I've eaten here twice in the past week because the food is so good. Not only that, the owner Nick is an efficient, polite and attentive Whirling Dervish. It is evident that this is his personal pride showing in his values and business. I introduced myself on my second visit and complimented him on the entire experience. My first trip was with my weekly lunch pal (thanks Larry). My first order was traditional Pad Thai; my Italian restaurant equivalent of spaghetti and meatball test. The dish was a outstanding and prepared well; a fresh combination of ingredients, not a seething pile of limp stuff as it is at some places I've "experienced" at the quick and down service of the places toward DC. The Tom Kar coconut soup was also very good and had just the right amount of spice, the crispy egg rolls well-made with non-greasy, flaky wrap and great flavor and garnished with fresh carrot spiral and a very tasty sauce (homemade I believe). On my second trip I had the Massaman Curry -some of if not the best I've ever had; a great balance of curry spices and juicy, medium sized bites of chicken. The potatoes were firm but well cooked and even though the kitchen had forgotten the peanuts, I happily ate with no complaint! The sauce was exquisite--I'd call it savory in the best way. There are a few other things to note; the atmosphere is very pleasant and subtlety colorful with tables and booths under spread paper umbrellas inverted and hung from the ceiling. His presentation of food is careful and The entire restaurant is white glove spotless and it shows, excluding the restrooms. A pleasant, very tasty and a perfect experience. I once gave this a 5 star review but it has changed hands now and is really bad. The original owner sold his share and moved back to Thailand. I suppose he took the good cook with him because this is not the taste or quality that it had before. I ordered my usual red curry with chicken. It was pale pink curry with a lot of fresh green beans. It was actually soup, not curry. My friend's pad Thai was so bad she left it. We had been going there for years but no longer. My Thai-food loving friend had also been a regular customer. She agreed that the food is now terrible. It is so sad to have lost a good Thai restaurant in Winchester. read more

Love, love, love this restaurant. I am very picky with food and I grew up eating authentic Thai food and this restaurant serves authentic Thai food that is so delicious. I have been guilty of dining by myself a number of times eating a three course meal and a glass of wine. I joke with the owner that he has to roll me out of here! The portions are good and the owner is super friendly and nice and clean. He is always wiping down the tables and menus. Bathrooms are clean too. The food here is delicious and we've already been a few times. It's lovely to have another Thai option and they have curry puffs!!! I know that may seem small, but they are a Thai favorite of mine and, until Thai Lotus, there wasn't a puff to be found in Winchester! Why four stars, you ask? Unfortunately there is only one man taking orders, dealing with take out AND handling calls for pick up. He is very nice, but every time we go there are a number of tables and what should be a fairly quick service experience takes foreeeeeeeeever. I had to get up to get my child a drink, get up to get straws, basically go to him to order... what should have been a quick experience took nearly two hours. Wow!! Really good!! I hate to say it, but Winchester Thai has some true competition! My wife had the Red Curry, and I had the Chicken Pad Thai, they were amazing!! I've been searching for a great Thai place in the area for the last year. I've tried places from Berryville to Front Royal and they were either flavorless, too oily, or over priced. Thai Lotus is reasonably priced for their portions, staff is super friendly and the flavors were outstanding. I've definitely found my new go-to Thai place. read more

The food is excellent! I got the cashew nut with chicken and it was flavorful and tasted fresh. The folks there are polite and friendly too.

We are traveling home to New York and stopped in for dinner. We had the Thai Gyoza as an appetizer which was very good and the sauce with it was amazing! For dinner, we had the Pik King (medium) and Red Curry (spicy), both with chicken. Both meals were excellent and the spice for both was perfect. The service is prompt, courteous, and friendly, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I highly recommend Thai Lotus! read more

This place is SPOTLESS. I have never been in a restaurant so clean. I took my wife here for her birthday dinner (she loves Thai food) and we were not disappointed--quite the opposite! The food is great, the service is great (especially considering there seemed to be one guy running front of house when we went) and it's really conveniently located. This used to be one of our favorites in an area where there are a lot of chain restaurants. The food was authentic and delicious with great portion sizes. They changed ownership and the food is not good. Sent back a chicken dish because the chicken was so dry. They sent me out a new dish and it was still dry and small in portion size. Very disappointing. The owner was sitting in the restaurant and we were the only patrons. He never bothered to come over to check and see how we enjoyed our meal or to say hello and welcome. The food was good but the portions were terribly too small! I thought it was a mistake so we went again and set down to eat in this time and as we waited for them to come to take our order a couple came in complaining that the portions of their order were extremely small as well. I got up and told them the same thing happened to us but we had just thought it was an error and the couple mentioned that they thought the same thing but know now. They said that they used to order from there all the time under the old ownership and they always had great-sized portions, but will not go back. We got up and left. read more
