The food wasn't just the standard pub fare; everything we tried that day was excellent. I had fish tacos and French onion soup. Two flour tortillas, packed with fried haddock, coleslaw, and a spicy remoulade, served with lime wedges. The tortillas were toasted for extra flavor and held together well, easily holding the generous fish portions and wet coleslaw. The fish was fresh and the batter was light and crispy. Portion size was reasonable. The onion soup was outstanding. The broth was full-bodied and rich and seemed homemade, not from canned stock - though I can't say for sure. It was a bit salty like most, but the seasonings (I noted thyme and pepper) balanced it. The cheese on top (Swiss I think) was nicely browned, the onions sweet and caramelized, and there were plenty of toasted croutons made from a French baguette. Scallions on top added color, some crunch, and completed the dish. When I got the bill I was pleased to see the soup was only $3 not $8 as listed on the menu, because they treated it as a substitute for the fries normally served with the tacos. Which was fine as I didn't really need fries - and I had some of the wife's anyway, which were very good. The wife had The Clothier: a sandwich with marinated fried chicken, pepper jack cheese, candied jalapenos, smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and house-made spicy ranch. Excellent. For a drink I had a Citizen's Cider on tap, one of my favorites. Beers on tap - of which there were many - and the cider are offered in 16 and 22 ounce sizes. The menu had lots of options. The expected pub standards and also some unusual items liked fried green beans, tomato artichoke bisque, and an extensive baked mac & cheese selection. The desserts included "Our Famous Twiggie", a cookie (choose from 3) topped with ice cream, two kinds of syrup, and whipped cream. The cookie is baked to order and takes 15 minutes! The interior looked really nice, but the day was so pleasant we sat outside on the street-front patio, across from the St. Albans city park. It was so pretty with the bountiful floral arrangements in the park and on the sidewalks. I know it's not the restaurant's doing, but it really contributed to the ambience. Some other points to mention: The inside walls are covered with a rotating selection of local art, with the featured artist changing periodically. I don't know if the art is for sale or for display only. And the events calendar listed "Wine Wednesday" throughout August and September: 1/2 price bottles of wine. That's an event I would support!

And I would say the same for their pizza, except a few years back they made a change to their Mozzarella and I have been greatly disappointed. Every time my partner and I dine on their pizza or mozzarella based food options we feel crumby afterwards. We've found that cheaper mozzarellas tend to have more oil leading to more tummy upsets. But I have to say the rest of their foods, the non-mozz options, are on par with an Italian pizzeria, wonderful, tasty, presented beautifully. Overall their food is wonderful, their staff are very friendly, and the business is clean & presentable. I'd recommend giving them a try yourself next time you're in St Albans.

Kyojin in South Miami, Canton in Coral Gables, POC in Coral Gables) but I was craving Chinese food as I had not had any in so long. Lucky Buffet did not disappoint. They had sit down dining service as well as to go service. I am not sure if they deliver. If they did that would be amazing! But it was pretty busy which is always a good sign for a restaurant because it means they are doing good business and there is a demand for it. I ended up eating with my eyes and then my stomach because i filled 2 to go containers with a variety/assortment of foods like General Tso's chicken (my favorite), chicken & broccoli, crunchy and flavorful snap peas, crispy wonton noodles, very breaded/fluffy battered chicken tenders, and some vegetable fried rice that i doused in the General Tsao's sauce). I also got some of these Buttered scalloped potatoes which O-M-G were so darn good. They also had sliced onion mixed into the batch and no complaints there. It came out to a total of $38. There was a sign that said it was like $7.95 for pound of food and I figured I would splurge since I am not sure when I would be back there. I walk everywhere and in the cold, frigid temps, it's a bit cumbersome (and dangerous) to walk with food like that over icy sidewalks and slushy-muddy snow. I can't speak to what dining in would be like, but it seemed pretty decent. There was a steady flow of customers coming in and out which is always good to see. I also liked how they had fortune cookies sitting on display in the middle of the place for guests to take. I took about six lol I can't resist a good old fashioned fortune cookie:) If I ever happen to be walking by again, I would consider it again, but it is a lot of food. So you have to go on an empty stomach and also try not to over indulge or else you will have tummy issues. Chinese food is notorious for having MSG, but I am not sure if they use that there. I will say that they had a pretty decent dessert bar and ice cream selection. The people of Saint Albans are "lucky" to have this restaurant in their midsts. Also parking is pretty ample for those that have vehicles and the restaurant itself seemed pretty clean and well organized. If buffet items got low, they immediately would replenish them. The food was hot and ready to go. A plus was the little keychains being sold at the front at the counter. I had to get a Stitch one because I love the Stitch character. He's so cute ^_^ They also had a Spiderman one and Hello Kitty one so any fans of those characters would be pleasantly surprises and amused to see them being sold there once you check out and pay. Best Thai food I've ever had (I've only been to one place in Burlington and one other place in Montpelier) but this is so good. I only order the Pra Ram and it's so good. I would never think peanut butter and chicken could taste so good! But it did. Only four stars because they told my wife that she couldn't order a kids sized chicken noodle soup which was ridiculous and awkward. I will be back because the food was so good. read more

Thai food so good! They make the best Massaman, a Thai curry with potatoes, carrots, and onions, you pick the protein of your choice. The chicken satay is awesome. You must try the Mango Sticky Rice and I highly recommend the Thai House Spring Rolls. At 6:45, we went to pick up the order and the staff seemed very confused. Nothing was ready and the order they pulled up and started to fill was not ours. One of the women then looked the order up online and found the correct order. At that point, everything had to be cooked still. We didn't get our food until 7:30. No discount for the mistake, no true apology, just a lot of blame thrown around from one worker to the other. Now that the ordering fiasco was over, we went home with our food. In the rush, the lack of attention to the food cooking properly wasn't ideal. The chicken wings were not fully cooked. Other foods, like the spring rolls and black pepper chicken, were horribly greasy, something I've never experienced from Oriental Kitchen before. After this, we've decided that we won't return. St. Albans has another Chinese that is just as good as Oriental Kitchen used to be.
