This was my first visit for takeout, but my son orders from here often and loves it. I chose the Tom Kha soup and the duck noodles with boy choy, onions, bean sprouts and snow peas. The soup broth was very tasty and although this soup traditionally made with lemongrass, the menu description did not list it and I did not detect it. There was a huge amount of mushrooms but they tasted like they were from a can. Lots of chicken too. The duck noodle dish was good but had too little bok choy and snow peas. The duck however was plentiful and very moist. My son loved his Pad Thai with duck and the fried pork dumplings. Clean eating, comfort food! This was exactly what I needed after being outside for a few hours in the drizzly, damp, cool day. I picked up dinner for my two children and myself. Two of us each got a House Soup. This soup has a clear, flavorful, mild, chicken broth with plenty of fresh vegetables, tofu, and glass noodles. We all shared the Pure Thai dumplings. (Even my picky six year old ate one, and he also took sips of my soup and ate the broccoli out of it.) Two of us shared the Larb. I got a side of white rice for the picky six year old. My eight year old got the Thai Iced Tea with Boba. We sat inside while we waited for the food. They were very busy with takeout orders. Several people were working diligently to get the orders out. My wife got the spicy pad Thai with beef and it was great as well, just know that regular spicy is SPICY, but we figured that. I have eaten at Pure Thai dozens of times over the last 6-7 years and I have never had an average meal here. Napat, the owner, does all the cooking with an assortment of excellent assistants to prepare the sides, appetizers and provide superior service. The consistency and quality of the food served has been so good for so many years that it deserves all the high ratings it has received. Pure Thai is a direct reflection of the owner who works extremely hard to deliver a great product year after year. Sure, the decor doesn't match the Four Seasons standards, but the restaurant is in Lewiston, Maine.....not NYC. This is definately the best honey duck I have ever ordered from a thai restaurant. The value is great and they give you a lot of duck for your order. This was my favorite place to go to when I am in the area. The owner is extremely nice and welcoming. We ordered their bubble tea as well. It was another favorite. Pure Thai Kitchen is the best Thai restaurant in L/A, hands-down. My wife and I have been visiting Pure Thai both to dine-in and takeout for several years now and love this little place dearly. Pure Thai Kitchen's menu exhibits variety, value, and very delicious food. My personal favorite is the Pumpkin Curry with tofu. This hearty and tasty dish is complex and enjoyable in its flavor and never fails to satisfy. My wife often orders the Pineapple Fried Rice or Hawaiian Cashew Nut, both with tofu. Both of these are delicious and made with fresh ingredients, as well. We have both noted the high quality of the vegetables in Pure Thai's dishes, as well as the care observed in preparation. This little gem is hidden in a less traveled area of Lewiston. We stopped by dinner and the exterior appeared to a but run down and we questioned our choice. We ventured inside and were delightfully surprised by the very clean and inviting atmosphere. The tables were decorated with flowers floating in cute little bowls. Sparkling glasses and rolled silverware adorned each table. We were greeted immediately and seated. The service was wonderful, friendly and attentive. The crispy shrimp app comes with four large shrimp battered with wontons and deep fried to a delicious crispness. The pad Thai with chicken was flavorful and very spicy. Two stars is plenty hot. The peanut topping added a nice layer to already wonderful texture. The pineapple fried rice had a lovely aroma and even better combination of flavors. The spiciness of the curry, sweetness of the pineapple, the tenderness of the veggies and the soft pellets of rice, topped with toasted cashews. They also offer bubble tea in multiple flavors, as well as tasty Thai iced coffee. This is sure to be a repeat visit. read more

This Thai food was definitely way, way below par. If you've ever had really good Thai food, this is not it! Near Bates college; probably good if you're a college student. Pad Thai was absolutely flavorless, with no sauce, and a lot of oil or liquid on the bottom of the plate. I don't understand how it could have absolutely no flavor. The only thing I could taste was the crushed peanut on top of the noodles. Spring rolls fried nicely, but consisted of only soggy cabbage inside. Boba tea was the only thing that saved the meal, for $5, Thai Boba tasted good. I saw the lady that made it, grab a bag of Dominos brown sugar and dump it into my cup to sweeten it, unlike most places that use liquid sugar. I would only go back to this restaurant for the boba; at $5, it's a steal. I probably won't be back, as the food was so tasteless, I threw most of it away. Restroom in the back was not clean, with a really dirty sink, with caked on black dirt. Walking by the open kitchen area, it was super gross, I wouldn't come back because of this reason.
