We were puttering around Chinatown Market when we decided to grab some dinner & discovered Thai Better. Little did we know, Thai Better is part of a chain with 2 other locations in Utah. The menu is easy to follow with simple offerings. I had tofu pineapple rice, my husband had red curry, & we shared a side of chicken satay. It was all hot, fresh, & delicious - very flavorful. We enjoyed the casual dining experience & colorful surroundings. Staff was attentive. I would recommend this place particularly to those with heat/spice intolerance (you can add more or less heat/spice as you wish) or who are starting to explore Thai dishes.

This place is a California 5 F*CKING STARS. Flavors are intense, authentic, and out of this world. They have plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options, their portions are HEFTY and the service is top notch. Last time we visited we were served by Izzy, who is a hoot and a half and provided stellar service. Thanks for the awesome time Izzy! We'll be back to try your new cocktails soon. :)

There was plenty of seating! We sat at the bar, our server was great and attentive. They have restaurant favorites and drink specials posted on the signs. For drinks my friend got the Blueberry Lav French 75 and I got the Huckleberry Mule. Our drinks were great! I've also tried the Grid City Bubble Works canned drinks before and I'd highly recommend those as well! We ordered the Pork Potstickers, Marinated Cucumbers, and Dan Dan Noodles as was recommended by our server. The pork potstickers were super dense and the wrapper was tough, unlike most other potstickers I've had. The marinated cucumbers had a great texture, but were very salty. Our favorite were the Dan Dan Noodles. The sauce was flavorful and seasoned well. The only issue was how difficult it was to eat the huge pieces of bok choy. Overall, I'd definitely come back here for drinks and the dan dan noodles, but the other items did not live up to how I thought they'd be.

Five years later we are back and eating inside. We loved this place so much we made sure to put…read morethis on the itinerary for spring break. This tastes like mom's kitchen if mom had a high flamed gas stove. The dishes that benefited from that smoky hot wok flavor had it. I was so excited to eat I forgot to take pics of all the dishes at the table. Green beans with garlic was so tasty, I finished the leftovers the same night, I remembered to take a photo in the takeout container. The cauliflower (I don't know the actual name but it's stir fried, spicy and comes with peppers) had wok hei and I couldn't stop eating it. Beef rolls is the sophisticated auntie of the scallion pancake. Think of it like an asian burrito with thin sliced beef, fresh scallion and cilantro, and a touch of hoisin all hugged together with a crispy tasty scallion pancake. The shredded potato tastes like the best potato salad that isn't your picnic potato salad. The shredded potatoes were quickly blanched then stir fried preserving the crunch and crispness similar to al dente pasta. Seasoning was on point. The homiest flavor came from the stewed short rib. The rib pieces were braised in a soy and star anise sauce like what you find in Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The peels potatoes were cut rustically and just cooked through and not mushy. Authentic flavors and freshness like this is so so hard to come by. I can taste the quality of the ingredients used. One tip I have for selecting authentic food is by looking at the customers. If the customers are all Asian eating at an Asian restaurant, you know the food is going to be good. Service was 10/10, waitress was super polite and stopped by to chat with us about the food and SLC. I am from out of town but I grew up eating at NYC Asian restaurants and this is as good as if not better. If you happen to stop by the largest Costco in the world, make a pit stop here to refuel after all those steps.

I couldn't tell you what they put in it other than to tell you, it doesn't matter. Well I could tell you that it has green onion and char siu. The thing I order every single time is the beef roll. It is an onion pancake wrapped around beef, cilantro, and green onion with a delectable sauce. I can't stop tasting it. I feel like you can't go wrong with any of the noodle dishes. Be prepared for a culinary adventure, you won't be disappointed.
