First time here was kinda on a whim! I've noticed the place anytime I go to Hannafords and it was a quiet "maybe I should try that place" but after seeing all the good reviews I decided it wouldn't be too bad! I was right (fellow yelpers were too!) I'm not very familiar with Thai - I've been slowly trying new things recently and enjoying it! Yum! I got chicken satay, garlic pepper and Thai custard sticky rice. I enjoyed the chicken satay, the peanut sauce was good with the chicken, upon the first bite I was a little sketched out, not knowing what exact I was eating and it confused me after that initial reaction, I tried a little more and quickly grew to like it. The garlic pepper was my favorite part of my meal - while it was a little too salty it was yummy, great flavors and maybe healthy(ish) too! The dessert is where I was a lost - the colors were off putting to my not so adventurous taste. While I did try it and I liked it, I found it hard to eat - the rice was deep black and the custard was green, I gave it to my friend who lives in my apartment building. While I wasn't too impressed with the service - she seemed kinda irritated with me not knowing what I wanted when I had to look at the menu at the register- I bought one home so next time I can just call ahead of time. The place could use a overhaul or at least get rid of the thick carpet! I'll be back to try more things on the menu - like the pineapple fried rice, pad thai, cashew nut and chicken noodle soup to mention a few! read more

Having just arrived across the border into Vermont from Canada, we were hungry and unsure of where to eat. A quick phone search brought up a disappointing array of Pizza huts and Subways. I was just about to say "keep going" past St. Albans, when I saw Thai House pop up. We quickly got off the exit, and found the restaurant. The food was REALLY good. We ordered Pad Thai Tofu (because we always compare it to other Thai places) and the Red Curry with shrimp. They also brought us out a small seafood plate, with calamari and shrimp with cashews, for free, for no real reason. The flavors were excellent, and the shrimp was VERY fresh, and cooked perfectly. I wish they had summer rolls on the menu, and a way to get Panang without duck, but I was extremely pleased with what we got. If I ever happen to be around St. Albans again, I will definitely eat here again. read more

The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious, and love that they will adjust the heat in dishes for my Hubs who loves it first to my boys who don't like it as hot. Chicken Satay & Chicken Massan are a favorite in our house along with Pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles & chicken Pad Thai. All that runs us about $65 and feeds more than our family of five. I've been going to Thai House since they opened their doors at the Lake Street location. The owners are real gems and are only a part of the reason I return time after time. The food is the main draw. Drunken Noodles are great, and don't ignore the specials. Their Mango Shrimp Curry is to die for. I highly recommend making it for dessert. We love the Thai Ice Cream and my kids always share a Fried Ice Cream. Thai House was named Best Thai Restaurant in New England by Yankee Magazine, so obviously the magazine felt they were the creme de la creme. read more

I always go to Thai House with my family and love it! The people are very nice and kind. The decoration is phenomenal! Don't even get me started on the food. The food is great! I love the crab angels because there always so crisp and tasty! I always get Pad Thai and its always great. There are so many verity there which I think is awesome. I am never disappointed when I walk in that door. There one of my favorite restaurants. There still doing pretty well from the Covid 19. If the closed down I would be so sad. Upon first glance, I didn't even want to walk in to the building! Thai House is located within the same parking lot as a strip mall, but it is not attached to the mall. It looks a little skeezy and run-down. The interior is much nicer, but the décor is dated. I ordered take-out and got the duck salad. The duck pieces were crispy and quite tasty, and I enjoyed the addition of cilantro, mint, and thinly sliced red onion. The dressing was a light, tangy vinaigrette that paired well with the duck. My only complaint is that the salad is tiny for the price! It was $8.50 before tax and tip. I expected that I would receive a large enough portion to fill me up, but I was left less than satisfied after eating it. The hours were also quite surprising, considering it was a Friday afternoon. We had a good curry, decent salad and a very, very sweet desert called "Thai Sticky Rice with Custard". The custard is green, warm and tasty. The rice is not very sticky and very sweet. We also tried the Thai tea, which doesn't resemble tea as much as a warm, very sweet, milky beverage. Strangely delicious but make sure you can handle sweet drinks before you try this. read more

My wife and I are from the SF Bay Area and like to think we know great Thai food. This place, in a shopping center in this Vermont town of some 6000 folks, comes pretty close to what we know in the Bay Area --- even if the menu is bit limited compared to what we were used to. Then again, it's in small town in northern New England, without a large ethnic market to cater to. Outstanding food, not short on spiciness. The best source for take out food in St. Albans. Solid tom kha, tom yum, and salad selections (personal favorite is the cucumber salad, the lady friend elects for the jungle shrimp salad). The noodle dishes are solid, I prefer the drunken noodles. Spice levels can vary from trip to trip; I've been both underwhelmed and overwhelmed by spice on my drunken noodles when I ask for extra spicy. The owners are very friendly, and keep the place bright. No alcohol, but you can bring your own wine/beer to consume. read more

Just ate some Thai food. I watch a lot of Big Bang Theory so I start to crave Thai and it is hard to come by in New England depending on where you are. This was okay. I would go back. The Tom Yum Soup was not great. The veggies were so HUGE that you couldn't fit them on a spoon to eat them. Lots of Bay leaves and big Bamboo pieces... I ate the chicken mushrooms and some broth but then passed on the rest. I ordered some Chive Dumplings which were a special that week. They were not what I expected but tasty non the less. My main dish was Pad Thai which I know is cliche but I wanted to try it. I wasn't in the mood for anything too hot so I skipped the Drunken noodle which got good reviews on here. I have eaten here many times and tried many dishes. All of them have been outstanding. I especially like their various curry and noodle dishes. They are willing to customize the heat level to suit your taste. I like spicy Thai food. When I order 'Thai hot', I expect my head to sweat. Here it definitely does. I have found that I can eat their dishes at the highest heat level but I enjoy them more if I dial it back a notch. It is still plenty hot and spicy. I wish our Thai restaurant here in Plattsburgh, NY could even make me sniffle. The appetizers and soups are a good way to start your meal. All of those that I have tried have been tasty. The tom yum and tom kha soups are my favorites. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. read more

Really just a wonderful surprise to find a Thai restaurant with vegetarian options in Saint Albans. The restaurant was great about pointing us to entrees on the menu that could be made without fish sauce. We tried the Tom Kha soup, and some of their vegetable entrees. Hard to believe it's in Northern Vermont; this is the best Thai food I have had, including some pretty great places in San Francisco.

For apps, we liked the prawn dumplings which were on special. For entrees, I had #50, Two Lovers, shrimp & scallops & asparagus in a tasty but salty Thai sauce. Husband had, I believe #16, basically a Krapow but with more peppers, billed as a smoky chili sauce. He didn't really detect any smoke, and I think a linguistic barrier prevented him from getting the medium-high level of spice he was looking for, so be clear whether you want ONE pepper (mild!) or TWO (actually spicy, we presume). I always have trouble ordering from Thai House because just about everything on their menu looks delicious! I usually just fall back on the Pad Thai but some of the garlic dishes and curries are really superb. It's a small place for sit in, but it's not cramped and is very relaxing. I highly recommend it for date night. I use it most often for take out and they typically only take about 20 minutes to fulfill a large order. I am a bit taken back by the prices. Most of the special dishes are about $18 each. If you go with noodles it's around $13. I've also seen some inconsistencies between the menu descriptions and what you get (garlic shrimp, this last time, didn't appear to have any of the advertised "sauce"). But don't let those minor issues steer you clear. If you have money to spend on good food, try them out. read more

The only downfall is the ambience - it's dated. Otherwise, this place is a culinary bright spot nestled in a fast-foodscape. I had a red coconut curry with shrimp, asparagus, carrots and a few other veggies. The ingredients were fresh, well-put-together, and the service was incredibly fast. The Thai iced tea helped to chase down the spice. My dining partner had rice noodles with calamari and vegetables, he gave it the seal of approval. I will definitely return. I had heard so many amazing things about this place, that as a Thai food lover I was so excited to try it for the first time. The decor is nice and the staff super friendly. Myself and my friend each opted for the pad see ew. Such a disappointment. Neither of us wanted to be the first to admit how awful it was but finally we equally conceded. There was NO flavor, bone dry meat, overcooked noodles and a few pieces of grey-green broccoli. I might try them again dining in (I generally have a "try twice" policy) but it was truly bad food. Easily one of the best, authentic Thai food restaurants (much better than the Burlington area restaurants), though our favorite is the catering place in Shelburne. This place is my new favorite spot. Honey duck is heaven on a plate. My husband has tried the curry and the basil duck, but while they are both good the honey duck is still the best. You get about half a duck, with veggies and shaved ginger. We usually start with the spring rolls which we both love. I finish with the custard desert. All the while its byob so we walk across the parking lot to buy the wine and sip that while we eat. Keeps costs down and for all that we end up spending under $50 for the two of us including meals with duck! Can't be beat! Atmosphere is amazing too. Nice but not over the top. read more

Great service, tasty food, the only downfall in my opinion are the booths; the back rests are not fixed or something, so when you have someone sitting on the other side behind you, there is a lot of movement... kinda caught me off guard but it wasn't a deal breaker. Next time we'll just take a table instead of a booth. Ohh and I'd like to see some less-mainstream items on the menu, like what Tiny Thai recently did by expanding an authentic section in the menu. read more
