Thai Cafe is located in Heritage Pointe Shoppes. There was plenty of free parking when I visited. The restaurant takes reservations for dine-in service, but you can also order takeout. The restaurant is larger than I expected from the outside and has booths against the wall, tables in the center and a bar area. There were some tables outside, near the entrance, for those who want to dine outside on a warmer day. The restaurant was slow when we arrived, but filled up during our time there. But it remained quiet, so it was still easy to talk without hearing other conversations. I had looked over the menu before dining here, as I sometimes have trouble deciding what to order. But when I arrived, the menu was huge. I could order from the lunch, dinner, or sushi menu. There were just so many options. I ended up going with the pineapple fried rice with shrimp. When it came out, it was in half a pineapple. I just loved it, and it made it fun to eat. The three shrimp on it were large as well. The portion was large, so I had to bring some of the fried rice and cashews home for another meal. Service was friendly and patient as we made up our minds. What a disappointment, curious but found out new management. Been going for a year and always ordered the crab fried rice. This time it seems new management decided to cut back on the crab. Less than a quarter teaspoon. Actually less than that but I am trying to make it better. We also had the crispy fried tofu which was burnt to a crisp so much that it was pretty much nothing. Will not ho back and spend $22 for a plate of rice and egg nor any other foods from this establishment. Management, do better. You are slowly drowning your business. read more

I ordered shrimp fried rice, chicken satay, and spicy coconut soup with chicken. I asked for mild spice. Everything was bland tasting and the shrimp fried rice had 5 shrimp in it. Total ripoff. Service great! Ambiance nice! Food needs a better chef/cook! Ordered to go the Pad Thai noodles with shrimp and Pineapple Fried Rice with shrimp. The noodles were so dry and tasteless as well as the shrimp; maybe if had eaten in it would not be so dry, but the taste is a different thing. The fried rice was ok, had very large hard pineapple pieces and the shrimp were super huge and also tasteless. New management in the last few months so some changes. One thing that is no longer sold is their chocolate cake.. they still have the coconut cake but I definitely miss the chocolate cake. First time here and it was a stellar experience. Do know that this is not just a Thai restaurant. They have a ton of sushi as well. That being said, we both tried their Thai dishes. Pad Thai for Husband and Drunken Noodles for me. I don't usually do alcohol with Thai restaurants because the offerings don't necessarily go with the dishes imho, but let me tell you...the Lemon Lotus drink here (basically a lemon drop), is fantastic and goes very well with Drunken Noodles that are just slightly spicy. Service was terrific. Food terrific. Husband loved his pad thai and very much loved his coconut cake as well. Much improved service on this return trip. Food is still as high quality as ever. Restaurant was moderately busy on this Thursday night. There is a robust take-out business so even though the dining room had empty tables, the kitchen was busy with a steady flow of pickups. Service on this visit was great. We were seated quickly, orders taken, food served in short order. Thanks, Cherry, for orchestrating the meal. Chicken Pad Thai is prepared here as it should be. A right-sized portion of noodles, a little spice to tingle the taste buds but not make your eyes water. Peanut-based sauce the right amount of sweet to accentuate but not take over the meal. Toss in some wok-fried chicken. 'Twas good. Pad See Ew is another favorite, done right at Thai Cafe. Wide noodles are sauteed with chicken, broccoli, egg in a creamy Thai-soy sauce. No spice to this one at all. Reminds me of an Asian take on chicken alfredo. Very delicious. Located in same shopping center as Shuckers, it is larger than looks from the outside. They have indoor and a few outside tables. We popped in during lunchtime and service was a bit slow but our server did an ok job. The salad with ginger dressing was un memorable as the dressing was a bit on the bland side. The crab angels were ok but didn't think they used any crab at all as it tasted like creamy cheese only. I opted for pad Thai shrimp and it was good, however only 4 shrimp were added to dish. Came here for a quick lunch on a rainy and cold day. I love Thai food so I set my intentions to find some in the area. I opted for the soup because it was the perfect day for it. I love Thai Cafe, the food is always so good and you can never go wrong with whatever you choose. The second time I visited here, I had an issue with an online order which had me a bit upset. However, the third visit was outstanding and I don't believe the second time truly reflected this business (considering the first time was also outstanding). The employees are also so nice. This place is convenient for us to dine. The food is decent and fresh. Thai Basil beef was very flavorful but the beef was a bit chewy. The drunken noodle with shrimp and very delicious. Online ordering (there may be a glitch) I placed my order at maybe 215-218pm after checking out the site reflected to pickup at 320pm. 1)it's an hr later 2) they would be closed. Luckily I was ordering from the car in the parking lot bc I didn't want to have to go in and sit and wait but ended up having to go in anyways. Secondly, I clearly asked for the removal of some ingredients... still came with red onions and meatballs added to the order. It took some time to get the food out so I trusted they did their part and headed out with the bag in hand just to get home and they added exactly what I asked them not to and now they're closed. This place continues to have some of the best Thai food in the area. The issue is they seem to always have issues with staffing and service when dining in. We have called in take out orders several times and the food is never ready when we arrive. We have also dined in several times now and the service is repeatedly very slow. We have not had one dine in experience where the server was timely or attentive. We repeatedly have no idea where the server is or if they are even coming back. It takes awhile to be greeted at the table, forever to get your drinks, forever for the food to arrive. The food is great, just be prepared for the slowest service around. Pretty good food and mostly good pricing. There were 12 of us that came for a Saturday lunch and we were seated right away. Service was a bit slow surprisingly, even though there were many tables empty. The lunch prices were good --- though portions were a bit small, even for lunch portions. The fried catfish and the spicy beef salad dishes were really great. We were surprised with the high cost ($19!) of the crab fried rice (especially since it was a whiteboard special). Everything was very hot upon delivery. We ordered chicken fried rice, chicken pad Thai, shrimp pad Thai, spicy cashew shrimp, drunken noodles, spring rolls, and crab angels. Crab Rangoon's great! Down hill from there. Service was terrible and when we got our order one was wrong. Took a while to get it corrected and after almost 10 min told may be a little up charge no problem. Dropped it off and never seen waiter for 25 min and food tasted boiled and no flavor. Don't even mention if you want refills bring your own we could not even get that. They were not busy at all and if they checked on us at all the experience may of been better. Done at your own risk. 7pm on a sat night not busy should of been our first sign. We have been here several times in the past and it has aways been very good. It has been a while since our last visit and things have gone downhill a lot. We went there on a Saturday night around 8 PM (closing time is 10). We were one of three tables and there were two servers. Yet somehow the service was very indifferent. (In all fairness the other server seemed very good and he ended up helping us more than ours). No silverware or napkins on the table, also not all that clean. We waited at least 15 mins before the server came to take our order. Our sushi rolls we ordered as apps came quickly but not our drinks. Maybe 10 mins later we got the attention of the OTHER server (ours seemed to be on break) and he brought us napkins and drinks. My fiance said she saw ours in the kitchen flirting with some girl. I was hopeful that the food would be better than the service but it was not. I eat Thai food very often, and asked for the yellow curry at "hot" spice level. It was very bland and no spice at all, maybe 2/10. Also not cooked well, the large chunks of carrot were barely cooked. My "spicy tuna" roll was not spicy at all. All in all, very disappointing. It was very frustrating to be one of three groups in the restaurant and to be essentially ignored. I still tipped 12% on a $50 bill which IMO was far more than our server deserved, I usually do 20%. I have been coming here for years and it's my favorite place for thai food, outstanding food however, consider take out only. They have had continuous issues with service, they seem to be constantly under staffed and for the longest time not addressing this. The Crab Angels are the best crab rangoons I've ever had, hands down - and I have eaten at several thai and sushi places in Charlotte! Everything was also fresh and ready to go when I ordered late on a Sunday night which I appreciate. The Tokyo Double sushi roll was also incredibly delicious, again of the best I've had.
