We just moved to Tenino in July of last year from Tacoma. I was a door dash queen when it came to ordering pad thai before we moved. Now it's hard to find a good Thai place, and we're not sure if anyone would deliver out to our new house. We drive by The Lemongrass almost every day but just now stopped to eat there. We parked in the back, walked in and saw several full tables (a good sign) and was seated in a booth. The server was friendly, all our food got out in under 15-20 minutes. We have the pork spring rolls, chicken pad thai, yellow curry friend rice, and I forgot what my fiancé ordered. It was all great! We both said we're coming back here for sure. read more

We love the food here but the heat consistency is never accurate. We always order a 2, sometimes it is perfect and a few times, like today the 2 melted my face off! We love the egg rolls, Thai chicken salad, Swimming angels and their Almond chicken. The little sister and I had lunch here yesterday and enjoyed a delicious spread of gluten-free Thai dishes! We popped in around lunchtime and were able to get a comfy table. They had a pretty decent red/ white/prosecco wine selection compared to most small restaurants; since we were celebrating, we indulged. The red blend was quite nice. The little sister enjoyed the mini bottle of proseco they had available. The restaurant is one little dining area with a small, intimate, cozy atmosphere. The server was very helpful and knowledgeable about gf. Most of the items we wanted were available gluten-free. We enjoyed the chicken satay with gf peanut sauce, beef pad Thai, pad see ew with tofu, and chicken tom yum talay soup. Everything was fresh, favorable, and plentiful. I visited this location 6 years ago and wasn't too impressed. This time, I was surprised. I had the Honey Walnut Prawns and an order of Chicken Egg Rolls (sorry I forgot to snap a pic). The prawns were really good. I enjoyed every thing on that plate. I addition to the prawns there was a bed of green and purple cabbage and a creamy coconut sauce. So good! The egg rolls were ok but not what I was used to. My colleagues all enjoyed their food. They ordered apple curry, Singapore Noodles, Pad Thai, and combination fried rice. Recently I was disappointed in the almond chicken and chicken pad Thai. It was takeout but that really shouldn't make a difference. The almond chicken was a nicely battered crispy filet of chicken breast. That's where the meal peaked. Chunks of cabbage, white rice, and sauce in a separate container ruined everything about the chicken. It reminded me of a bad food truck experience. The pad Thai didn't live up to expectations either. I've had great pad Thai from Thai Garden by the mall in Olympia. I'm never disappointed there. Lemon Grass pad Thai had thick noodles, very little chicken, and the sauce was sticky dry and not good flavor. It also came with mostly uncooked thick cuts of carrots and cabbage. I've been to the Lemon Grass in Lacey years ago and it was good. I recently moved to Tumwater and decided to give this location a try. I would never go back. read more

Prices are much higher than they were a year ago, and portions are smaller. So sad to see them close their downtown Olympia location, but understand given the trouble in that part of town at night. We moved to Olympia recently from San Jose and I was fairly nervous about leaving our metropolis of good Asian food, but this place made me rethink a lot of my old faithful Thai restaurants down south! My cousin recommended Lemongrass to us. She notoriously only eats Pad Thai. This fact has its pros and cons. It means her recommendations are not very well rounded, but it ask means that she has methodically, and categorically, mapped out every Pad Thai dish in the PNW. We ordered Mongolian beef, Thai chicken salad and lemongrass chicken. They were tough choices! There were a lot of very tempting items on the menu. Luckily though, we assume we can come back and will enjoy everything g else just as much. The portions were generous- we are both blessed with strong appetites- and we still had leftovers to bring home afterwards. The dishes were packed full of fresh veggies. The flavors were classic Thai but not in a basic canned sauce way. Overall we were so happy with our meal and are very excited for our next dinner at Lemongrass Cafe! read more

Dear Lemongrass-please open fir indoor seating. We waited to takeout for the day after Mothers Day (closed on Sunday), and were SO DISAPPOINTED in our meal. We ordered chicken Chow Mein, Honey Walnut Prawns, Singapore Noodles, Chicken Satay Skewers, and Spring Rolls. The only thing that had flavor and tasted fresh were the Spring Rolls! Everything else tasted blah and like it had been sitting in a covered pot all day. Blech! Our order WAS ready in 20 minutes- perhaps why.... The chicken Satay was pink and not entirely cooked, and both noodle dishes were mushy, including the veggies. This poor quality is atypical for LemonGrass... but I've never ordered takeout... I sure hope this isn't the norm for their take out! A 2 star... is just for being open. LG: you can do better! read more

My husband and I had lunch at the Lemongrass Restaurant yesterday. It was our first time to eat there. The restaurant didn't offer a lunch menu, so we ordered two entrees and agreed to pay extra for brown rice. We both ordered a garden vegetable entree with tofu--mine with lemongrass and my husband's with cashews. We ordered unsweetened iced tea to drink. Our waiter was friendly, efficient and our food arrived promptly. However, we soon discovered that our meals were identical with the exception of the cashews in my husband's entree. We tasted each other's entrees and there was no difference other than the cashews. The food was very good and we enjoyed it, but when our bill arrived, we were just blown away that we were charged $4 a glass for unsweetened iced tea! We had noted that the entrees prices were higher than the usual fare at other Thai restaurants. We should have checked the price of the iced tea before ordering. We liked the food enough to go back again and we understand that prices have increased for everything, but there is really no excuse to pad the prices of iced tea which doesn't cost much to make. read more

I've had enough, I won't be going back here. The food isn't that good to begin with, just convenient. Every time I place an order for pick up, they forget ONE item every single damn time! Why??? So frustrating! Tonight it was the SAUCE for my almond chicken! What I got was a disgusting dry over cooked slab of chicken and NO sauce. How the heck is anyone supposed to choke that down?! I used to love The Lemongrass when it was downtown. I always got The Lemongrass Chicken. Last night, I realized you just can't go back in time. Sadly, this place has seen better days, and I feel bad saying that given the times. On balance, I did visit this location a couple of years ago and it was similarity disappointing. The Lemongrass Chicken itself is still pretty good but admittedly I think it's overpriced at $16.50. I live in Portland and even to me that's steep! It's a bit bizzare in presentation - strips of curly chicken, and nothing else save a splash of bagged coleslaw mix on the side. I swear it used to come with broccoli, so I got a side of steamed vegetables to make myself feel better (for 7.50 extra!). The staff were so pleasant but sadly the dining room was mostly empty of customers. Their business right now seems to be doing well for takeout. I find it strange how early they close, even on a Saturday night. Not sure I'll come back, maybe more for nostalgic reasons than anything. read more

Gave this place a 2 star instead of 1 because this was the first place that I really enjoyed the Pad Tai. We went as a group with our friends, who also had 2 kids. The hostess was not very friendly, as I felt a bit shrugged off per-say. She wasn't friendly, nor did she smile. Anyway, after a 10 minute wait, we sat down and a waiter came to take our order. 20-30 minutes after, we got our food, I kind of wished we all got it at the same time but bits and pieces came out one at a time. I thought the wait was long, but I might have been hungry lol. Anyway, I was telling our group that I really liked the pad tai. It was too spicy and it was edible. We all got our food, and no one complained about the taste. Although, our friend was nearly done with his plate and he spots a piece of PLASTIC in his plate!! It looked like the cord plastic piece that you wrap around vegetables. How horrible! We showed it to our waiter, and received no apologies, he simply took the plate and asked if he wanted something else, he said no. Went here with coworkers on a Friday afternoon and it satisfied my pad thai craving. I think there are other places nearby which are the same quality for a lesser price, but still, for a nicer sit-down dining experience, this was great. And corn. That's something I haven't seen in fried rice before. He also wasn't thrilled. I think the kicker for me is there are no lunch specials.
