I was stuck in a very long USPS line and called a pick up order in for this place when it became clear I wasn't going to have much extra time for lunch. Ordering was painless and when I walked in 10 minutes later my food was ready and checking out was a breeze. The place is a decent size but the atmosphere isn't much to write home about. There were plenty of open tables for lunch. As for the food -I can't lie, I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken and it was actually really good. The curry had a really mild heat (maybe a bit too mild for me) but had that perfect sweetness at the end. It was a really nice portion size, too. I ate leftovers for two more lunches! The salad on the side was really great. It stayed fresh in the fridge for another day and the ginger dressing was sweet and sour without being cloying. I was honestly really impressed. My only gripe is that all the containers were very small so there wasn't really a good place to mix the curry with the rice. Next time I'll ask that the rice be packaged in one of the bigger take-out containers. The prices were super reasonable considering the amount of food I got. Got here feeling horrible (had nothing to do with their food) we went during the lunch rush... Biggest mistake ever. It was SO SO loud in there I could barely even hear my husband speaking to me, and it got so overwhelming we asked for our food to go. Already feeling bad all that noise didn't make it better. I don't have any complaints about the food, it was really good. My suggestion is take out if you're going during lunch. Will we be back? Maybe but not during lunch. Had food delivered to my hotel. When I first called and inquired about delivery the guy on the phone wanted me to tell him the proximity from my hotel to his restaurant. Not being from the area I advised I could not tell hom this information. He took my number and within 15 minutes he had another employee call me to verify if I was in the delivery zone . I Ordered the Chicken Satay and the Massuman Curry with Beef. Both were very good. The Entree came with a side salad and rice. The food was good and was delivered within the time they estimsted. Looked like a cute lunch place, but I did take out, and the owner told us they deliver too ... but when you live less than a block away, how lazy does that make you? If they say spicy, they mean it! This place was simply just okay, food wasn't bad but it wasn't the best. we came in around 8:30 and the server didn't say anything to us just stood far away from the table and stared at us until we said anything. Their Panang curry is okay but could use more flavor. I like their house salad with ginger dressing and the fact that they give it to you even when getting take out. Their rice sometimes tends to be overcooked and mushy. The green curry is too bland. I did not like the drunken noodles. read more

I've been looking for a good Thai restaurant in downtown Orlando and I've finally found it. The food is fantastic. The server, probably also the owner, recognized us on our second visit. On our third visit he knew what we had ordered the previous times and asked us if we wanted the same thing. It is hard to find establishments with this type of service. I just found this gem while exploring downtown Orlando. What a great surprise when the food came. Everything was wonderfully fresh with bright distinct authentic flavors. I have been to Thailand many times and this cooking equaled what I have eaten there. The portions are large and the prices were very reasonable for such high quality. This lovely, super clean restaurant is owned and run by a lovely Laotian/ Thai family. Mom cooks and the rest run the restaurant. Everyone is extremely friendly so it was a joy eating there. Went here for lunch while i had a fun filled day at jury duty. I was looking forward to this lunch as I assumed this would be the highlight of my day. I ordered the pho bo since the weather was a bit nippy for Orlando;) The service was a bit slow. There were not many people in the restaurant so I was surprised it took so long to get my order. The pho was a huge portion which was good. There was a good balance of meat as well. I asked for sriracha but did not get it until i was halfway done. When the bill came, they charged me the wrong amount. Glad i checked. They corrected it once I pointed it out. If I ever visit again, i will stick to the thai dishes. read more

My first experience at this restaurant was amazing! I dined in and was treated very nicely. The food was wonderful and I could not wait to come back again. My second experience was very displeasing, my order was wrong and the customer service was awful. The waiter seemed like he had good intentions but forgot to bring my drinks, rushed me and took a very long time to bring my check. The food also took quite a while to come out.I was on lunch break and it really cut into my time. The third time I came to the restaurant, I decided to order ahead and pick up. I patiently waited in line to pay and pick up my food and as I was waiting another patron came into the restaurant and the cashier helped her even though I was next in line. I was completely ignored and made up my mind at that point that I would never visit this place again. This place clearly needs more employees. The current employees look stressed out and can't handle the amount of orders they are receiving. It's a shame I will not be back. The food is good but not worth the chaos and terrible customer service. Also be sure to double check how much you are charged. They charged me dinner prices during lunch. I'm an out of towner, but I have a strict palate for Thai food. My experience at Thai Café was top notch. The atmosphere is quaint; it certainly felt like a family place. I ordered the basil fried rice and the panang with fish. The rice was perfectly cooked and the panang was spicy. The fish was crisp and the vegetables were fresh. This was one the of worst Thai places we have ordered from in Orlando. My boyfriend ordered the Pad Thai and the Thai Lo Mein which arrived very dry and had an indistinguishable taste. Imagine getting your food cold and then it has a funky taste along with a chewiness that should not be there. That's what it was like. I called the restaurant and asked for a refund and the only response in return was, "Don't worry we have been doing this for 30 years and we know what we are doing", therefore I will not be getting a refund. Thai Cafe is a great spot kind of hidden in downtown Orlando. (It is located on Magnolia) As a local in Orlando, this is exactly the type of place I am looking for. Good quality food and fast service. We typically order to go and it takes no longer than 15 minutes. Every single time, it does not disappoint. The entrees come with a side ginger salad and the pricing does not break the bank. A tiny hidden gem. Unassuming, quite, clean and great, mostly authentic Thai food. Humble, efficient service, and reasonably priced. The soups in particular are fantastic. Ask them to make your dishes spicy, and they'll oblige and make it pretty similar to what you'd get in a small eatery in Bangkok. This will be a short one until I go back to update. I went in on a whim to grab some take-out today. The place itself is small and there's no hostess stand so unless someone sees you, you're not quite sure where to go to place your order. Fortunately a lady saw me and I went towards the kitchen to place my order. I the till is at the entrance to the kitchen which seems odd and it was weird to be able to see into the kitchen so easily. While I didn't see anything that worried me, it did seem cluttered back there. So I place my order and my food was ready very quickly, which was great. For being a lunch special, it cost a few more bucks than other Thai places I've been to, but it wasn't bad. When I got home I started eating my tofu massaman curry and the flavor was awesome! The only problem for me is I have severe allergies to dairy and nuts (except peanuts, since they are technically a legume). I've never experienced a curry made with anything but coconut milk, but this one must have had either cow's milk or nuts other than peanuts (which is not what's in a traditional massaman dish), because I had a bad reaction within two quick bites. So while yes I kinda almost died, the taste and efficiency of the place was on point! I just wish they'd stick to how massaman is made at every other Thai place. The only other reasoning I could think of for the reaction was cross-contamination, which wouldn't surprise me considering the untidiness of the kitchen. Still, I will go back to try another dish- only I'll for sure ask about ingredients next time! (The only reason I didn't was because I assumed all Thai places followed the same general recipe, oops!) read more

This place is extremely close to the Courthouse downtown so I know a lot of the local employees frequent this place. I've been twice in the last three years and I'm sad to say that the phone is okay. I was neither upset about my pad thai nor thrilled. With most entrees, a peanut salad is included. Honestly, the salad is amazing! When I eventually give this place another try, I'll probably just get a large salad -- or several side salads if they don't have a larger size. If you are coming here on your lunch hour, I highly recommend that you call ahead and place your order at least 20 to 30 minutes in advance because you will absolutely be waiting. Not only did I wait a while for my food, which I don't mind AT ALL, a single-filed line can easily form through the restaurant to pay at the cash register. Great for a healthier take out place. I've heard good things about Thai Cafe from two separate friends so I decided to check it out. Based on the menu pictures, it looked like dishes were $9 a piece but be warned prices increase for dinner. I ordered delivery and the food came fairly quickly approx 30min. The duck curry was delicious and the portion was large. It also came with a small salad. My girlfriend got a fish dish whose name I can't remember but per her it was good. The total price for the fish and duck dish was $31 after tax. My guess is that the dishes were $13-15, which is significantly more than the $9 cited on the menu. That's a pretty large uptick just for dinner, but the food was good and the delivery was fast, so I'll still come back. read more

This is my go to place for Thai downtown. I always get the same few things - yellow chicken/beef curry, pad Thai or the chicken house salad with peanut dressing. You can't go wrong with any of those! Wow, was this food delivered fast. It was so hot (temperature) when I opened it up. It was almost like the food was prepared in the car it was so hot. So kudos for that. And yes, the flavor was on point. Nice size shrimp and plenty of them. When in Orlando, I will be ordering from them again.
