We drove 20+ minutes to get Thai and walked in to a totally empty restaurant. Eventually they noticed us and asked if we were picking up "to go" order. I said no, we wanted to eat here and asked if we can sit down. She asked if we needed a menu. Yes we have never been here. She asked my phone number which I thought was weird. I gave her my phone number. After reviewing the menu my husband and I ordered. She asked us to pay before we got our food. Weird ‍ We asked for water and it came in a plastic cup with a lid. Then our food came packaged to go. Someone else walked in and wanted to dine in too. I'm sure he will be shocked when they give him his order in a bag as well. We brought the food home which was not the plan. Food was decent but overpriced in my opinion. I tipped in advance and tipped too high based on service and experience. The ambiance is very lacking and there is no indication on the door that this is a TAKEOUT restaurant. Maybe most know this but when we walked in we told them this was our first time. We dined in. Order curries and pad see ewe along with satay. Our daughter likes the satay with the peanut and sweet pickle. They like it saucy. Decent curries but I felt it was a bit watered down. Does not pack a punch like ones in Thailand. This taste like the nam ploy curry with fish sauce and coconut milk. Pad see ewe: Too sweet. The balance of fish sauce and sweet soy sauce is way off. The noodles used are the dried rice noodles and not the fresh thick cut rice noodles. Thumbs down on this. Asians we eat rice and any extra bowl of rice is $3.50 (outrageous). Any extra sauce is $1 for the satay. This is nickel and dime does not sit well. I am surprised they did not charge for water. It is getting expensive eating Thai food in Raleigh area. I enjoyed dinner at Bangkok. While in the area with my daughter we decided to stop in for the dinner for 2 Special. I enjoyed the Tom Ka Gai soup, Thai Dumplings and Massaman Curry. The food is delicious. But the service is awful. Came to this restaurant, got greeted immediately (apparently there is a noise once the door opens), so you're greeted & seated immediately. Then they come out & take your order, then bring your food, and that's it. No one comes out of the kitchen until the door opens again. I had to go to the kitchen opening to ask for additional hot flakes & water. Then went back to ask for the check. Additionally, when I went to the kitchen opening the first time the server was texting on her phone by the register, the 2nd time they were just standing with the other works talking, I would understand if they were doing food prep or something but they weren't . I'm bummed, used to like this place. They are not very attentive to their guest. I took the video when I was waiting for someone to come out of the kitchen... no one did! Had to pop my head out at the kitchen opening & get their attention. Adding to my review, I also ordered food to go, & got it in a styrofoam container. There was no foil lining.... Uugh! . How backwards is this? Use paper togo containers or line the styrofoam with foil.... Just showing a picture of the melted styrofoam after I threw out the Pad Thai. Long time ago, I never had this.... Excellent dishes we had ! Spicy Bangkok spaghetti was very good with pork. Just the right amount of heat. Also had soup Tom Yum Soup. Spicy lemongrass soup, chili and lime broth with choice of meat .Wife had the red curry chicken with jasmine rice some of best she's had. If you like thai food this is a really good spot close to wake forest, my favorite thing to get is the duck fried rice but i think they changed the name since i first tried it. They have good currys, soups, and a variety of other dishes. They also have really good thai tea. I love sitting inside this place and drawing, its small but has a good vibe to it. All the servers in there are nice I usually go later on days i know it wouldn't be busy so the service time is good as well. 10/10 read more

This is more of a 3.5 star rating. We opted for the $39.99 for two special. The Thai dumplings were ok, the sauce it came with had dried spices in it that were still hard that threw me off texture wise. Tom Ka Gai soups we both had were ok too. The Panang curry and pad Thai were pretty good. My curry had a nice amount of spice and richness to it and my husband enjoyed his dish. Service was good. Smaller restaurant in a plaza. Updated to lower my rating after a year of declining quality and tonight's latest disappointment. Some food here is still good, but there is an exception I find particularly strange and damning at a Thai restaurant-- their mediocre-at-best pad Thai which used to be passable, but has gotten so bland it's bad. I originally said-- Texture is pretty good (I've had soggy, mushy pad Thai elsewhere and that is not the case here) but it is not as complex and flavorful as some (most) other places I've been in the area. The dish's claim to fame is that it balances all the flavors: sour, sweet, bitter, salty and umami, but here the pad thai is simple and just okay. Now I need to update my review to note it is downright bland. It's been getting worse for at least a year. The shrimp or seafood versions have a bit better flavor and more of it than the chicken, but the seafood is consistently overcooked to the texture of shoe leather. It's a waste of calories. Their tom ka gai and side salad are still pretty good , and they have the best summer rolls in the area. The rolls have plenty of crisp lettuce (though the amount of mint has been skimpy lately). Their peanut sauce is usually tangy and delicious. I'm finally going to give up on their dinner for two for $40-- which would be a pretty good deal if the entrees were tasty-- and just get the fresh spring rolls occasionally so I'll stop being so disappointed. read more

I've never had a bad meal here over many years of dining at this place. Not so happy about the higher cost but with the high rate of inflation, it should be expected that these prices have doubled. FJB. My favorite foods here are both the green or red curry chicken with white rice (Both are very good) and their Drunken Noodles with beef. The Thom Kha Gai is delicious but I've had better (in Berkeley, CA at Cha-Am and my homemade). I don;t think you can go wrong with any items on the menu. I absolutely love Bangkok Thai. I live within walking distance, and order takeout at least once a month, it used to be more often, but I'm trying to cut back on rice. I literally order the same thing every time. Simple Fried Rice w/ either Chicken or Shrimp and crispy veggie rolls. Once in awhile I'll order the calamari or the Tom Yum Soup. I absolutely love every single bite. The portions are very generous. The staff is quiet, but very friendly. I've eaten inside a couple of times. It's small and cozy, about 8-10 tables. We really liked the Pad Thai and the Thai basil chicken (great level of spiciness!) and the Thai ice tea was delicious as was the Thai coffee. I ordered through DoorDash the yellow curry with veggies, chicken, red peppers, broccoli and potatoes. It was INCREDIBLE! Exactly what I wanted my curry to taste like. I was a little worried at first because it did look watery but as soon as I mixed it with the rice it was fine. I also got the side salad, which was really good too. I loved the ginger dressing. The food is hit or miss. Last time I went, I got the papaya salad and ask for level 2 spice. It wasn't spicy at all, so I asked if I could have some fresh chilis. They brought hot pepper flakes which was so weird. Also, there wasn't enough of the lime dressing on the salad for me to even finish it so I asked if I could have a little more dressing. They said no. There were two servers and one was really nice but the other was not nice at all. The place is small so there's not a lot of room which is OK if it's not really busy. Heads up for super lunch specials here! Two of us had a Saturday lunch "set" for just eight bucks each and that included a drink, appetizer and entree. I had unsweetened iced tea (nice), salad with peanut dressing (fresh & delicious, a little heavy on the dressing), and Chicken Thai Spicy Basil (not spicy but very good). Husband had the Vegetable Spring Roll and Chicken Pad Thai, along with a Diet Coke and he was happy with it all, especially the steady drink refills. Atmosphere is inviting and comfortable.
