I was surprised at the mixed reviews, but I think that they probably sum it up. Atmosphere: Super cute, tucked away next door to the Circle K. I went there to pick up a carry-out on a random Wednesday night at 7P and it was really bustling. Everyone looked happy. I parked in the Circle K parking lot because I was running in for carry out - parking around there looked a little dicey to me. Takeout: They told me on the phone that it would be 35-40 minutes. I got there in 20 and everything was ready. Checkout was fast and efficient and the counter person was cheerful and accommodating (ie, made sure that I had enough silverware and etc....) Food: The salad rolls were just meh. I think that my personal truth is that I prefer the rolls that have the rice noodles and basil in them....these had mint and deep fried tofu. They also had plenty of other greens though. I got Tom Yum with chicken, which I almost always get from restaurants like this. This broth was very different than what I am used to - it was brown and more opaque, but not with the beautiful sweet sour salty etc. flavor profile that I am used to. It was just ok to be honest. Good portion size and plenty of meat and vege though. I also got the pao tak soup. This was the beautiful balance of flavors that I expected, plenty of seafood, overall happy with it. If I went here again, I would try the curry since it has good reviews. read more

This place is pretty good. I love their crab rangoons. The tofu pad see ew I had was mediocre; the noodles were great but the fried tofu was really dry. However, their fried rice is good and my boyfriend has enjoyed everything he's eaten here. I don't go to this place much because I prefer Tarntip (which is just up the street) for my Thai fix, but these restaurants trade off days on the weekends to be closed conveniently enough, so I go to whichever one is open when the other is closed. Oh, and this place takes card whereas Tarntip does not, so that's an extra point for convenience at least. read more

I have eaten at dozens of Thai restaurants in the U.S. and abroad. This was by far the worst Thai food I've ever had. We ordered Jungle Curry which wasn't curry but instead we were served a watery bowl of broth that was spicy but not flavorful. It was not a curry but a soup that didn't have Thai flavors. I have come here many times over the last few years that I have lived in Corvallis. They are the only Thai Place in town open late, which makes up for the mediocre Pad Thai, so I have been semi-regular. I called in last night at about 8:00 (an hour before close), and ordered a Tofu Pad Thai and a Chicken Pad Thai take-out, with two thai bubble teas. I drove across town, and walked in to find the employees standing at the counter bad mouthing a customer who had come in earlier and did not have "enough money". This was very disappointing. Regardless, I picked up my food and I headed home. When I got home, I realized my order was incorrect, and I was given two orders of Chicken Pad Thai, which won't work for me, a vegetarian. I called back and requested they re make my order. The employee was hesitant about making me new food and said I should just come in the next day to get a replacement (?), which I said would not work as I needed to eat. I drove back across town to get my replacement, which did have Tofu in it. I arrived home, excited to dig in, only to find that my food was SO spicy that it was inedible. after two bites I drank 3 large glasses of milk and several glasses of water and my mouth still hurt. Due to the fact that I ordered "mild" spice, and also the fact that I have never in my life experienced food so spicy, i can't help but think this was done intentionally and is totally unacceptable. Maybe if employees were doing their jobs instead of badmouthing customers they would have gotten my order right and this all could have been avoided. read more

Thai Chili is probably my favorite restaurant in Corvallis and definitely my favorite near OSU campus. It is conveniently located in Cobblestone Square. Everything I've tried is delicious and most dishes cost about $7. I usually get the pho (which you'd normally expect at a Vietnamese restaurant, not a Thai place) because it's so good. All of the curry dishes are excellent; I probably get the Massaman (brown) curry most. They recently (finally) added yellow curry to their menu as well. The Thai spicy basil is great and their various noodle dishes, especially pad si-iew (big flat rice noodles), have not disappointed me. It seems like a can't-miss, reasonably priced menu. I've been eating here at least a couple of times a month since last summer. I recommend this place to pretty much everyone I meet, including Rebecca B. (see her review below). I prefer Thai Chili to Tarn Tip (a nearby Thai restaurant), in terms of flavor and customer service. As far as Thai Chili's spiciness meter from 1-5, choosing a 2 or 3 is a nice level for someone accustomed to Asian cuisine (basically, if you don't feel like sweating or having your nose run too much). I found it amusing that their spiciness meter used to be six levels: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate and Ph.D., since it's located in a university town, I guess. Getting the Ph.D.-level spiciness was a bad move, unless you felt like crying/dying (or are one of those people who have burned out your taste buds). My friend and I were looking for a place to have dinner. Our first 3 choices were closed and we walked by a million other restaurants before we settled here. They sat us at this awkward table and I wanted to move to a booth since one became free after we were seated. I didn't want to bother asking though but the waiter ended up offering! We moved into the far comfier booths and we ordered the much advertised coconut shrimp, yellow shrimp curry, and some other type of meat curry. Rice comes with your order even though it isn't stated on the menu. The rice to curry ratio is awful but my friend asked for extra rice and wasn't charged. It might be because our waiter completely forgot to bring it though and decided to comp it. Service is EXTREMELY nice but they were really forgetful. I guess its a good trade off. We got mango sticky rice for dessert. The mango was huge and I was disappointed by the amount of sticky rice but in the end I could barely finish it. Haha. I think I prefer Tarntip more though since they have really unique dishes. read more

Cara and I LOVE Thai food. We actually went to Cobblestone Square to eat at Southeast, but apparently we were way behind the times, since Thai Chili has been open since May09. Anyway, we were very pleasantly surprised. Great menu. They managed to improve upon Southeast significantly, IMO.(And we loved Southeast) The lighting seems better, the place cleaner, and the wait staff more attentive and quick to respond. I had the house curry and had them add vegetables. I ordered 2 stars out of 5, but probably could have handled 3. Great flavor, curry was so good I drank the last bit from the bottom of my to-go container. My only complaint- I only like fried tofu, and they served steamed tofu in the dish. Really not a fan of that, but it could have been a simple misake- they must have heard me wrong. Everything else was perfect. $16 bucks for Cara and I to eat til we were full. Great value. read more

A cozy little eatery across the street from OSU. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful. After our spring rolls arrived without any dipping sauce, I got up to retrieve small plates for my husband and I, as well as to locate something wet to dip the rolls in, spicy, sweet, salty, it's all good. I don't mind a little self-serve every now and then. Our main courses followed shortly. When we do any sort of Asian cuisine, we always share, but we're not from around here. I noticed, not only at Thai Chili, but at other Asian restaurants, people don't seem to do family style eating here. I'm not sure about you, but I don't just want a big bowl of mono-flavor for my meal. We had decided on the red coconut curry with chicken and the pad see-ew. I'm not sure if I spelled the see-ew correctly just now. It's a dish with big, flat noodles, some veggies and your choice of protein. The noodles were overcooked and the flavor was bland, but it seemed to hit the spot as we'd had a few beers beforehand and were hungry. Thai red curry should be complex, rich and flavorful. This one was watered down and tasted more like a simple coconut soup with bamboo, carrots and chicken breast slices. I noticed an absence of kaffir lime leaves. Perhaps ingredients for thai cooking are hard to come by in Corvallis. Perhaps they water down the flavor, fearing locals won't care for more traditional Thai flavors. We are new to the area, very new, so we're making the rounds to see which ones will be our regular go-to's. Thai Chili will not be on the list. read more

My go to place for Thai food in Corvo. Great quality pad Thai for a really good price because the portion is pretty big. Their red curry is also really good with rice. I also love the fact that they actually make their food spicy, like a "junior" level is spicer than what I normally eat and I love spicy food. So if you're not into spicy, just say "freshman" level or no spice. But if you love spicy then definitely a junior! The only complain I would have is their 40 minute wait for food so if you're really hungry during dinner time and want this, probably won't do you good cause you'll have to wait almost an hr, or call in and order to go ahead of time because that's normally faster than dining in. read more

Had dinner here tonight. Me and my wife ordered 1 Satay chicken, and 1 Yokabisu noodle. Both were absolutely amazing. Spices have a mixture and they taste incredible. I think the chief here has been cooking his/her whole life. The place is not a fancy schmancy restaurant, it is clean and has average decor. The people here are very nice and they get you whatever you want just by looking at them. Prices are mid- to high. 1 chicken dish, noodles, a bowl soup costed around 28$. This was essentially my favorite restaurant in all of Corvallis while I was in college. I LOVED the food here. The Pad Thai and Pad Woon Sen were my favorites. My mother in law always loved the various curries. It all has amazing flavor, the vegetables are cooked well, and the noodles were never too greasy. The staff are college students usually, so sometimes the service wasn't "amazing", but it was also never "bad". The food was consistent which was what I cared about! They also offer indoor and outdoor seating depending on the season. They tend to be very busy on Friday nights especially. read more

Not all of the menu items hit the mark. I have tried some of their fish items, pad see-ew, fried rice options and their spring rolls which were good but not great. The fish was dry and flavored weirdly, the padseeew was also dry and not flavorful. Overall a lot of times their food is too dry and don't have enough flavor. The one thing I do come back for is their pad thai. Their pad thai is pretty great but sometimes they mess it up and don't flavor it right and it makes me sick. On a side note: this place is not vegetarian friendly and their staff doesn't even seem to know what their food contains so don't even bother trying to ask. read more

They even stepped it up recently by using thicker noodles. It is saucy, thick, and delicious. The roasted duck egg noodle dry is a banger as well. I got the Beef Pad Thai, and a Thai Iced Tea from Thai Chili, and after seeing all the great reviews I was disappointed. The Thai iced tea tasted very watered down compared to the Thai iced teas I'm used to drinking. The pad Thai noodles were very good, but the flavors weren't the all there. I ordered a level 3 on the spicy scale and it wasn't spicy at all, the overall taste was pretty sweet. The beef with the pad Thai was very over cooked and was tough and lacking flavor. I'll keep this simple-- The food was pretty good, but when they ask you for how spicy you want it, don't go higher than "freshman" if you can't really handle too much spice. I had "sophomore" and eyes were watering and my nose was runny. I can usually take a decent amount of spice, but that was a lot. I had the chicken curry and it was pretty good. I didn't realize it'd be so soupy, but that's because I've only ever had Chinese curry before then. They didn't come out with my rice until after I was done eating, but I think they were having a busy day. I also had a mango bubble tea and that was WONDERFUL. I'd highly recommend it. Also, the payment method is pretty sweet. If you pay with a card they swipe it on a iPad, it generates an automatic tip for you with various percentages to choose from (if you want to give one for good service--I did), and then you just sign with your finger.
