Hidden along the seemingly endless suburban mall stretch of U.S. 231 in Dothan is Thai House. If you blink you may miss it among the chain stores and strip malls. If you are a traveler through these parts like I was, or a local seeking a great place for dining, this should be on the top of your list. The décor is tasteful and the colors are pleasing and soothing. It is a very comfortable atmosphere, certainly nothing like a take-out place. You will feel like you are out for an evening of fine dining. The service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The waiter will place the napkin in your lap for you, and our waiter also entertained a kid in another party with some napkin tricks. But really, you should be here for the food. Most of the menu is traditional Thai ingredients and flavors blended with fine dining staples. I had the lemon grass chicken with salad. The chicken was flavored perfectly and cooked perfectly. The salad was made with a great mix of greens, with no iceberg lettuce to be found. The spices were authentic, but not quite as bold as some of the Thai places I have eaten at in Chicago. This was a bit of a surprise, given how flavorful the Southern palate is. They have several vegetarian options on the menu for those who are so inclined. For some road-weary travelers who were tired of chain restaurant after chain restaurant, you definitely need to dine here. And if you live in the area, and you do not yet know about this place, it should be in the middle of your radar so you can try it out at the next opportunity. You will not be disappointed. read more

This place is my favorite place to eat in Dothan. The service is great, and the food is even better. This is true Thai food, I've not had food this good since I was in Thailand. I go here once a week when I am in town. They also have a great lunch special for $10.00. This place was pretty decent for Thai food in Dothan, Alabama. We order the Dragon Chicken as well as another chicken dish that escapes me. The sauces were much to sweet for our liking, but we did request extra spicy which got us close to what we have had in Thailand. Best solution is to ask for red chili peppers and they will bring you the traditional little pots with all the sauces so you can tailor your own. While we have very high standards for Thai food, being as we have traveled A LOT there and other Asian countries it was pretty fair in price in taste for the area. read more

This is an awesome place to go if you want mostly authentic Thai food. I have eaten in Thai restaurants all over the U.S. and even in Thailand many times so I feel I am a decent judge of it. I have passed this place so many times for the pass few years but has never be able to stopped by till today. My husband and I are on an annual anniversary trip and we're looking for something to eat. It wasn't our first thought of choice coz we were gonna go to the other restuarant next door but they were closed for lunch on Saturday and we saw this place was about to open in a few minutes so we decided to wait and it worth the wait! We walked inside and see a nice waiting area that very nice and I don't see many places care about the waiting area that much like here. The staffs are nice and food is fantastic. Decent thai place, but nothing great. I ordered the pad see ew with chicken and vegetables, and it was ok. The chicken was a little dry, but the vegetables were fine. The crab Rangoon was good, but they add curry spice to it, which I'm sure some would love but I don't like Indian curry spices. Maybe the other dishes would be better. This is a wonderful restaurant for those who know Thai food. All of their entrees offer jasmine rice, a true staple. Thai food can range in spice level, and these fine folks allow one to choose the level wanted. I like the highest level in my curry dishes, while my wife is happy with a mid-level spice. Presentation is lovely. Soups of the day have delicate flavors with hints of coconut milk on many occasions. For a real treat, try their "Shrimp Volcano." Absolutely nothing like it available in Dothan. Dress is casual, but the decor is very classy. Service has always been top notch in my numerous visits. read more

This restaurant is wonderful! The atmosphere is lovely. Hot tea was delicious. I ordered spring rolls, which came with a spicy sweet sauce which was so tasty. For my entire, I ordered Pad Thai with chicken and veggies was delicious. The person I was eating with ordered some spicy noodle dish with chicken, cashiers, and veggies. It was also fabulous. I really enjoy the atmosphere at this restaurant. The chicken satay and bbq pork skewers are great! I'm not a fan of the flavor of their Pad Thai or coconut soup (although I really enjoy both at other restaurants in a different town or when I make it myself). The staff is very friendly and attentive at Thai House. Once the gentleman even came to my table and performed magic tricks for my toddler. Speaking of, my kids love it as well! I do wish there were crayons and Thai theme coloring sheets or something to occupy them while they wait for food. OK, I give up, will not be back. This restaurant has a disconnect between it's serving staff and the kitchen. This visit, to make sure previous visit was not a fluke, was not good either. The key for me to good Thai food is that it be served physically hot. I entered restaurant around 11:30 for lunch, only individual in restaurant. Placed order, waited, more people were seated, waited, server was standing at counter talking. Waited, finally both the soup appetizer and meal were served at the same time. Tasted soup, Luke warm, tasted entree and it was Luke warm. Very evident food had been sitting in kitchen for awhile, maybe while server was so busy talking. Told server that soup was usually served first and that my entree would get even colder while I ate the soup. Naturally she was "sorry". Paid approximately $15.00 for a luke warm Thai meal. The food is still good, but service disconnect between servers and kitchen will be a big problem until it is addressed by management, if they care. It is sad to see such a good restaurant fail because of a situation like this. I will not return to this restaurant. read more

I personally work here and I have to say the sesame chicken is my favorite part! The white rice is the best around that I have had. My boyfriend and his grandfather say that the pineapple fried rice with shrimp is amazing the shrimp was perfect and the fried rice was amazing. Also the pineapples were so fresh! Last night we had a bad experience at Thai House. We called in ahead for the private area. We were with two other couples and the restaurant was not full. We were seated elsewhere. One lady ordered a Cosmopolitan and was told that cocktails were not available only beer and wine. Yet there was a full bar. No bartender??? We left and dined elsewhere. In the past we have always enjoyed good drinks and food and were so disappointed. It is a shame a nice restaurant has gone downhill with their service. read more
