I love Rascals and have been frequenting this place when it started as a frozen yogurt shop on Western Ave. and Redondo Beach Blvd. in Gardena. They started serving Chinese chicken salad and teriyaki deluxe plates a bit later and the food became so popular that the frozen yogurt was finally phased out. The Chicken Teriyaki Deluxe, Beef Teriyaki Deluxe, Combo Deluxe, and Chili and rice with Chinese chicken salad are all excellent. I used to love getting takeout from Rascals when they had a location by CSULB! If it's your first time here, their chinese chicken salad is what they're most known for. It's simple, but the large is really shareable. I usually like to order their teri-burger. Their patties are made in house, and the burger has tomato, onion, lettuce, and a good amount of their teriyaki sauce. The sauce gives the burger nice sweetness and savoriness that I really enjoy. I get a "burger combo" and upgrade the burger to the teri burger and the fries to a chili-cheese fries. What's not to like about chili and pre-shredded cheddar over thick cut fries? Another favorite is ordering their "family pak", which allows you to get a portion of rice, protein, and salad for 3-4 people for under $40. I don't really enjoy their teri beef, so I recommend their deluxe chicken family pak with chicken, rice, and chinese chicken salad. It works well if I want a solid dinner + a few lunch meal preps. Overall, I miss Rascals in LB and I hope that they come back. I think that this is a little underrated on yelp. Long time Rascal's Fan, first time having a Burger! I ordered the Burger Special and I had it with Salad (you have a choice of sakad or fries). Their sakad dressing is the best! I loved the burger, charbroiled!. They also offer a Teriyaki Burger and a few others. I am glad I finally tried their burger. I also picked up an order to go for the family! We always get the deluxe which comes with the small chicken salad. I typically eat my salad a day or 2 later. I've never had a problem with this. My salad has always remained fresh. But this time it didn't. I bought 2 deluxe meals (for me and my husband) on Saturday. Since I knew I wasn't gonna eat the salads right away, I immediately put them in the fridge when I got home. My husband doesn't like them so both were mine. Anyway, Monday was my day to eat my salads so I grabbed my large salad bowl and dumped my first salad in. I like to toss my salad(s) in a large bowl and then devour. I noticed a little browning on the lettuce but that didn't really bother me. As I started to toss the salad I noticed a yucky smell. Since I was hungry I thought maybe my nose was playing tricks on me. I continued to toss and noticed a lot of browning and slimy cucumbers. Since I'm a goggler I googled to see how long the Rascal salads should last. Google said 3 to 5 days without dressing. This was only the second day. I could have worked around the browning but the smell and slimy cucumbers had me fearful. I'm in my 60's so getting sick is different than in my younger days. I couldn't risk it. Plus google advised against it. So today, Tuesday, I called Rascals to share my experience. The supervisor, Steph, apologized for the experience but said that unfortunately Rascals cannot guarantee freshness if the salad is not eaten the same day. So ..... NOW YOU KNOW. read more

Aside from the original Rascals I know which was in Long Beach CA. I happen to find this Rascals in the a city of Carson. Drove right into it on Carson st. First of all there is plenty of parking near the car wash. No need to stress. Any day and hour you will find convenient parking, which is a big plus! Entered the establishment and was greeted by the main counter. Not alot of inside seating and a few outside tables to sit, overall it is tight in there. I see alot of customer doing take out which is probably the reason. Ordered a Chicken Salad plate and gravy meal. Received my order within 10 mins. All tasted very good. Food is great! No complaints at all. If you love chicken salad entrees and gravy with rice, this place is for you. You won't be dissappointed. They also have a refillable fountain drink machine. Get as many drinks as you want! Three things I noticed. Restrooms can be alittle cleaner and the other is being tight with utensils, condiments and napkins. They will not give you anything in specific or extra unless you as ask for it. Lastly, the guy calling your order is shouting your number. I also ordered a Chinese chicken salad and that was good, too, but they only allow you to order one extra dressing even if you pay extra. So this is why I only give 3 stars. Honestly I really liked this place. Came here for lunch because it's close to work. It's located right next to a popular car wash and there is plenty of parking. Place is kind of small with limited seating. People are very friendly and helpful. I ended up getting the chicken teriyaki plate with Chinese chicken salad. We were sad when they moved from Long Beach -- they always remembered us when we came in with our family The new location in Carson is clean but smaller than the LB spot, and there are no TVs to watch the games. Today we stopped by on our way home from LA. There was a short line to order and we were patient for our food, because well done fries take longer. We got all of our favorites: Cheeseburger special: The beef has good flavor and the fries are in our top 10. Get them well done with extra seasoning salt. Chicken curry plate: Good curry flavor with big chunks of vegetables. Chicken teri deluxe plate: The chicken was grilled well with ample teri sauce, but you can always ask for more. I love their Chinese chicken salad but am not a fan of the chicken on it, so I substitute avocado for $1 more. The dressing is delicious but get it on the side so it's not soupy and you can save leftovers for later. The portions for the plates are very big, so you can share or plan to have meals for days. Other things to know: They also have an avocado sandwich, hot dogs and other things for people who don't like teri, as well as kids meals that come with a drink. You can get family meals or party trays to go that include rice, protein and salad. They have brown rice if that's your preference. Only negative is that they choose to offer Pepsi. I've eaten here a couple of times and also at the Torrance Blvd location. The teriyaki isn't the best but it's decent for the price. The combo plates are great and I always get it with the Chinese chicken salad (Deluxe) that they are known for. They have bowls, curries, hot dogs, and burgers, as well, which I haven't tried. This maybe why their teriyaki isn't the best. It is a great pace to stop and eat if in the areas. The staff are always friendly and very speedy with their service. The locations are pretty far and extreme, wish they would open more locations at least one on the PCH. This would be closer to me. Both locations are pretty spacious and you can usually get a seat. I have loved the Chinese chicken salads and chili cheese fries here for years but very bummed in the amount of dressing, chicken and almonds in the salads lately. I picked up several salads last night and the dressing cups were like 70% full, hardly any chicken and maybe a few almond shards but nothing like what they used to do. There used to be a Rascals near Cal State Long Beach years ago, and, I remember when I used to go just to get the Chinese Chicken Salad. I think I went with out it for years after that place closed down. Now that there is this one in Carson, I'm probably there at least once every two weeks to get this salad! I am writing this because I was truly blown away by the helpful service, flexibility, and reliability of this location. I found myself in a pinch, needing some catering since Flame Broiler and other places were packed, and these guys truly delivered. The Chinese chicken salad was a huge hit, especially their dressing. I came here today for lunch and ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad, and honestly, I was really disappointed. The chicken-to-lettuce ratio was way off, it felt like I paid $12 for a big container of lettuce with just a few pieces of dry, unseasoned shredded chicken on top. The dressing was actually really good, but they barely give you enough of it, and the little bag of wontons on the side definitely wasn't enough for the huge portion of lettuce. I asked for a little extra dressing and some extra wontons, and they tried to charge me an additional $3 meaning I would've paid $15 total for what was basically a bowl of lettuce. First off, I appreciate that they don't have a complicated menu. My first and foremost taste of their food was from someone catering their salad for a party. It was then that I realized that I actually do like salad. Lol! That's where the 5 stars come into play. And I've ordered it myself for catering too. More recently, I tried their Teriyaki Steak Burger and it was pretty good. Now, don't be mistaken by their Teriyaki Burger because that comes with a patty.
