This review is for Thai on Wheels outside of Treehouse Brewing. I was so excited to see Thai Place here because I've been craving Drunken Noodles. Then I saw they had crab Rangoon and I shed a happy tear.... Until I got my order. Their sweet and sour sauce is so obviously watered down, it's sad. You only taste the "sauce" if it comes directly in contact with your tongue when you take the bite. The "crab" is almost completely MIA - tiny flecks of pink in some, not all, of the wontons. The drunken noodles are $15 for a small portion. They boast chicken and an egg. There was a small scrambled/fried egg and about 4 small chunks of chicken. I am giving 3 stars because the flavor is absolutely kickin for the noodles. Overall disappointed for the price point. I don't know what this dish is, but it isn't what I know as pad thai. Just okay. We got takeout Pad Thai, hand rolls, Tom Kha Kai, and Pad See Eaw. The main flavor in the Pad Thai was rice vinegar. The "sauce" was clear and I think there's a good chance it was literally just some sugar dissolved in rice vinegar. The Pad See Eaw was okay, could've used more salt. The 3 hand rolls were pretty good and so was the sauce they came with. My girlfriend and I accidentally discovered this restaurant while looking for southern BBQ at BT's in Sturbridge on our way back from Boston. The BBQ place was closed and we decided to give this restaurant a go. What a fantastic menu; we are chili-heads so the spicier, the better. The Thai Basil muscles are the best prepared muscles that I have ever had. You can adjust the heat level from 1-5 (we always go with a 6). This is a hidden gem with great hospitality, a friendly staff and a unique atmosphere. The Tom Yum soup with chicken is also one of our favorites. The place rocks. Huge portions, custom made to your liking. We now stop there for lunch every time we travel back from Boston to West Springfield. You will not be disappointed. read more

Still a great choice, been coming here for years. Food is consistent, classic Thai dishes all very good. Had my normal "Thai soul food" tonight, yum nuir (spicy beef salad) and Pad Thai. Pad Thai tastes different everywhere you try it and this Sturbridge, Mass version is very good. Pad Thai is like spaghetti at Italian restaurants in US or Italy, usually very good but never identical. The same can be said for Pad Thai. Yum salad beef sauce was a little sweeter and thicker than usual, but good and Thai hot here is indeed spicy and welcomed. Pad Thai is good, nice moist chicken, shrimp and noodles. Service here has improved so much in last few years, maybe even above average overall. Back again with Masaman curry, very good. Back again, 3 nights in a row, why try anything different when so good here. Taking a chance and ordered to Pho bo, they have never offered it before and they offer any meat with beef broth. I've had great pho in a lot of US cities, but 90% is poor in comparison with broths made from bone like in Vietnam. The pho here was very good, I'd have it again, the broth was not as subtle as if prepared from bone. I asked and they told me it was about the most dish here, and I believe it. This place was very strange. When we walked in, the place was extremely silent. Nobody was talking and there was no music playing. There were about 5 tables with people, but it was just weird given the noise level. We were going to leave, but decided to give it a try. Besides the atmosphere, the food came out quickly and the service was appreciated. For an appetizer, we ordered the Thai rolls ($5?). There were only 4 rolls, but they were delicious. They were stuffed with chicken, carrots, celery, and cabbage. The roll was crispy just like it should be. The sweet and sour sauce was an added treat. For an entrée, I ordered the Bangkok beef ($10.95?). This came with a soy bean sauce and was barbecued. There was also a number of fresh vegetables. My only complaint was the number of pineapples in this dish. They were not needed. Everything else about this dish blended well together except the pineapples. Will I go back? I might. read more

I think The Thai place is pretty solid not the best but better than average. While the Tom Yum was good and flavorful it wasn't the traditional Tom Yum I've had in other restaurants, still and all quite good in a unique sort of way. The papaya salad was tasty but not quite Thai style imo, very enjoyable with a good spicy kick though. Thai rolls were very good with a traditional Thai dipping sauce that was the best I've had. Vegetarian Penang Curry was awesone, perhaps the best dish of the day. We visit here fairly often, and the food is always good. They also offer lunch pricing on many of their items (lunch goes until 3:30 I believe) so that's a great way to save a few bucks. I usually get the pad thai just because I love pad thai, and this one comes with both shrimp and chicken.
