Extremely disappointed with the quality of the food tonight. I've been a customer of the original Thai BBQ for over 20 years and the quality and flavors have always been consistent. I used to frequent the LA locations on 3rd street and western when I lived in k-town. I now live in the South Bay and have been to this location several times. However, tonight the S-1 (BBQ chicken dinner) and chicken pad see ew were completely off. Pad see ew was clumpy, it seem burned/dark and lacked the sweet/savory flavor. Chicken dinner portion was skimpy and also lacked the usual flavor. I order the beef salad for the first time and could not bring myself to finishing it. Completely lacked the usual tangy flavor that other spots usually have. Strike one! I'll give this spot another try in a couple of months. Lastly, dear management: please hide your pesticides away from customers. I saw a spray can for bed bugs in the storage area between the women's and men's restrooms. read more

I always get the BBQ Ribs + Fried Rice meal. The BBQ Chicken + Fried Rice combo is pretty good as well. - Their sweet sauce is addicting. I can pour it on everything! - Love their fried rice. Can't find it in any other Asian restaurant. - Waiters are VERY nice. My parents brought me here for my birthday and they gave us free dessert drinks. - Would have given this place two stars if it weren't for the combo meals and nice waiters. Rudeness!! I had ordered takeout over the phone, when I arrived for pickups. The hostess was plain rude. She was very inappropriate and had bad manners. Very childish. Ok, at this location, I will only do take-outs and very seldom eat there. Their signature dishes are pretty much the same at all other Thai Original BBQ locations. However, the atmosphere at this location really needs work! It is bland and not the least enticing for me, a regular Joe, to even sit down and eat. Food is half the experience I always say. Decided to try delivery and ordered the Gulf Siam (entered SPICE level to 5) cause I was feeling spicy seafood today and along with Tom Yum Soup and received this (picture below) for a $12 soup you'd expect to get what you pay for. I got gypped when I opened and seen it was wasn't filled to the top. Let alone the base of the soup was thick and sweet. No spice what so ever. The Tom Yum looked spicier. Upon arrival at this restaurant, I thought I was in for a good dining experience. The exterior of this place is quite serene with its foliage at the entrance of the restaurant. However, when you enter, it's a much different setting. I went here with my mom and sister, craving some good Thai food. We were seated next to an aquarium that obviously isn't kept up often because it had mold and algae on much of the aquarium. I'm sorry, but I would rather not sit by a moldy aquarium while trying to enjoy my Pad Thai. The food was good, and the prices were reasonable. However, I was discouraged from actually enjoying my food because one of the waiters who served us kept blowing their nose, and wiping their nose with their hands. I did not see that waiter even once go to the back and wash his hands. He just sat a couple tables away from us, scratching and inhaling his mucus as if he wasn't in a place where people were trying to enjoy their food. Maybe it was the moldy aquarium, or maybe it was the disgusting waiter, but I would definitely think twice before going to this restaurant again. read more

I went here today and tried to order eggplant tofu. Hmm it turns out they don't have it. I was a bit surprised.. so instead I settled for the drunken beef noodles (I asked for mild). The texture of the drunken beef was good, the beef was flavorful, there was only broccoli and no other vegetables. It was decent but nothing super special. We also got to try the Wings of Angel. It's boneless chicken wings stuffed with a combination of shrimp, chicken, pork and clear noodles, served with a sweet and sour cucumber sauce. This was very tasty! Service was okay, we had a party of 5 but not everyone's food was brought out at the same time. The thai ice tea is decent. Pretty good prices and food was served at a moderate pace. LOL well the service is ok at this restaurant, the girls at the front desk taking take out orders can be a little stuck up and the decor in this place is very weird, definitely needs to be updated. The S-8 basically is the satay (either chicken, beef, or half/half) you get 8 skewers of meat, plus shrimp fried rice. it is a really large portion and you can definitely share it between 2 people. Other good things here are the Pad Thai order those two meals and your set. Also you have to try the Thai Iced Coffee, it is so good and sweet. Nice ending to the meal. I don't know about you, but I know how I like it... and this place has been one of my favorite restaurants to go to since I was a kid. Every time, after church mass on a Sunday afternoon or night, this place was always recommended to eat at when I'm craving Thai food. I always tried to get my family to go! It's funny though, growing up, I never ordered a 'real' Thai dish at this restaurant. I always had the appetite for their ribs. EVERY time I visited, the ribs were ordered by me. The rice and sauce given to you with the ribs are hella on point! I can eat 'em like I'm a barbarian! Such big portions too! I've been coming here since I was probably 10 years old, probably even younger. And I must confess, I still order the same exact thing at the age of 20. (: Don't get me wrong though, this review isn't specifically dedicated to their ribs. I HAVE tried other things too as I mooched off my family members' plates during all my visits. This Thai BBQ is OKAY. It's similar to the location in Cerritos (except the one in Cerritos is 100x cleaner), this location costs a little bit more--- granted, their portions are larger in size. Food is delicious, but sometimes their S1 (Half BBQ Chicken) can be dry. I don't really like their Thai Tea w/ boba here. The boba is too crumbly and the tea tastes too syrupy. I just opt for their regular Thai Tea if I'm really craving some. Service is alright... They are very stingy with their napkins! They really only like to use one side of their restaurant and rarely open their much roomier side to the public (which is a lot cleaner than the one that is most often used). I have been coming to this chain of restaurants since the 1980s. I go to this location because it is the closest and they seem to serve more food than the others I have visited. I have come here for Mother's Day before and it was lovely. My favorite items are the beef sate with fired rice, the combination soup(beef, chicken, pork, shrimp), beef broccoli with oyster sauce,and the angel wings(chicken wings stuffed with some goodness). I ordered the Beef Satay and Tom Yom soup, and I'd have to say that the soup was one of the blandest versions I've ever had. Stay away from ordering the Tom Yom from Thai Original BBQ Carson. The Beef Satay, however, was simply one of the best Thai satays I've ever had. At lunch prices, it's a steal! $8.25 for lunch is a bit expensive, but trust me, it is straight up Thai comfort food, and it will satisfy that craving. Cheap food, greasy but yummy. For the longest time this was what I knew as Thai food, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Superior Thai fare exists elsewhere but for the sake of convenience, there isn't much else in Carson. For what it's worth, locals love this place. Be warned: it feels grimy, servers can come off as terse (but I've never felt they were rude) and it can get busy. I always like to read majority of the yelp reviews for each location before making my own judgment, and this place seems to have excellent tasting HUGE portioned dishes at great prices. Average price per item is ~ $8 or $9, and again, the portions are HUGE, unless you're obese, then it might be small for you. Taste wise, the flavor is STRONG, strong like P.F. Chang's style strong, but authentic Thai food has strong flavors, so if you like strong flavors, this will be good for you. Pad see ew, Pad thai, and the 1/2 chicken w/ fried rice was what we ordered. BBQ chicken was awesome, not dry, not raw, crispy outside, rice is not weak. Both the noodle dishes were perfect, not dry, and a little wet which I like, always prefer wet over dry. Service was okay, but I don't care about service, so for 3 people, 3 dishes after tax/tip with leftovers for tomorrow's lunch for $35, you can't go wrong, unless you're a yelp hippie tree hugger artist who cares more about the walls and seats and service. read more

With relatives & friends scattered throughout the Los Angeles area, it's always comforting to know there's pretty much always going to be an "original Thai BBQ" within driving distance. This one was a lot cleaner than some of the other restaurants of this chain, particularly the bathrooms. Food is about the same at each place: good. No complaints about the food from me, & Thai has been my favorite since childhood so I am picky about how my pad Thai & duck taste/are prepared. I've only been here during the lunch hours of the day, weekdays & weekends alike. The service has always been pleasant & quickly paced, I can't critique the dinner rush. Gave this place a shot since it's close to home. Never again. I ordered beef satay and the bbq plate; both came with shrimp fried rice. The beef was not beef from a cow but from a goat. The chicken was on the burnt side. The rice was something like spanish rice with 2 shrimps. And i got a thai tea.. That alone was 3 bux and change. I expected a 16 oz cup at least! I am absolutely done with this place! The last time I ordered food to go.... The flavor was just ok! I ordered the chicken pad see yu and the spring rolls. I ordered extra sauce that comes with the spring rolls and paid the 50 cents fee and they only put half the amount of sauce it normally comes with (disappointed)! There was no flavor to the rolls and they were VERY DRY! The pad see yu did not have much sweet flavor to it and the noodles were stuck together, which did not allow the seasoning (that was supposed to be there... Or whatever was left) to spread throughout the dish (again, disappointed)! I have officially broken up with Thai Original BBQ and currently in search of a good Thai food place in Carson! read more

This place was a childhood staple growing up. So i was disappointed with my last encounter. I placed a to-go order & the guy who took the order didnt seem to know the menu. I ordered S-1 & Chicken Noodles and he kept asking "what chicken noodles? chicken noodle soup? glass noodle?" i said "just the chicken noodles".. needless to say, when i got home, it was the WRONG order.. i called and they argued with me then said to come back later on in the week and they'll give me my right order... I visited Thai BBQ in Carson, Calif today. I ordered the drunken noodle/chicken dish for take out. 2 weeks ago we dined at the same establishment in Studio City. I have to say the the Carson restaurant did not come close in flavor nor overall quality. It had no taste, none of the brown sauce that was in the Studio City dish and they used poor quality chicken which was thigh meat...I think...If it was chicken at all. The Studio City store prepared their dish with breast meat. We were very disappointed to say the least. read more
