Visited here twice in the last few months with friends. Initially went because of the restaurant being well-known to be knowledgeable of special dietary needs. The first visit was good and the waiter was quite attentive and knowledgeable about gluten-free and also my concerns about high histamine foods, for example fish sauce being problematic. Returned a second time and it was a disaster. After repeatedly mentioning that I could not tolerate any sauces with fish sauce, I was brought a dish that tasted distinctly fishy. Asked three more times what was in it that tasted like fish? Denied repeatedly there being any fish by staff. Finally I was told that the sauce contained oyster sauce! Duh. I would have been sick for a day or two had I eaten this. The portion was huge, but the pad thai was not pad thai. It was a pile of noodles with a little bit of cilantro on top. Missing was scrambled egg, chicken, sprouts or any other components of pad Thai. Unfortunately, as much as I prefer to support local restaurants, I will not be returning. read more

I have been coming here regularly for the past 2 years. Everything I have ever ordered has been nothing short of impeccable. Phil, the owner, is incredibly personable and really takes the time to know his clientele. Nothing leaves the kitchen with Phil's approval and it truly sets the food apart. A lot of people in the area love Thai Café. We also hoped to love it, but our first (and only) experience was via a take-out entrée that was a disaster. We ordered 38. COCONUT PRINCESS. By the time I got home with the order, some of it had melted through the plastic container and what was left had a gooey plastic sludge floating on top and a strong plastic smell. We were starving and didn't actually notice until we took a couple bites. ;-0 It had an extremely sweet taste with a hint of plastic. I tried to call, but no luck. I sent a letter but no reply. I cannot say whether or not their food is good or not when freshly served on a plate; however, I would not recommend any hot take-out that is stored/transported in plastic (or styrofoam) unless you are immune to the harmful effects of plastic in your bloodstream and like the strange taste. Sorry, I wish I could have written a positive review. ;-( read more

I've been coming here for years even though it's a long, long drive from where we live. Food and service have been good. Lately, though the food quality has really dived. Pad thai, noodles with siracha sauce, no egg, no fish sauce, no green onion, no cabbage or bean sprouts, wow, did someone else purchase this place? They don't seem to be using the same recipe, this is not anything close to pad thai and forget about the chicken, you needed a magnifier to find any. This pad thai was terrible!!! Then yellow curry chicken, thin, thin, thin sauce, like water consistency, hardly any chicken or vegies, just thin sauce and like little or no rice given, like rice costs alot. I guess I need to stop coming here especially since its really too far to travel to. read more

But when I order Pad Thai and ask for it mild, then I am asked "on a scale between 1&5 how spicy would up you like it" and I repeat MILD so I guess a 1 and I get home so excited to eat BUT my PadThai burns my lips ...now my whole meal is ruined. But we can honestly say that the Thai Cafe in PV is as good, or even better, than any of the Thai restaurants we have visited in CA. Fresh ingredients, robust flavor and very reasonable prices.
