This spot was my choice for lunch, and I wanted to give it a try because I've heard great things about this place. I ordered the basil chicken and beef rice, chicken wings, and veggie rolls. The veggie rolls come with 3 standard-sized rolls. They were tasty and crisp. The chicken wings were the fat wings, crispy, and had an interesting but good breading on them. The chicken comes with about 5 wings. Again, although the breading was good, I didn't like the wings as a whole because they were too chunky for my preference. The rice was just okay to me. It had flavor. However, the flavor to me was a bit different, and I didn't prefer the taste. I could also tell that it didn't taste too fresh, which could have made a difference as well. I ate what I could because I was hungry at the time, but once I phased out of the deep pit of hunger, I was good on the rice and the wings. They give you a good portion size. The flavor is there; it's just not for me, and although hot, I wish the rice were fresher. read more

I decided to order on a Friday evening because I was craving basil chicken. My order arrived quickly, which I appreciated. The chicken was finely ground, and the basil flavor and spice level were perfect. I also like that you could choose a spice level. The chicken itself tasted ok. I'm not completely sure if it was fresh, but very flavorful. I liked that they included a cucumber to help with the spice level, and of course the white rice is always a great addition. read more

Our ROMEO group of 8 were here for the first time today at lunch. Arrived at 11:25 and there were two customers in the front room. We took a table for 8 on the left side room. The first thing I noticed was the floor must've just been cleaned as some of it looked a bit wet and. had a sort of cleaning smell to the room, which passed shortly after we arrived. They had just opened at 10:30. A waiter came by and took our drink orders (mostly Thai Tea and a couple of waters). The tea was good...first time for many of us, very sweet with a bit of a coconut taste it seemed. None of us were sure of what to order (the waiter recommended Pad Thai) but we each ordered pretty much something different for everyone. The selection is quite large with choices of protein, spice levels, salads, stir-fry, starters and special entrees. After he took our order it must've been a good 35-45 minutes for our orders to come out. The waiter brought out two orders, went back and brought out three more orders. At that time two guys came in and sat down in the room and he went over and took their orders...Came back and gave them their drinks....and then went back to the kitchen and brought out two more orders for us. I still hadn't received my order and a few minutes later he came out with it. I'd ordered a Garb Lai salad but not sure what he'd given me. I took a couple of bites and one of the guys asked if that was the salad I ordered. I told them I didn't question it but after looking at it I could see it didn't look like the salad that was described on the menu. A few minutes after that a girl came to the table with another dish (which looked like a salad!)...turns out it was my order. She said to just keep the order they'd brought me and left my real order. I must say all the guys enjoyed the food. Two of our group ordered a spice level of 4 and it was very good and had great spice. They do like spice and said it was good and they wouldn't order a 5 anytime. I'm not sure what level of spice my order had but it had a very nice spice and taste to it. It was pork with a lot of good veggies and a large amount of jasmine rice. The only issue I had (and also one other of us) was that there was a couple of pieces of fat mixed in with the pork. The waiter never once came back during our meal to check on our drinks. This was an issue because we had been there so long and also with the spicier food most of us needed a refill. He did finally ask us (after we were done eating) if we needed a refill and 6 of us ordered water, as he said they were out of tea. Bottom line is that the food had good taste but the service was very slow. We finished eating around 2 hours after we walked in. They don't have any lunch menus, only one menu for dinner. It seems to be more of a dinner type restaurant based on the menu and they do serve out of nice plates and regular silverware. Our rating for the 8 of us was a 3.9 and we may not visit again due to the length of time to get our meal and the service. read more

This is some real Thai food , not that American Thai stuff lots of places have . Pad Thai was one of the best I have had in the last few years . This restaurant was recommended by a coworker. Upon entry, the establishment was welcoming, clean and we were greeted upon arrival. The servers were nice and the owners daughter explained to menus to us. Even though I normally go for fish or seafood dishes I went with the pork because the server suggested it. my partner got the pad tie and we got one of our usuals papaya salad. The kor moo yang "pork "was very pleasant and tender however, I feel it was missing a little more flavor. I wasn't really picking up any fish sauce, cilantro, garlic, or anything out of the marinade other than the sweetness. However, the dipping sauce did help correct that issue a little the pad. Thai was good as well however it was a little sweet papaya salad was phenomenal and truly authentic. We also ordered a mango sagoo to go. On the menu it is advertised with fresh mango on top however, we were advised that it's already blended within the mixture. I am a visual eater first so if that is what is shown on the menu, the item needs to reflect it. We were able to get the mango added and some coconut cream. That was the best dessert I've ever had. It was phenomenal and I will be back and time to order it all in all everything was great. Next time. I will most likely try the tilapia or the boat noodles, but we will be back. read more

This was an authentic Thai food place. We tried the pork skewers, drunken noodles and pad kra pow and I'll definitely say all the food was insanely good! This place opened within the past year and their portions were great and sitting space in the restaurant was great so they could accommodate may people. Visited Thai Delicasies for the first time on 9-7-25. The space is large and open. The server was very nice. I ordered the Pad See Ew, not spicy, because I am a wimp and hd heard the food was spicy. I chose chicken as the protein. The dish came out and the presentation was very colorful- a bright red plate with the chicken and noodles covered with green onions, bok choy and cilantro. I had not eaten all day, so I was very hungry by this time (around 6:30 PM). I had planned to take home some leftovers for the next day, but it was too good. Yes, I ate the entire plate of food in one sitting. I was stuffed, but it was worth it! I will definitely return for more. The server did mention that the dinners are rated on a spicy scale from 1-5, and it appeared that most dishes had a spice emoji on the menu. I do want to try some of the appetizers next, particularly chicken dumplings and spring rolls. I've lived in Hawai'i and had my fair share of Asian cuisine- this was as good as I've had! First and last visit. The waitress could not describe any dish. They did not have any lemons and the only condiments were in little packets. They had no spring rolls or egg rolls, although they were on the menu. The waitress explained that Thai food is very spicy and we had to order a number between 1 to 5 of how spicy we wanted our food. I ordered Soy fried rice with beef and chicken, spice rating of one. The menu said it came with beans, corn and scallions. I received a plate of brown rice with one scallion and one piece of beef visible. It was unbelievable spicy and inedible. The presentation was unappealing. I told the manager that I could not eat the meal. This place can not compete with Mai Thai who offers delicious Thai food at a reasonable price. Tried this place for the first time, I must say I won't return. The ambiance and decor looks like they threw random things together and hoped it would work. The waitress was nice and kind, though she never came and refilled our waters. The food was lack luster, the crab ragoons tasted and looked like they were made frozen. The glass noodles with beef I ordered had no distinct flavor. Also when ordering I was told to pick a spice level 1 - 5 so I picked one thinking it wouldn't be spicy. It was so spicy I couldn't eat it, then after I had taken a bite of the food the waiter tells me I could have ordered it without spice, which would have been helpful from the beginning. A reviewer's credibility and invocation of the word "authentic" is only as good as his breadth of experience. Being from metro Washington, DC, and having worked in NYC, among other areas in the US and overseas, I've experienced Thai restaurants most of my adult life, and it's always rewarding to discover one that, as much as possible to a non-native, seems authentic. The recently-opened Thai Delicacies restaurant in West Columbia, SC is unapologetically authentic., with an additional commitment to quality by Chef La and her aunt's admirable cooking. In the US, if you're familiar with Andy Ricker's Pok Pk (both the restaurant and the book) in Portland, OR, you'll have a similar feeling and experience here. It won't be apparent right away, however. The interior is rather large and somewhat spartan, as it's a former Old Country Buffet spot, I believe. Disregard this and stay for the food, which is not Americanized, as is the more established, popular Mai Thai restaurant a short distance away on the same Sunset Blvd. I've tried their Boat Noodle Soup, a Thai version of Vietnamese pho, which will surprise you with a broader depth of flavor, especially after you've used their condiments of sugar, vinegar, chili oil and sriracha sauce. (La's aunt was a Boat Noodle Soup vendor earlier in Thailand, and she suggests trying these initial proportions of those condiments via the dipping spoon: 2.5, 1, 1, and half.) The rice noodles they use, as with many of their ingredients, are from Thailand, and, along with their diverse vegetables, are better than what's used in other Thai restaurants I've tried in Columbia. I'm sure the soup will make you happy. And if you try the Grilled Pork with Sticky Rice and their otherworldly Nam Jim dipping sauce, as I did, you will also be happy. Little things they do make a difference. IYKYK. The spice levels, between 1 and 5, should be taken seriously by people who haven't grown up in a heat-fueled culture. While they warn you, it's probably a good idea to not go higher than 2, initially, because it will impact your experience. The new and evolving Thai Delicacies doesn't sing its own praises; they make appealing food but aren't marketing mavens. Their website is rudimentary, not even having an About Us section, and their IG account is not flashy. Just go for the food, support them, and hope they stick around because greater Columbia needs this place on its culinary map. read more

This is tough to review since my experience with Thai food is Thailand and Los Angeles but they say to be honest so I got takeaway, spring rolls, Papaya salad and Boat Noodle Soup, the papaya salad was tasty but was missing something and I couldn't put my finger on it, it just didn't have that sweet, sour and spicy taste, the boat noodle soup again had flavor but is up against some of the best I've ever had in LA so tough to call and my only major complaint about the soup was the ramen noodle instead of Thai clear noodle and there was one meatball cut in half and six small slivers of beef so if this is the normal portion of meat then it's not worth the price but maybe you get more in house rather than delivery. For me I may go back but I was hoping it would have been wanting to go back immediately, I've been waiting on somewhere that serves boat noodle soup for years to open in Columbia so I really hope it is successful. read more
