I have delayed in writing this review due to the inconsistency in service of 'Thai Dish' and with regard to consideration of the secondary effects of poor reviews. The service at this installation has ebb and flow over the past 5 years. From time to time the food quality falls to laziness, lack of quality assurance, and lack of freshness. It had been very difficult to get a freshly made meal that had not been made with rewarmed proteins, cold and chunky rice, or noodles that have been more of a mush. To say that you would be served good quality food at a fair price, in my opinion, would be far fetched. The ambiance of this location is no longer up for review. The restaurant is a take ONLY since 2020 due to COVID-19. read more

The food is very flavorful it is definitely the best Thia food around town they also have great delivery.

I have eaten here a few times over the years and always feel short changed. I often hear people describe it as being like the stuff you get in Boston and have to wonder what part they were eating in. Getting right to business, the place is clean, well spaced and decorative. The staff is friendly but often seemed lost or like they did not have adequate supplies/resources to do their job. For a Friday evening, they were not really busy. We ordered a few different items: pad Thai, mango curry, and seafood orgy. There were a couple mishaps with what we ordered but nothing drastic. The specialty dishes were flavorful, pretty and good sized. However, the pad Thai was disappointing as it sticky sweet, soggy noodles with little to no vegetables and overcooked proteins. As a staple of the cuisine I would hope it would be better represented and left really disappointed because the worst part was I had asked for extra vegetables. I am sure I will end up there again but won't make the same menu choice again. read more

I went and got the Volcanic eruption, while my girlfriend got Pad See-Ew. My dish was really good. Everything was cooked right, and the sauce was delicious. I ordered a 5 for spice and that's what I got. It was really spicy, and that's what I wanted. If you're timid with regards to spice, just know that 5 is pretty hot. I also got to try the Pad See-Ew and it was very good also. The noodles were a little less wide than I typically find, which is exactly what I like. For some reason I find this better than the standard wide rice noodles. It was well seasoned and vegetables were cooked quite well. The place was clean, especially the bathrooms. Since the last time I've been here I think they have redone the restrooms, considering how modern and clean they were. Lastly, our server was very friendly and attentive. Surprised to see negative reviews. I tend to go for lunch. Service can sometimes be a little slow for a business lunch. The food is always well worth the wait. As a general rule the lunch salad arrives quickly. The sometimes slow service has to do with lack of servers. With unemployment at all time lows finding quality staff is an issue for most restaurants in the area. The fried butterflies ( a fried dumpling stuffed with pork) are a must have appetizer I rarely skip. Lunch comes with a salad and a peanut based dressing. Really some iceberg lettuce and a few shreds of carrot with an excellent dressing that passes the time waiting for an appetizer or entree. Cashew nut Chicken is my usual order. Carrots onions, Cashews, Chicken sautéed in a flavorful soy based sauce served in your choice of spice levels. It also come with a choice of white or brown rice and is accompanied by a Tasty spring roll. Lots of everything, truly way more than a lunch serving. The seafood orgy, Pad Thai, Pineapple fried rice with Chicken are always excellent choices. Having lunched here several times a month since they opened I have always had freshly prepared food that was delicious. The kitchen always performs, the servers are not as consistent. Wow what a great surprise - we were searching for a place to eat on our way to sugarloaf and thought we'd have to settle for fast food or pizza. But we saw this place, decided to try it, and had some of the best Thai food we've ever experienced - and we've tried lots. Ordered green curry with duck, duck choo chee, tom yam Koong soup, fresh spring rolls and a steamed fish special. Authentic, fresh and so delicious!! Love this place! In my opinion, it's far better than the other one across town (in Lewiston). My favorite is the green curry with tofu. Although I prefer the tofu deep fried, I usually go for steamed, just to avoid the extra calories. Even so, the dish is wonderful. And their pad thai is fantastic, too. Some restaurants spice their foods to the point of discomfort - perhaps to hide the fact that there's no actual flavor. Thai Dish gets both the spiciness and the flavor absolutely right. read more

I felt like eating Asian food for dinner and settled on Thai Dish. The place was mostly empty, so I was seated right away. Staff was friendly, and gave me ample time to read the menu. Started my meal off with some crab rangoons, followed by their Thai Dish Special, and finished it off with dessert. Washed it down with Thai Iced Tea, which was the best part of the meal. The food is good for the area, but nothing to write home about. There was none of that eye-popping flavor I have come to expect with Thai cuisine. I was also put off by their lack of desserts. Have come here over the years an was very happy with their food, dine in and take out service. Upon ordering the Thai scallop 4 star hot for delivery along with Fresh Spring rolls, Once I dug in, I quickly discovered there was no chili sauce added at all on the Thai Scallop. The rolls were just that, Fresh and delish. Their peanut sauce is awesome. So I call and ask about my order. They put me on hold for 4 min 30 sec and I finally hang up and call back. They must have been busy? It was about 430 In any event, when I tell them I was on hold they apologize and I proceed to tell them my dilemma. The young man talks to mgr and they tell me they can send over the chili powder in 10 mins. Well by that time my food is cold So they send over the driver to pick up my food and are going to deliver my new order. I am hesitant but I agree and they bring me back a fresh order (or I hope they did) complete with a few more scallops and #4 heat. And hot it was but I like it! I have had the #5 heat and that just ruins the flavor of the food. IMO. Food was good and fresh with plenty of veggies. I give them 3 stars for their service on this particular order. Normally it would be a 4 star rating but they really screwed up. I would come back but I recommend checking your order before the driver leaves or just pick it up. read more

Awwww man, super bummed this place was a huge let down. Needed a quick take out dinner around 8 on a weeknight so stopped in. Husb was bummed there was no drunken noodle - he had pad knee Mao (chili garlic sauce) and I had chicken pad Thai per my usual. It was ready fast - but when we got home to dig in we both found the noodles were practically white and dry - completely missing (or scant used) any sauce or flavor. Sriracha was instantly added for both of us which didn't help enough so I had to make a quick faux pad thai sauce to mix in. Also my chicken tasted like it had been cooked by being boiled, dry and bland. And someone should tell the checkout boy - never ever ever ask a woman if she's pregnant. One of my new favorite places, so close by! I went there recently for lunch with a friend. I have been meaning to get there through the years, but just never ended up going, so I was pleased when he suggested we meet there. I started with hot Thai tea, which was heavenly - so fragrant, sweet and comforting. I loved the notes of flowers and coconut - and such a beautiful color as well! I asked my friend (who had been there before) what he recommended and he said that he had the duck in the past. I am trying to eat a bit healthier so I opted for the Secret Garden. My friend got what he had before, and liked it again (I don't remember exactly which dish it was, but fresh vegetables with slices of duck arrived at the table looking and smelling great). My plate was overflowing with lots of colorful vegetables - the sauce was delicious and I had enough to bring home for another meal. I will definitely be back! read more

If I could leave negative stars I would!! Never in my life have I ever been to a restaurant that refuses to take food back and charges for it. Hubby and I went for dinner I took one bite of just the overcooked rice noodles and it was sour. I ordered pad Thai btw. Didn't take one bite of chicken!! I was told too bad that is how it's made. Well I've had pad Thai tons of times and it's never been sour and over cooked. Underwhelming at best. I would be very shocked to find a Thai chef in the kitchen. Lacked authenticity and the balance of flavors necessary in any Thai fare. Even the Pad Thai noodles, the most popular Thai dish among American consumers, was a terrible, watery mess. The Yum Nua (steak salad) was not prepared or presented well either. Southeast Asian food preparation is an art form. Not only a balance of what key elements but the order in which they are introduced into the cooking. This is not something one can "wing." The restaurant should have been packed for the season, day of the week and the time of evening we dined. It was barely attended at all. In addition. neither the server nor bartender nor food runner could answer any questions I asked; nor could they offer intelligent recommendations regarding the menu. They had not, it seemed, even tasted the dishes. And I, nor the persons who accompanied me, will be returning under the current chef and/or management. read more

I called to complain and they refused to refund my money or send new food. They offered me 20% off my next meal!!! Hubby and I went here years ago and loved the food. I recently found myself in this neighborhood and decided to pick up dinner before heading home. We got the Pla Pat Pet and the Spicy Tofu.. Eekk. S-A-L-T-Y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both were almost inedible. When I tried the first dish, I thought someone must have accidentally spilled a container of salt into it...but the second dish tasted just as bad. I actually couldn't distinguish between the fish entrée and the tofu entrée...because they both left a taste in my mouth like gargling with salt water. The fried spring rolls were delicious ... friends of mine ordered for their staff and when the order wasn't complete they tried to call and were told there was nothing they could do until they spoke with the manager. After waiting for quite sometime they called and were told the manager would be available after 4pm, so part of the staff never got lunch. when they stopped by in person they were told by the manager that the cooks said they made every dish and she was not returning funds paid for food not received. I hope she doesn't plan to do business with a large corporation ( like a hospital or the like) because she certainly made sure that that ship has sailed. We are big city people who took up residence in Auburn about 20 years ago. We consider ourselves foodies, we travel often across the US on various trips and enjoy ethnic food on our travels. Thai dish easily compares well to some of the best Asian restaurants we have visited. I do not understand the sub-five-star ratings for this gem in Auburn. I'm a bit torn over how many stars to give Thai Dish. By my Massachusetts standards, when it's good, it's a 5, when it's bad it's a 3. By my Maine standards, this is by far THE BEST Thai food you will find in the LA area, and it's usually pretty good. My family has been going to Thai Dish for about 8 years now and it continues to be our favorite restaurant in the area. The decor is typical for a Thai restaurant and the service is always friendly. I don't think I've ever had to wait to be seated. The food used to be comparable to what you'd find in major cities, but I think they switched cooks a couple of years ago and the quality has gone down a little. The flavors are not quite as subtle as they used to be and the food can occasionally be too salty. I think they might have started trying to cater a little more to "American" palates. That said, this is still pretty great for the area. Try the Fried Butterflies appetizer. I like most of the noodle dishes (Pad See Ew, Pad Ke Mao, Pad Thai...). The Panang and Matsaman curries are pretty good but sometimes a liiiittle too salty. I don't eat fish but the rest of my family really likes the Pla Pa Pet. If you're looking for Thai in the LA area, this is your best bet. read more

Each were very good, without an overpowering curry flavor, more of a fresh, crisp flavor! This place is actually pretty good considering the location (Lewiston-Auburn isn't known for its food let's just say that). I've tried most curries and prefer the Yellow the best; the potatoes are always cooked to perfection and are always the first to hit my mouth. I usually have take out. Had tried another Thai in Lewiston and were looking for a different place. Had been by this place several times and it looked on the outside a little ordinary. But don't go by the outside. Inside we found very freindly staff and delicious food. The flavors were more subtle and varied than other places we've tried including a favorite place of ours down home in Pennsylvania. The cocunut soup favored lime and was lighter on the cocunut milk which I appreciated. The spring rolls were light and delicate. The main dishes were delightful. The wine selection was sparse but I didn't feel gauged by the price. My wife and I came out of the restaurant raving about the meal. read more

I ordered the chicken Pad Thai (3-stars spicy) and chicken satay, to go. When I opened the Pad Thai I was worried it was going to be bland since it was pretty pale. But after the first bite, I was a fan. I've never had Pad Thai that pale but that flavorful before. And 3-stars spicy was plenty -- most of the time at places I order 4-stars.
