This review takes into consideration that we are in Thornton.... and that this is the same Thai Basil that is famous in Denver. Yesterday we decided that we we're going to go out for dinner and that definitely we wanted Thai. So like all other residents of the Denver area that are "in the know", this means we are going to Thai Basil. I logged into Yelp because I have a new GPS unit and wanted to see how it would route me down to the Wash Park area location... and I see this entry for a Thai Basil in Thornton ( my eyes bug out at this point ). I do the double check on the Thai Basil website and yes.... it's true they have opened a new location North on 120th. We are definitely going to this one.... We arrive at 6pm ( we are early diners ) and there was one table that had been sat... all others we're open and we were greeted and seated right away. I did read a review in which a yelper complained about the seating and size of the venue, but to me... the restaurant was the perfect size ( a sign on the wall proclaims max occupancy is 32). This size ensures that the kitchen is not going to be distracted or over burdened. The chairs are large and the tables are at a nice height. I am 6'0, 270lbs, and I did not feel crowded at all.... I'm not sure why the complaint was made by the other yelper, but if you have ever been to Snooze on Colorado... you'll feel like this establishment is extremely spacious! The service was lighting fast and the Thai Iced Tea was on the table almost as fast as I could say "thai iced tea please". Our server was quick to take our order and during the time that we arrived and ordered, they had sat half of the tables. By the time we had finished our soup, the entire place was at capacity and folks were now waiting patiently at the fron for their turn to dine at the Denver legend in the Thornton hinterlands. So word is out on the northside that Thai Basil is here, so be prepared for a little wait if you don't get there early enough. the food was stellar! The qulaity of the ingredients was top notch. The portions were large and at the prices they are charging it's an unbelievable value. I would have expected to pay about 11-13 for my entree but was only charged 8.95. The quality and the taste is exactly what you would expect at the original Thai Basil location, so this location is a 5-star rating for me. We no longer have to make the trek south to enjoy this outstanding fare. We no longer have to defend ourselves to the hipsters who question our decision to live on the North Side any longer. All we have to say is... " Come meet us for Thai at Thai Basil on 120th!!". Don't forget to go toColdstone creamery right next door! What a perfect ending to some spicy Thai Basil. Fantastic Thai in the suburban food mecca which is Thornton :) Oh what a surprise it is when you find a hidden jewel such as Thai Basil. I was tired of going to my other Thai place so yelped around and found this place. I have now visited several times doing either Pad Thai or Drunken Noodles with a variety of proteins, chicken, Beef, shrimp.. and combo. We ordered spring rolls and Pad Thai. The spring rolls have nothing but too many weird noodles, fake shrimp, some gelatinous rice paper and the tiniest amount of cilantro. The Pad Thai tasted like it had a gallon of sugar in it, the meat was that of a $1 dollar Chinese place, and it came with a lemon.... I asked for a lime and they said they don't have limes. I've never been to a Thai place that didn't have limes. Look to other reviews (which I agree with) that say this place is a cheap Chinese place with Thai in the name and no Thai in the actual cuisine. Will not return. read more

Very surprised to find this gem in Northglenn - of all places! Excellent Thai food. Excellent, considerate service. Cozy ambience - possible date restaurant. I had the curry chicken with peanut sauce, and my girlfriend had the sesame chicken. I had leftovers to last me two more meals. And for the price? Awesome. Stopped in here for lunch with the husband the other day. I mainly wanted to come here for the thai tea. The tea was very good. The food tasted very similar to some Chinese restaurants I've been to (that's weird) but it was still very good. My husband ordered the spicy ginger shrimp dish and there was not a speck of food left on his plate. He loved it! I had the lemongrass chicken. It was quite tasty, not really what I was expecting (a little sweet) but still good. Next time I will probably try something different. We both ordered lunch sized orders which came with fried rice and one egg roll. I am very hard to please with egg rolls (and spring rolls) and I thought they were less than tasty. I don't like when it's only cabbage in the roll with no carrots (or meat or something!). I gave it to Matt to eat. We also had an order of crab and cream cheese wontons to share. They were really good, not the best I've ever had, but still yummy. However, I almost gave them 3 stars for two reasons. One, the waitress wasn't very friendly. (And considering the capacity is only 32 people you would think you would have a more personable experience.) And two, our account was pending a double-charge for several days. We had to keep checking the account to make sure it wasn't going to double charge us. It didn't (thankfully) but the waitress should have told us she charged us twice and cancelled one of the transactions (for peace of mind). In the end the tea and food definitely made it worth four stars. We will come here again soon to try other items. It's very reasonably priced. I hope they succeed because there wasn't a thai restaurant within an hour of my house before Thai Basil opened. read more

Went there yesterday for lunch and would definitely return. I had Pad Thai and my wife had Royal Chicken. Both were very good and were huge portions. The service was friendly and fast. The waitress was very helpful and had suggestions for our next visit. Small place but wasn't loud and the tables are not crowded together. Reasonably priced and good variety on the menu. This place was extremely good, I was impressed since I usually don't like going to places I'm not sure of but they give you quite a bit of food for the price and everything tasted super super fresh^_^ I had chicken pineapple curry and the chicken wasn't dry(which is something I experience with a lot of Currys) and the curry had a bit of spice to it, perfect amount to cut the sweetness. So glad we were nearby and tried this place tonight! Compared to other places in the area, I think this might be one of my favorites now. We ordered pineapple curry, panang curry, and drunken noodles. The portions are huge. I couldn't even eat half of my curry, but that's ok because leftovers are always good! The flavors of the curry were excellent, however, it was a bit sweet for my tastes, and wasn't at all spicy even though I asked for med-hot. I think if it were spicier then it would've balanced the sweetness better. The drunken noodles were my favorite though...very flavorful, although again not as spicy as I'd like. I think next time I'll just ask for as hot as they can make it then it might be better. Despite the lack of spice, the food overall was great and the service for pick up was extremely fast (they had it ready in 10 minutes). read more

So this place has the BEST of everything...I've been coming here for 8 years and it's some of the most delicious Thai food...their peanut sauce is to die for paired with spring rolls. I've been here a total of 3 times. . . It's a really clean and tidy place! They did great w/ the decor considering the space they had to work with. The best dish i've had is their Thai eggplant. Their coconut soup is ok and fills the need. Other known goods are their Crab Rangoons and Sriracha Beef. I've had some garlic chicken dish previously. It wasnt that great - and.. well I took it home and it stayed in my fridge for a while, until it was tossed in the trash. The service is alright. This past visit the waitress was polite and attentive. Some waitress we had the first time we ate there was so confused ~ brought out the wrong food, charged us incorrectly and wasn't friendly at all. She even had the cook come out and yell at her.. TWICE!? I felt bad for her! I wanted to hug her and tell her.. just breathe.. it's ok - it's just a job...! My conclusion is - I'll probably skip on this place in the future. This review is for Sunday, March 18th. I came in for dinner around 6:30pm and the restaurant was fairly busy. The person at the front register was on the phone, and curt with her acknowledgement, but then the nice waitress showed me to a seat. I like that they have some Chinese options, as well as the regular Thai fare. I was even happier that I was able to order an appetizer and a soup for one person (usually you have to order a soup large enough for two people. WOW did the Coconut Chicken soup come with a TON of Chicken. (It doesn't say Tom Kah Gai on the menu) Holy crap their Thai ice tea is SWEET. And then I waited... and waited... did I mention I waited for my Panang Curry Chicken to show up? It finally arrived and they must of been trying to make up for the wait - it also had a TON of chicken. The curry had good flavor, and it was decent quantity for two to make a meal out of. I may go back - and go a little earlier, or a little later next time. To the reviewer who ordered Teriyaki Chicken from a Thai restaurant: Shame on you! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Mine and hubbys favorite date night place. They have Coke product (a plus for me) their crab wontons are amazing! My husband loves their potstickers. They are stuffed full and not skimpy at all. This time we went we decided to both try something new. I got pineapple shrimp curry and he got the duck. The curry was good I liked it but GET THE DUCK you will not be disappointed. In the past we have gotten the sesame chicken and the orange beef and those are very good as well. Nothing special about my experience here. Green curry chicken was fine. Portions were reasonable - maybe a couple dollars overpriced for the amount. Chicken was either impressively tenderized or not real chicken - still can't decide. With a lack of Thai food up north, I may still find my way back here. But I'd rather go somewhere else. The service was extremely terrible. From the moment we walked in when the women was clearly in a bad mood, she slammed our food and credit card on the table. When I asked for a couple extra packets of soy sauce she snapped back that there was already some in the bag. Which is why I had asked for extra, there was two packets in the bag. And she got even more upset when I asked for 2 Thai Chili sauce (none in the bag). She gave me one, even tho we had 2 main dish orders. I asked for another and she said no, you pay. Pay for a small chili sauce? I order Thai from alot of places, and never have I been charged for chili sauce when for the amount of food ordered (one sauce per dish). Most places have the sauce out on the tables when you dine in.. Just moved to the area and I will definitely not return, her attitude was bad enough. ***Update base on the food*** The Drunken Noodles were delicious, full of favor, nice and spicy. Ate here for lunch today, first time at a Thai Basil, so my experience is specifically for this location. Ordered a pork noodle bowl, which was the worst I have ever had. I make them better at home. Theirs had no carrots, cilantro, mint, peanuts, cucumber, bean sprouts, jalapeno...just over cooked pork and rice noodles with fish sauce. Then, we had to order bottle water as they wouldn't serve tap water due to COVID, an extra buck. All meals served in to go containers with plastic forks. I'm not sure why Thai basil has a 3.5 star rating. It was fabulous. We ordered egg rolls and dumplings as starters and my husband declared the egg rolls to be the best he's ever had. They were light in texture, but substantial in filling. The dumplings came out fast and were incredibly good. We both ordered pad Thai, one with chicken and one with shrimp. The portions were huge for $9.95. Both of our protein choices were plentiful. Definitely more than expected. The shrimp was cooked to perfection...not rubbery at all. This is by no means a Thai restaurant and there is an old obnoxious rude man working in the front counter taking orders. After I place my order I asked him for the sauce that is traditionally supposed to be served with the Thai fried rice and I use the Thai term for it and he had no clue what I was talking about. Serving Thai food and surprised by him not knowing, I asked him if they are not Thai and then he tells me that he doesn't not have to be Thai to be serving Thai food. I don't care where he's from but if he's working around Thai food he needs to know about it. I tried the food and after the first sip I threw the Thai spicy soup away cause it tasted so awful that it was inedible, the peanut curry chicken was too sweet and too creamy and no spice or taste at all and the Thai fried rice had nothing Thai about it, tasted exactly like a Chinese fried rice but no taste or spice it was actually sweet. If this is considered a Thai restaurant by far this is the worst Thai food I've ever tried. If you are looking for Thai food and if you try this place get ready to be disappointed. One star based on service and manager. Servers walked by us like five times and just looked at us. A table for four came in they got their water and order taken before we even got served. had to get up and asked if we could be served. After having lived in Hawaii, it is not the most amazing Thai food but it is acceptable. It's actually a mish mash of all sorts of Asian food. The green curry is very watery. It's more like soup than anything. I can make better Thai (or any) curry myself. I found the drunken noodles very good, although it was slightly more Chinese than Thai. It was not too greasy, like most Chinese restaurants, and it actually tastes quite like Thai food in that they use sticky sweet soy sauce and spicy pepper with this dish. I would have ordered beef drunken noodles as it is more traditional, but my friend doesn't eat beef so we ordered chicken and it was delicious. I was very surprised to see that the menu did not include Green Papaya Salad. They also serve fortune cookies which is also CHINESE, not Thai. It probably is run by Chinese people just as are many sushi places these days (Matsumotto......which they spelled incorrectly, clearly NOT Japanese if they can't spell their name correctly, but that is a different review). I love the fact that they offer free delivery and that they deliver on time or before. It really depends on what you order as to how good it will be. read more

Yeah, we don't recommend this place. We were hoping to find a good thai restaurant in the area but this is definitely not one of them. First off, there is a lot of chinese and vietnamese food on the menu and not a whole lot of actual thai options. Number two, the food was "meh" - the pad thai was too sweet and the meat in the drunken noodle tasted a little off (which probably contributed to my husband's upset tummy that day). I would rather drive further to eat good thai food than eat here. We won't be back. read more
