It wasn't busy when we went for lunch. The new place is beautiful and clean and the service is phenomenal. You don't wait long for your food at all. We asked for everything to be a level 4 spicy and it was not very spicy. I came back later that week with my family and ordered a totally different array of food and it wasn't spicy. Everytime I come I hear people compliment the food. Personally I have another Thai place I prefer but the food is not bad. I think depending on the day the food is better. My favorite Thai restaurant. I have been going for years to their old location down the street. This is a review for their new location. New location is great. It addresses the limited parking issues they previously had. The building has been renovated and decorated in the modern style more and more common with the new restaurants. I miss the homey style of their previous place. Sidenot the restaurant wasn't packed but it was very loud. The food is still as good as ever. Pad thai remains the best in Atlanta with the perfect texture and wok-hei essence imbued. Fancy Thai shrimp was freshly fried and delicious. The shrimp and tofu Penang curry was a bit too sweet for my liking. Luckily I was able to request the the tangy/spicy jalapeños in vinegar to liven up the flavor. My favorite Thai place while growing up here in Georgia is Thai of Norcross and I finally got around to trying Thai of Norcross at their new location since their new relocation date on January 2022. The food menu is still the same as always and still very good, and as always they still have the picture menu for those that are not familiar with Thai food. The place closes at 9PM but we had came at 8PM and they were still happily taking us in and a few other groups after us. The food still came out great and fast (less than 10 minutes) and the owner and wait staff was very attentive to us. The new space is a much needed and deserving breath of fresh air. For those that has been in Gwinnett for awhile, It's more spacious, well lit, looks modern, even has a separate section for a party/celebration, and a much better parking lot than the previous location. Thai of Norcross is my favorite Thai restaurant in all of the Atlanta area. I honestly get disappointed when I go to other Thai restaurants because I know Thai of Norcross would've been better. I believe they offer more dishes than other Thai places, at least more than the other ones I've been to. They have a normal menu and also a separate picture menu so you can see what you're actually ordering. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of the dishes here. My favorite is always shrimp pad Thai, and they give a good portion size here that you can definitely share with 2 people. I also really enjoy their beef spare ribs- very juicy and tender. It's also on the pricier side, but from time to time it's worth the price to enjoy it. Their papaya salad and num tok are also good and comes in varying spiciness levels. The only thing I have to complain about is that it's always SO busy during normal dining hours. The restaurant itself is pretty small so the front entrance is pretty cramped with hardly any waiting area, and there generally is a wait for dinner. The last time I came for dinner, I stood there trying to get someone's attention to put my name down for a table for 10 minutes. I generally will only come here during off hours so I don't have to deal with the wait or the crowdedness. Their parking lot also is terrible to park in. Very small and hard to get in and out. But, none of these are negatives of the restaurant itself- it just attests to how good Thai of Norcross is. read more

I order a few dishes but Padthai is the best. The fried rice was bland, it maybe because I am asian and I have been eating all kind of fried rice all the time. There is parking by the restaurant, however it does get fairly busy so can be a bit challenging. The interior is very well decorated and they even have a private dining room that you can reserve. I believe it was recently renovated. The menu is very expansive with many different options to choose from. There is also alcoholic beverages available. Thai tea: was delicious! Not too sweet. Make sure you stir it before drinking. You can also ask for a to go cup if you didn't finish. Spicy seafood soup: the seafood was well cooked, soup is definitely on the sour side. Wasn't spicy in my opinion. My 16 months old was able to enjoy the fish filet in the soup. Also did request no cilantro. Shrimp fried rice with wings: very standard fried rice, nothing wow about it. The shrimp was a bit chewy. The wings were good and juicy. Spicy noodle: you can pick your protein. Portion size was good but kind of wish there was more meat and veggies. I tried one of my favorite dishes, chicken green curry and it's the best I've had in A-town. Well rounded spices, heat, al dente veggies and not over cooked chicken. This dish had me at the 2nd bite! I was so disappointed with my experience at Thai Restaurant of Norcross. I got to go one Saturday evening. I called ahead and made my way to their strip mall location. Location and Parking: Parking here is a nightmare. Cars all over the place. I've driven by a few other times and it's always that busy. There is extra parking in the back, but I didn't feel particularly comfortable leaving my car back there, it was a little sketch. It is also on a busy road that is difficult to get in and out of. COVID: So many unmasked people! This was about a month ago, but it was more than just people eating at their tables. The tiny waiting area and doorway was mobbed with completely unmasked people. Even just picking up my takeout made me uncomfortable. Price: The price was steep for what I got. When I asked how much my order would be on the phone it was way more than their menu prices online are. Regardless, I wanted Thai food and was hoping that it would be good. When I got there I paid in cash. The cashier gave me incorrect change and way over tipped herself. I was in such a hurry to get away from all of the unmasked people I didn't notice until I got to the car. Once in the car I had no interest in being back in there so I just left irritated. Food: Thankfully the food was serviceable. I got Masaman with shrimp. I got a lot of nice sized shrimp in my dish. I was also disappointed that they don't put avocado in their masaman but that is more of a personal preference. Potatoes and onions only! The spring rolls were nothing special and a bit soggy by the time I got them home. My soup was fine; not the best but not the worst, but certainly not worth the premium I paid for it. Was craving some Thai food one evening while staying in Norcross, GA for work. Based on the reviews on Yelp - and the close proximity to my hotel - I decided to check them out. I visited on a Tuesday evening - I arrived a few minutes after 5:00 pm. Not many customers at this point. I was shown to a table immediately and seated. I looked over the menu and ordered the Tom Yum soup (spicy lemongrass soup) with chicken, Som Tum (Papaya salad) and Pad Kee Mao Gai (Drunken noodles) with chicken - all extra spicy. The soup came out first - and it was rather ordinary. It lacked the depth and complexity of a good Tom Yum soup. As for being extra spicy - it felt like they just ladled some extra chili oil into the soup. Not very good. For the Som Tum - first, it was served in a way I've never seen - which in of itself is not a negative. It was served with a massive wedge of what appeared to be raw cabbage - and some sort of crispy items. The quantity was the largest serving I've ever seen of Papaya salad. It could easily have served two people. And it was damn spicy. But the spice was not well integrated. It felt like an afterthought - as if they just ladled on extra pepper. And it was so heavy on garlic as to be borderline unpleasant. I love garlic and heat - but the garlic was to much. I ate the whole thing. It felt like I had garlic oozing out of me for hours... The Pad Kee Mao Gai was the only truly enjoyable dish. It came out steaming hot - so much so that I had to wait a bit before eating it - so as to not burn my mouth. Often times - when I visit Thai (and Indian) restaurants - and I order my food extra spicy - I have to lobby and argue with the staff that I can handle the heat. No such interchange occurred this evening - but it *felt* as if the restaurant staff was watching me - to see if I was going to survive their spicy dishes. I understand their trepidation - a lot of folks come in and order things extra spicy, then complain when they can't handle it - and expect the restaurant to make them something else and not be charged for the "too spicy" dish - and the restaurant has to "eat" the cost of the wasted food. The other thing I will note - when I walked in - the first thing I noticed was an unpleasant musty smell. I believe it is the carpet. This was a place that I grew up eating at. I'm visiting town so I wanted to go there so I can go down memory lane. I didn't realize they moved though but it looks very nice in there. It's clean, roomy, and has plenty of parking (something the old place lacked). It did lose kinda its authentic feel as the old design was very unique. The service was good as my family always likes to ask for extra things (fish sauce, thai chili's, extra plates). The pad Thai is a recommend for sure. Some restaurants just stir fry noodles and toppings in a pre made sauce but you can tell this was fresh and made from scratch. It wasn't too sweet at all. The Tom Yum soup was also delicious. I like how they kept the older containers for it even though it can get a bit difficult getting the soup at the bottom. The BBQ spare ribs had a good taste to them but it was a tad dry. One of our favorite dishes was the fried whole fish in a sweet sauce. That fish was the most underwhelming of the whole bunch we got. I felt like the fish was a tad small as there wasn't a much meat to share with our group of five. The fish was super crispy though and we liked how the sauce was kept separate to keep the fish crispy. The sauce for the fish was so good we asked for more. The Thai tea was delicious. For dessert we ordered the mango sticky rice. It had a great taste (the sauce) but the portion of sticky rice was so small. You could barely share it with two people. The half of mango was also not that large either on the second order of mango sticky rice. Definitely tasted good and would recommend if you've never had it but I've had better with more generous portions. Overall I would definitely come again and recommend you do too! Rewind a few months ago, and Daniel B. was telling some of us how the creatively-named Thai Restaurant of Norcross is his favorite place for Thai in the metro Atlanta area. I filed that info away for later and pulled it out when I was in the mood for Thai recently. The establishment isn't too far from I-85 and is located in a modest strip mall. When we stepped into the restaurant, we had to wait a few minutes since the place was busy; the woman at the register was ringing up a takeout order, and some other waiters were occupied. We were seated at a semi-private booth which featured an autographed glossy of seminal Athens band R.E.M. Bill Berry declares "Yummy!!" and Mike Mills comments "Best Thai in GA!" Michael Stipe is just [peace sign]. I don't know if any rock bands were dining there that evening, but I was impressed by the diverse group of diners. You'd think you were on Buford Highway or something. The menu was filled with a multitude of options. The Thai iced tea was really delicious. The chicken coconut soup was warming on that chilly evening. It had a perfect blend of creamy coconut milk and lime zing. Half orders are available if you want a smaller serving. The Pa-Nang shrimp in a red curry paste might've been my favorite main, but it was all delightful. Pad Thai is always a safe classic. Duck was terrific too, once I pushed the copious sprigs of cilantro out of the way. Addictive dipping sauces came with the duck slices. We rounded out the meal with the mango sticky rice which was the right amount of sugary coconut milk-fruit-grains for me. The menu doesn't list all the desserts available, just so you know, but the servers are happy to recite the selections to you. The service is super attentive. I almost felt sorry for the waiters since they kept asking if we were ready, but it was taking a long time to decide since so many dishes sounded irresistible. My family and I are happy to come back to this establishment that we have frequented over the past few years. The food quality and service are consistent. The service is always good. The business is taking precautions for Covid-19 like ensuring staff has face coverings, limiting number of patrons, having a shield at the reception, and placing customers adequately apart from one another. This time we ordered the tofu pad Thai, shrimp pad Thai, tofu and mushroom coconut soup, and Thai tea. The pad Thai serving is generous and I think it should be shared by at least two people! We always have leftovers. I would have liked more shrimp in our pad Thai (there were five) and I would have preferred the tofu in the coconut soup to not be fried tofu (plain uncooked raw? Tofu?). We ordered: The flounder 3 flavor fish. It was $30. It was more on the expensive scale. The sauce was good good as usual, sweet, sour, and spicy. The fish itself was not up to its usual quality, it left me guessing if the fish was frozen. The shrimp cake. This was the most disappointing, since it is my favorite appetizer. It was not chewy like last time, it was mushy and doesn't have the same texture. The shrimp roll was good and crispy. The pad thai was "okay". It wasn't anything spectacular, it was just like any other pad thai elsewhere. The Thai tea was good, they make it from actual Thai tea leaves and not from the powder. LUNCH specials are a steal!! They have so many choices to choose from. I like the Rama beef, Penang curry and pad Thai. I've tried the papaya salad, very fresh and spicy! Be aware but soo tasty. Making my mouth water as I'm writing this. I wish I could say the food is consistent in flavor but some days I come and it's bOMB, other days it's a little better than Chinese take out. Echoing another yelper, the best two Thai restaurants in Atlanta are right across the street from one another, and it's awesome. Thai Norcross has been here a goood minute. Everyone has eaten here from REM to Bill Cosby throughout the past 30 years. One could argue that the papaya is fresher here and the competitor doesn't have three flavor fish like this establishment does. You could also say the bamboo decor interior is very fitting and gives it a little something extra unlike the competitor. The food comes out extremely quickly and the servers are friendly. The portions are fair and the menu is a good size. We all have our preferences but I'm happy to say that your food will be flavorful and consistent here. Nam Tok salad, three flavor fish and tom yum soup with shrimp are some of my favs here to name a few. The Thai tea is always perfect. They even have a picture menu for the indecisive. Their beef jerky was burnt to the point that it tastes bitter (they voided from our bill). The grilled chicken is flavorless, numtok is chewy, somtum is flavorless.
