Full disclosure: All of my experience with Thai Café is based on take out. I work near the restaurant so I frequently order lunch to-go. The restaurant is busy around lunchtime and the interior is spacious enough for the downtown crowd. It's always clean and the staff are authentic & friendly. My tried and true dishes are the Tom Yum soup, the spicy basil noodles and summer rolls (cold rice paper version of spring rolls except these are not fried) Let me start with the Tom Yum. Wow! The portion and flavor is awesome. I always get veggie and their version is loaded with a variety of vegetables. I also get this soup spice level 8 and it does not disappoint. It is also very reasonably priced! 10/10 The summer rolls are good not great, only because the sauce always tastes off. I like a basic peanut sauce and their version tastes like the soy sauce to peanut ratio is off. 8/10 The basil noodle dish gets a 7/10 on taste but 10/10 on portion and value! The 7 can be easily boosted by adding chili pepper sauce or Sriracha (it is never as spicy as I request) but the portion will last you at least 2 meals. Such an amazing lunch deal. Overall, it's not the best thai in Orlando but if you're looking for authentic Thai at great value with speedy & friendly service, look no further :) read more

My boyfriend and I order to-go lunch from here at least once a week if not more and are never disappointed in the menu selections. For $8.95 you get a good portion entree, ginger salad and two spring rolls for their daily lunch special. All of the curries are really tasty, chicken satay appetizer is delish, phuket pineapple fried rice, and give you a large portion of tilapia if you prefer a fish dish. The only dish I am so-so about is their Pad Thai - I am probably used to have it prepared in a different way - it's still good though. The staff is always very friendly and speedy - used to the lunch rush which is good. Would recommend this spot to others! read more

I must say I was thoroughly impressed - this place is a hidden gem with an insanely high value/cost ratio. The server was very kind and personable, and we were seated immediately. When each of us ordered, she took the time to ask and make sure we received our desired level of spiciness, from mild to Thai hot. Loving spicy foods, I ordered mine Thai hot and was not disappointed nor overwhelmed. Similarly, two of our group members ordered mild and were also happy. Once we tasted the Thai iced tea, we knew this place was going to be great. Each item we ordered was very well cooked/prepared. The Panang curry I had was super creamy with very tender beef. The white rice was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables still had a slight crisp to them (as in not overcooked). When we asked about the ginger dressing that came on the salad, which had astounding flavor, they said they make it fresh everyday and even sell pints of it upon request. For dessert we all shared mango sweet sticky rice, which actually came with a freshly sliced mango! We were all full but decided to be glutenous anyway; no regrets. One of the best parts about this restaurant is that they could easily get away with charging double the prices! I highly recommend visiting this place and am saddened that I can't become a regular since I'm not a resident of Orlando. read more

I come here at least twice a week and I have sampled their curries all very good, and especially like the Chicken Tom Yum. If you like it spicy make sure you say extra extra spicy, cause I think the first time they were afraid it would be too spicy...not a chance. They take a break between 3-6pm from lunch to dinner. If you love Thai food or if you are in the Downtown Orlando area and want to try something new, this place is a MUST. They are located on N. Magnolia Ave, in an area where there are a lot of law firms and small businesses so they do a lot of business during lunch hours. I went in the evening around 8 pm and it was very quiet and empty. The place was small, quite dim, romantic, but not fancy, and cozy all at the same time. The server was really nice and friendly. Any questions I asked, he was more than happy to answer. My boyfriend and I started off with the egg roll appetizer. It was delicious! It was brought to table really hot and came with a side of duck sauce. They were the perfect size to get your palette going before the big meal. The entree we ordered came with their house salad. Now, I'm really picky when it comes to my salads. I usually order a Caesar salad because I'm not big on different types of dressings...BUT this house dressing was amazing. The dressing was made with soy sauce, ginger, carrots, onions, celery, and some secret ingredients he wouldn't share. I finished my plate completely! For the entree, we shared a Pad Thai. The plates are pretty large and can easily be for two people. The Pad Thai had carrots and beans sprouts, and was tossed in a sweet tamarind sauce. On the side is a piece of lime and some crushed peanuts to sprinkle on top if you like. We chose chicken to go in it, but you have other choices such as shrimp, tofo, beef, or pork. Everything married so well. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the sauce was slightly sweet and not overpowering, the chicken was seasoned well, and the peanuts gave the dish a nice crunch to it. The prices were really good too. You'd think because its downtown that it would be expensive. The Pad Thai alone was 9.95 and it fed both of us. This is my go-to place for my Pad Thai fix when I'm at work (I work at the courthouse in downtown Orlando) and it's always great! The restaurant is a nice spot for lunch, and if you are a fan of Thai cuisine you are going to like what you find here. Get there early because it fills up, especially on Fridays. The food is acceptable but not great. The servers are acceptable but not great. Every time I've gone here, I'm left standing in the door way for 10 minutes until an employee finally bothers to tell me that there will be a wait. On two of the two occasions, there have been tables with dirty dishes that just need to be cleaned off, but, still, I wait an extra 10 minutes until it is cleaned. I really love this place. I eat here 2- 3 times a week. The best Thai food by far in downtown Orlando. Napasorn is way more expensive and doesn't compare flavor wise. The staff is ALWAYS friendly. Great food great prices - try to avoid rush hour. Thai Cafe is a fantastic place to get a tasty and affordable lunch. Their menu has a lot of variety and plenty of healthier options. Their portions are also large and I almost always can make two meals out of an order. However the reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the service is very hit or miss. Absolutely delicious Thai food. I'm really picky about my yellow curry and theirs is one of the best I've had. Pad Thai was also tasty. Ginger dressing on the salad was awesome and we really liked the cheese rolls appetizer (similar to cream cheese wontons at other places). Service was friendly. Obsessed with this place! Their Yum Chicken Salad (hot) is on point - and I've searched high and low for a great version of this classic dish all over Orlando. First visit ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken. It was not good. Chicken had an odd consistency and overall the food was pretty bland. Second visit was a disaster! We waited over 40 minutes for food during lunch. After waiting about 30 minutes, we asked our waitress to box up our lunches. She said our food was starting to come up now. We watched two other tables, both who came in after us, get served. 10 minutes later, half of us get our food and about 5 minutes after that the other half gets their food in boxes. I ordered a dude of Jasmine Rice, but was first brought noodles. Then regular white rice. When I questioned it, the waitress told me they don't have Jasmine Rice anymore. She could've told me when I ordered it? Instead of bringing me something else. We asked for our checks. That took another 10 minutes. Not impressed with food or service. Will not be back. Officially in love with this place. My boyfriend and I ordered delivery from there tonight and they were so friendly on the phone. The nice girl said about 35-40 minutes which was no problem for us. (typical delivery time so whatevs) They came within 20 minutes! We both got chicken Pad Thai which came with a cute side salad with amazing ginger dressing. (I also must of missed it in the description but i was okay with it. Such a nice surprise/lil something extra) All in all this place is fantastic. Actually I give it 4.5 stars, this was my go to Thai spot when I lived in Orlando. Cleanliness/Decor - one star, looks nice and neat, decor is stripped down cool divey feel Service - one star, family owned, super nice, crazy how they can provide great friendly service with just 3 or 4 workers total when its crowded during lunch. Put other big restaurants to shame in service efficiency. Food - one star, the fried rice is a stand out, not wet, great burnt (hence fried) flavor. Pad see ew and pad garlic are awesome too, pad thai is just ok tho Value - one star, and this mainly the reason i go here. Portions are great (comes with small salad), dinner is more expensive, but the portions are huge. Seriously, i got a dinner fried rice to go one time, the the to go box cracked because it was so much food lol Other factors - half star, i would def recommend without hesitation. Even tho it is located in downtown, street parking can be scarce, and as others mentioned, its less crowded (almost empty) at night because it is not located next to other bars/restaurants. So its hard to get people to go here for a weekend night out. Hopefully this district gets busier at night tho. And they used to have lunch/dinner specials that were great deals, but they got rid of that. read more

Had lunch here today because my favorite Lebanese restaurant in the area is no longer, replaced by a so called Korean joint with not much to offer. I had chicken with vegetables in peanut sauce. It came with a very nondescript salad. They could also afford to juice up the chop sticks, which were so rudimentary that I was worried about splinters. We ordered delivery from Thai Cafe. First time we have ever eaten their food. We ordered the fried rice and pad seew. The food arrives steaming hot and delicious. It came with side salads with tasty ginger dressing and the food we ordered had good seasoning and wasn't overly heavy. Best delivery we have had in a long time! Wow! We ordered for the first time and we both had the yellow curry and coconut soup! As soon as I took a bite I was immediately amazed by the play of flavor in my mouth! The food was so delicious I burned my tongue because I just couldn't wait to eat more! This place is a hidden gem! I hadn't eaten all day and decided to order some pad Thai and have it delivered to my office for a quick working dinner. Not only were they fast, the portions were huge and the food pretty good. Even better was the service. The delivery man brought it up to my floor, but made a mistake and gave me the wrong receipt to sign. The amount was for more than my meal. The restaurant actually called me back (twice, because I was on a conference call the first time) to tell me they'd overcharged me and to confirm the tip amount I wanted to leave. Ordered the Massaman Curry and Chicken Pad Thai. Both were very flavorful and the taste is exactly what I expected. The service was great and the food was delivered so fast! Thai is among my favorite foods in the World and I am still in shock as to how bad the Thai food is in Orlando or if the food is edible how ridiculously small the portions are. This place is the poster child that refutes the theory that you can't ruin thai food. The portions are tiny and the chicken is very tough (what little they give you of it) and I suspect at times old. I tried this place 3 times just to make sure I tried various things. The portion to go on the Panang Curry is basically the size of a cup of soup. Why can't someone bring viable Asian to downtown Orlando? The only Chinese is Empire Schezuan which is on par with the worst Chinese I've ever had. I've been in sales and traveled to two to three hundred cities and never seen a worse collective group of restaurants anywhere. This place could only be appealable to someone who has never been outside of a five mile radius of downtown Orlando. The food is shamefully bad and the owners and chefs should have more pride than to present this product. read more

The Tom Yum Seafood soup is quite delicious. It taste like the veggies came straight from the garden. What is interesting that the large is almost $9 and the small is $4. I went for the small. The large is served in a Jethro-sized bowl. The summer roll was interesting. I think since it was served cold, I was a little turned off by it. I will have to try it again.
