The half gallon shrimp fried rice was huge and cost 17.99. The tempura vegetable was only 5.99 the only thing is it loses the crispyness being in a covered container and had a funny aluminum taste, could just be me. I was very impressed with China Chef. The hot & sour soup was delicious and a nice mild balance between spice and tangy. It won't offend anyone or overpower you with spice. They must have fine tuned it for the elderly Floridians who don't want all of that heat on their spoons. I had the snowflake chicken off of the chef's specialties menu and was impressed with the flavor of the chicken and scallops. The vegetables were fresh (albeit canned water chestnuts) and crisp. It could've used a little bit more sauce. Adding soy sauce helped sauce it up though. I will definitely come back to see if they can make Singapore chow mei fun and Young Chow Fried Rice as nicely as what I am used to in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. Looked at the reviews and thought, let's give China Chef a try, price is reasonable and it is located less than 2 miles from my home. This was the worst experience I have ever had. I had a special order for pork fried rice (no eggs, no vegetables), it had bean sprouts and onions and looked like they almost overcooked it. My orange chicken was absolutely horrible. While they might not take many chances on their menu, the food is relatively decent and the people working here are very friendly and professional. China Chef Restaurant is located the strip mall on the corner of University Boulevard and Goldenrod Road. There is plenty of parking. If you are not sure where it is, look for the Publix Supermarket, which is in the same shopping plaza. I had the pork lo mein on my visit here and I have to say that I enjoyed my meal. I have always thought that lo mein is a good menu item to judge a Chinese restaurant and this one was definitely a good representation. A friend and I ate at China Chef today to try the recommended all you can eat bar. The food offerings were limited and the food was like warm. When I asked why the food was barely warm, I was told the heating element in the bar was broken. I always thought that food on a food bar had to be kept at a certain temperature. She did heat up our food in their microwave. Other Chinese restaurants seem to have this problem with the temperature on their food bars. I'm happy and glad I decided to give them a try because I will definitely be back and they are located only a few blocks away from my house. I'm from Tampa moving into Orlando with a friend who goes to school locally. ive been to Asian takeouts all throughout Florida but this spot takes the cake. my experience with the fried rice has been absolutely phenomena, I love the food as this spot is my GO-TO on those days I just want to not want to cook at home. the older lady who I see running this restaurant everyday is the sweetest and this business deserves so much recognition for providing great meals for great prices in these times. This place is the bomb. The chinese food is amazing! The tofu is the best here. And, wait for it.. they are open till 11pm. In addition, they don't mind late orders. I ordered a pick up at 10.47pm, not my proudest moment. I usually order shrimp fried rice with Mongolian beef, spring rolls, and tofu. I will add other dishes based on who I am eating with. Ordered pick up today and was totally scammed. Was Ab charged for everything even though I specifically asked if there was extra charge for any of this stuff and the lady on the phone said no. Almost $17 for a cheap Chinese takeout where they charged me extra for things they didn't even give. The food is so dry I feel like balling my eyes out eating this stuff. I'm not sure what's going on with this location, but there is definitely much better cheap Chinese restaurants in the area that will make your order specifically without a five dollar disgusting up charge for stupid things like eggs and peas that I asked if there was an up charge and there was a upcharge. I am always impressed with the food every time we eat china chef. They have a family meal that we usually get that comes with egg rolls, a gallon of house fried rice that includes large shrimp, 2 entrees like beef and broccoli and orange chicken and donuts. It is a HUGE amount of food for a very good value! It feeds our family and guests, usually about 6-8 people with plenty left over. We have also had their chicken lo mein and crab Rangoon. The best thing about it is the food is FRESH! I mean still steaming as in they freshly prepare everything at the time of your order. No leftover rice or lukewarm food. We highly recommend and will continue to consider this our number one choice for Chinese food read more

The sweet and sour sauce was not good at all, the chicken was kinda tough, the white rice was good with some salt and pepper. I feel like I paid for mostly bread and to top it all off, I got it delivered and the driver got kinda mad because I didn't have a cash tip! I love Chinese food and the majority of restaurants I have been to in the past have just been "ok." China Chef is far from ok as it has more than exceeding my expectations! It is a little pricey; however, considering when I order, I'm always ordering for myself and my husband, it's more than enough food to fill us completely and we always have leftovers for the next day. I cannot rave enough about the honey chicken. It has always been my favorite Chinese chicken dish and China Chef whips up the tastiest honey chicken I have ever put in my mouth. They also make the best lo mien I have ever tasted. Another favorite of mine which I must add to every order is the fried beef won tons. The fried rice and won ton soup are both good, nothing special, just your usual fried rice and won ton soup. While I have not tried it because I am not a huge fan of spicy foods, my husband reports to me their general tso's chicken is the best he has had. My husband also reports the egg rolls are good, but he has had better. The one grievance I have is the people who deliver for the restaurant. The restaurant charges a delivery fee and then when the good is delivered to my door, I always get a frown and a "look" from the delivery person for handing them only a few dollars. I've already paid a delivery fee to the restaurant; sorry, but I'm not going to hand over a gigantic tip on top of the fee I've already paid. It's like they expect a $10 tip for driving two blocks down the road. The attitude is annoying. So, to keep from having to deal with the delivery people, we simply drive the two blocks ourselves now and pick up our order. read more

I should start this review by saying I have a bit of a bias. China Chef's location is definitely convenient and the fact that they deliver, doubly so. All of that being said, they have some really delicious food if you go deeper than the usual friend rice, lo mein, and orange chicken. One of my favorite items on their menu is the Wor Shu Duck. The skin on the duck is crispy and soft. If you like the more traditional dishes, the Mongolian Beef (extra spicy) is fantastic and even better (spicy) when you reheat the leftovers the following day. The vegetarian selections on the menu are very good as well. The staff at China Chef are always friendly and accommodating. Stop by on Sundays for their great buffet spread. read more
