    Custard Bun
    Thalita K.

I stopped here after a busy Saturday exploring Oregon and it was the best end to my night. I arrived around 9:35pm. The restaurant is big and it still seemed very busy. We put ourselves in the waitlist, explored outside and received our food around 9:56pm. The ambiance was dark, cozy but lively with so many people. Customer service was good. We ordered the Beef Chow Fun and the custard buns. I asked for their chili on the side and it was soooo good. Both dishes were 10/10, I cannot wait to come back here. Great portion sizes to share as well. My only regret is not ordering another two plates or even bringing more custard buns home! I guess it's a plus, because it gives me another reason to come back! Definitely cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

Large restaurant with lots of seating. Everything we had we enjoyed. Soup dumplings, Chinese broccoli, scallion pancakes, and spring rolls were all authentic and delicious. Server was friendly and attentive.

This was really a delicious place. We started with a cucumber roll. It was very refreshing and beautiful on the plate. We then got the chili wontons that were delicious and well seasoned. We also got the house fried pork ribs. They were OK not super tender spiced all right but not great. We also got the fried wonton and they were OK. The menu is quite extensive and I definitely believe that we can get many things next time we come staff are excellent. This restaurant is very clean and large.

Wow! 5/5 The food was incredible...definitely as good as Din Tai Fung and Dough Zone. The XLB, spicy wontons were perfectly formed, juicy and flavorful. The special dry fried spare ribs were big and flavorful. The lychee cocktail and pear martini were a fun addition and worth the cost. 4/5 service. We came at 11 PM and the waiters were not attentive and we had a long wait to get seated despite empty tables. 3/5 sketchy neighborhood. It's not Xin Ding's fault but this neighborhood at night makes you second guess leaving your car on the street. On the plus side it's free parking at late night!

    Shrimp shu mai

I came here on a weekend evening, and it was decently busy but there was no wait time to get a table and sit down. The service was pretty good, but the food could have been better. The pork xiao long baos were alright at first, and I liked how thin the wrappers were. The top swirl felt extra thick and was chewy, so I didn't enjoy eating that part. The flavor wasn't bad at first, but the more I ate, the more I realized the soup could have used more seasoning. The shrimp shu mai was pretty bad. I couldn't taste any shrimp flavor and could only feel little crunchy bits I was chewing on. There was minimal flavor in them, and even though I hardly ever eat my food with soy sauce and vinegar, I needed to dip the shrimp shu mai in the soy sauce and vinegar to make it palatable enough to eat. I don't think I'll return here. The only reason why this review is two stars is because of the service and the atmosphere.

Nothing negative to say about Xin Ding. Tasty food, really nice space, good service. We'll bookmark this place for future visits to Portland.

Huge restaurant, extremely busy serving delicious meals to share! Food was very good! Seasoned well, the dried pot was even spicy and huge portions to share. Dimly lit place but clean and welcoming. Perfect place for wholesome asian food, family-style

On the way back from going to see the first cherry blossoms of the year, we decided to stop by this restaurant. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were very kind, table and plates are clean. We ordered four dishes, and everything was served steamy hot and was absolutely delicious. There were also other items on the menu that we'd like to try, so I'm sure we'll be coming back again. The price was a little on the pricey side, perhaps? But it was much much better than "Din Tai Fung" by far. It's worth it! The only negative thing is that the restroom in this restaurant was unusually dirty. If they could improve just that, it would be a perfect 5!

We ordered delivery so I cannot speak to the cleanliness or friendliness of the restaurant and staff. Our food was delivered on time. We ordered the chicken broccoli, pork fried rice, beef chow fun and shrimp dumplings. Everything was packaged well. The shrimp dumpling and chicken broccoli were the highlights with the fried rice a close second. The beef chow fun lacked taste even though the beef was very tender. I'd definitely like to try more of the dumpling options on our next visit.

    full order xiao long bao
    Quentin T.

Solid Xiao Long Bao, not exceptional but solid. I found the broth to be fairly bland but the dumpling itself had a good bounce & chew. Came in here ready to do some damage after a long morning walking around Portland & crossing the river twice. After taking down a Tsingtao & a full order of xiao long bao I opted to forgo another menu item & try out a different dumpling spot for pan fried dumplings. If i had more time in the city i would have sampled another item here but had to spread the love. Service was good here & seating was ample.

My friend really likes this place and compares it to places like DTF and she claims that this place is better in quality, price and taste! We came here on a Sunday evening and it was pretty busy but we somehow managed to grab a table at the bar, and eat quickly before my flight! The Sichuan dishes here are really good, I loved the crispy chicken and fish we got and the pork XLB was so so good. I wish they had a chicken XLB or spicy veggie/chicken wontons but with what they had they definitely knocked it out of the park. Great place!

My cousin inquired about an item, she did not respond and looked at her funny. I order item my cousin wanted. Staff just mumbled and put dim sum on table. It's like they just want to unload their cart. She left and another staff came by. Before she starts. I said I cannot eat without utensils, plates, napkins and what about tea? She runs to get these items. I inquired about the tea, what is it? She goes it's red tea it's the only one they serve. By the time we finished, we asked to tally the bill. On staff member says go to the front and pay bill and get containers. I went up to get containers no one in front. Everyone busy setting up for 3PM. I flagged someone. She goes take whatever you need. There were stacked containers and cartons. Family went to pay bill and waited 10 minutes for someone to come to counter. Service is poor here. Minimal the very least. No one checks to see if you want anything. Would I come back. Probably not. As for the food, yes it's dim sum but nothing to rave about. The Shu Mai do not have shrimp. The bean curd wrapped in meat and veggies tasted a little off.

The fried rice's flavor was pretty muted..I prefer a little saltiness in my fried rice and it honestly had barely any salt? It tasted like plain rice with a little soy sauce and maybe oil flavor? Just not very aromantic in general.. I disliked the Mandarin Crispy Chicken the most as I had an issue with the breading. It was very thick and each bite felt more breading than chicken..The flavor of the sauce was good but with how thick the breading was, the inside of the chicken had no flavor at all once I bit in.. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items, but I don't think I'll be back to try any others at least for now. It was a Friday night so it was busy but I'll say service was good and we had a minimal wait time!
