I had actually planned to order a drink and stay awhile before class, but I felt so uncomfortable that I just wanted to pay and leave. I can absolutely take responsibility if I misunderstood the description of the roll I ordered, but that's also why being able to ask questions would've made such a difference. What I received was not at all what I expected, and I probably would have chosen something completely different had I felt like I had the opportunity to ask what was actually inside the rolls. I normally LOVE small, locally owned restaurants and was genuinely hoping this would become somewhere I'd come back to. Unfortunately, for a first-time customer, the experience made me feel like they couldn't wait for me to leave. I still left a $10 tip on a $21 bill, but I left hungry, disappointed, and honestly really upset by the entire experience.

It is located on Ford Rd, with IKEA, Carvel, and Buffalo Wild Wings serving as landmarks. The restaurant is dark, which always makes me a bit uneasy. Some chefs/owners may claim that it sets a mood, but I feel that it hides dirt and makes it challenging to discern ingredients. I quickly reviewed the menu and then carefully read all the ingredients to ensure that nothing I ordered contained salmon (an unfortunate allergy) and cream cheese. The latter because, after many, many attempts, I just don't like that ingredient in sushi rolls. I ordered the Tiger and Sunflower rolls. The Tiger roll starts with shrimp tempura wrapped with cucumber strips, crab stick, and eel, topped with more shrimp, avocado, and eel sauce. I also ordered the Sunflower roll and requested that the salmon be removed. It contained a mosaic of fish: white fish, tuna, yellowtail, escolar, (cooked) shrimp, crab stick, as well as avocado, and tamago. So very pretty. The Sunflower roll was, sadly, very bland. I don't think it was because of the missing salmon. I did like the Tiger roll, though. The mackerel sashimi and tamago also hit the spot, as they always do. Service was lovely. The servers were friendly and responsive. They quickly got take-out orders for the steady stream of customers.

I asked for low sodium soy sauce when my sushi came out and waited at least 5 minutes before giving up and using the regular soy sauce... A couple minutes later the waitress finally brought the low sodium version, said nothing about it being lost or any other possible explanation for taking so long, said something like "Oh" when she saw I had used the regular one already. But, I also think she didn't speak English. When I was more than halfway done eating but obviously still eating, she brought over the bill. As I was still eating, she came by, picked it up, and opened it to check if my card was in it, I kid you not, 3 separate times, over the course of maybe 10 minutes. I had to ask for more water when it was already empty. One time she got more water, the other time she literally walked away as I was talking to her...but again, I don't think she was purposely ignoring me as much as she seemed afraid of me? She probably thought I was laughing at her but really I just laugh awkwardly as a defense mechanism in awkward situations...oh well! Would I recommend this place for the delicious food? Sure! Would I go out of my way to come here again after whatever that service experience was? Personally, no, because I didn't feel like anyone was even trying to provide good service.
