Finally decided to try the Thai Garden Restaurant located near Capitol Mall (across from Target). I chose a Fresh Spring Roll with Shrimp and pork. It was fresh and tasty. The accompanying sauce was a runny peanut sauce. It wasn't the best peanut sauce I've had but it was acceptable. I do like a thicker sauce, and this one was quite runny. I also order a Mango Salad with Chicken. The lettuce and veggies were fresh and crunchy. The presentation was quite lovely! The mangos were kind of tasteless, which was disappointing. They were plentiful, but no flavor to them. The salad dressing was refreshing. I had asked for spicy level 3, but I think I may go with 4 the next time. I didn't feel any heat with 3 and I do like a little heat. The chicken was slightly dry, but tasty. The restaurant itself was clean and the wait staff polite. I would definitely try this place again. Yellow curry Feels like someone poured a can of coconut milk with vegetables and salt. You can see in pics that yellow curry is actually white and bland. My Mom wanted to come here because she once had a crunchy whole fish that she was crazy about and she wouldn't shut up about it's crunchiness, so I figured it Had to be good and we checked it out last night. I could feel it on my tongue and teeth. It wasn't lemon or vinegar but the only way I can describe it is acidic. I ordered the spicy garlic chicken wings and it had the same acid like characteristic. Dad barely ate his spicy chicken whatever it was. Mom wanted to order the black rice with mango for dessert but by the time the check came, we had had enough. I requested ice water and got a partial glass of water. The meal, I ordered pad see ew with beef and the noodles were much narrower and thicker than I have ever had. But it's all about the flavor and not the shape of noodles. WRONG! These were very Al dente and not enjoyable to eat at all. No flavor until I added chile and soy sauce. The beef is low grade. The shaking beef consisted of dry cubes of meat served on a bed of iceberg lettuce and sliced tomatoes with a couple of shreds of basil and some raw onion. Their crab Rangoon was definitely not it, I would not order it at all, it was a lot of cream cheese with little green onion lol it was gross. Very good restaurant serving Thai cuisine. We ordered for two dine-in on a rainy Friday evening. My gf is vegan while I am not, so we ordered dishes that both of us could enjoy. We decided on Seafood Fried Rice that included prawns, scallops, and veggies, Pad See Ew with fried tofu, prawns & veggies, and then Yellow Curry with fried tofu. All of the entrées were delicious and prepared with a mild spice level. My favorite of the three was the Yellow Curry paired with the steamed rice. Excellent food and service! Our waiter was very friendly and had recommendations for us. Talkative and super kind! The Thai tea was rich and sweet, just the way we like it. Shaking beef was well seasoned and came with a super tasty dipping sauce. Seafood fried rice was loaded with seafood and flavor. I doubt that the employees there have EVER been trained in service. A server came to refill my water, spilled a BUNCH of water on the table, on the floor and some on me then just walked away as I was brushing off the water from my pants. Food - I'll give them this much, the satay skewers had flavor. My specific dish, however, Curry Fried Rice, was DRY as a desert. I asked for it with chicken and while it did have chicken it had shrimp too, which I am allergic to (not 911 allergic but enough that it started to bother me). After eating maybe 10% of my dish, I pushed the plate to the middle of the table; I was DONE. Back to the lack of service; the staff never once came over to check-in or see if the meal was good, until they were ready to clean up. Ambiance, well if you like lots of open space and fish tanks, I guess this is your place. It's not mine. I give it 4.5 stars, it's not perfect but it's one of the best I've found around. They definitely do things a little differently than other Thai foods I've eaten at. I pad See Ew is one dish I base my options off, theirs is a little different and I wish it had more broccoli in it. We had dinner here a few weeks ago and enjoyed the many gf options this place offers. We came in on a weeknight around 7 and asked to be seated in their bar and lounge area. The restaurant is beautiful with an array of Thai inspired art and decorations and literary more plants than a garden center. I don't know how they get their beautiful greenery to grow like they do, I'm over here just trying to keep a succulent alive. Our server came up right away and reviewed what options were gluten free safe. My sister had the jungle noodles and I had the green curry with chicken. Our meals came out quickly and the food was flavorful, fresh, and delicious. It was also incredibly filling and we had a lot of extra that heated up great the next day. Price was very reasonable, especially for how much food you get here. We will definitely be back and looking forward to trying some of the other gf choices on their menu. read more

** VEGETARIAN REVIEW ** We've been fans of Thai Garden for quite some time now. Having lived in L.A. and eaten at Thai Town many times, we have a lot of experience! Thai Garden is one of the top spots we've ever tried. We can't speak to the meat dishes, but all the veggie ones are top-notch. Anything with tofu is highly recommended -- it's always meaty and tasty and they give generous amounts. We enjoy the mushroom/bok choy with garlic sauce, the eggplant and tofu, and the mango salad with tofu. Dishes are flavorful -- but they tend to be a little conservative with the spice, so if you like an intense Thai experience, ask them to make it extra hot!! Get some of those little pickled chilis on the side, they are mind-blowing. As far as the service goes, these folks are REALLY nice. Especially the tattooed vegetarian gal! We've never had a problem with any of our orders. When we'd dine in person pre-COVID, every server was spot-on. Our kiddo really loves the fish tank (our family refers to this place as "The Fish Cafe"). Thai Garden is open for in-person dining (we get take out). The place is pretty spacious, so most folks would probably feel safe dining here. PLEASE NOTE, we had some troubles getting through on the phone and were afraid they shut down... but we went by and sure enough, they are going strong. They acknowledged that they were having some phone issues and are working on it. I really don't get these negative reviews here. Buncha haters, I guess. The DoorDash app said it would keep us apprised of the progress on our order; after longer than an hour, we just headed to the restaurant to cancel the order. We even tried calling the restaurant, but no one answered and the voice mailbox was full. We were almost to the restaurant and the app said our order would be ready for pickup in 20 more minutes. We walked into the restaurant and the order was ready - 20 minutes before the app said it would be. The ginger beef dish I ordered was good; the scallops that my husband ordered had a weird taste, and the sauce was actually a soup. The crab rangoon was good.
