Thai hut is always a great spot to get some quality authentic flavor. The food is always delicious with the aromatics in each bite. The service is always quick& efficient no matter how many people are there that day. They really recommend great menu items and have all the ingredients to accommodate any dish whether you want it spicier or sweet. The portions are huge! The Thai tea is huge too. The ambiance is so chill and very inviting for any kind of day but especially in the cold winter or crispy fall. I will never miss a Thai hut visit when in Redding. read more

We arrived a couple minutes after opening, and the restaurant was already crowded. Granted, the dining room is small, but I was surprised at all. The tables were pretty much taken up. If this could be a negative star review it would be. We ate here the night before my partner's medical board exams after driving three hours into town. Both of us ordered the drunken noodles and veggie egg rolls. That night, he came down with severe food poisoning--violent vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and dehydration--while I had stomach issues as well. He was so weak he couldn't drive, and it absolutely impacted his exam performance. This wasn't just an inconvenience; it derailed a critical, career-dependent test for an actively practicing surgeon who doesn't get much time off. We couldn't call the next day because we were still recovering and he was tied up taking an 8+ hour board exam. On top of that, we had another three-hour drive home, not getting in until midnight. When I finally called two days later, the staff were dismissive, unhelpful, and shockingly rude. The woman put me on hold to help another customer, then said her manager would call me back. After waiting over five hours with no response, I called again myself. Even after explaining that my partner is a doctor and the timing was clear (we ate lunch around noon, then nothing until Thai Hut at 4-5 pm, my stomach issues were onset almost immediately after we left, and he was violently ill by 9 pm) the manager refused to take any responsibility. Instead, I was told it "wasn't fair" to say it was their food and implied we were being dishonest or just after money. For the record, the meal cost $55 with tip. No one goes through this ordeal for a refund--it's about principle, accountability, and customer safety. If we don't hear back soon, we'll have no choice but to dispute the charge with our bank. This experience turned a high-stakes weekend into a nightmare and showed zero responsibility from the restaurant. If you value your health or basic respect, I strongly recommend avoiding this place. read more

Never thought I'd find Thai food in Redding, let alone a place worth returning to and craving. We had a party of 10, which they kindly accommodated right after another large party left -and told us by phone approximately when the table would be ready. Coco provided the best service, highly personable, and definitely went above and beyond. We ordered a good selection of the menu and everyone was pleased, I especially enjoyed the chicken panang but medium spice seemed hotter than my boyfriend's curry that was also medium -so perhaps a bit inconsistent with spiciness. If in doubt, lean towards mild but if you can handle heat, spicy is delicious. Food portions are great, absolutely filling. If you get fried rice, get ready to share. Everyone also enjoyed the spring rolls and chicken satay. I loved the peanut sauce! The restaurant itself is simply decorated and small. There's outdoor patio seating but we opted indoors during this heat wave of over 100 degrees. Due to it's size, I recommend calling ahead. My only complaint is that they use styrofoam takeout boxes. Coming from Southern California, it's a rarity to see and banned in many areas. Hopefully they'll change to recyclable boxes in the near future. Sorry for the dissertation, just GO!! read more

The food was really good I had the prawns with vegetables. I had a Thai tea too. What I was really upset about was $8 for an iced tea with cream! $12 for a very small plate with about eight prawns and 20 pieces of vegetables and two scoops of rice. I have to start out by saying that Thai Hut was very accommodating of us being a big group. Service was friendly and quick - and not complicated even though we had 3 different checks. The food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Thai Tea was not it. I went to this place because it had good reviews online. I asked the waitress for what is recommended. What I got was not the best the beef was inedible. The flavor was good but the beef was so chewy it was like trying to eat a shoe. The meat quality was a massive let down. Best Thai food in Redding!!!!! This is a small restaurant so seating is limited at lunch although there is a covered patio for outdoor dining. The flavor of everything on the menu is fresh and tasty. I ordered the special for today! Chicken soup & noodles and two shrimp rolls! I paid $50 and gave a 20% tip! I waited for 40 minutes, when i arrived at home 4 minutes later the noodles were barely warm and the noodles took over any broth at all. It was very disappointing and my wife is Asian. I was more embarrassed than anything trying to get a hot chicken soup to make my wife feel a bit better eating a comfort meal! Anyways I will never go back! For the 2 soups, 2 entres and 1 appetizers we spent almost $80. Amazing Thai place - a bit of a surprise to be honest. Usually when there's not a lot of competition around, the one place in town usually isn't very good. We had the House Fried Rice which is very tasty - it has a distinct seasoning that I haven't tasted from a Thai place in the past. We also had the mixed veggie stir fry which was refreshing. I've never been much of a veggie person but this wasn't oily at all and very tasty. If we're back in town, will definitely return. I've followed this family around Redding as they've relocated and renamed their restaurants. I am a fan of curries, and a fan of heat. Not eat raw peppers in a contest heat, but hot on the normal scale of Southestern Asia restaurant hot. Thai Hut gets it. I eat, I sweat, I enjoy. But it doesn't seem like I offended someone in the kitchen when I ask for something hot and they nuke my food. I tend to stick to the red and yellow curries with varied proteins, and have enjoyed their Massaman curry, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and other dishes and recommend them all. The place is small, quant but the food is flavorful. We had the vegetable tempura for an appetizer with a sweet chili sauce. The vegetables are crunchy and there is a variety of vegetables. It's a small business that you probably would pass by and not give a second look. Let me tell you, it would be a huge mistake. This is one of the best restaurants in the Redding Area. We moved up North almost a year ago from the Bay Area and have been missing all the authentic great food the Bay Area has to offer. Felt like Thai food today for lunch and I couldn't remember where I'd seen one. Quick Google search and several locations populated. Glad we went with this location. It's a small quaint establishment, was very busy only had one server and one person cooking. We had a short wait but it was well worth it. The young lady who served us was friendly, courteous, and professional in spite of being slammed with customers. The food was phenomenal, bursting with just the right amount of flavor. The Thai Tea was delicious as well. Your choice for the level of spice mild, medium or hot. I've added a few photos to give you a visual of their presentation. We went during lunchtime and also ordered Pad Thai to go for dinner. Let me tell you, we were delighted and raved about how delicious the food was all the way home. This is my favorite Thai place in Redding! I usually like the pad see ew, but I asked if they could make the lahd na and oh my goodness. It was nice and smokey, rich, and perfectly seasoned. They even added the fried garlic on top!! I was sooo happy that the kitchen was able to make it, it's been so long since I've last had it. It reminds me of the lahd na I used to get when I visited Thailand as a kid. The chicken laab was full of fresh herbs and you can taste the toasted rice powder. We ordered the mild for my manager, but it was a wee bit too hot for her. Parking can be a bit difficult since they do get pretty busy during lunch, but that just shows how good their food is.
