This cozy spot delivered incredibly authentic and flavorful dishes that didn't disappoint. Being from Texas we were looking for a authentic Thai place for dinner. I found this place via Yelp and the ratings were high so we had to try. The Thai tea served in a tall glass mug didn't disappoint at all and was DELISH!! Started with the spring rolls as an appetizer and wow what a "PRESENTATION". The Spicy Basil Chicken had so much flavor and was extremely fresh with a "kick" of spice to it but in a vey good way. Teriyaki chicken very authentic and had its own homemade spin with an amazing taste !! To top off the dinner we ended with the coconut ice cream and Sticky mango rice!! Best I ever had and was a delicious delight. Found out this place was family owned and glad we came into support Local. Thai Fire is an absolute must-try; the dishes are perfectly prepared and the savory sauces are spot on with generous portions and so worth it. Highly recommend Thai Fire. Ok. Beyond the fact Mama (rice) has monopolized Ventura county, I absolutely am in love with Thai Fire. My girlfriend and I got lunch (no drinks) and was UNDER $40!!!! Whomever is reading this review, words can't express how amazingly wonderful our food , service, ambiance was at Thai Fire. Upon entry, we were greeted with a smile and a very small wait. They were full. After being seated we were greeted by a sweet young lady that asked us if we had any questions don't hesitate to ask. We ordered Tom Kha soup, we all agreed it's the " Best we've ever eaten ". We ordered Dumplings, Spring Rolls and Mango Sticky Rice!! All served family style. The place was very clean. As locals who have tried just about every Thai spot in town, and as self proclaimed very picky, Thai food lovers, this place absolutely exceeded our expectations. Tie is our favorite cuisine so we don't say this slightly, this place is amazing! Everything was incredibly flavorful, but the yellow curry was next level, Rich, comforting and seriously one of the best we've ever had. It's a small smaller spot, so definitely expect a wait, but it is 1000% worth it. Their service is friendly and fast, and the experience feels really personal. The owner even came by to check on us and spend some time chatting about the restaurant and his role in the community, which made it feel even more special. (bonus, it's locally owned by a fire chief who just adds to the heart behind the place) the decor is super cute and unique, with art, props, and firefighter touches that give it so much character. Our first time here and everything was great! The food was great, the service was great, ambience was good. I've tried a couple of Thai restaurants here in Ventura and they always disappointed me, specially coming from LA and after visiting Thailand, this is the only Thai restaurant we will be going to from now on in Ventura county. While I had high expectations, the overall experience was somewhat disappointing. However, my family enjoyed the meal, so that was a plus. Restaurant Atmosphere Despite the rainy weather, the restaurant was fully packed. It was small but clean and well-organized. It seemed like a popular spot, which raised my expectations for the food. The staff was busy attending to customers, creating a lively atmosphere. Ordered Dishes & Ratings (Out of 5 Stars) Egg Rolls - 3.0 As expected, these were vegetable-only egg rolls with a rather ordinary taste. They were decent but not impressive enough to reorder. Tom Yum Soup (Chicken + Shrimp Added) - 3.5 Even with the added shrimp, the broth didn't stand out. The balance between sourness and spiciness was good, but it lacked depth in flavor. Papaya Salad (Medium) - 3.5 The vegetables were fresh, but the sourness was a bit too strong for my taste, making the overall flavor slightly unbalanced. Combination Fried Rice - 2.0 One of the most disappointing fried rice dishes I've had recently. The rice wasn't fluffy or well-separated but felt slightly mushy, and the seasoning was too mild, making it quite bland. Pad See Ew (Chicken) - 3.8 This was the most enjoyable dish of the order. My mom and I visited for the first time yesterday. I have always passed by this cute lil spot and it is always full! We arrived around 6pm and were seated immediately. We decided to share the chow mein with chicken, orange chicken, and some fried rice. Everything came out so hot, full of flavor, and with amazing presentation. The sauces at the table were all amazing as well. We paid $50 for our meals, shared and even took some home. The owner came by a few times to check on us and our waitress was very helpful and kind. First dish was a special of the night, asparagus with snow peas, chicken and shrimp and this was AMAZING!!! ** PLEASE ADD THIS TO MAIN MENU** Second dish was the curry with beef and that had the perfect amount of spice and heat, very flavorful!! I highly recommend both dishes!! Thai Tea was also excellent and came in a very cool tall beer glass!! Service was very prompt, attentive and very friendly! The owner, Jerry is a US Veteran so I love supporting Veterans!! He's also a Federal Fire Chief, hence the name Thai Fire!! He came up to ask us how the meal to check in on us to ensure satisfaction!! The interior decor is very cool with an exposed brick facade and a very cool mural as well as some metal art and fire fighting gear!! Highly recommend for great Thai food!! It is a very intimate place to have a conversation with which I loved. My waitress was one of the friendliest I have ever encountered. She was attentive and accommodating as they had already closed and was not rushing us at all. They start you off with complimentary soybeans which is great. We ordered the cream cheese appetizer and I have to say it is one of the best cream cheese appetizers I have tried. Cooked to perfection as it was creamy and soft to the bite. We ordered the yellow curry, fried rice, and chicken pad thai with each plate presented beautifully. Every plate was delicious and rich to the flavor!!! If you are in doubt this is the spot to try!! I got the pad Thai lunch special for $16.95 that included a crispy and flavorful spring roll, fresh leafy salad (I found the dressing a bit too sweet), and freshly sectioned orange with a raspberry. Their pad Thai is one of the best I've ever eaten with both the distinct flavor of tamarind and wok hay. Their orange chicken lunch special included the same salad, spring roll, and fresh fruit, along with a scoop of white rice for the same price. The chicken was crisp, not too sweet, and had the wonderful orange flavor imbued by actual grated orange peel! Service was very professional and kind. For takeout we went with our classic orders of a rice dish and a soup. A little out of left field for us but we ordered their orange chicken only because we had read a few reviewers highlighting how good it was, so we didn't want to pass it up. No issues with the delivery at all. Our food came exactly as we ordered it and was packaged carefully which we appreciated! Good portion sizes too which for to go orders you never know. All in all a great spot to get takeout from. As for the food, an easy 5/5 stars! Everything was delicious. Their fried rice has a good amount of extra veggies that you don't always see. The rice tasted really fresh and not greasy, yet had nice flavor. My favorite was definitely the orange chicken as it was white meat chicken and had the most luxurious sauce with a nice mild batter. You really could taste the light orange flavor, super delicious and I can see why it was a fan favorite. The toss up was the Tom kha soup for me, it was good but the broth didn't taste as developed as some other places I like in the area. All in all though every dish was good and I'm even more eager to come back to try some of their other raved about dishes like the spicy crispy catfish. Also if you like spice this spot hits the mark because their chili oil is FIRE for you hot sauce lovers. Thai Fire is a new place to try on Ventura 's Main Street in midtown. And it's worth a visit! Fresh, clean and welcoming, there are only 8 or 9 tables inside and another few outside. It seems to be family run, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. The menu was large and covered almost any type of Thai food. I had the lunch special ($14.99, multiple choices). It was excellent! They have a selection of 3 different fresh made chili selections. Our waitress recommended one that had 2 different fresh chili types sliced into a sweet vinegar that was incredible. My friend and I came here on a busy Saturday evening and we saw nearly every table full, so we thought "this place must be great!" We did not realise that we were very wrong. It seems like there's only one or two people who act as servers, which makes for a very delayed service. We were greeted when we entered and given the last open table; but no one came to offer water or drinks for 15 mins. Even when we were finally offered drinks, we were discouraged from ordering a smoothie because "it takes 15 mins." There was a nice man who I assumed was the owner who went around checking on tables and asking how everyone's food was, but he was never once helping serve food or deliver drinks. Our food was just okay. I ordered brocolli, spinach, and chicken in peanut sauce, which was very heavy on the sauce; it felt like soup. Also, even though it says "steamed spinach," it's clearly just raw. The peanut sauce was very creamy by had little flavor. My friend had ordered some type of noodle dish with tofu that was very flavorful but stopped eating midway after finding a hair in her dish. We didn't bring it up to our server because she was clearly the only one serving every table, and we felt bad giving her an extra burden to deal with. Overall, it was a less than positive experience.
