A few months ago i was visited Thai Hot Pot Heaven. It was a bit different from what I expected a "hot pot" experience to be. Instead of built-in hot pot stations, they bring a portable pot to the table and use gas flame to heat it. The food was decent and overall okay, but it didn't feel very "wow" or exceptional for me. The service, however, was very good -- the staff were friendly and attentive. It's not exactly what I imagined, but I still appreciate the experience and hope the business continues to grow and do well. I took my grandkids here for our second visit. Our first visit was so fun, so we decided to do it again. This time things were a little off. We had 3 people doing hot pot, and 1 person ordering off the menu. This seemed to be a source of confusion. At one point I went up to their sauce bar to see what sauces they had, so I could let my grandkids know. The waitress came over and stated very strongly "those are for hot pot only!" (I was eating off the menu) That was jarring. The first visit we were treated in such a friendly manner! Hot pot is a fairly expensive meal ($35.99 per person), and it's an experience as well as a meal, so ambience and interaction with the staff is part of it. Finally, I had to use the restroom and I use a power chair. It was a huge struggle to get to the bathroom, due to random folding chairs and equipment lining the walls. The bathroom door is extremely narrow, so it took a lot of finagling just to enter the door. Then the toilet is LOW, like a child's toilet! It was pretty daunting. Finally it was time to pay the bill. Imagine my surprise to be charged a $6 surcharge JUST TO USE MY CARD! When I questioned this, they stated it is just built into the computer pay service they use. I came here ready to clench my gut for the rest of the night as Thai food-from experience, burns when it exits. This wasn't the case at all! We came here to celebrate the holidays with their AYCE hotpot. It comes in 3 rounds, there was epic confusion on what number to put next to each item. It indicates servings - so if you want more put a higher number. Although be warned the good cuts of meat are limited to 2 servings per round. There are different tiers to the AYCE hotpot and for some reason this info isn't posted on here so I took photos of the menu! Yay! $30 for lunch classic tier AYCE $50 for dinner high tier AYCE The little sauce station is nice but a bit of a mess. They serve complimentary half cut spring rolls and shaved papaya salad at the sauce station. Expect to pay around $50 ish per person for the higher tier of meats at dinner. I say it's definitely worth it for the beef alone and seafood if that's what you fancy. Service is pretty fast and they are super attentive! I just wish the tables were a bit more spaced as we did bump into other people, or had people mid booty cheek cutting it close to our table edge. read more

I saw this place from the instagram account pdxfoodfinds, and as a hotpot lover I needed to try it. We chose the tom yum and Japanese shoyu broth bases. The tom yum was slightly more watery compared to the normal tom yum I eat as a main dish, but since it was for hotpot I didn't mind. The shoyu was good, it was savory, umami, and a little bit sweet, perfect for enoki mushrooms and veggies. The chicken and beef were fresh too. I cooked them in the tom yum and they turned out so tender. As the video said, they did have a smaller section of dipping sauces compared to Chinese hotpot, but that worked for me as long as I got some soy sauce and chili sauce. I had a few experiences with mu kratha in Koh Chang ten years ago, and it was super fun. The food and the flavors here kind of brought back those memories. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a bit of soupy late night food and wants some comfort food, especially on a cold, rainy night. read more

This establishment does traditional Thai food or you can do Hotpot (AYCE), which was what we ordered. They have a mini sauce bar with plenty of options. Solid Thai food. It's probably best to go for the hot pot dining option, as that's not very common at Thai places in Portland. The a la carte menu offers the most classic dishes, which I've always found to be good - not great, but reliable. The place doesn't really have an atmosphere at all. The décor is pretty "sad". I went here with a small group and it was awesome. The produce was fresh and all the meats were wonderful. We got the prime, all you can eat option which enabled us to choose from anything on the menu. The highlights were the ribeye and the brisket, though everything was very good. The sauce bar sets this place apart - make sure to take advantage! The broths were fantastic. We got the shoyu and the mala; they were both very tasty but the mala was next level good with a nice subtle heat afterward. The service was excellent; it was pretty empty when we first arrived but was absolutely slammed by the time we left, however everyone was very attentive the entire time. I like how they bring water jugs for the entire table. The staff is also very good at explaining all of the different options and choices. Stopped in for lunch on a rainy day around 12:30 pm and it was not busy. We came for the hot pot so we did the all you can eat and we were pleasantly surprised! The sauce bar was nice with the salad rolls and papaya salad available too. We stuck with water but they've got a nice selection of specialty drinks. For two people, we maxed out our first round getting items from all categories. Our favorites were the egg noodles and mushroom variety. The beef and lamb were good. We never made it to round two but now that we know what to expect, we're better prepared for next time! Like I don't need the egg fried rice next time. An excellent Thai hot pot experience. Come early because it gets busy quick! The space is small but we were lucky enough to grab a table for an early dinner. There's an assortment of veggies, apps, salads, and noodles to choose from as well as meats. The service was impeccable and they made sure we're were well taken care of. Try this new hot pot location and was very impressed overall. The inside seating is moderate and it wasn't busy when we went. We got the prime all you can eat and did the mala and house clear broth. The mala was amazing and when they refilled our broth, even added more spices to recharge the flavor! We got all the prime cuts and it was very tender and delicious with the broth. The sauce bar is also very customizable and they have all the utensils and bowls out so you can grab it instead of waiting. That decor and music really puts you in the mood. The only thing I would say is there was only a few workers so getting refills and flagging down for orders took a while so we had to wait quite a bit after our first wave to order and get our second wave. We came for the premium AYCE and it was such a fun experience! The spread of sauces is awesome and they were all really tasty. They had a really good selection of cooked appetizers and sides as well but we tried not to indulge too much in that so we could focus on hot pot! However, the chive cakes were tasty and the pad Thai was actually quite good. The pad Thai was a bit of a filling portion though. The jumbo fresh water shrimp were maybe the biggest I've seen at a restaurant in Portland, but super tasty!! They barely even fit in the pot! Surprisingly the bok choy and the enoki mushrooms were also on the premium menu. I wish there had been more seafood, even if it was on the premium menu, I do love having fish in hot pot. However, everything was really tasty and they even had a shave ice machine for you to make your own for dessert! I called in advanced asking about all you can eat hot pot. I said, "this is for one person eating lunch today". They said, "ok, price is $29-39 depending on what meat I want to eat with my hot pot". I live 5 hours away from Portland. I am here visiting and I drove 30 minutes across town and paid $5 in parking. After waiting at my table for 10 minutes without being given a menu, I was told all you can eat is for 2 or more people only. I told them I called in advanced and they told me I could eat here. The lady said it is so food is not wasted. I told her I called in advanced and was given the wrong information from her. For one person to eat here it is A La Carte, which means I have to pay even more money because I didn't bring another person with me. The picture I included in my review shows the owner telling another angry customer they make exceptions for All You Can Eat for tourists. I was not given any exception! We came here on a Friday for lunch around noon in December and we had the place all to ourselves! More people came later as we were leaving and the place really filled out. The server was so patient with us and explained how everything worked and we decided to go with the AYCE option since it made the most sense for bang for your buck. You mark down what you want for each round and I would totally recommend the AYCE option if you have a healthy appetite or going with a group of 2 or more. What I appreciated most was that the clear labeling of everything for food allergies, especially great for glute-free friend I was dining with! I loved that the sauce bar had special Thai condiments in addition to some of the hot pot sauce based I'm used to. The egg roll and pot stickers were golden and crispy - my toddler's favorite. We loved the sticky rice pouch, that was so fun to eat from. Meat options and veggies sides are pretty common for hot pot but I was especially excited about the Tom yum broth, which had the perfect balance of tangy and savory. ** One of the worst experiences I've ever had, $104 lost ** Don't know if we caught them on another bad night or something since I was warned by a friend earlier in the week that service is slow, but we really wanted to try Thai style broths. It was not worth it. Almost every sauce at the station was empty and there were no signs showing recommend mixes, we didn't receive a water refill or be asked if we're ordering round 2 for over an hour (we did the Prime version) and it got to the point the broth was almost empty and burning up the sides of the pot. We also didn't receive items we marked on the menu such as sticky rice or the fish balls with roe. After sitting there without service for over an hour, we had to physically get up just to ask for the menu to the 2nd round. Ultimately the broth had been boiling with little bits of meat for so long it didn't taste good anymore, when we asked for new broths it became a debate on why we'd want new broths and we were turned off completely. We decided to hand our menu back and forgo the all you can eat rounds we paid for resulting in $104 for 1 round of food that lasted us 30 minutes. (Still not sure what the extra $4 on our bill was since we didn't get drinks) We watched another couple next to us wait almost the entire time it took us to eat to be able to get their check since they thought someone would come over and check on them but instead had to also physically walk up to the counter to get any attention and be able to pay. Overall, the meats and veggies were good quality, the broths were flavorful, but the service experience and lack of sauces really left a lot to be desired and I cannot recommend this place. read more

Absolutely recommend Thai Hot Pot Heaven! We got the all you can eat hot pot and couldn't recommend it enough. We love hot pot and this is definitely the best hot pot in Portland. They have an assortment of traditional Thai sauces, you get salad rolls and som tum (papaya salad) as part of the ayce. All the meats and veggies are fresh and the portions are generous! I can honestly say this is the only place I plan on getting hot pot in Portland. They also have a regular Thai food menu that I am looking forward to trying! We even had to pay expensive just to use the gas stove style creepy hot pot.The broth tasted really bad, the shrimp smelled off, and the tablecloths looked dirty and nasty. The owner was rude the whole time, and they charged us 30% for a tiny amount of leftover food which felt ridiculous.One of the servers even whispered to us that the owner cuts their tips, which honestly explains why the staff seemed unhappy. Currently, the offering is limited during their soft opening til Mar 29, but during this soft opening, they have an offer out for 10% off on the full meal or a free mango rice dessert. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and excited to provide good authentic Thai food. While I was there, they were staging pictures of their future offerings such as their hot pot, and it looks like they will be offering a lot of topping options. I ordered the Thai Stewed beef noodle soup and can attest that we are in for a treat, as the soup was very flavorful and the beef was perfectly tender. Some groups of two definitely need a 4 seater if you get hot pot esp because of the space needed. The interior is quaint but does have a good amount of space. You order from your table then there's a sauce bar where you can make up your little dipping sauces for your hot pot! We went with the thai fries with tom yum seasoning and decided to go the hot pot route as well -- kept it vegetarian for my leaf eating self with the mushroom broth. They have a huge variety of items including a plethora of vegetables, tofu, noodles, etc. There's a good variety of meat and seafood if you're an omnivore too! The veggie broth was good and our sauces from the sauce bar helped increase the flavor just a bit more. I will say the fries were super addictive with tangy savory seasoning and the hot pot itself was the perfect thing for a rainy day. My DIL and I had the pork fried rice (flavorful on its own...no need for soy sauce) and a hot pot with two different broths, marinated steak.and chicken, pork belly, and steak. Hell yes. But...this is definitely Heaven. The hot pot is delicious, but the owners are so, so sweet. They were incredibly engaging and gracious - a husband and wife and fam churning out non-stop deliciousness. Please come in NOW before they blow up. They came from Colorado and opened about 4 months ago. I truly wish them and their family the ultimate success. You can just tell this is what they're made to do. They had the largest prawns I've ever seen, but the meat was incredible. The broths were divine - shout out to the mala and shoyu broths, but all were phenomenal.
