Drunken noodles, where's the basil, tomatoes, green pepper?
    Todd W.

I'm sorry to have to give a one star review. The man that took our order was friendly and pleasant, unfortunately the food was underwhelming at best. I ordered drunken noodles, which is confusing in and of itself, they call them Guay Tiew Pad Kee Mao, I have been eating it for a while and would always orderPad Kee Mao and that seemed to work fine. Anyway, my drunken noodles, ordered medium hot, were sooo bland, and dry, and not at all hot. My meal was also missing the Thai basil, the tomatoes, the green peppers and any kind of sauce at all. I was so bummed because I love drunken noodles! My wife ordered something that I can't remember the name in hot, zero heat , zero flavor! Thankfully, we had some Buffalo wild wing Asian zing in the fridge at home to help us get that bland food down This was an in restaurant take out order, btw. We will never be back and if you like the wonderful flavors in Thai food I would recommend you look elsewhere!

Sounds like lunch is the way to go here. The menu is pretty simple with a few little surprises here and there, and the place is charmingly small. All things that I don't mind in a dinner place, but I usually love in a lunch place. The staff couldn't have been nicer. They were all over the water situtation, very helpful and honest in their recommendations on the menu, and the chef (owner?) came out and greeted every table when he had a chance. Pad Siew, Pad Thai, curry; we hit the basics and they were all good. I can't say the food knocked me over. It was good. Solid. Not any complaints. I'd drop in for lunch anytime without a reservation. And you're not going to be disappointed by coming here for dinner, but you're probably not going to be wowed, either. Then again, who needs to be wowed every meal? Sometimes a good, straightforward, no-nonsense meal of hearty Thai food is exactly what you want. That's definitely Thai Orchid and there's definitely something here.

    lunch special.

I would give this 5 stars based on lunch alone, but seeing as that it's not really ambient enough for me to want to spend a dinner night here. However, the food is great. The lunch special comes with the perfect amount of food and the salad dressing is phenomenal. They also make a great tofu version of the tom kha, not too sweet. It's small, so lunch can get busy and a tad bit slow...but that's something you have to accept with pleasure and face the fact that there are 2 people on hand, server & cook. It's great. It's great food with great people making it for you. Who could ask for more?

This is my favorite thai eatery in town! Food quality is consistently amazing. I always order drunken noodle Pad Kee Mao and Pad Gra Prow. Their Drunken noodle has so many complex layers of flavor, not overpowered with soy sauce like the one from some other Thai places. Pad Gra Prow has the special hot wok taste, very tasty!

Small cozy restaurant... Quite disappointing when ordering as many items are out from chicken satay, mango with sticky rice and custard... A number of menu items are strike out as well. Rather worried that the owner has lost his passion on the restaurant. We ordered curry puff, tofu pad see yew and spicy green curry with chicken. The curry puff is ok, not spicy ... No meat inside only potato and curry. Both curry and pad see yew are good ...

This is my favorite Thai restaurant and quite possibly just my favorite restaurant. The food here is so amazing and about as authentic as it gets, (and I've been to Thailand a few times) It is my choice for my birthday dinner every year. My food recommendation: Appetizer: Satay Main Dish: In this order, Massaman, Pad Thai, Cashew Chicken, Sweet & Sour, or BBQ Chicken. Dessert: Sweet Sticky Rice w/ Mango or Fried Custard.

If you have read any of my reviews, you know that I am a Thai food fanatic and I'm going to share a restaurant with you that I have a great passion for. When I travel through Salt Lake I actually schedule my flight so I can eat at Sara Thai Kitchen. Ohhhh mama. The Tom Yum is to die for. Deep flavor and just enough heat to make me get a good wave of heat from the tip of my toes to the top of my lip. Yup. And the presentation is lovely - a small chaffing dish with a fire under it so it's always bubbling hot. Also, do not pass up the lollipop chicken. It's my favorite starter- I have them box two and I eat one. The crab fried rice is Bkue fin crab- real deal. I swear they sprinkle some magic on it. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu- but be sure to finish off with mango sticky rice. It's the perfect ending to a perfect date. You can thank me later.

The food is masterfully prepared by a couple and the place is super clean. The food is truly amazing. I had the pad Thai with chicken and it was perfectly cooked, the perfect proportion of noodles to chicken and veggies. Since we ordered take out, the peanuts came separately, so they didn't get soggy until I ate. My husband ordered the chicken Thai fried rice and it was also delicious! A lot of chicken and veggies and seasoning was great. The mango sticky rice was fabulous! Mango was super fresh and sweet and served with the right amount of coconut milk. Highly recommend this place! Will be back when in SLC again!

Unfortunately I was careless with my plate and all the delicious sauce dripped out into the plastic bag that held the plate of food by the time I got back to work to eat it. Today I went back and made sure I was more careful with my plate and decided to eat at the few tables set up outside their storefront. I ordered the Khao Soi again. It tastes like a coconut milk based curry. Something about this curry is different. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's probably one of my favorite things to try if a Thai restaurant offers it. Slightly sweet and savory. The chicken thighs (2 thighs) were falling off the bone tender. On my last visit, I got beef and chicken. This time I got chicken only. It comes with green beans, rice, and a spring roll for a little over $12. Really great flavor. I killed my whole plate. The shop is very small. There is a small bar type table to dine in with 3 stools. Just the kitchen, a cooler with drinks, and a small standing area to order at. It's mostly an order to-go place. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes.
