If you're used to Vietnamese rolls thes are a bit different as they used chopped lettuce and no basil. The peanut sauce was not spicy but adding spiciness was easy as they have a tray full available. The pad see ew was very tasty and well cooked. Noodles were not overly greasy and we added bean sprouts to more resemble chow fin in Chinese cuisine. Others ordered the curries which were well stocked with proteins and veggies. Again the spiciness was a bit tame but you could increase as needed which cannot be undone if served too spicy. Finally we had a surprise for a birthday in that they served us a plate of the mango sticky rice which was a total hit. I highly recommend you order. The mango was fresh sweet and was perfect with the glutinous rice. The chewiness and sweetness of the rice and the tanginess and soft texture of the ripe mango was perfection. Better than cake!! Looking for a weirdly bare bones Thai joint in the midst of the hip and busy Mississippi district? Here you go. Looks like a regular sit-down restaurant with tables and booths and such, but you order at the counter, and they bring the food to you. The dishes were super good though, flavorful mouthfuls from our Pad Kra Praw and Thai Ginger, with a nice heat and perfectly cooked veggies with a good slab of rice to come with, at the usual prices. We finally stopped by to try this spot and it wasn't what we were hoping for. The service was very kind and quick but the food was lacking. The salad rolls themselves were good and the veggies were fresh but the sauce was very weird - it was super sweet and watery and didn't pair well with the rolls. I have to say they have the best pad Thai I've had outside of Thailand. Pad Thai on the streets of Chiang Mai is really hard to beat. Just know that medium can be quite hot here. They said it was changed a little bit and now you have to enter into the restaurant on the patio side. They take your order at the counter and then you find your seat or you take it to go. This time I chose to go because I want to go home and eat myThai food. The gentlemen, that waited on me was very kind. I placed my order online. I arrived no more than 15 minutes after I ordered it was ready to go. I ordered the Crab Rangoon, spring rolls, pineapple fried rice and yellow curry with chicken. The spring rolls were delicious but I felt the wrapping was a little thicker than I expected. Yummy all the more. The pineapple fried rice was most, and super flavorful. I love the veggies with bites for pineapple throughout. The yellow curry with chicken was ordered mild. I can't take too much heat. I imagine it's better with a bit more spice. The crab Rangoon again was flavorful but there was t much crab so it's hard to rate it very high. All in all this is a pretty consistent Thai restaurant that I would definitely recommend to anyone especially my Yelp community. read more

We came today and was surprised by how they changed the dining in process. You have to order and pay at the counter first then grab a seat while waiting for your order. It's ok I get it. That protects the business from dine and dash scenarios. The only thing that did not change was the food. Still consistently good and flavorful. Considering the record inflation we are suffering from right now, the food was fairly priced. Serving size was decent. The place was clean. Well kept. Whenever I pass by this restaurant it always smells so good so glad we finally got to visit during lunch to check them out! They have both lunch and dinner hours so be sure to check them out before heading over. Otherwise you can order for pick up ahead of time. We ended up ordering at the restaurant during lunch and there were no other in person groups ahead of us so the wait time was only ~10 mins. The indoor part of the restaurant is closed but there are a couple outdoor bench tables that are covered if you want to enjoy your fresh immediately. We ended up getting our two noodle dishes (drunken noodle and pad thai) with chicken and for ~$12 each entree the portion sizes are massive in my opinion. Our entrees were enough to be 2 meals per person. The drunken noodles were tasty with the mushrooms and other veggies. The noodles were cooked well and had good consistency. As for the pad thai the noodles were also cooked well and the sauce was on the sweeter side. I rated them 4 stars since the pad thai was good but I prefer mine a little less sauce with fried tofu and bean sprouts not mixed in and just placed on top. Overall both dishes were flavorful, quick time to prepare, and portions are worth the price here. The curries here looked tasty so I'll need to come on a cooler day to enjoy them. read more

After sitting at a coffee shop nearby most of the morning, I was looking for a lunch spot nearby. I found this place and gave it a try. The inside of the restaurant compared to the outside surprised me. It is open and spacious and had lots of seating during the lunch hour. We ordered the pad see ew and chicken fried rice. I was also surprised how good the food was! The pad-see-ew had lots of sauce to it and was very flavorful! The chicken fried rice was also a win. It had a saucey-ness to it and was also packed with flavor. A lot of times fried rice can be bland and dry, but this is the best I've had! The chicken and rice has a charred-grill flavor to it that made it especially delicious. Our server was accommodating, friendly, helpful and cleared our plates kindly. I've been going to Monsoon for quite a while now, and while Portland has some EXCELLENT Thai restaurants to choose from, Monsoon is always just solid. I wouldn't say they're the best in the world but they're consistent, their portions are big, they're quick, and it always tastes good. I love their location directly across the street from Prost so it makes for a great meal after some German beers! Yeah, their pad thai is very solid. I REALLY like their red curry though and would highly recommend that dish if you haven't had it. Another solid go to is their drunken noodles (aka pad kee mao) and I can usually get a couple of meals out of it. I love Monsoon and will surely continue to go there. On a different note, their service is also always super friendly and nice. I think it's family owned and run so it's great to help out long time local spots like these! read more

Disappointed. I used to have lunch here at least once a month, but since my work location changed, I haven't been here for approx 6 months. I used to love their food...and service...but not anymore. We were "greeted" by a very sullen guy who never smiled, didn't verbally greet us or make us feel welcome, he just kind of mumbled "how many?" then walked us to a table. He didn't ask is we wanted anything to drink, he just walked away. A few minutes later, he brought us glasses of water, set them down on the table, then walked away without saying anything. Approx 10 minutes later (they weren't busy at all, there were literally only 2 other tables besides us) he came to take our orders. The food arrived fairly quickly. One of my friends had the peanut curry. I tasted it and like it. Nothing amazing, just okay. My other friend ordered drunken noodles and she said it was very good. I wanted Massuman Curry, but it's no longer on their menu (disappointing!) so I ordered chicken yakisoba. It was awful... noodles were under-cooked and the yakisoba sauce tasted like a too sweet teriyaki sauce. I definitely wouldn't order that again! The waiter never came to our table to check on us (despite the restaurant not being busy at all). Our waters weren't refilled and I actually wanted to order a beverage, but wasn't given that opportunity. When we were ready to leave, I had to get up and walk to the front to ask for a to-go box and the check. When I opened the container and smelled the putrid order, I knew if the dish tasted like it smelled, I was in for a horrible experience. Sure to my apprehensions, it was garbage. Stinky, sticky, flavorless mess. My only saving grace, is that I didn't spend my own money. It was a virtual holiday lunch, and everyone had food delivered. I head here in the neighborhood for very standard Thai. Nothing bad about it, mostly the same dishes you see everywhere else, just nothing special or unique about it either. The inside of the restaurant is actually pretty nice, despite the outside looking like a dump. It could really use a paint job. I usually get an eggplant stir-fry dish and/or a curry. The portions are generous and sauces decent. They usually have a special or two that's a bit different. I sometimes wish they'd chop their vegetables smaller, as it's annoying to get a whole head of broccoli or pepper you have to cut up yourself to be able to fit in your mouth. Service here varies. We live down the street and try to order from Monsoon at least every other week! Our MUST HAVES are always the Pad Thai with chicken (I know, groundbreaking) with chili oil and peanut sauce, and either the red or green curry. We usually throw in an order of pot stickers & that's enough to feed us for dinner and lunch the next day :) The lemongrass chicken of thai is also a favorite! My boyfriend and I were spending the day in Portland and decided to try this restaurant out for lunch after seeing good reviews on yelp. It did not disappoint! We love spicy food and they definitely brought the heat which made us very happy. We shared two entrees and an appetizer- fresh salad rolls (comes with tofu and not shrimp), drunken noodle with chicken and pad gra praw with chicken. The fresh salad rolls were just as described - super refreshing. The entrees were huge portions and deliciously spicy. This is my favorite Thai food spot in Portland. It's consistent, great portions, flavorful, and always delicious. I always go with the chicken pad Thai medium (which to people who don't like spicy food might be too spicy), or the pad de ew. They are amazing. What Thai food should be in my opinion. If you want to dabble in the apps I recommend the coconut shrimp, pot stickers, and for those veggie lovers the fresh rolls with tofu, and make sure to get extra peanut sauce. Could drink the stuff. I always get delivery from here because it's my lazy Sunday while watching the night NFL game during the fall/winter. If you are looking for good portions and delicious foods please check this out. I have been a customer of this restaurant for years and had nothing but great service and fantastic food but tonight was a huge exception. I'm writing this review at 4:45 am coughing my lungs out and sick to my stomach, and here's why: Our waitress would literally walk away from our table and go to the water station and open mouth cough.. this happened repeatedly. The cough sounded phlegmmy, She sounded stuffed up and sick, and now both my partner and I are sick too. I will miss work tomorrow because I work with food and I don't want to get anyone else sick. I will be missing money right before rent is due because she decided to go to work. I am extremely upset about this. I am immuno compromised, and it's hard for my body to fight off sickness as it is without people coughing into my water. To make matters worse for the first time ever there was something seriously off about the food. The broccoli and only the broccoli tasted like Lysol. Yes, you're reading this correctly- it tasted like cleaner! So I told the waitress and all they did was add more to my plate and put more sauce on it. I was so sad, immediately sick to my stomach, disappointed, and wanted to get out of there so I ate a few bites around the broccoli , got the check, and left as soon as possible.
