($11.50). We got extra hot and spicy for both the salmon, red curry and seafood madness. My favorite was probably the pineapple fried rice because I liked the sweet taste to it, and there were a lot of onions, which I love!! Completely idiot and mannerless servers. We paid by card and kept a tip in cash on the table. But alas, the server dis not see the cash on table and (i swear this is not made up) she run to us outside of restaurant door to ask why we did not leave the tip. Had the lunch green curry with shrimp. It was delicious. I appreciated that on GrubHub they give you the option to specify how hot you want it. I went with "Extremely spicy." Unfortunately it did not make me cry. It didn't even make me sweat a drop. So if you're a fellow masochist, you're likely going to have to be very adamant about the fact that you really want it to hurt. Because while delicious, it certainly was not "Extremely spicy." Also the shrimp isn't the move. They use little baby shrimp. Next time I'm gonna go with chicken. And the dinner curry is $1.00 more than the lunch curry. I'm assuming the dinner portion is larger than the lunch, as the lunch was quite small. So why 4 stars after these gripes? Potential. That's why. If it were hotter and a larger portion, it would definitely be 5 star material. And I think both of those things are achievable. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with vegetables for takeout and it was very subpar. The noodle to vegetable ratio wasn't to my liking. There definitely wasn't enough noodles. It also had too much oil and not enough sauce to the actual noodles. For some reason, the vegetables tasted bland and not flavored enough too. I don't think I will order from here again. read more

This is a review for San Ryo Ka, the new sushi restaurant operating within Thai Amarin. The sushi here is great. It's very fresh and there are unique flavor combinations from the Thai / Southeast Asian influence. I can be sensitive to the "fishy" taste of raw fishes, but I can say nothing here triggered that. My favorites were the uni, tuna tartare, and the mango shrimp tempura roll. Many options for drinks as well, we went with a Thai iced tea and a sparkling wine. The wines are available in mini bottles which are super cute. The interior is well decorated. They are located right off the highway which is convenient. I'm hoping to go back to try the Thai food menu! read more

The best authentic Thai food that we've ever ate! I had a soft crab/shrimp coconut curry dish and the flavors were amazing!! Elias had the Red curry chicken and it was to die for. We also got Thai iced tea, which was bold and flavorful, and the crab Rangoon's were immaculate!! I have heard such great things about San Ryo Ka and the sushi that I had to try it. Unfortunately it was not the experience I was hoping for. The service was extremely slow, even considering the restaurant was practically empty. My friend got her appetizer about 15 minutes before I got mine. I got the Grand Slam and she got the chicken dumplings and tuna tartar. Grand slam looked delicious, tasted pretty good. About an hour after we ordered we got our sushi rolls. We got the volcano roll to share and I got a rainbow roll. Volcano roll looked beautiful but had way too much mayo and the scallops were chewy. My rainbow roll tasted fishy. Definitely not fresh fish. Fish looked brown and had a fishy smell. I told the waitress and she didn't see to care. Just said "sorry about that." The Thai food is really flavorful! Wait staff was very friendly and helpful while recommends several great dishes to us. My friend and I went on one of the coldest days in the winter, and the restaurant was not very well insulated, so we had our winter coats on throughout the whole meal. The wait staff was very apologetic. Hopefully this can be improved soon! We didn't get a chance to try their Japanese menu, but will definitely return for Thai dishes!! read more

I had dined here several times in the past and was pleased with the experience so yesterday I suggested it to a friend. This time, however, I was very disappointed by the lack of taste in the meal I ordered. First, the Tom Young Kung soup was the worst I've ever had . I just pushed it aside after several spoonfuls. Next came the bland, I mean flavorless Chicken Ginger, usually one of my favorite Thai dishes. Nope, nope, nope! I nearly "popped" a taste bud trying to find a hint of Ginger. In all fairness the ice water was cold and refreshing; the white rice was cooked to perfection. Please forgive my sarcasm - better that instead of the fowl language I'm holding back. This restaurant has been around the Boston area longer than I have. Although I have gone there many times over many years, today I was positively surprised again. It truly looks like an American Thai restaurant and may be it is to some extend, but it is noteworthy: 1. The fisherman noodles are authentic albeit slightly moderated in spiciness, but still pleasantly spiced 2. Also, they say potatoes on the menu but it was actually made with sweet potatoes which I don't like, that was a bummer. Also, the curry doesn't come with rice. The pad thai was also just okay. Worst service. The servers are so rude and impolite so is the manager . It's not kid friendly , there is no changing station in the family bathroom when asked the manager he said you will have to change without that. Wonderful food and service - the drunken noodles were perfectly spicy for me: I ordered medium spicy and was nervous it wouldn't be spicy enough, but it was lovely - felt the heat without full on sweating either. My mom loved the pad see ew with chicken. I also ordered online and went to the restaurant to pick up the order, and the staff were so kind. I wasn't even waiting very long (granted, I went to the restaurant before I even got the confirmation email that my order was ready) and the person at the pickup desk was so accommodating. He even gave me a thai iced tea and thanked me for my time. For the record, the thai iced tea is delicious here as well :) Definitely will be making a return here soon!! read more

If there could be no star, that's what I would give. The food is OLD and has been sitting around for some time. Everything has been overcooked and over steamed. The chicken tasted like it's been sitting for days. I called and was told that because I ordered online, it's a different company and they couldn't do anything regarding a refund. It's a classier restaurant that seems good for date nights and business lunches alike. I ordered the "Crazy Noodles" which is essentially Pad See Ew without the fried egg and with sautéed eggplants. The platting was solid and the meal was satisfying. The eggplant was also well soaked in the sauce and I liked it more than expected. The noodles are standard wide rice noodles with a light chewy texture. I asked for more spicy, but it didn't seem like there was any extra. If I came back or was in the area, I'd certainly visit again. read more

I still love this place - but the people are different (which makes me so sad) and what I ordered as my main dish was quite disappointing. - Seaman' Plater (supposed to be 3 hot chili peppers) was not hot at all - sooo sad! the fish was overpowered with some kinda sweet sauce similar to hot and sour sauce. NOT GOOD - just skip this dish all together Emily's Choice: Kaeng Koong (Sauteed shrimps with coconut curry, butternut squash, asparagus, baby corns, bamboo shoots, hot pepper and basil leaves) was amazing. So I take back the fact that I don't love coconut in food - this was surprisingly awesome. It must be the coconut and peppers that did me in. OH SO GOOD. This is literally the best Thai restaurant I've ever been to. I eat a lot of pad Thai and I will drive out of my way to get it from here. Both the chicken and veggie are great! Everything is cooked exceptionally well and tastes very fresh. The ambiance is elegant, well decorated and very clean. And the staff is so welcoming! The only thing I can say about this place is that it is WHITEWASHED THAI FOOD. I'm sure it's popular for business lunches and it's a really nice atmosphere but the food is just.. Meh. Kind of tasteless. I also asked for max level spiciness and my pad thai was basically not spicy at all. I had to use half of the entire container of chili on my meal just to give it some flavor. We stopped by and this place was totally empty. There were these cool little seats in the middle of the restaurant but we were told we couldn't sit there unless we had a party of 4. I totally get it if the restaurant was busy but there was literally only two other couples there. Anyways that was strike 1.. We ordered the pad thai and the red curry. Pad thai= not good. So sad. The flavor was off, and it was bland overall. Red curry was lacking in depth and at best could be considered average. We may have gotten an app but it's a faint memory.. Every app we've had has also been delicious... the curry puffs, the steamed chicken dumplings, the beef satay all super tasty. First time here and I would definitely be back! It's a little pricey for dinner (around $10-12?) but lunch is pricing is not bad (around $8-10). Since I work almost right across the street from this place, it's so convenient.. Almost too convenient!! I ordered the chicken masaman curry $8 - comes with chicken, sweet potato, onion, and peanuts. Yum! It was perfectly saucy and I loved that they used sweet potatoes!! I tried to tell myself I shouldn't eat the whole thing... But I couldn't help but scarf the whole meal down.! My coworkers got the pad Thai, amaranth noodles (they're green noodles!) and other curries. Everything smelled delicious. I went to pick up the take out of us and from the outside, the place just looks like it's apart of another business building. But when you enter -- it's like you are transported somewhere else!! It's beautiful inside. They have this center seating area that seem to be decorated so you can have the full Thai experience! I love it. I definitely want to come back to sit there. Overall, definitely recommend this place! I can't wait to come back. Now that I've tried it.. It's going to be very hard not to have it for lunch all the time... This is one of our favorite places to get lunch over weekends or in general when we feel like thai. We moved to Boston area in May 08 and this was our first restaurant after we landed and we have been frequent visitors even since. I like their Tom Yum soup, rightly spiced, hot and hint of sweetness - exactly how I like it. It has shrimp which I am ok with. --- the most recent meal, lunch here --- My wife is a vegetarian so we ordered vegetarian spring rolls (fried, 6 pieces) , the waiter was nice enough to offer vegetarian spring rolls ( apparently for lunch they only have the chicken stuffed fried spring rolls). I ordered the pepper chicken with mango, it is a bit on the sweeter side which I expected since it had mango. I have tired their green and red curry chicken, both are good but I prefer their green curry. My wife always orders their Crazy noodles and she almost never regrets it ( I always steal the last few bits left in her plate and always wish I ordered that w chicken). Overall I would rate it 4/5. The only think we donot like is one of the waiters is not 'polite' enough and is just under 'rude'. If only they improved they made the service feel more 'inviting' they could attract more visitors and probably steal customers from the Bertucci's right next to them. read more
