So my hubs mentioned he'd been craving Thai food, so I ordered takeout from Pattaya Thai. They're close by, we've always enjoyed the food, and we've had great experiences both dining in and ordering from them over the years. Since the whole family was working late, I decided to splurge a little for an early Father's Day treat. While placing the order, I remember thinking, "Man, we NEVER spend over $100 on takeout." Usually if we're splurging, we go somewhere that gives you a lot more food for the money. I was genuinely excited because I ordered many of the same things we've enjoyed when dining in. But wow. And not in a good way. The portion sizes were shocking. The egg rolls looked more like lumpia. Two tiny ones cut in half for $10? The fresh spring rolls? One roll cut in half for $10. And its 97% cabbage. The larb salad that cost nearly $20 wasn't even enough for one full serving. It came with what was basically a tiny sliver of lettuce, maybe an inch thick if I'm being generous, and what looked like about a half cup of protein. For twenty bucks, I honestly thought there had to be part of the order missing. I've been going there for years, both dining in and ordering takeout, and I swear you get at least double these portions when you eat in the restaurant. I understand food costs have gone up. We all know that. But this felt excessive. I chose Pattaya Thai because my husband works incredibly hard and deserved a delicious Father's Day treat. Instead, I spent over $100 on takeout that couldn't comfortably feed a family of three. The Pad Thai was delicious, as always. No complaints there. But for the price versus quantity, I left feeling disappointed. I've always enjoyed Pattaya Thai, which is why this was so surprising. If you're considering takeout, you may want to think twice and make sure you're comfortable with the portions being served for what you're paying. Our go-to Thai spot in Lacey. We've been coming here for years and it never disappoints. I always get the Pad See Ew (spice 1.5) and my partner sticks with the Pad Thai (spice 3-4, depends is we dine in or take out). Why does this place only have 3 and a half stars? Pattaya is AWESOME. I came in here with a group of ten and from the moment we came in for lunch, the service was friendly, professional, and excellent. When we were served our drinks, the table gasped in delight at the Thai Iced Teas and Coffees. And the food came out as promptly as could be possible, given that we offered ten different entrees. I had the chicken pad see ew which is among the best I've had in the area. The noodles were perfectly sweet and salty and the chicken was tender. I like that the restaurant had music playing in the background that was not super loud, which I notice happens often at Thai restaurants that I go to...at least in Los Angeles, haha! But, I wish that the staff was more enthusiastic about the menu to let us know what are popular orders, what their favorite dishes are, etc because they just provided the menu book and left us be. Really enjoyed dinner on a Sunday evening. Don't get discouraged if you see a line. There were a lot of people picking up takeout. Once we got to the host we were seated right away. The restaurant was half full. Our server couldn't speak english well, but we all got exactly what we ordered. The Hi-Lo wontons were good. Different than regular crab Rangoon with lots of fillings. My friend and I really enjoyed the Khao Soi with chicken. My husband got the Garlic semang and he liked it. Another friend got the peanut pressure instead of his regular pad thai and liked it. We came here due to my partner's recommendation and prior positive experience. I was wary due to reviews of new ownership and subsequent changes. When we arrived for lunch the place was empty except only one table occupied. We were seated quickly and servers were attentive. However the restaurant was freezing with their air conditioning! Food was lackluster. The fried tofu was drenched in sauce. The warnings for "more spicy than the average Thai restaurant" were inaccurate and I didn't think my 2/5 was spicy enough. My pad thai was seasoned with some sort of chili sauce instead of actual chilies so it made the whole dish red and the noodles sticky. The pad se ew noodles were undercooked and chewy. Consistently good food, though I only order Pad Thai. It's the service that runs hot and cold. I actually prefer their sister location, Esan Zap. To be safe, I've devolved to only ordering a 'Level 2' heat as I've been burned before, pun intended! First time was great! We both had the beef pad se ew. Mine was level 2 spice and it was a bit too spicy for me lol. Flavors and all was good though. Second time was okay. I got the drunken noodles and they were too greasy, not much flavor spice level 1 was perfect. I was left unsatisfied.. However--the mango sticky rice made it up!! It was delicious and the sweetness was perfect. Their Thai teas are amazing. Service was excellent both times. Setting is perfect for date nights. Ambiance is great. On our way back from Long Beach we stopped at this place for a lovely dinner. Ambience- spacious, clean and beautiful decors. Service was fantastic. Host was friendly and welcoming. Coming to the food- we ordered egg roll and crispy tofu which was super delicious loved the crisp. Pineapple fried had a different flavor I would not recommend if you don't like the buttery taste in your Thai food. Thai fried was delicious. Hot stuff stir fry along with tofu was so flavorful. Went for dinner with 4 of my friends .. while 4 of us got meals , one of us had to wait for starters and for main course . Food was mediocre .. but pricey !! 1 spring roll was $9.95.. don't get me wrong it looked nice but not much taste (missing Thai basil and mint ) and the peanut sauce was a thick blob .. the Thai tea ($5.75) I had was extrem sweet I had to water it down ... and the Peanut Pleasure with chicken ($17.95) was ok . So calculating all this together it came to $ 33.65 plus tax ... so I thought ... But the restaurant added an automatic 20% gratuity $6.73 on top so my bill came to $43.54 for 1 person !!! This is extortion .. I get it if they had a great service or a party at 8 but starting with a party of 5 ?? For paper napkins , a fork and some free water , service was a young inexperienced girl with not much enthusiasm.. when I asked her if she gets the 20% at least she said it will be split with the kitchen. When we walked out , nobody from personnel was seen, thanked us or wished us a good bye .. the restaurant at that point was empty . Fazit : I want to decide myself how much I pay for service .. with an automatic gratuity there will be no effort from staff to give great service .. if you go to this restaurant than be prepared for higher prices for food you can get more affordable and greater service !!! I really very much liked the pad Thai and the other dish with wide noodles prawns and broccoli I got here, but the peanuts on the pad Thai that came as a garnish--an important part of the overall flavor-- are old and RANCID! Ugh! They would get 4 stars for this dish if they had been fresh, but that absolutely ruined the flavor of the dish. (I should have first sampled them before sprinkling them all over an otherwise very delicious dish. But I *should* expect they would be fresh!) It actually pains me to leave a negative review for this place because I've been going here since around 2011. I haven't been for a while, so I was really excited to order takeout tonight. My husband went and picked up our order, brought it home, and when I say I was absolutely stunned at how small the portions were for what we paid, well I was left speechless and feeling completely shocked. I understand businesses need to make adjustments due to inflation, but there really isn't a valid excuse for how small each dish was (besides the fried rice which had hardly any chicken in it). It's extra frustrating because this should have been enough to feed 2 adults and 2 children ($150 tab), but my husband and I had to eat extra light to make it stretch for the kids. The quality of food was hit and miss. The pad se ew lacked flavor, and the fresh rolls were so loose they'd start to fall apart when picking them up (right away). The tom ka soup was good. The green curry was too spicy for me to eat even though I ordered no spice. We'll be sticking with Red Lantern or Lemongrass where portions are fair and quality is excellent. She went on to warn again that they make dishes VERY spicy so I asked if I order it 3 , could they bring me something on the side to spice it up if it wasnt spicy enough for me. She said she could bring me their 'spice rack' so I reluctantly went with 3 . She wasnt done....she went on to warn me that it will still be VERY spicy and said I would not be allowed to return the meal if it came out too spicy. I assured her I would be fine...she appeared frustrated and left to put in our order. My dish arrived incredibly mild in flavor and no spice on the side. I really loved this restaurant and their dishes. They had a location out in Yelm with the same owners, I believe. We would go there weekly. Tonight our food was way overly salted. We got the pad thai and jade curry. Curry has so many complex yummy flavors you want to be able to taste. Unfortunately the salt overpowered all of the flavors. I could go for 1/2 or even 1/4 of the salt. Everything else was great. Well proportioned ingredients, generous amounts of chicken, and veggies cooked nicely. Boyfriend loved the pad thai. We started off at Lemongrass and after waiting the longest time for someone to take our order, we gave up and walked out. So, still wanting Thai food, we ended up at Lime Leaf and we're so glad we did. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, so we we were seated quickly by the friendly server. Our waiter checked in with us often and was really invested in making sure we were loving what we ate. The Pad See Ew was solid. I've had better, but theirs made me content. Also tried the Larb and the Tom Kha Gai soup and it was a little acidy but we still liked it. We were stuffed with the few items we got to the point we couldn't get desserts, even though we already had our eye on a particular sweet. We'll have to get it next time. As for the dining room, there are plenty of seats and the place has a modern feel to it. It must be great in the summer because they have just as many tables outside as inside, so we'll definitely try it again in the summer so we can take our dogs with us. read more

One demerit for glass being somewhat small in volume, albeit nicely elegant, and mostly filled with ice, so I was wishing I had more actual tea. Drunken noodles with chicken was tasty, but not a flavor bomb. Seemed rather neutral in taste to me, but it was my first time with the dish so that may just be the nature of it. Dining partner's dish was bright, colorful, and looked tasty. (Sorry, didn't catch its name.) Due to hiccup in the kitchen, my dish arrived at zero spicy level instead of level 2 as ordered. Our friendly and super conscientious server hurriedly, and apologetically, brought a spice condiment rack so I could add sambal, chili dust, or other additions to raise the spiciness to my liking. He was exceptionally good about keeping us on his radar & periodically checking to insure there was nothing we wanted or needed for our meal. Great service! Clean, bright, pleasant decor & quiet uncrowded dining area made for excellent extended conversation environment. An amazing Thai restaurant in Lacey. Stopped by for lunch with a big group and was surprised how big of a seating area they have. We started with some appetizers, egg roll, chicken satay, fried tofu and quickly moved to our main course - panang curry with seafood, pineapple fried rice, spicy fried rice (extremely spicy), pad thai. All our food was delicious. The fried tofu was the only okish dish rest all tasted really good. Beware of the spice levels here. Spice level 2 is for those who enjoy spicy food once in a while, spice level 3 is for folks who enjoy spicy food frequently and spice level 4 is insanely spicy not for the weak hearted. I ordered the spicy fried rice with spice level 4 and it was really spicy though very flavorful. Also the difference between spice level 3 & 4 is ALOT. So be careful! Service was great, portions are huge and food did come out fast (it was non-peak weekday lunch hours). I had the Chicken Shrimp Pad Thai spicy 2. One I didn't read the sign next to the table. I recommend you read the sign before ordering if you can't hard spicy food. Used to love this place. Then over the years they put less meat into every meal. Most recent time we ordered the lady over the phone seemed like she couldn't be bothered to do her job and take orders over the phone and she got the order wrong. Instead of chicken we got beef, instead of 3 star spice we got 1. The fried rice was just bad over seasoned to a point of almost being inedible.
