We had egg rolls or something on the side that came with Thai chilli sauce, and that was also very tasty. The won ton soup was also quite fresh and tasty- although I don't know that the size was worth the $7. The Thai style fried rice was good although I don't know that it was truly fried. We ordered here twice. Their food is very bland, does not have much "Thai" flavors at all. The first time, I ordered Chicken Pad Thai, which I have eaten in many restaurants. This one was definitely very bland, no heat at all. I thought I would give them another try. 2nd time, I ordered the Cashew dinner which is served with brown gravy. The brown gravy was so thin, it was more of a beef broth and a very flavorless one at that. Did not taste like Thai food, was more like a flavorless stir fry. Their appetizers are very good. Great little Thai restaurant. Stopped in for lunch with a friend. They have an extensive selection of noodle dishes. I love noodle dishes. I had the Drunken Noodle and my friend had the Pad Thai. Both were delicious. A good portion size...just right, not too large not too small. Both came with a side of 2 small veggie dumplings which were delicious! The server asked for a 1 -5 spicy selection. I chose 3, and my friend chose 1. Both dishes were a little spicy, but I didn't think mine was significantly more spicy than my friends. I'm torn because the flavors are really good, but I still didn't really like my meal at all. It was nice and spicy like I was hoping for (I order mine 4 stars), but drunken noodles are usually served with Wide Rice Noodles (Guay Tiew Naam). Thin rice noodles gave it more of a pad Thai experience. The sauce coats differently which works great for pad Thai but didn't really work too well with the drunken noodles. I'm not a huge fan of thin rice noodles which is why I usually order drunken noodles when getting Thai, so it was disappointing to not find the nice soft wide rice noodles that I was looking forward to on my lunch break. The strange part is, looking through the photos here and on Google, I see "Drunken Noodles" made with both styles of noodle so I guess it just depends on who makes it that day? It's located in an odd spot. It feels like you addres pulling up to a motel. It's in the lower level of a two story motel lining building along Route 1, across from the Quality Inn. We enjoy coming here a few times per year. Sometimes we eat in, but usually do take out. My wife and I just ordered from Thai Garden through door dash. Unfortunately, the food took a long time to get here. When the food finally arrived we received a free complimentary order of dumplings because of the delay with a nice note. On top of that, the food was terrific and they didn't cut any corners. We got egg rolls, green curry, sweet and sour soup and teriyaki salmon. Not only was the food good but they didn't cut corners. My wife got a legitimate piece of salmon where she usually gets ripped off. It was really nice for a takeout restaurant to think of the customer on the delay, give us fair portions for what we paid and to deliver fresh and well cooked food. By far the worst drunken noodles I have ever had. I hate to write a bad review. Unfortunately, the meal I just had lacked any Thai flavor profiles at all. I get this area runs on tourists and their spending. the meal had zero spice, the wrong noodles. very little protein and tasted like the sauce was tomato soup. The one plus was the man running the register, he was friendly. I stay in the area every other week consistently, I would steer clear. Not authentic Thai food. I was told this place was amazing. Called the order in, gentleman taking the order was nice. Arrived same gentleman gave me my order. When I served the drunken noodles, it was looking more like Pad Thai and the tamarind favor was strong. I called the restaurant, was told to bring it back. The gentleman checks my order, he said that's their version of drunken noodles. I was given another order with the wide noodles. He said next time ask for the wide noodles. No problem. Get home and the order tastes a bit like drunken noodles. But it's loaded with more vegetables than noodles. And there was pineapple in the dish. Pineapple was a first for those that ate it. Just not the quality, I expected from their 4.5 stars. But the gentleman that was working tonight, very good customer service. Very good. read more

I was worried about Thai food in Maine. How stupid of me! This cute little restaurant is across the street from our hotel and boy am I glad because we will be back. Had the spring rolls and I'm kind of a snob about a proper roll. These surpass my expectations. Beyond belief delicious and fresh. Nice menu but we stuck with he rolls since we'd already eaten earlier in the day. Next time we're going to try an entree and I had no doubt it will be amazing. read more

This was our second trip to this restaurant. The first time was wonderful. This time was even better. Love the Drunken Noodles, dumplings, spring rolls and our new favorite, Nam Sod. Everything is very fresh, hot and delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They are only doing takeout these days. Our order was ready very quickly both times and we did not call ahead. I'm not sure how anyone who likes Thai food could dislike this or have any other complaints ...no matter how "wide" the noodles are or aren't. They even gave us a FREE order of steamed dumplings. This is my go to takeout even before COVID. A combination of appetizers and Thai ( tofu pad Thai for me and chicken Pad Thai for my daughter with a selection of appetizers. I've literally never written a restaurant review before (or any other kind of review). But the food from this place was SO bland and so relatively expensive for food that tastes like practically nothing, that I had to write. I got papaya salad, which I normally love. There was plenty of the sauce, it's just that the sauce tasted like only lime--not the yummy mix of sweet and sour that I associate with papaya salad. I also got panang curry. The size of the serving was half what I get in other Thai restaurants. The sauce was yellow (instead of deep orange/red). And the taste was also utter bland/blah/nothing. So if you want overpriced Thai food that tastes like no spices were used to cook it, this is your spot. Two visits for take out, two lousy experiences. After the first visit, I waited to see of things changed before giving a ZERO star review. First visit, I got shrimp pad thai and the shrimp was completely undercooked and translucent/rubbery. (How does a cook do that?). Second visit, chicken pad thai, chicken larb and chicken satay. The pad thai was ok. Not good, not very flavorful, but edible. The satay had absolutely no seasoning, but the dipping sauce was ok...not good, but ok. The larb had absolutely no seasoning. Unbelievable! Oh, and tom yum soup that also had absolutely no flavor. Lots of large prawns, so that was nice, but no flavor. A few of us, who split this meal all agreed. All of the food was just plain bland. I have to wonder if Mainers just don't want a lot of spice and I guess I can accept that, but the food on the second visit was over $60 and this would have cost less downtown Boston and the food would have been infinitely better. The pad thai on the first visit was almost $20. I am used to paying $12-$14 at Massachusetts Thai restaurants. I will try this place again in maybe a year and if the flavor/prices improve, I will update the review. read more

I won't belabor it, but it's just not good. At all. Ironically, just 18 miles down Route 1 in Portland at Boda is some of the most authentic and best Thai food I have ever had. Not loving the takeout from here, just mediocre to blah at best. If there ever were a time where I asked for my money back, it would be now. Last year we treated our friends here and the food was good, the service was okay and that's fine since he was a newer waiter. But, the takeout was really bad. Maybe we've been spoiled by Li's in Freeport and yes, maybe we were trying to save some $$$ by not getting takeout from Orchid Thai, but long story short, we won't be goinging back here again. The food had no flavor, you don't even need to taste test: please see pics to verify. I ordered the Mee Paad which is $13.95, very reasonable, but it only had one shrimp and the rest was chicken. The chicken would have been 10.50, so I paid $3.45 for a small shrimp? My husband loves Thai and will not go back again, his Chicken Pad Thai was flavorless with a bunch of noodles and little to no chicken or vegetables. The dipping sauce for the crab rangoons was the worst duck sauce ever, super salty and inedible (that's duck sauce, made with sugar). Last note, why do they use lemon as a side, I've only ever had lime, even in Thailand. What the heck Thai Garden? Thai Garden this is us breaking up for good. This was my second choice for Thai food tonight, but after the first one didn't pan out, I called Thai Garden up and placed my to go order on the way there. The food was ready in less than 10 minutes! Got back home and the crab rangoons were SO GOOD!! The appetizer has 6 of them and we barely finished 3 between the two of us. We each ordered chicken pad Thai and the servings were very hearty. Like, we barely made a dent in them. I think this will feed us for 3 meals! I'll add that it was some of the best pad Thai I've ever had. The ambiance in the restaurant was nice and fresh and would be great to dine in. I only deducted a star because the price was pretty high for what we ordered. I'm used to paying and seeing about $9 for the pad Thai, but this was $12 each. So fresh and made to order. No scallions, no problem thank you so much, I really hate them. Spice level is custom to the dish you order including not at all spicy. The squid tempura was amazing and the shrimp praram (sp) was cooked perfectly with a nice tangy peanut sauce. No problem with our reservation of 10 people and everyone loved what they ordered as well. We come every year when we're in town for the weekend and it hasn't dissapointed once. read more

I have eaten in here before, the overall food is above average for a Thai restaurant in Maine. There are actually quite a few Thai restaurants in Maine. Take out service is great as well. We live close by, and frequent Thai Garden. The staff are very nice, with polite and fast service. They go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. The food is very good, although the menu is typical Thai. They have the best sweet/sour sauce I have tasted, and they will sell a container of it for home cooking. The peanut sauce is also good. If you want your food spicy, tell them so, because otherwise even spicy dishes will be mild. read more

Thai Garden is the complete package. It offers great food at a great price all while having great service. I have been to Thai Garden many times and my go-tos are vegetable spring rolls as an appetizer, drunken noodles with chicken with 5 star spiciness, and a Thai iced tea. The vegetable spring rolls are always fresh and come with a great dipping sauce. The drunken noodles are deliciously spicy and might be my favorite thing to eat in the Freeport/Brunswick area. The portions are also generous, which is always nice. Lastly, the Thai iced tea is refreshing and not too sweet. Also, I have not yet personally gotten take out yet, but it seems to be popular with many people. I would recommend Thai Garden to my friends and family. read more
