Sun Sun As a new home owner in Randolph, Sun Sun was a very pleasent surprise. GOOD: Price, portion, quality - all there BAD: Nothing much, orange chicken needs more crunch Sun Sun was a great choice. I ordered the dinner combo (orange chicken, crab ragoon and a pork egg roll) Pairing appetizers and entrees is a genius idea, more take out should do it. The huge platter portion for just over 15 bucks will last me 3 or 4 meals (see pics). My one small snag, is a snag that bites many takeout Chinese places - whether it's sesame, general tsos or orange chicken - not fried enough. The under fry didn't ruin my experience. There were 4 of us. We ordered the orange chicken, general chicken, beef with snap peas, crab Rangoon, spring rolls. Servings were really big that we probably could feed 2-3 more people from our orders. Crab rangoons were creamy and crispy. The beef with snap peas were really good especially if you like snap peas. The sweet and sour chicken was really good especially how they deep fried it. The general chicken was alright. Probably could have been cut smaller it could have been crispier. The spring rolls were alright for me but my companions really liked that this was stuffed with meat rather than just vegetables. service was alright and the server was nice and polite. Bathroom was clean and the ventilation in the restaurant was good. This place deserves a higher rating for sure. read more

I ordered take out from here with my husband and his family. I was really satisfied with the food and the prices were reasonable. The portions were large and the the food was warm when we opened it. We ordered four entrees but somehow ended up with extra rice containers lol. Not complaining though. I had the shrimp and broccoli. It was definitely more broccoli than shrimp but it didn't feel like they skimmed on the shrimp either. My husband had sesame chicken and pineapple. I'd never seen that combination but he says it was good. The others had general tso chicken, crab rangoons and lo mein. The crab rangoons were just ok appbut the rest was good. Sun sun used to be the best Chinese food around. Since the new owners, I wouldn't feed my dog this food. The last time we had sun sun delivery, the order was 2 hours late, and arrived smelling of cigarettes when I took a bite of my pork friend rice it tasted like I was eating from an ashtray. I promptly called back and the girl whom answered stated she had asked them to dump the batch of rice out and was acting very sketchy about it. I used to eat at this establishment once a week their food was so good but these days never again! Very sad the direction this business has taken! read more

I hate to write this about my once favorite go-to chinese places, but something has changed. I was in the neighborhood recently and was excited to have an excuse to eat here. I saw the sign that they were open for dine in. There was a young man behind the counter, when I say young, I mean like teenage young. There is no longer table service. You place your order at the counter, pay, then one of the cooks brings it out to you. Not like it used to be. I was the only person in the place. I sat at the bar and looked at the menu, then placed an order for a drink and my meal. The teenage bar tender carefully followed the drink recipe. While managing to take phone orders. Sun Sun does a hoping take-out/delivery business. The drink was fine, the food took a lot longer than expected, I assumed the kitchen was busy with take-out. I looked around and started to see some red flags. The bar area was not clean, my feet stuck to the floor and there was rubbish on the bar top. I noticed the young mans backpack was stacked o top of the open "to go" containers. Which made me cringe. Another couple came in and ordered their food and mixed drinks. The teen behind the bar did not know his measurements and both the mixed drinks came up short. Then they just sat at the end of the bar. The couple got their food before for they got their drinks. I was literally watching them melt. Finally, the couple spoke up about the drinks and they were served. The couple asked for a to go box and I watched in horror as the teen dug one out from under his bookbag. I had seen enough. I left my meal hardly touched. The only thing I can say is the portions were generous and the take out bags were flying out. The dining in experience was subpar at best. read more

Gotta say, this place does a great job everytime we get food to go. Certainly not the quality of Boston Chinatown, but so much better than every other Chinese restaurant in the area. Head and shoulders above Lousy Garden in Hallowell. They serve the usual variety of Chinese food, but there's more care put into the preparation, and the portions are generous. If you are lucky enough to get someone to answer, the order is usually delivered incorrectly and takes a long time. It's 50/50 if the food will be good or over cooked. The food really went down hill for whatever reason I use to regular this place with the family and now we drive 25 minutes out of the way to get decent Chinese food. I have heard great things about this place from everyone that has mentioned it. I visited tonight and ordered a combo dinner plate with Sesame chicken, chicken fingers, pork fried rice and an egg roll. Overall, not terribly impressed. Our server was quite attentive, and the food came quickly, which was nice. The sesame chicken didn't taste fresh (it was a little dry). I liked the rice and the egg roll, but the chicken fingers just tasted like grease. Not a terrible experience, but I would probably recommend Lucky Garden or Canton Village ahead of Sun Sun. read more

I wouldve given this place 5 stars if it werent for Lucky Garden one-upping them.... maybe the owners could arrange some sort of duel with swords and see who will reign supreme once and for all? The "fried" items are the ones I love best here. Their rice (for me) is so-so... but good LORD their chicken fingers and crab rangoons are always done to perfection. Service is good and you get HUGE portions for a nice price. I dont like going in there and listening to twangy ear-splitting country music playing, but I suppose it's far more telling of the clientele than the owners. I was always bouncing back n forth between SunSun and Lucky Garden, and even combined the two at times if I was doing take-out. I know many other locals who also do this. :) read more

Everyone has raved about this place, so I was really, really disappointed when I finally ate here. The sesame chicken was... just okay. I did like that it stayed crispy in the sauce, but it was nothing spectacular. The crab rangoons were good and the chicken fingers were your standard chicken fingers (they never change, from restaurant to restaurant). My partner got the hot and sour soup which was horrible, slimy grossness. When our waitress came by to check on us, he let her know and she was very accommodating and made a recommendation for the wonton soup which he enjoyed. Let's take a moment to talk about the wait staff. Our waitress, Sienna, was fantastic. As I mentioned, she made an informed recommendation on the soup. She seemed like she genuinely cared about us enjoying our food. However, there were other wait staff just hanging around gossiping and complaining about their earlier customers, which was incredibly unprofessional and annoying. There were about 6 waitresses for no customers, just standing around. One girl decided to vacuum right next to my table (actually bumping the table) for lack of anything productive to do. For the most part every time we visit Sun Sun it's a positive experience. We mainly do take-out orders but we do occasionally​ eat-in. Usually,​ we see the same servers every time which means the owners must treat their employees right if they stick around. The place could use a bit of a remodel or renovation. Regardless they serve some great food! Our pickup orders are usually ready in 15 minutes​ of calling. You won't​ usually wait long if you eat-in either. I love their fried​ rice and the fried dough balls are a great treat for dessert​. The prices are alright but the bill can quickly add up. One time they forgot our rice and we were unable to get a replacement for it. ​I tend to find Chinese food hit or miss but Sun Sun usually delivers. read more

Decided to order take out on our way home from from Boothbay. Never again! Got to Augusta and got a phone call and said your husband needs to come back you have Becky's order. I said your kidding me we're almost home we're in Augusta we've paid a toll. I said you're going to give us a discount. She replied no. I replied with an expletive. We returned and all we got was $2.00 in toll money. Forget the time and gas for their mistake and Becky waiting in the parking lot to remake her food which we returned! Expect authentic Chinese food cooked right in the restaurant. You don't get that frozen, premade, run of the mill psudo Asian fast food here. They are real chefs, cooking real food from fresh ingredients, straight from their kitchen to your plate! Even though the restaurant does get busy sometimes, you are still both seated and served in a timely manner. The staff is usually very courteous and helpful if you have any questions so feel free to ask. I usually order tea, which is made by the pot and conveniently left at the table. My appetizer is usually their fried wontons OR soup offer, (which only costs a dollar) and I enjoy that while my order is being prepared. I recommend at least trying it. If you are worried about filling up.. don't be. If you can't finish your meal they have take home boxes available and let you pack your own. Their PuPu for two is very generous and is enough for three or even four people. They also offer a wide variety of other classic dishes for very reasonable prices considering the amount of food you are served. This is not a large place with a lot of signage, so you might miss it if you are not from the area. Like a pearl in a shell, it is worth looking for. It is family run and operated, by people who actually care about the quality of food and service you recieve. Pretty good food. I have liked almost everything I've tried, and what I didn't like was just because I'd never tried it before and it wasn't my favorite. I usually order for delivery. The delivery drivers are friendly but it often takes a long time and by the time it gets here the food is cold and soggy. Sometimes the girl answering the phone ( no idea who it is or if it's the same one every time ) is not very friendly and doesn't listen very well. Overall the food is pretty good.
